Came on autoplay while doing the dishes, thought for sure I was listening to a studio version of a song I hadn’t heard, see that it’s Plini live, brain implodes. God level musicianship wtf
I think that Simon is the underappreciated bass players in current times. He stays out of the way when he needs to, and absolutely lays down the chops when he needs to flex his prowess. He is one of my favorite bass players of all time!
The fact that Plini's pieces mostly sound improvised yet he manages to replicate them note for note live is just absolutely mindboggling. Definitely not the music for a casual listener, but the dreamy feel good vibe is aways there.
That's a pretty accurate description, the first Plini song that got me hooked was 'wombat astronaut' and that sounds so improvised, yet he plays in perfect unison with the synth and piano parts.
This may sound silly but I've recently realised the key to good improvisation is actually writing and repetition. You won't be able to play slick riffs like that in the moment until you can play them full stop. Once the technique is there and the flow kicks in, you end up with a mish-mash of all that you are as a musician (the only different is you won't know when it's happening until it happens). I'll bet some of this is purposely written, while other bits just fly out in the flow but then they get re-learned. It's kind of hard to describe the indescribable, but that's my best attempt!
I think it can go both ways. Most of the time I'd agree, you don't want to improvise techniques you don't have mastered, but other times, improving stuff out of left field can be how you create or learn new things. I just experienced it the other day. I was on vacation and hadn't played in 10 days. My feet were a bit sloppy, and my timing wasn't the best but I started throwing out these crazy fills and new things from no where and I kinda wish I recorded it now. Before that, I kind of was in a rut creatively on the drums. I was playing pretty well but my improv started to shit the bed
@@HugoStiglitz88 Yeah looking back on my comment, I wasn't entirely right. What you have said is also true. I have played some of my best stuff without even thinking about how I did it at the time. It's a magical feeling!
Thank you, Plini, for creating such a wonderful track. It takes me back to a time when I was facing challenges in life, reaching my lowest point. 'Electric Sunrise' played a crucial role in helping me persevere, inspiring me to keep pushing forward and ultimately choosing life. Your music has been a beacon of hope for me.
Good for you. Find your inspiration wherever you can. Life is precious, no matter what your circumstance. It's not supposed to be easy and happy all the time, hardship and sadness will happen to everyone. Be grateful and you will find that it is much better than being angry or envious, lost in this material world. There are people out there that can use your help now, look out for them and help them. Perhaps they don't know Plini, so introduce them. It might have the same effect for them.
Same! Dad dying in cancer, lost my previous life, the love of my life, being burnt out, incompetent healthcare withdrew my ADD meds. Wading through ruins that once was my life, but Plini still made me behold the skins in wonder and awe.
Just want to say that while I don’t play Plini’s style of music at all, I love his tones so much that his was the first Neural DSP plug-in I ever bought
I own every DSP, and the plini is definitely the one i use the most myself. Lacks some of the "gimmicks" of the other dsps; but the three amps are such a wide range and cover basically anything. Nolly and SLO100 are monsters too if youre in the market for a 2nd one :)
Apart from Plini being amazing at what they do. The sound quality of this recording is next level. It's insane how much Live Music recording has improved.
yes that's what those digital units do, you can really create a mix ready sound and send this to recording while you play on a real amp for the show audience... I never understood the beef some people have with digital stuff, it sounds so great...
Electric sunset is one of the most beautiful instrumental songs that I had ever listened in my entire life, the music has so much feeling but the story is the one that you choose to into those feelings and mine I can say it’s love, great job in every production, execution and composition.
Dude, I've been playing since I was 8 years old and I had a great career over three decades. This guy just makes me excited about music again. After what I've put myself through, I couldn't ever purchase, for any amount of money, inspiration.
Plini and the band always sound amazing but the sound engineer behind this video should also get an award! What an AMAZING production! My ears are blessed.
If there's a drumming style called sophisticated caveman, it's in Cascade. He beats those things into submission. But nothing sounds out of place. Hats off to Plini, who is one of the best composers I know today. His stuff careens and soars and doesn't always go where you expect - but it always feels perfect. These 3 pieces showcase the genius well.
I'm in disbelief everytime i watch this. what the fuck are the accents here man. This is probably one of the single most insane recorded pieces of musicianship out there.
I've been exposing my infant to your music since she was born and, though she can't quite verbalize it yet (she's about 10.5mo old), she does seem to quite like your music, especially this song! Which makes me happy, because I'm a HUGE fan of your music!!!!
I lay there intending to sleep and was absolutely mesmerized by this. A lot of virtuosity, technique, elegance and power in each plini lead... impressive. The rest of the companions were incredible ❤️
I swear I watch this video at least once a week. The mix quality is just insane, and I love the little differences here from the album versions of the songs.
Three of the best prog songs to have ever be written! These songs triggers emotions in me as an adult, that died when I was a kid. Bravo Djents. I almost love these songs as much as life itself!
This song would be an epic CorOS 2.0 announcement…forreal though when I knew QC was good enough for Plini and Intervals I knew it was good enough for me and that makes me warm inside
Agreed. Just saw Plini last week at the Fine Line in Minneapolis, and the mix was like this, just about perfect. Tesseract Portals is also one of the best live mixes I've ever heard.
"Warning: This video may potentially trigger seizures. Not because of the lights but because of the realization that the band sounds this good live."
😂spot on homie! Just saw em in SLC best show of my life! Got pics with all of em!

Plini is incredible, whomever mixed this, did a phenomenal job!
That would be the gentleman with the bass, Mr Simon Grove.
Yeah the mix is unreal
@@jg043 it was him
Simon Grove is the mastermind behind the mix! That's the guy playing bass in the video
Better than the album, and that's saying something
I love seeing Troy playing with Plini again. Talented drummer and such a nice guy too.
I was surprised to see that, too.
Simon Grove and Troy Wright!!! ABSOLUTE BEASTS
Unsung hero’s. So is Jake howsome lowe. He is a cleaner player than most of the bands he supports in my meaningless opinion.

Agree! These guys are so underrated! Not sure why they don’t sell out larger venues in America.
Mix was done by the Bassist Simon
The mix was as incredible as the performance! 👌🏼
Tesseract also has some amazing in studio performance too.
