i want to be plini when i grow up
Then you'd never know what amazing person you can become
Hey Jake, could you maybe do anything related to this record?
You’re quite the excellent musician yourself! So glad you are into plini haha
Btw you should make a theory video regarding some of the material! Would love it
Missing your lessons dude, how bout something cool taken from this?

So, when are we getting Coffee with Plini? :)

Plini's graphic designer: Soo, what would you like for your album's cover art?
Plini: mmm just throw some fish in there man
ANIMALS
Graphic designer: How many fishes?
Plini: *Y E S*
"and some birds. But one of 'em has to have a brownstone highrise on its back tho"
this comment made me laugh so much haha
As a graphic designer I have to say this is not graphic design, it is ART!
That title track is literally the audio form of serotonin.
We all know the album kicks ass. We expected nothing less from Mr Roessler-Holgate!! :D
I just wanna take a sec and point out that Chris Allison's drumming on this one is out of this world!!
Now all we need is Bilo 4 and we'll be satisfied with music releases for a long time to come ;)
Seriously, the drumming is unbelievable. The rhythms are so complex and creative on these tracks, yet just understandable enough to not leave the listener distracted or confused.
@@static_motion yeah bro

now we need Bilo 4 to complete the progressive triforce!
I’m excited for anyone who discovers Plini for the first time through this masterpiece

This is my first time listening and I'm amazed
I'm not far off. I've only heard dribs and drabs
Did anyone else notice that the bird moves? It's subtle, but every now and again, the goddamn bird moves. That's so dope.
And the shell make steam and the doors of school open and close

It's like Pink Floyd with 8 string metal (if you ask me)! I love it! First time I heard, I heard it again. And then again one more time! They are all just great players! :-D
That sax is glorious. And yeah, I also thought of Pink Floyd...
This album came out on the 1 year anniversary of my best friend's death, who had introduced me to Plini. I knew him for a long time, 20 years out of the 23 i'd lived at the time of his passing. I'll never begin to be able to describe how meaningful and moving this album, or any of Plini's music is. It'll always hold a particularly special place in my heart.
Plini's music touches me in all the ways I wish to be touched.

Such a great comment!!!
What I love about Plini is that he doesn't have to flex on every song and in every moment. He can just bring the melody and the movement and sit back and find greatness in the song. It's not a technical flurry constantly. It's why I think I find his music so peaceful. No doubt he can bring the speed and technicality to the song, but it's not always necessary. He serves the song instead of forcing the song to serve him. It's a beautiful thing.
Nick Johnston is this way as well.
And my man Andy timmons is wonderful with that also!
Spot on. I see that particularly exemplified in the song Pastures - it has this steady mellow groove and then that solo...THAT SOLO.
definitly has tycho vibes at times.

Came to the comments to see some love for Last Call. So beautiful 😍💯
Remember well, my lads! This is one of the best things we received in 2020!
This music is making me VERY happy to be alive. First time hearing Plini

Pan actually made me cry is was so good 🥺😭 Absolutely unreal talent!
I love this HUMAN. He brings such beautiful insight into to progressive music. Simon, Chris, Dave and everyone else -"what an effort Guys" !!. I'm blown away..
96% 'progressive' Music not very much so,..this guy definitely in the minority. 🎸🎶💞
Oh my God this is SO VERY PLINI .... If you were to ask me "how much MORE Plini could it possibly get?" and well the answer is NONE MORE! It could get no more Plini than this right here! It's the Pliniest of all that is Plini! All joking aside this is in my opinion the best and clearest example of the musical world that Mr. Plini is showing us. I can imagine all the 65+ year olds who made wild progressive jazz and other wild guitar music in the 70s hearing this and smiling because this is amazing and killer instrumental guitar driven music is ALIVE AND WELL IN 2020~

@@Majesty_MD His guitar also has the Harmonic Overtone on the G string 9th fret, which John's Ibanez had. I see that Plini hit that note quite alot in this album

its ridiculous
I thought it might be Troy Wright. This is insane drums
Chris is truly a fucking cannon
They drums had my attention on this album, and I'm a guy who usually ignores anything other than the guitar in the song

"Pan" & "The Glass Bead Game" are definitely my favorite. It just proves how Plini's evolved as an artist, just textures and ideas I've never heard before.
You forgot the 2nd track as well. You keep going back to it somehow
"I'll Tell You Someday" will go down as an all time classic
The mix is so clean wtf. And I'm listening to this on youtube. GG guys, you absolutely killed it.
Then you should try and have a listen to it on vinyl!
@@mortenhansen3455 one day I will absolutely try it
@@mortenhansen3455 Since this mix is great, I think vinyl should sound the same or worse. Vinyl has bass distortion and limited extension and inner groove distortion... Everything is very well mixed in this digital track, on contrary to what 99% of the industry does. Loudness war is destroying music...
They tend to release vinyl records with a normal mix and digital releases loud beyond what the media can support, heavily distorted, compressed and sounding like complete garbage all in order to profit more, because shouty music tends to grab more attention of the ignorant masses and generally the only ones who generally care about quality are the ones which purchase vinyl records. The thing is, the pressings have digital masters and vinyl sounds worse than digital recordings, which is another reason why to ruin the digital mastering, all in order to justify the expensive purchases of the also ignorant but more wealthy audiophiles. Vinyl is more limited and sounds worse than 16 bit 44.1khz PCM, but poor mixes sound bad on everything you can shove then into and good mixes sound good anyway, unless the media is really terrible.
I really love all the little animations in the cover art, it's so subtle you almost don't notice it. Especially the bubbles from the fish on the right
I was searching for this comment!! 🤩🙌
Had to make sure I wasn’t tripping
im a 130 years old and love this.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that even though almost nobody is going to look at it throughout the whole video they periodically changed things and animated the album art in this video?
I can't explain how many people I have shown this album, it's such a shame that people miss out on this talent due to it being considered "Heavy Metal, Djent, or Prog" because of a little distortion in the guitars 🙄
Everyone has their own taste, but to those who listen to this; your taste in music is the best 🙌
And most important of all: Plini has such a good taste that you can enjoy his djent/pro/distorted sound cos it has so much musicality
I don't really care if this genre is a niche, it's a golden treasure in my opinion 🙏
The best of the new generation of guitarists. Not just technically brilliant, but a fantastic composer of memorable beautiful music. Seems like a nice, humble geezer too. As a lifelong guitarist, I'm blown away by the note-choices. Just perfect. Shows you can be flashy AND tasteful. Love it! Whoever down-voted this need their ears removing.
Glass bead game is best song forsure
Papalillo, Pan, Glass Bead Game.....just fkn incredible.
This album has been on 100% rotation for me for the past 24hrs.
Oh boy, new Plini
That ending... The Glass Bead Game.. feels like a hug. Beautiful
Does anyone else get the sense that Plini is in love from this album???
BOY WHAT FUN IT IS TO PLAY A INSTRUMENT.
One of the best moments in my life was when Plini challenged me, that he would buy me a beer if I play the ending of the song on my concert with End of Scream standing (I'm a drummer), and he kept his promise... :D IMHO this is the best instrumental band in the world.
This album takes song writing to a whole different level. Definitely a masterpiece!
Amazing - looking forward to listening to this all over again!
Every single note, of which seem like millions, living its own organic life with a unique identity.
