Great ! I saw many vids no one talking bout the washers between the bearing and crankcase as showing on the manual ! Thank you ! I have one engine without washers last rebuilder didnt care about and has a big gap also loud noise for that error ! thank you !!
Great video tut.. My oil seal on clutch side got fried. I tried to replace it without splitting the cases, Really hard to do it. New gaskets are on the way and i'll split em soon by using your video! Thanks again!
Can I ask will my aprilia 125 with rotax 122 piston be the same as yours size if so what is it, as just bought the bike but don't know what size too rebuild with :) thanks a lot
Wreckz Gaming Hi, you have to measure your own cylinder bore in order to choose the right piston size. There is no reason that your engine is as deteriorated as mine.
Wreckz Gaming I didn't get what's your question, I think I replied in my previous message. Now if you want to know about my rebuild I can tell you, but this may have nothing to do with your engine. I measured my cylinder bore at 54.03mm so I put a 53.98mm piston because I wanted a 0.05mm play

Great guide, thanks, my engine has just blown up and needs re building, i am thinking of following your guide as it will save me a packet in labour, how long did it take to do?
paul mclaren Thanks, it took me 1 day to remove the engine from the frame and 2 days to dismantle it. It's approximately the same for the rebuild. If it's your first time it will probably take you twice more time. Good luck ;)
Hello, I also have to rebuild my engine and could you pls tell me how long your crankshaft was stored in the fridge and how long was the bearing in the oven? I also tried to get the bearing onto the crankshaft but it actually didn't fit.
Hi, I let the crankshaft one night in the fridge and 15 min in the oven for the bearing. Try another time and make sure the surface are clean before, use a little oil maybe.
can any 1 help me pls iv got 1994 sem aprillia rs rotax 123 (ingnition coil is broken) 4 wires red/green/black/and 2 into 1 red, white strip i changed coils but which wires go were? on High Performance Racing HT Ignition Coil thxxx
Romain Quiban Mhm... I'm rebuilding my RS 125 MPA atm... i had all bearings in the case... so i heated up the crankhousing and put the crank with the bearing on it in... Then i put all the gear in and it worked perfect... but as i screw the casing together with 10nw the crank wasnt spinable... so i had unscrewed the housingscrews a littlebit again... and iw was spinabke... so the f**king bearing pressure on the crank when i thighten the screws up and blocks the crank... so i ripped it all out agan and saw the crankbearing on clutchside was like 0,5 over the edge of its place... i have refitted it an will bild up all again but with loctite antiseize this time:D
Jeremi .Rietz you didn't have a gravel or something behind the bearing ? It's weird that the bearing blocked only 0,5 before the stop. In general it block at the beginning when the bearing is not very parallel with the hole axis. I'm glad it's resolved, but be careful with bearings you already removed!
Romain Quiban I mean the acrylic, plexiglass type wedges and bearing faces you used in these videos. What thickness did you use for yours? And do you still have all these bits like the metal plates etc
@@sparkxx64 Ah you don't talk about this specific video ! I think the thickness of plexiglas plate is 5mm. Yes I still have the specific extracting tools, but I can't take measurements if it's what you want because they are in a different city that the one I'm living now. Chears
Hey man, ist there any way that you can upload the Video with the bearing removal? I cant watch it anymore. Im really interested in that technique how you removed it with bread!
Bratu Paul Petrica Hi, the series of bearings are on the first frame of the video, and I think there is only one reference for the Rotax 122 crankshaft. Good luck for the re-assembly
i bought my barings on pjme and got koyo and the balancing bearing has plastic covers on one side. do you know wich side goes down. i think it's the plastic. great video by the way

no but i had a word with one of my mates (bikes previous owner) and he said he thinks its 53.97mm but he isnt 100% sure

SKF recommends a maximum of 110 degrees Celsius.

Still one question: wich side of the crankshaft sealings should face in wich direction?
Hi, the lip facing the clutch side like this : postimg.cc/image/9lv4dcqz5/
Romain Quiban thank you, and on the other side?
I think it’s the same, lip facing flywheel side

Why you aren't using antiseize like it says in the Engine Repair Manual?
If you look closely I use WD40 when I put the bearings in their housing.
Romain Quiban Is WD-40 an Anti Seize?
Jeremi .Rietz No, but it worked for me with WD40 :p

@sparkxx64 no I keep it :) but you can ask to small metal milling company, they may be happy to do it for you at a good price
So I guess it's impossible to change the right crankshaft seal without removing the crankshaft?
Yes !
Romain Quiban wow thanks for the quick answer
How long did you leave your bearings in the freezer for?
I left them one night
Romain Quiban cheers I’m using your video for my engine rebuild. I’m using all koyo bearings wonnser con rod and piston wish me luck haha

When do i know if i have to add washer when installing crankshaft?
Get the engine Manual... helps alot ... there are some free pdf manuals around the web... u have to add under 66.92 i think...
ok thanks

why do you freeze some of the parts?
Miksu : its for thermic dilatation, heating bearings up to 150degrees was not enough
bro can give the sizes for the bearings
