easy way to install engine. take a wooden batton and put it across the frame above the motor bay . the take a rope or even better a ratchet strap and loop it round the batton and with the motor under the motor bay ,loop it round the exhaust port and over the batton and then round the inlet port. now complete the rope loop or strap and just pull the engine up.
Bro the hole thru frame is for putting engine in takes all weight of swinging arm mate ....bar plus two axle stands it's a one man job putting engine in try it
Hi Vossi. I agree, Pneumatic valves are better than the original cable operated models. But I’ll probably keep mine original until it breaks or needs changing. Thanks for your comment.👍👍
Such a clean job, you make it seem almost too easy! Do you plan to show how to connect the oil pump, carb and how to tune the carb propperly ? I am having some trouble with the 34mm DellOrto that came with my 2007 RS125. And I am too scared to disassemble it myself. ..first bike and first time doing any maintenece job on a vehicle by myself lol Greeting from Coratia and keep up the amazing videos ! 😁
Greetings from Australia Zvonimir. Thank you for your comment and support! In part 3 of the top end rebuild series I do show you how I refill the oil lines. I’m editing the video as we speak. Hope to publish it on the weekend - all being well. I have not made a carb tune video yet but it is certainly on my list of things to do. My carb is only 28mm so the information will be slightly different, but the same in principle. Good to hear you have bought an Aprilia. They are fun bikes!! Cheers Tom👍
@@tomdidit4216 so cool ! I am actually amazed that YOU bought an Aprilia waaaay down there in Australia ?! Never even knew they even tried to seriously market them and sell outside Europe (Italy and the UK beeing prime target markets for beginner motorcycles). I doubt it's a common bike over there. Do you get aksed about it a lot ? In my case, every time I roll up with it somewhere, I get comments like "oh yes as a kid I had the old round one" and "the old one looked better and went faster" all the damn time hahahah 😂
Hey Tom! Loving your videos and the effort you put into both the videos and your works! Everything looks spotless! Do you mind sharing where you got hold of the engine spec manual and all the other information? The coolant on my RS seems to constantly be building up pressure even after a flush and refill, this happens over the course of a week or so of riding. The mechanic I tend to send my bike for servicing to mentioned I might have a head gasket leak, though he's reluctant to do the replacement even though I offered to get the spares, so I'm thinking I may have to get to doing it myself. I also thought I should just go ahead with a top end rebuild while I'm at it since it's kinda due for one. But the piston sizes are leaving me confused. With no room for error on this, how does one confirm that the replacement piston size will work? Is the only way to open it up and do a measurement then order the parts after confirming the size? Hope to hear from you! You're one of the few valuable resources left for this soon to be extinct bike breed.

I think coolant is going into my piston just a tad as I think my cylinder head where been skimm its not setting right with the o ring after 10 miles from top end I get wet burn smell from my exhaust and the leak on bottom my gear box
Hi there Juan. The letter B represents the size of the cylinder when the bike was new. Your cylinder may have worn to a sightly larger size, and a slightly different piston size may now suit your cylinder? My best advice is to get an engineer to measure it and choose the correct piston to suit. For piece of mind, I’ll take a look at the size of my Wossner piston and let you know asap. Hope this helps. And thanks for your comment.
@@tomdidit4216 Thank you for answering, my cylinder is used like your motorcycle, it has about 8000 km, it was disassembled and has been stored for a while, the piston has been lost and now I don't know what size it had, that's why I ask you, I think in The box where the piston comes says the reference or measure, I would appreciate as a reference which one you have, although I will make sure to take a specialist, thank you very much for your help
Hi, I also equipped my bike with a wossner piston, i changed it almost a year ago, it was it’s first Piston change and used a 53,98 , now i’ve got to put a new one as i’ve done 16000 km and i will also put a 53,98 but the next one will probably be a 53,99
Hello there. Thanks for your comment. I’ve come to realise there are lots of different approaches when breaking in an engine. In my opinion, a brand new engine should be kept around half throttle for the first few hours/heat cycles. Then new oil and it’s good to go. For top end only, I do one heat cycle, then an average ride and that’s it. Thanks again Tom
@@tomdidit4216 cheers I have a mk1 and 2 mk 2s got the first mk 2 in 2002 as yet only ever get 6000miles out of a piston and every run is is different ... I hate running them in
Hi Ole. Thank you for your message. As you may know I recently installed a new Wossner in my bike. It’s my opinion that they are a premium piston and one of the best on the market. You notice the build quality straight away. I note however, at the time of publishing this video I have been told by other informed subscribers that the ProX piston gives a higher compression reading than the Wossner? I’m not sure if this claim is accurate? Long story short, you can’t go wrong with either a ProX or Wossner (in my opinion) Cheers mate.
Thank you for your helpfull answer! I will need a new piston for my exc 300 and look for honest opinions for woessner and vertex Pistons. I think my research so fahr will end in buying a woessner. Great video quality :) I promise you will love the rs125 its a great experience to drive a two stroke :)

Thank you Tom for a superb video. So much quality detail. I will use this when I work on my 2012 model. Greetings from Wollongong.

Do you happen to have a copy of the manual you are using?
Thanks
Hi Stuart.
I only have a paper copy for now.
I will scan it and see about uploading the file to my Tom Did It facebook page.

Thank you for your comment Viktor👍
I’ll have to check the manual.

Piston rings are the same ? Doesn’t matter which you put first and second ? Thank you
Hello Manosrool
It doesn’t matter what ring goes too and bottom on a Wossner, however make sure the writing on each ring is facing up👍

I usually do 1 stationary heat cycle. Then a gentle ride. Then, finally, ride as normal👍

Hi Trained To Go.
I got the ProX top end gasket set from eBay $56.
The Wossner piston was from a Sydney based company called F1 Moto.
Hi Tom i wanted to ask where can i buy rings for the wossner piston as i’ve been looking but didn’t find anything, any suggestions?
Hi Eloi
Sorry for my late response.
I’d suggest contacting PJME in the UK. They always have this sort of thing.
Good luck.
