Came here to get an Idea of the Engine, stayed for the Music 🔥
Hola podrías poner las medidas bien se entienden los taladros pero faltan medidas en primer utensilio gracias
So cool, man! I already made a rotax 122 "rebuild" for my aprilia RS 125 00' Good job !

Can you do this to put the berring inside guessing you can just don't torque down more then it's in
Hello, would i have to take off the flywheel if i wanted to check the alternators wires?
Hi, howmuch should the piston ring end gap be? The manual states 0.05 - 0.2mm but that seems a bit less to me.
Is clutch basket suppose to come off that easy? Mine seems stuck!?
There in no vids from rs4 2012. Dammit. We cannot budge it.
Is it possible to wire a rev counter to this engine
How many bearing do need for my rebuild and what bearing can you let me know please many thanks
Can you change the piston without dropping and unplugging the whole engine?
Never mind I saw the answer down below on another comment.
This work must be avoided if you want to lose the interference between the crankcase and the bearing. The correct way is to heat the crankcase to expand the aluminum and thus extract the bearing.
Thats crazy man👌
can this be used with other bikes too
Great ! I saw many vids no one talking bout the washers between the bearing and crankcase as showing on the manual ! Thank you ! I have one engine without washers last rebuilder didnt care about and has a big gap also loud noise for that error ! thank you !!
Hi, how are those needle cages at the gearshafts secured in place? Is it normal if the ends of one of those needle cages dont touch without squeezing them together?
I see from your video that you appear to be building the engine up indoors…what type of inducement do you use to stop the wife kicking off and ultimately being in a bad mood for the rest of the week?
I was all by myself in my student room, problem solved ;)
Nice!
SKF recommends a maximum of 110 degrees Celsius.
only gluten free bread?
It may work with gluten-free bread, but it is better with normal bread, because gluten make cohesion in bread
@@romainquiban5469 do you have any experience with replacing your bearings with Polyamide cage bearings? It's a little more expensive but should make running noise Lowe
@@Tiwey I never tried, I’m curious to know if it really reduces noises
@@romainquiban5469 I will try them out. If there is a noticeable difference, I will come back to you. There are sadly no reports or reviews of these bearings. They seem great. I learned that changing the piston needle bearing to Polyamide already reduces vibrations
What is the tolerance to need washers? 4:00
Hi, measurand between: - 66.72 - 66.92 mm need 0.2 mm washer - 66.93 - 67.06 mm don't need washer postimg.cc/64G3295r Normally, if neither housing, shaft or con rod have been replaced you don't need to change washer
@@romainquiban5469 thanks👌🏻
@@romainquiban5469 where are you from?
@@LNH3 from france, used to ride this bike around Nantes
@@romainquiban5469 that it is normal that l can put the bearing on the clutch side on the vibrator without heating à little even remise it and put it back unlike the one on the ignition side Which one put on it longer goatee . Text photo for translation
New rings on an older piston?
I think i kept the same rings
Oh 👍 Do you know what a good squish measurement is. Also a good compression limit on a piston?
Hi there. I’m currently doing a rs125 project. One quick question you may be about to help me with. Is if you skip this video to 4 minutes 44 seconds, you’ll notice in the bottom right hand side of the screen there is a tube/ hose that comes from the engine. I don’t know or understand what this is. Could you help me please
Hi, the other extremity of this tube goes into the protective cover of the pinion sprocket. Actually I don’t know the purpose of this connection between sprocket and flywheel housing. I’ll be happy to know it
@Paul Mickiewicz hey thanks for this information, good to know ;) oil on rear tyre.. doesn’t seem great !
I use a hammer
it should be quicker indeed :D
Bread works too
And what thickness were those Perspex wedges and bearing wedges please
Hi, what do you call Perspex wedges ?
Romain Quiban I mean the acrylic, plexiglass type wedges and bearing faces you used in these videos. What thickness did you use for yours? And do you still have all these bits like the metal plates etc
@@sparkxx64 Ah you don't talk about this specific video ! I think the thickness of plexiglas plate is 5mm. Yes I still have the specific extracting tools, but I can't take measurements if it's what you want because they are in a different city that the one I'm living now. Chears
Romain Quiban I was actually going to ask if you’d sell them to me and ship to UK?
@sparkxx64 no I keep it :) but you can ask to small metal milling company, they may be happy to do it for you at a good price
Hi mate great videos. Do you still have those particular metal plates/special tools you had made?
😦👍 ¡Excelente vídeo!
i think that you forget to put cranckshaft seal at flyingwheel side, anyway nice video man...
I got lot of questions to ask...can we email or watsapp?
Pete Rock & CL Smooth!!
In what did u soak this bread?
I didn’t soak it, it’s bread that I have previously used for others blind bearings removal. So it seems wet because of the residual oil in the bearings !
Hiya- I have a question about your tools. How can I contact you ?
Hi. What is the minimum and maximum size between the piston and the head should be?
You are one gifted technician! Bravo
Awesome video, who needs all those special tools when, With a bit of imagination and talent you make your own, bravo!
Thanks :)
bro can give the sizes for the bearings
Might get an Aprilia RS50 2003? Can I remove the crankshaft and then pull the whole cylinder off, then get the piston out and remove the Conrod with the crankshaft connected and then replace the piston and cylinder?
I’m not sure I understand. You don’t need to remove the crankshaft nor the conrod to replace your piston and cylinder
Romain Quiban forgot to say, it’s seized 😂
Romain Quiban I forgot**
Klawz ah okay, well theoretically you cannot remove the crankshaft before removing the cylinder. It’s because you have to split the crankcase to reach the crankshaft and both part of the crankcase are linked through the stud bolts that maintain in position the cylinder. Then, maybe you will have to use a grinder to disassemble your cylinder. Good luck ;)
Romain Quiban would you say it’s worth it? The bike is £350 and that’s the only thing wrong with it, was thinking I could lift the cylinder up a bit then put a thick piece of metal in the gap and then hammer the piston down and then repeat until it’s all the way out
i love this Rotax 123 motor!
it's the rotax 122..
Thank you
mi risulta che non abbia messo la guarnizione tra cilindro e testata.
thanks alooooooot!!!!!
Unbelivable... TNX
You came to India???? Wow I watched your aprilia rs125 restoration videos . It's my favorite bike, but sadly it's not available in india
Hey! Yes I was in India. That’s too bad for the Aprilia Rs, maybe it will overheat in India because of high temperature and constant low speed ! :p
Romain Quiban Yeah because, it's a track loving machine. It's doesn't like obstructions or traffic. Do you still have it??? You are from Italy ?? I guess! Hope you enjoyed in India
I had to sold it unfortunately :/ I’m from France, and there is still a bunch of RS. For young people the max cc they can have is 125cc, so this type of powerful moto is what they are looking for
Still one question: wich side of the crankshaft sealings should face in wich direction?
Hi, the lip facing the clutch side like this : postimg.cc/image/9lv4dcqz5/
Romain Quiban thank you, and on the other side?
I think it’s the same, lip facing flywheel side
So I guess it's impossible to change the right crankshaft seal without removing the crankshaft?
Yes !
Romain Quiban wow thanks for the quick answer
Awesome videos! Were these see through pieces made from plexiglass?
Yess
Why did you take out the gears? Can i get away with leaving them inside, while replacing crankshaft and its bearings?
I replaced most of the gearbox bearings. But yes I think it’s possible to let them inside while changing crankshaft
How often is it recommended to replace gearbox bearings and how often is it recommended to replace gears and other gearbox components of Aprilia RS 125? Manufacturer recommends engine bottom replacement at 32k km, as far as i know.
Gears are gearbox lifetime except the plastic one for the water pump that you have to change every 16000km. I don’t know about bearings. I replaced them because I could hear noises from gearbox at deceleration.
Hi, I have a choice of 3 thicknesses of gaskets...used the thickest one and my compression is to low, should I try the thinner one I’m scared of the piston hitting!
Well you should measure your squish to know that ;) If you still have the original con rod there is no problem to put the thinner gasket.
its quite late to say it now. but litering out your engine removes the need to check the squish. and its more precise. all you gotta do is calculate the "geometric compression"
How long did you leave your bearings in the freezer for?
I left them one night
Romain Quiban cheers I’m using your video for my engine rebuild. I’m using all koyo bearings wonnser con rod and piston wish me luck haha
Enjoy your rebuild ;) I’m happy to help
how did you protect the shaft seal from heat? cant see what it is. thank you!
It’s just pieces of random cardboard
