That part of Ellie killing that infected dude was different for some reason. The way the infected looked at Ellie, it was almost like some part of his humanity was trying to connect with her despite not being able to talk.

This episode punched my heart and then kicked it when it was on the floor. And I loved it. Not everything has to be action packed escapes and scares. This was a fantastic way to bring back what's left of us as humans in a world that doesn't leave time for it. It was beautiful.
i always thought it was heavily implied in the game that bill and frank were lovers, what with the way bill was a bit hesitant when he said "we were partners" and his reaction when seeing frank's corpse. i assumed they ended in really bad terms which would explain why frank was so bitter in his Unalive note. the way the show changed that was really good imo and i enjoyed how their story played out even though it was sad at the end!
No implication, really. They absolutely were lovers. Bill was hesitant, yes, because the game came out in 2013. A man Bill’s age would easily be reluctant to give up that kind of information back then. Ellie also swipes some gay porn from Bill’s church safe house, to confirm his sexuality for the player.
An absolutely beautiful example of how love can persevere it's important as a juxtaposition to the relationship between Joel, and Ellie that is going to develop.
LOVED this episode! It's a fantastic and natural adaptation and expansion of Bill and Frank's relationship PLUS beautiful context for Joel and Tess along with some great development for Ellie. Easily the best episode thus far.
the addition to bill and franks story in this episode was great. i was really holding back tears from how great the two actors portrayed the evolution of their relationship over those years. cant wait to see what other masterful additions and changes the show has from the game.
@@bilk6504 it could still be ms. Men tend to be diagnosed later as they ignore symptoms and don’t get a formal dx when younger. Being in the apocalypse and not going to regular appts would add to this.
I’m thinking Parkinson’s because that onset usually later in life than MS. Also Bill cutting up Frank’s food and cup with lid & straw The meds as well, there are meds that can control the tremors, for a while. Frank probably knew that medication was not working as well as it use to , & always a possibility that they’d run out. Frank didn’t want to become a burden to Bill, so he wanted to end his life on his terms, before the disease progressed to the point not being able to do anything for himself or to the point of dementia
Episode 3 was heartbreaking. I cried so much. It was one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in a long time. I knew the show would be good but I really didn’t expect it to be this good.
God, this episode wrecked me in the most beautiful ways ever. I still can't stop myself from crying when I think about it or just see a screencap from it. The Last of Us is my favorite franchise in gaming and I had no idea I would love the TV show this much. As an amateur screenwriter, I hope I can write something on par with this episode someday.
I read that he wasn't originally going to do it because his schedule was full but his wife, Megan Mullally, read the script and told him he had to do it because it was such a great part. They are a great team.
one thing you didn't mention is the fact the song playing at the end of the episode was released in 1970, and this translates to new cargo as it shows the shot of joel and ellie in the truck. just something i thought was interesting.
What an absolutely beautiful episode!!! I can’t believe the amount of negativity surrounding this episode saying it does nothing to further the story. Furthering the story is exactly what this episode does. Understanding that humanity can have a reason to fight to survive for more important reasons other than just living. What is living if people can’t care for one another. The creators of this show did a fabulous job with this and I loved it. Now it’s time to get into some serious action against the infected !!!
at first i thought okay maybe this is all AFTER he helps joel and Frank goes Oh bill remember that sassy little girl, but no and i like that in the game frank died and i never got to see what happened to bill but i think id rather see bill be happy and live his life then to see some Bloater fight with joel and just some Gay p0rn mag. Rest in peace Frank and Bill
My thoughts exactly! At first I was like....what the fuck?! Really? Then I thought it turned out to be a good episode, and damn sure sad. Man I hope they don't drop the ball on this one cause so far I think they're doing a really good job with the show. I think so far they've hit a home run with their portrayal of the characters(despite a bit of changes). I didn't know how to feel about Ellie at first simply cause I thought they could've found someone that looked a lil bit more like her but honestly as far as mannerisms and personality is concerned this actress does a great job I think....I feels like Ellie lol
me too! I'm gay, and sometimes I hate it when they inject LGBT themes on everything without thought (it can definitely hurt our cause if done wrong). But this was perfectly executed, I think it made all types of people cry. Very well done.
@@Davao420 agree! When I first watched it it really caught me off guard, mainly cause it deviates drastically from the story in the actual game. The dynamic/chemistry between Bill and Frank shown in their backstory etc really was moving. Straight, white, man here and I legit had tears in my eyes watching these two guys share their last moments together lol. I personally couldn't imagine being in a situation like that and it is truly heart-breaking. I agree it was very well done. Although Bill & Frank's "journey" might seem insignificant to the story as a whole, if the writers were merely trying to make the audience feel more connected and empathetic with the characters I think they greatly succeeded in doing so. Good addition to the show I think.
16:13 Craig Mazin mentioned in the official podcast that they didn't want to specify the disease Frank had, but it was something along the lines of MS or ALS.
@Arthur Balls 🙈 tbh when you mention Viserys death. In my opinion I'd got bored by then I was waiting for another time jump for about 20 years forward when he was just a head on a torso getting pushed around on a trolley. 🙈 everytime you thought that was it for him they dragged it out til another timelie and another episode.
I know this episode has been disappointing for some, but I do think it’s going to serve a very key purpose in the show’s themes. The focus of this show is on love, whether romantic or familial or otherwise. But also on its dangers. Anyone familiar with the game and its ending will also be familiar with that aspect. What we’re seeing here is a bit of a micro version of that overarching theme.Bill being initially reticent to Frank but eventually opening himself up, being more self-sacrificial. He turns his grief at the prospect of losing Frank onto himself at the end, so they can die together. No one else is hurt by it, ultimately, but we all know that isn’t going to be the case for everyone overcome by the joy and pain of connection with another human being. Edit: Typo
The message in the letter from Bill regarding him and Joel being the type of people who are needed to protect others comes back devastatingly in the story "That's why men like you and me are here. We've got a job to do and god help any motherf**ker who stands in our way." Bill's love for Frank did make him dangerous to anyone other than Frank. His purpose was to protect Frank and allow him a safe life in a dangerous world. The viewers have already seen a glimpse of what Joel's capable of, with his bare hands, when he has someone to protect. What lengths are he willing to go to when he lets a person into his heart?
Yeah people who are new to the show wont understand the main theme of the show. Its not just your everyday zombie series where the main guys go ham killing zombies lol.
@@boss_niko - Some people are beginning to grasp it. Remember, you had the entire game, and maybe Part II to comprehend the overall theme of the story. Give the series time to bring the viewers up to speed. Love isn't just something that can lead to devastation. It's also the light in the darkness. It depends on what you do with it-- what you allow it to do to you.
I can’t wait for the episode where Joel teaches Ellie to use a gun! That moment in the game showed that Joel actually cares for Ellie and doesn’t just see her as “cargo”.
Liked the episode but kinda bummed out that I didn’t get to see this bills and Ellie’s interactions towards eachother but hey at least I got the game for that
I honestly loved this episode. They turn a side story that ended in spite and made it a bittersweet story. And while it deviates from the game story, it kept one of the core themes of the game: love.
Bill honestly lived his best life during the apocalypse. That’s what he was designed for and he’d have lived a worse less satisfying life if everything didn’t go to crap. He’d never have come out of the closet(probably) and never met Frank.
Am I the only one who noticed the letter (probably Frank's suicide note to Bill) when Ellie picked up that gun. I'm intrigued that the show didn't show the letter, it gives a sense of privacy. Respect +
Even Craig and Druckman said it, if it was one episode the fans would question it would be this one because it sticks far out from the game and focus on Ellie/Joel. Me personally I think it was a beautiful way to build their story compared to what gave small clues in the game. I think at the end it, the episode also blends in to why Joel accepts to accompany Ellie to Tommy at the end. (When he found Bill dead and reading the letter).
I liked the episode. Series’s need episodes for exposition, to give the viewer time to develop attachments to characters or to develop an opinion on another character based on the history told. This really told the story of Joel and how he will develop the love of a daughter in Ellie only to lose her before he is ready to let her grow as she grows up. Bill being shut off from caring for anyone else, just like Joel. But then had Frank come into his life and made him realize he could love. The biggest issue is the modern trend for the episodes being so expensive that they only do 10 or less episodes. You don’t have enough time to tell your story with enough exposition to develop feelings about the characters. That is the problem that Disney is having with live action Star Wars series. Not enough time for anyone to start to care about anyone, other than a cute little alien.
I can’t describe the emotions I felt. It was beautiful, moving and heartbreaking. Where we expected another gritty, raw and intense episode in a disgusting world.. we got a beautiful and poignant love story that expands the lore and characters we love in the best way possible. Wow.
It was funny.. The whole episode I kept waiting for the turn in their relationship like in the game. Even when Frank got himself out of bed and into the wheelchair I thought this’s is where Frank was going to leave Bill (which I thought was a little odd). So I was completely caught off guard when Frank told Bill his plans for his last day. What a great episode!
7:14 the evacuation notice from the game feels more real as everything is rushed, temporary, so it's on a trailer, in the hbo show, it is nicely installed in the town center.
I wonder if there are like signs like that already prepared in storages spread across countries. Abit scary, but also I guess goverment needs to prep for the unexpected (and Im not talking about litteraly zombie outbreaks)
@Benny Carlsson Nah, the elites have prepared their bunkers and will be in them. By the time "we" figure it out, we won't have a chance. At least we'll be entertained by the people who believed that they were in the club and are devastated to find out they're not.
@@SuperYxskaft evacuation signs? Sure there are. But in places where there have been evacuations before and disasters where surviving people wish there had been an evacuation order. I doubt most governments would prepare for something that might happen. Why put in the effort unless they get something out of it?
17:50 The dead flowers are Chrysanthemums. You can see yellow & red mums earlier in the episode when Frank is painting. In parts of the world, yellow mums symbolize death & red ones symbolize love. I thought that was a really sweet & subtle touch. I only noticed bc my mom loves mums & usually has them decorating her house in the fall, so I assumed they were annuals. But they are in fact perennials, so it's possible for them to come back every year
I’m an ICU nurse. It seems possible that he could have cancer BUT it’s more likely to be ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). It causes nervous system dysfunction and eventually renders you unable to walk, eat and breathe on your own. It does not have a cure, is progressive and has a life expectancy of 2-5 years once diagnosed. Unfortunately it is an awful way to die unless you go the hospice route for comfort measures
This episode is still very good in my opinion because the actor playing Joel and Ellie really start hitting their stride and really do seem like Ellie and Joel. I mean they were still good in episode 1 and 2 but I wasn't feeling them as characters until this episode.
Sorry to be "that" guy, but neither 28 Days Later or The Last of Us has "zombies"... But I get it - 28 Days Later (to its credit as a PHENOMENAL movie) changed what we think of as zombies 😉
i loved this episode, theres no point copying game scene to scene cuz we have already lived that story but this show takes a different turn and i love it. this ep was a work of art i love how they choose to make this ep they choose the artistic way the music and all it was just perfect. (i am not gay btw)
So many people calling this meaningless as if the last of us isn't just about people trying to survive. The game was action packed because it had to stay engaging constantly. This is honestly my favorite episode so far. I love our main characters, but I don't mind getting to know some other folks along the way, more like the world war z book, which I also loved.
I think that this change makes complete sense. Game Bill allowed for a video game storyline. Show Bill was a complex and dynamic character who lived, loved, and lost. Made me love this show even more.
This episode served zero purpose and all we got was a rusty car. Way too much filler and made me uncomfortable as hell at times. I already know this was coming but so much of it? Come on.
@@Horns897 gotta disagree. Maybe it’s not the storyline we got originally, but it’s a story that shows how humanity continues even in the darkest times. Maybe it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is objectively a beautiful story
The only thing that took me out of the episode was when Joel says that there’s not much ammo to find for his Ar. 5.56/223 is one of the most common rifle rounds that you can find everywhere. Other then that it was a W episode
Except, you know, 20 years into an apocalypse with the military Gathering up all the resources, including ammo, food, water, and all sorts of other stuff, along with scavengers, Raiders, and other survivors. Yeah, there's not much ammo left for that type of gun
@@calijack2006 I think his point was that if 5.56/223 (one of the most common rounds) can't be found, then what's the point of keeping any gun because you're not gonna be any more likely to find ammo for ANY TYPE OF GUN 🤷🏽♂ (Correct me if I'm wrong OP 😆). I would agree though - it would seem strange to drop the rifle and keep the revolver that was what, a .38 special?... even given that you could shoot .38 or 9mm with it, you'd be just as likely to find that ammo as the AR 👍🏽
@@GOBIAS.INDUSTRIES. Maybe, I think firing rifles instead of pistols for much of the last twenty years is feasible because everyone wants to have the firepower and is more likely to miss using them at range, which is where most of your fights will be happening, so they're also chewing through ammo. Not to mention the insane amount of rounds that had to be gone through to kill the hordes of infected in the beginning. Pistol ammo being weak and unused for the majority of that time, is what I'm thinking.
@@pogtuber5146 That's a solid point, but it still seems like a strange reason to leave a firearm behind... I don't know - I'm just not one to leave a gun behind unless someone was prying it from my cold dead hands 😆 Also, even without ammo, an AR-15 is a helluva melee weapon! 👍🏽
@@GOBIAS.INDUSTRIES. fair point, besides he did say he still had a couple of bullets and he was going to Bill's so it seems like he could maybe have expected to find some ammo for it. Even if he only got 10 shots, those would be some long range high powered shots and then he could just throw it away... because if it's that hard to find ammo then why bother keeping it in a storage case with only a couple of rounds?
lol Ikr. I didn't cry, but my eyes were watery. We kind of know what's coming with the brothers, Henry and Sam, too. That part was the worst for me in the game. I remember being so sad lol
Actually though. I get that it’s frustrating to not get to see this part of the game come to life, but this episode is honestly so good story wise. I absolutely loved it. It also makes sense because the game has to keep the player engaged through constant action but a show is supposed to keep you engaged through the story.
@@billy1513 absolutely, its like the episode 1 change where there is no hunt down of robert. That bit of the game was meant to be a tutorial. Don't need a tutorial in a tv show. So far i have really enjoyed the changes from game to show.
For those wondering about why a full episode was dedicated to a gay couple… well in 2003, the America Bill and Frank lived in, a gay couple being out in public, let alone on TV, would never happen. That’s why they never “got married” until the end of their lives. That’s how a lot of people lived their love until Gay marriage was legalized.
Clearly, the story would need to be changed to transition from game to theater. My main complaint has always been the casting. Not to say the actors aren't talented, just miscast. Marlene and Tess were both phenomenal. I looked forward to the bantering between Elle and Bill. I am in no way disappointed by the story rewrite. I cried and I bet I wasn't alone. Seeing Bill as this fully fleshed out character was evocative. Seeing Frank as someone other then a user was redeeming. This is academy award writing and acting.

Frank had ALS (which is an umbrella term for several related incurable, terminal neurological disorders), not cancer (also an umbrella term of course). I've seen both up close in real life. And my informed guess is that it was ALS.
2 small things I noticed;- 1) The song on the radio at the end of episode 1 seemed to focus on the words "I'm taking a ride with my best friend" which was sent by Bill. It mirrored Bill and Frank dying - Bill was taking a ride with his best friend... 2) If you look carefully at the creeping fungus in the opening credits, there are brown globs of fungus depicting townships of uninfected scattered around the USA.
Watching videos like these are a new way of enjoying shows because you get so much not interesting information, like I knew the stone stacking was for Tess but I didn't know it's called a Carin. While watching the episode I was like I'll get the full info tomorrow when I watch that video lol
It still amazes me that the show runners took the spark of the Bill and Frank story from the game and re-imagined it to one of the greatest TV episodes ever. Extraordinary.
They did a good job on this. Bill was always one of my favorite characters and I always thought they did him dirty in the game. It was nice to see him have humility and some sort of closure.
I'm surprised some people are complaining about the episode cause we saw two gay guys kissing and making out and say it's too woke Im here like "you guys do realize Ellie's also gay and kissed girls in the games right? Twice now, she even did the deed with one."
The issue is that Hollywood keeps attempting to normalize LGBTQ+ lifestyles while attempting to destroy the idea of regular family units or natural male/female relationships. Sure, everyone should be able to love whomever they choose...to each their own. But promoting it to normalize it in the minds of young people is disgusting. The majority of people don't like having queer love/sex shoved down their throats & most heterosexual couples hate Hollywood's continuous attempts at indoctrinating their children into what they view as woke perversions. Do what you like in your own life, but don't expect others to support what’s unnatural to them, especially when it comes to trannies. Many of the men parading around as women are pedos, some of which are registered sex offenders. Ultimately, the LGBTQ+ agenda is being used to normalize pedophilia.
@@maeannengo4908 You're entitled to your opinion, but there's nothing natural about sex between two males or two females. Their bodily parts don't fit together for a reason.
I don't think Frank had cancer. My guess was either MS or Parkinson's, although it also could have been ALS. Not that it REALLY matters, but it was something that took away his ability to walk and other basic motor functions.
I've never played the games so I don't have any quarrels with this episode. It was extremely sad and hopeful at the same time. I understand how people might be upset that a character was changed so much though.

Honestly during the "hehehehehehehe" I just started sobbing, full body sobs. I don't think a post apocalyptic show has had such a reaction from me.
Try "Train to Busan"...but bring tissues.
@@stuartcampbell4626 yea, the climax is crazy sad
the addition to bill and franks story in this episode was great. i was really holding back tears from how great the two actors portrayed the evolution of their relationship over those years. cant wait to see what other masterful additions and changes the show has from the game.
I don’t think frank had cancer, I think it represented MS due to his loss of motor function and there not being a cure before the event.
Yeah, I thought MS myself (while the wife though ALS), but I guess it's all the same when it's incurable anyway 🤷🏽♂
I too thought ms as an ms’er myself but I saw someone suggest Parkinson’s.
@@staceydorton6577 it is parkinsonism, because MS happens mostly in younger ages
Bill and Frank's relationship in a lonely world and their ending both made me happy and super depressed, existential.

Episode 3 was heartbreaking. I cried so much. It was one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in a long time. I knew the show would be good but I really didn’t expect it to be this good.
I agree!
Also, Bill has been all alone for 4 years. No doubt he’d feel something for a normal person. This episode was truly heartbreaking and warming ❤
A lot of people surprised Bill is gay but forget in the game Ellie found a gay corn magazine and showed it to Joel in the car 😂
Bill was always gay
@florentineeffect that's why I said he had a gay corn magazine but a lot of so called fans claiming they had no idea
I love some good ol corn on corn action big thick stocks. Yummy

Nick Offerman playing Bill was probably the best casting choice in any medium since Heath Ledger as the Joker - that man IS Bill!
Good point!
Was a little subtle, but in the beginning of Bill's post apocalyptic set up the songs are from the 60s.
I was honestly terrified that this was going to turn out to all be in Bill’s head and he’d still be alive when Joel and Ellie got there.
I thought for sure frank was going to murder the guy after dinner the first night
at first i thought okay maybe this is all AFTER he helps joel and Frank goes Oh bill remember that sassy little girl, but no and i like that in the game frank died and i never got to see what happened to bill but i think id rather see bill be happy and live his life then to see some Bloater fight with joel and just some Gay p0rn mag. Rest in peace Frank and Bill
Was rolling my eyes in the beginning but nearly in tears towards the end. Well done with the story 👏🏼
Exactly! Lol it all happened so fast in the beginning but end up playing out into a really beautiful story
@@terrancepemberton4648 Right!? the story will move anyone who has a heart. It's an awesome exercise in empathy
16:13 Craig Mazin mentioned in the official podcast that they didn't want to specify the disease Frank had, but it was something along the lines of MS or ALS.
This was the first piece of media I’ve seen in a few years that made me openly weep. Good good shit.
Missed King Viserys' final episode in HotD, or Luke's appearance and Din & Grogu's farewell then.
So well written, bawled my eyes out several times but highlighted to Joel that his new purpose is to help Ellie
@@boss_niko for real I love how we've only seen a handful of zombies on-screen so far.
I can’t wait for the episode where Joel teaches Ellie to use a gun! That moment in the game showed that Joel actually cares for Ellie and doesn’t just see her as “cargo”.
Liked the episode but kinda bummed out that I didn’t get to see this bills and Ellie’s interactions towards eachother but hey at least I got the game for that
i was looking forward to it, but what we got, i loved it so much more
I honestly loved this episode.
They turn a side story that ended in spite and made it a bittersweet story. And while it deviates from the game story, it kept one of the core themes of the game: love.
Excellent example of what a good adaptation should aspire to be. Excellent story telling and character development.
Bill honestly lived his best life during the apocalypse. That’s what he was designed for and he’d have lived a worse less satisfying life if everything didn’t go to crap. He’d never have come out of the closet(probably) and never met Frank.
NOW THIS IS HOW YOU ADAPT A GAME TO A SHOW!!!!!!!
This whole episode was just about humanity love and compassion: what will ultimately save us all
And the unstoppable force of time that will eventually get us all.
@@SuperYxskaft and still we can embrace it with no pain
Love the running gag of the Simpsons hating Arby's (which I love)
Your breakdowns are perfect. Love them. Great episode again, I don't know why some people had a problem with it, with great story telling.
The whole episode was like the starting sequence of up but much darker and much more emotional.
What an incredible episode!!! I’m definitely watching now.
This episode was as perfect as the last two. Quite possibly my favourite to date.
I was crying non stop during the mid part of the episode. I didn t fought the last of us would be so emotional
I can’t describe the emotions I felt. It was beautiful, moving and heartbreaking.
Where we expected another gritty, raw and intense episode in a disgusting world.. we got a beautiful and poignant love story that expands the lore and characters we love in the best way possible.
Wow.
lol Murray Bartlett is a great actor. The White Lotus
I think Frank had Multiple Sclerosis. I have that. I cried so hard. This episode was incredibly sweet.
Or ALS
7:14 the evacuation notice from the game feels more real as everything is rushed, temporary, so it's on a trailer, in the hbo show, it is nicely installed in the town center.
I wonder if there are like signs like that already prepared in storages spread across countries. Abit scary, but also I guess goverment needs to prep for the unexpected (and Im not talking about litteraly zombie outbreaks)
Omg this was one of the big things I noticed I was like uh it’s been 3 days since the outbreak, how do they already have that sign nicely installed
But they are in fact perennials, so it's possible for them to come back every year
Out of topic but Ron Swanson is the type of guy that would be a survivalist/doomsday prepper lol
Just a note, I think it's more likely Frank was suffering from MS or something similar, not cancer
This episode is still very good in my opinion because the actor playing Joel and Ellie really start hitting their stride and really do seem like Ellie and Joel. I mean they were still good in episode 1 and 2 but I wasn't feeling them as characters until this episode.
I'm still not there with Ellie...but Joel is starting to feel straight out of the game
I got the feeling that Frank had ALS instead of cancer based on the way he loses his motor functions.
It was a beautiful love story. It is great seeing a show made by showrunners who truly care!
Just give Nick Offerman the Emmy now.
The monkey line I think is a jab at 28 days later another zombie movie. It was very blatant and hilarious
Either that or Outbreak
Sorry to be "that" guy, but neither 28 Days Later or The Last of Us has "zombies"... But I get it - 28 Days Later (to its credit as a PHENOMENAL movie) changed what we think of as zombies 😉
What we think about this episode. Couldn’t stop crying😢. HBO has done it again
i cried so hard i had to take a 10 minute break to emotionally recover and then cried for the last 20 minutes
This episode puts the series in contention for a whole lot of Emmy's.
Controversial? How was this episode controversial? It was beautiful.
Apparently “GAY BAD 🐑”
i loved this episode, theres no point copying game scene to scene cuz we have already lived that story but this show takes a different turn and i love it. this ep was a work of art i love how they choose to make this ep they choose the artistic way the music and all it was just perfect.

That Ernest Scared Stupid clip was 10/10
The only thing that took me out of the episode was when Joel says that there’s not much ammo to find for his Ar.
The way this show is going, I don't know if I'll have tears left to last the rest of the season 😭
Lol maybe
lol Ikr. I didn't cry, but my eyes were watery. We kind of know what's coming with the brothers, Henry and Sam, too. That part was the worst for me in the game. I remember being so sad lol
The saddest parts are done already if it keeps the storyline similar to the game
I think this was a well done episode, I really like the changes that were made to bill and getting to see Frank.
This show is so good. I know nothing about the game so every thing is new and i love it. Im so curious to see where this is going
Technically they'd be winning Emmy's, but your point still stands! (Sorry, I just had to 😆)

2 small things I noticed;-
1) The song on the radio at the end of episode 1 seemed to focus on the words "I'm taking a ride with my best friend" which was sent by Bill. It mirrored Bill and Frank dying - Bill was taking a ride with his best friend...
2) If you look carefully at the creeping fungus in the opening credits, there are brown globs of fungus depicting townships of uninfected scattered around the USA.
