When she said know that eczema is a chronic skin condition that can’t be cured I seriously started to cry. I’m exhausted from taking care of my skin when it just never goes away no matter how diligent I am at taking care of it.

I know the topic is exema not acne but a pharmacist said my acne was uncurable. My doctor and a dermatologist were no help. One day I picked up a tube of Neutrogena and it worked. For many years I thought there was no help for me but there was. I hope you find that help.

I think more by uncurable means it is genetically with you but proper treatment will help lessen the severity. If your eczema is bad it probably will take time w the right products for your skin to see improvements

I felt legit grief when I started to realize I'd be dealing with this indefinitely...but it doesn't mean you have to suffer your whole life. Over time you will learn more about what triggers it and what works for you to treat it. 💪

It can't be cured but it can be treated. You just have to find what works for you. They are coming out with more and more treatments for eczema everyday. People used to point out my eczema every day and ask what it was. I know that as I grew older it actually got better. Now people don't even know I have it

I recently learned how eczema is related to the gut. Many things can trigger eczema but changing our diets can help to make things better. Wheat really seems to cause problems for me. The same goes for sugar.

I'd just like to share with all you eczema sufferers: I had such extreme eczema that I was in and out of hospital for most of my life, then had to take methotrexate then azathioprine (harsh immunosuppressants) for many years. Long story short......I went vegan and my eczema DISAPPEARED after just 4 weeks. No milk allergy ever recorded in the past. So.....I would say elimination diets are absolutely worth a try!

I recommend aloe vera gel!! Ive tried a lot of creams before, including the Eucerin ezcema relief cream recommended by Dr Dray. However, it doesnt rly do anything. Recently I just smeared aloe vera gel on my ezcema prone skin after a flare up. It instantly soothes my skin!!! And whats even more amazing is that it rly kept my moisturised for as long as 24 hours. Its truly amazing, idk why its not a highly recommended ingredient for ezcema prone skin though.

Another good idea when washing hands or showering is to apply the thick greasy moisturizer to the effected area before washing. That helps 'shield' it from the drying effects water and helps trap the moisture you would normally lose. Then reapply another layer after washing.

My kids had REALLY bad eczema when they were toddlers and this is what helped us:
Switching up their lotions and creams. For whatever reason, a product would work, then stop after a while. So we had around 6 or so products that we would cycle with. Prescription creams worked, but bleach their skin, so we used those only when needed.
Colloidal oatmeal is the holy grail!!! We always have a lotion with colloidal oil in the house now. Much cheaper and lasts longer then Aveeno's oatmeal bath packets. And for us, grinding our own oats isn't the same as store bought. Don't ask why.. this is just a personal observation.
Ointments for bad flare ups, creams for minor flare ups. Creams can burn! However, you can make your own compound by mixing ointments with creams. There were times where we simply mixed vaseline with hydrocortisone for a quick fix.
Don't give up!! We tried I don't even know how many lotions on one of my kids until we saw a product called Skinfix. It was expensive, but nothing else was working. It cleared her eczema in a week! And it was bad!!!!! Her feet, ankles, back of her knees, inner thighs, lower back, armpits, inner elbows, wrists, and even here eyelids were red and inflamed! She'd gotten a staph infection once from itching. However, Skinfix didn't help my son too much. So don't give up!
This last one was a random discovery as I was attempting to solve a completely different problem- my son has tics so we made him magnesium oil which is just distilled water and epsom salt. Magnesium is good for cognitive health and best absorbed transdermal (aka through your skin). So we were spraying his arms, belly, and back. His arms had some eczema patches and cleared after a couple days. Turns out, magnesium oil is great for eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Thank you so much. I’ve been so embarrassed by mine. It’s on my foot, and I always been extremely embarrassed thinking people would think it’s a contagious fungus. Mine didn’t even start until I got in my 20s and it’s always in the same spot. On the side of my foot and sometimes on my hands but on my foot it gets bad. And I always blamed myself wondering what I did. I thought it was herpes for a long time. But stress always flares mine up. Thank you so much because for so long I didn’t know it was eczema. And then my friend told me about it. And listening to your advice has helped so much. Thank you. I subscribed. Thank you. I appreciate it so much I feel like crying because I never had enough money to go to a dermatologist, and listening to your advice has helped it disappear, I use to scratch it so badly it would bleed and I would pop the blisters and that was a bad thing to do. And thank you so much for making these videos. I feel like crying because I had no idea what to do. All I can say is thank you and I wish I could do something for you in return.

You say fragrance can be a an irritant. I looked at my daughters products and they pretty much all are crap (I think based off what I’ve heard from you). This is scary in itself. Why the hell would they promote products that aren’t even good for our kids? I would assume their skin is even more sensitive. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d love to hear your knowledge on the subject. I hope you see this question. So, I have eczema. And when I wet wrap or use my creams and lotions (Eucerin And EpiCeram), it helps. But it also causes extremely bad dyshydrotic eczema. I get massive clear fluid filled blisters along with flat “blisters”. These little “holes” on my skin that when squeezed, clear liquid comes on. I hate them, they themselves can get super painful. So it seems like no matter what, if I heal the eczema, I get the dyshydrotic eczema.

I once asked my mom and dad if I could buy some casual gloves when going out but then they just yelled at me! They say that I'm so stupid since the weather is so hot but I feel so insecure whenever I show my eczema,I get glances from strangers which always lowers my self esteem. And when I'm going or with friends they always ask: Omg ur skin is still like that?/ What's that in ur skin and is it contagious? I honestly get so embarrassed I almost burst into tears. And when ur forced to wear short sleeves is legit the worse, People stare and it honestly makes me want to stay at home and lock all the doors.

I always wear jeans since i have it in my legs. When it started spreading on my arms i had to wear long sleeves. I'm using dermovate for about 3 yrs now, you can buy it without prescription and it helps heal my flare up, but they come back. Thanks for the advice! My worst enemies are stress, temperature and water (I have developed eczema on my hands just a couple of years ago). The cream my dermatologist has prescribed is corticosteroid to fix my hands issues (including other things) in a few days, if applied twice per day or something, and I also should be hydrating my hands with a proper moisturizer which sometimes I forget (I blame myself at a point, plus I wash my hands too much...). I will try to see if I can get from the pharmacy or something that kind of anti-itch cream at 01:39 some time, I tend to scratch my hands skin and it makes it worse at times.

I found the information on this video helpful and plan to try some of the suggestions. I developed eczema on my upper lip with scaling and cold-sore like crud on one side. Since I couldn't use the topical prescription stuff on it, I started using Carmex for chapped lips. It took awhile, but it worked. No more scaly lip.

I have had itching for 3 weeks. I haven’t been able to sleep at night. Ppl have been giving me advise like telling me to take Benadryl
I had been taking Benadryl and using cortisone cream and gold bond powder. Nothing helped. It was becoming unbearable to live with. I think a lot of ppl have no idea just how horrible eczema is. They think it’s just a rash. No big deal The dermatologist gave me a Kenalog injection in the office and a medrol dose pack to take at home. I still get itchy though and I really hope this treatment will stop the itching bc I can’t live like this. It’s miserable

They do special oil that changes to some kind of foam when you wash yourself with it, and it doesn't leave oily effect on your skin. Even though the oil isn't perfect for me, my brother is completely fine after washing with it, so it really depends on your skin!

A couple of Bioderma sunscreens contain ectoin too, for example Bioderma Photoderm Max - have you tried it? Bioderma doesn't say how much ectoin is in their products, I bet it's not even close enough to 7% - but I can feel it works in a similar way as ectoin creams but just a little bit weaker.

That used to happen with me as well but I found it was the sunscreens were really thick and they made me feel soooo uncomfortable so I started using gel sunscreen after I moisturize and it really helped

Same. Amazing how much holistic methods/or just plain information dermatologists DON'T tell patients. I'm on my second Derm. and when I do something holistic - she's like Oh yeah, that's helpful or eczema doesn't like this or that. Waste-o-time and money. I've learned so much on You Tube. Thank you Doctor and Thanks, especially for all the comments!

Hi Dr.Dray.I am a fan of yours and you have helped me a lot.I have been on tretinoin for approximately 2 years.I have lately developed eczema .
Do you think the tretinoin could have caused the eczema. If yes, what could I substitute in its place. Thanking you in advance.

I work in a salon. My hands are always in soap and water and hand sanitizer. I just bought the Sarna anti itch cream. It's a keeper. Thank you :)

Wearing fake nails has helped me so much. They keep my nails from breaking my skin and can help keep me from scratching because there isnt the satisfaction

    My triggers are pollen,dust,etc
    So yeah.
I live in a state that tends to get a crazy amout of pollen in spring.
So summer and spring I can rarely wear flip flops because of a large patch on my ankle

wish my eczema would be gone & not come back at all, I've had it since I was probably 9, 10 years & now I am 29 yrs old
still dealing with it... wish there was a way it be disappear, but can't it runs on my mom's side of the family
I'm allergic to the sun , so can't go out in the sun at
Can't use any other kind of Hand soap , or lotion , I've been stuck with baby lotion since I was born
so all together for 29 years if I use any other kind of lotion it will act up twice more
sometimes I hate my life , but it's the truth
but what can I use to get rid of my dry lips and my dry skin on my face at this right moment , been itchy nonstop
so therefore any tips please and thank you

Marabelle Mndwgn I’m not a dermatologist but using baby lotion still has fragrance in it. So I would go with any non fragrance moisturizer like Shea butter.

Oatmeal facemasks (pure oats mixed with boiling water and then cooled down to form a facemask paste) and oatmeal baths has helped my eczema more than any cream, ointment, steroid, remedy and I've tried literally everything.
