    Our son had eczema years ago as a baby, toddler and even up until 10 or so. It went away for about 10 years, then came back in his 20s. We covered hi in Eucerin after every bath, just as a preventative routine, but he also had a prescription for breakouts called Valizone (sp?). This was a medication that was specialty blend by the pharmacist mixed into Eucerin. Worked beautifully…so well, in fact, that “Ballyzone” was one of the very first words this son learned to say so that he could tell us when he was getting “the itchies” and needed Valizone!

I do not usually comment on UA-cam but I feel that it is the minimum that I can do to show our gratitude for all the expertise that you share as a professional.

    Aveeno eczema therapy night time balm is the only thing that keeps my eczema at bay. The Aveeno baby wash worked better for my eczema skin then the Cerave hydrating bar. I love Cerave. But Aveeno combines (eczema therapy) ceramides with oatmeal and that's a great combo!

    I get really dry skin in the winter and I get really itchy too. This year I started using a brush that I bought on Amazon to gently brush my dry skin off. Once I’ve brushed I wait a couple of hours and then apply lotion. This has helped me so much.

    I am a nurse and just found your channel, I really like your recommendations and explanations. I do not like dove soap,. I had eczema, it was a patch about 2 in x 5 in right where my scrub pants rubbed, HC cr was not effective nor was TAC I had it for several months, I stumbled across goats milk soap (I like the one with honey and oatmeal). I have not had a flair in 4 or 5 years after I started using it. Apparently, the oils and proteins in the goats milk works great, for these type of skin conditions.

    I dont understand why most people don't include Nivea creme as a drug store option for dry skin. It's the only moisturizer that doesn't make me react after my actives. Even the cereve and eucerine doesn't work for me. Such a hidden star.

    • @Stephanie-cq8mf
      @Stephanie-cq8mf 2 роки тому +22

      It’s the fragrance. Fragrance is very irritating for many people when it’s left on the skin. I agree with you about Nivea though. The crème does an amazing job on my hands and body but unfortunately the skin on my face cannot tolerate fragrance, especially around my eyes 😞. Now Nivea did come out with a fragrance free body lotion, so I’m hoping they also bless us with a fragrance free crème 🤞🏻.

    • @kamloopscruiser874
      @kamloopscruiser874 Рік тому +7

      Beyond fragrance is the lanolin that Nivea has- it’s one of the most common allergens in skincare products for eczema prone people. Nivea makes my skin itch immediately. Then the fragrance. Even more of an allergen.
      Dry skin or damaged skin is different than eczema.

    Hi I have very dry eczema prone skin, but during perimenopause also developed rosacea. My scalp and body are also extremely dry/eczema prone - it's an ongoing battle. I use a lot from LRP and Avene as part of my must have skin products. The Avene antirougours refreshing cleanser is a holy grail - takes off mascara, makeup and spf in a lovely cream format without any stinging/burning (even during a rosacea flare). My favourite body cleanser is the Avene oil cleanser - super gentle with a very light lather and no dryness. That Avene lip treatment is a long term must have too. The LRP baby lipikar is something I use at night on face, neck and chest, but truthfully it's not enough for my super dry body skin. I layer my moisturisers on the body with a cream under an ointment/balm at night. As I live in the UK some of the products/brands are a little different, but the ingredients are similar. I do have a steroid ointment from my Doctor that I use very sparingly (when I can't get the eczema to settle through maximum moisturising alone), but I am cautious with it and use it as little as possible.
    For the face one of my favourite products is the Niod modulating glucosides (a little pricier, but for me worth it), as it is so soothing to the skin. I also have a prescription azelaic acid 15% for the rosacea prone areas which can also be quite soothing on the skin. Here in the UK we can access prescription emollients/topicals through our family doctor and have access to some things not always available OTC. QV is an Australian brand I like for the body too. Unfortunately cereve burns/stings my skin, but Eucerin works fairly well for me (it's much more expensive in the UK than it is in the US btw). I'm going to hunt up that spray ointment for my back, as it will be so much easier. Best wishes.

    I started having eczema in my late 20's (during pregnancy). After struggling for years, an allergist told me the root cause of my eczema was allergy related. I eliminated fragrance, and finally, essential oils, which helped. However, I still had flares a few times a year. November 2018 I started the Keto way of eating (eliminating grains, potatoes, rice, sugar, etc.) I had a small flare in March 2019 and none since. Not one (almost three years). Topicals helped, but by addressing food issues, I have cured my problem. I share this in hopes it can help others.

    For your list of possible videos: As a 62-year old female who has recently had my first bout of dyshidrotic eczema, some of the products I've relied on. Vanicream HC in conjunction with Triamcinolone (prescrip.1%) my own concotion, SkinSmart antimicrobial Eczema Therapy spray, and surprisingly Derma-E Excema Relief Cream. I have not used any other Derma-E products but am amazed on this one. I have a long history of cosmetic chemical reactions starting in the mid 1970's from nail polish (formaldehyde resin?probably, maybe toulene) but only Clinique had a nail polish I could wear on my wedding in '84. Now its industry standard for nail polish to not have those ingredients and I don't seem to have a problem. Finally, research and opinion of Gladskin eczema cream out of the Netherlands. Based on assumption that many eczema patients have overgrowth of bacteria. I hope its not snake oil cuz you can't see anything! ;) I'm not using it as much since it did seem to make my problems worse before they got better (like many people had listed in reviews) but they are using endolysin targeted technology. Reminds of all the years people had ulcer problems and were told to drink milk to coat the stomach. Now --something like 80% of all ulcer patients are successfully treated with antibiotics. Oh and I have more! For now, if any of this fits into your criteria for videos....just my .02! I'm not a dermatologist and I don't play one on TV! But you do...love the videos.

    Elf overnight mask is another good product from them. I have psoriasis and eczema and even the cookie & dreams version which has a tiny scent (and I mean tiny) and some weird cookies bits (that aren’t harsh or abrasive, they are soft and break right up) is ok if you can do a little bit of fragrance and the bits don’t bother you. I only mention that version because it’s the only one I can find recently in store easily. But of course the regular version is best

Besides hydrocortisone (Cortizon 10 eczema is the best I’ve used for otc), BUT the docs & derms say don’t use it on your face lol that’s fine and dandy but how am I suppose to stop the itch ( easy for them to say just not to scratch). THE BEST THING for itching on my face has to be mother of creams (via Amazon, earthy Version). Idk what exactly in it works for inflammation and preventing further itching but it does. Have recommended to a lot of people as they come to me for skin issues cause of my eczema and they all love it too lol

    Thank you so much!! This is excellent information that I needed to hear! Since being in post menopause for 6 years my skin has gotten a lot dryer and some of the body lotions & creams haven't helped at all! Alpha Hydroxy 12% body lotion helps slough the skin off but I need a very hydrating body cream also face cream that actually will make a difference!! I will be buying some of these products and hopefully they will solve my dry skin issue! 💕

    Just a tip with petroleum as it's so occlusive if skin isn't clean it traps in everything including bacteria or dirty ,and if you have rosacea it can trap heat in the skin!

    I started getting Eczema 13 years ago on my shins on my legs. I'm 59 & still get flare ups. Mine gets so bad that I will scratch until there are bloody spots on my legs. It was SEVERE. Nothing over the counter helped it. I went to my family doctor & he gave me Elocon Ointment. I used that twice daily- Morning & Night after my bath. In 2 weeks that Eczema was gone. Now anytime I get a flare up, that's what I use & nothing else. If you just think that a " beauty" product Is going to make Eczema go away, It won't. Sometimes you need a Doctor's Prescription to deal with It. Anything else Is just playing with It. La Roche Posay has some wonderful products BUT, they are NOT cruelty free, they still test on animals. Cereve ( Pronounced " Sarah Vee" In the commercials) Is good to protect the skin barrier & Is most effective after you bathe & skin Is still damp.

    Dr, love your video and I have very dry skin. Your video helped me to have a better idea. Only one thing I will say is your Avene lip cream is $18(not that cheap), I tried so many lip products and the shiseido moilip Chapstick on Amazon only $11, but it's the BEST LIP product for give dry lips a good treatments. You should check it out and let me know. And I'm sure you know Shiseido is just such a nice brand!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!! Anyway THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the details! Loved it a lot. Can't wait to try them on. Please make a video for best drugstore retinol or retinal serum and cream? Want to hear your opinion.
