Merchants are cancelling decent orders to drivers who haven't been taking their low ball offers. I'm going to keep a list and not deliver for them at all. There's 5 off the top of my head so far. I've been faithful to ue for almost 3 years but i got to let them go cause I'm going bankrupt. 2 years in a row I had savings from other means bout $8k and I used it paying bills. Which means I'm out here working for free.
Merchants are very selfish in thinking that we don't deserve higher pay. They could help by increasing their food to 50cts/$3 more for delivery and add that to our pay.
I purposely got me a small car for deliveries and to save in gas this year but they doubled the gas prices and although it went down a bit. It's going back up!
      TO ALL MERCHANTS
      I PAY CAR NOTE
      I PAY INSURANCE
I PAY FLAT OR RIPPED TIRES
      I PAY OIL CHANGE
      I PAY BAD BATTERY
      I PAY TOWING
I PAY GETTING LOCKED OUT OF MY CAR FOR RUSHING BECAUSE OF DOUBLE ORDERS.
      I PAY CLEANING SUPPLIES
      BUT...MY BIGGEST EXPENSE IS GAS.
      THAT'S $30 TO $50 PER SHIFT $720 TO $1120MTH. USED TO BE $1200/1440+MTH W/MY SUV.
      I PAY FULL TAXES
"HOW DARE YOU ALL THINK IT'S OKAY TO PUSH OUT $1 TO $5 ORDERS AND DOUBLE THAT FOR MILES. I HAVE HAD OFFERS FOR $4 FOR 9 TO 12 MILES. ALSO $8/$9 OFFERS FOR 16/26 MILES. HAD A FEW SIMILAR TO $13 FOR $44 MILES.
THEN NO ONE THINKS ABOUT US GETTING BACK TO WORK AREA.
THIS IS NOT A NECCESITY IT IS A LUXURY EVEN IF SUBPAR CAUSE WE'RE AVERAGE PEOPLE IN REGULAR NON FANCY CLOTHES BUT OUR INVESTMENTS INTO THIS INDUSTRY ALONE. MAKES US WELL DESERVING PARTNERS WHO NOT ONLY DESERVE YOUR/EMPLOYEES RESPECT BUT ALSO HIGHER PAY.
AS IN $10 TO $50+ PER ORDER FLAT FEE+ MILES.
IT IS NOT JUST THE MILEAGE YOU SHOULD BE PAYING FOR. IT'S OUR TIME AND EFFORT. DRIVING IN TRAFFIC CITIES IS NOT AN EASY TASK. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING N TAKES A TOLL ON OUR MIND AND BODIES AS WELL AS NOT SO NICE CUSTOMERS.
      "WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THAT"
WE ARE TIRED THAT YOU ALL THINK YOU ARE THE ONLY ONES INVESTED!

    1. Minimum pay for the order.
    2. Minimum pay per mile.
    3. Maximum distance to travel for an order.

The other day they did it so rapid fire that I couldn't even hit "pause dash" to get the bombardment to stop. How can they hit your acceptance rate multiple times for only ONE actual real order, and then tell you that you won't be prioritized for high paying orders if your acceptance rate is too low? I've been doing DD just over a year now. I used to be able to easily make $150-$200 on a 5 or 6 hour shift, EASILY. These days, I find myself either; A) Working longer shifts and driving more miles to make the same amount of money, or; B) Cutting my losses on a normal shift. It's super frustrating and downright discouraging to walk away with $70 when you know you were able to make double that a few months earlier... and factoring in gas prices and car maintenance, it's almost not worth it to be doing all this driving to make at or below minimum wage PLUS beat up your car. DD is great because it's a flexible job and I absolutely love driving and delivering, but it seems that they are doing everything EXCEPT treat their dashers better.
Mentioning the so called "crap orders" is an interesting observation as well. These days, I find myself receiving so many more of these kinds of orders that are less than $1 per mile. The worst I've gotten has been $2 for 20 miles, and it seems like I get at least one or two of these extremely outrageous orders every shift.

I’ve also been jerked around in my GPS toward the end of a shift. I would’ve been able to pick up another order, but was making about twenty turns in a residential area trying to find the address. Once I finally delivered the order and left, I realized once I was back on a main road that I could’ve just stayed on that road and taken two other turns, then gone directly to the address and onto another order. I drove quite a few miles for this order too.

  • @Droogs_OTR
    @Droogs_OTR Рік тому +41

Yeah, but WHY is DD so focused suddenly on acceptance rate? Because people aren't delivering all these no tip orders. I deliver no tip orders, as long as the base pay makes it worth my while. But DD wants to be stingy with the base pay, and when there's no tip, nobody in their right mind will deliver these long distance, 1 item orders.
This "high priority" program is just DD's way of getting all these no tip low pay orders delivered. Tipping customers suffer because of the no tip customers. The no tip customers get stacked onto the tipping customers like leeches. And dashers suffer because of the no tip customers, too. DD needs to up the pay to subsidize the non-tippers, rather than using this "priority program" carrot-on-a-stick, or stacking orders on the backs of tipping customers, as a way to subsidize dashers' pay when people aren't tipping.
But no, DD shifts the subsidizing of these orders onto the dashers and the tipping customers, who share the burden of delivering a burrito bowl to an apartment 8 miles away for $3.75 (when they stack it and say it's just a half mile away from the tipping customer's order that's paying $16.75 - that customer has to wait while we deal with a no-tip burrito bowl and no gate code for the apartment complex - DD shifts the problem onto the driver and the tipping customer to keep from raising the base pay)

ALL of the “high priority “ orders I have seen pay around $7.00 each. I have only seen 2 orders that paid slightly above $10 ($10.25 & $10.75). And I’ve definitely been accepting orders I didn’t want to take in order to keep my acceptance rate high enough to stay in the program. On average, only 1 in 10 orders have been part of the high priority program. PLUS gas has been between $6.50-$7.50 per gallon here!!!! This program isn’t worth it and I will no longer be playing their game to keep my acceptance rate high enough for the program.

Yeah my high priority thing lasted two weeks. One or two with a dollar or two more than they might otherwise have been for me. I don’t need those exact orders, but like what I would’ve gotten. And after it ended on the 15th, I’ve still gotten my typical 7-8 $ orders so much higher some a tad lower.
I had only a half hour - tonight as I had appointments earlier and that’s all that was available for later. I literally turned everything down and they were coming in. It wasn’t like with nothing comes in. What was it and everything was like 525 tips included. After I turned a bunch of those down (some of them were only going like a mile; it was more on principal like for my first dash to bother leaving the house I like it to be at least $7 -8. 675 being the lowest. I’ll still take a five dollar - can I have a mile if it’s like breakfast time and I’m out in the area anyway. But for the most part I try not to take anything below 675 and 3 miles or less for the simple fact that that’s what most of them are around here. But tonight I did get a couple orders for 11 and even one for 14 but they were just going further than I felt comfortable at this time of day. Aside from ridiculous traffic, I have to be home before it gets pitch black out because I can’t see anything. On the 14 was going to two different houses and shopping for four items.
But yeah it’s not worth taking things that just cost you money to do for your break even. Or if you make a whole dollar you’re lucky? 😂 just found these videos and it’s nice to see people dealing with similar issues. I’ve looked on Facebook groups, but everybody’s quite snarky in there for the most part. I shouldn’t say everybody, but you know what I mean hopefully.

Often, many thought I was getting paid 8 to 10 dollars to drive 3 or 4 miles to complete the delivery. When I showed them I was getting $2.50, they were dumbfounded. I was nice about it, and told them the only reason I took the order in the first place was just to educate myself from the customer perspective as to the logic of not tipping..

Here’s what I want to know. In my area, I see delivery fees of $7.99-$12.99. I also deliver in my area and those same restaurants are sending $3-5 offers. Customers are tipping less because of the delivery fees and DoorDash is paying less as well. I went from a 37% acceptance rate to 12% on one dash because of the orders I received. $2.75 for 9 miles!! Ha!! No. I’ve done this very part time for about a year now but what I don’t understand is how they can justify such crazy delivery fees and still only pay out $2-3. What I have noticed is they have increased peak pays and I think the reason for this is two-fold: first, there’s less and less dashers on the road lately and second, they’re trying to make up for the dip in base pay. It’s such b.s. Pay us a reasonable rate and we’re happy to work. Don’t and we find other ways to hustle.

Also drivers need to stop focusing so much on the $ per mile and more on the $ per minute. Time is money, so start thinking about how long is an order going to take to complete.
Driving a mile in Manhattan can take an hour, driving a mile in Montana can take less than a minute.
There is no quick fix to us earning more.
Doordash has to go back to a guaranteed minimum, show full payout, full transparency, etc. Drivers have to work smarter taking all the delivery factors into account and perform a high level of service so customers keep ordering. This is a luxury service not essential.

I'm not doing that head back to your zone nonsense. I end dash and then restart it in the zone they sent me to. Also in our market, I found dash along the way is pretty helpful too because it keeps them from sending you in a direction you don't want to go. I live in west Charlotte and can't ever start my dash from there or I'll end up on the other side of Wilkinson no man's land. So I say I want to dash in one of the other zones like Myers park or northlake and then "dash along the way" which gives me orders in the exact spot I want them actually in uptown.

If you try it, it just says something like, "If you unassign this order, you won't get paid for it" or something. Now they hide numbers from apartment addresses so unless you're familiar with the apartment addresses in your city (I am) you don't know it's an apartment until you pick it up. And I also seriously hate the "safety check ins" they spam you with even if you turn off the option.

No matter what program they try to make if you are the best dasher for the delivery they will always send you the offer. These programs only effect small markets. If you are in a large market ignore it completely and keep cherry picking.

Some people tend to have the opinion that you may shill a bit for DD. I personally think you have a well balanced perspective in general. We clearly rely on one another as far as the business to contractor relationship goes. I'm glad to hear you carry the general opinion on this matter that most of us have. Bonus points for attempting to find a solution that would be mutually beneficial rather than complaining without having anything to add. I've been seeing that a lot in the community.

We are not in this to subsidize DoorDash and we do it for profit... Not a loss. When doordash sends you a a $6 order to go 16 mi one way that is worth complaining about. Period 👍🏻. A support rep recently told me that they are considering a brand new pay model because so many dashers are upset about the low earnings recently so they know what's going on but I've said it before and I'll say it again... In fact, let me shout it... DOORDASH DOES NOT CARE 👎🏻

I think customers should have to pay .50 per mile delivery fee and a mandatory tip. That would lower the amount DD has to increase pay on a lot of no tip orders.

I’m surprised that you got a hidden tip. I did one for $8.00 (with 💎 High Priority 💎 and it was just $8.00 and another that was still $5) not sure, unless it’s a busy area, I’m still not risking a 10 mile order.

NGL at first I was excited to get a reset and higher priority orders cos it was all good and my acceptance rate was at 40%. But now that it's been a couple of week's, they started throwing me the "high priority " crap orders and it's challenging to keep up. I have to drive UE and Lyft just to get along now which is okay but when the orders on DD are decent I can come out with $2+per mi in my area and don't have to switch between apps.
I think it's trash that we also only get ONE reset on our acceptance rate in our DD career. It's almost setting us up for failure. Not to mention that $2 cash out fee sucks too.
My initial impression was that the high priority orders would be $2+ pr mi which would give you mostly $10+ order's.
Instead of making the drivers jump thru all the hoops they can make the customer jump thru hoops as well since what we do should be considered a LUXURYservice and not a necessity. The app shouldn't even be able to process orders that have a $5 & under order.

As a cherry picker I didn't have high hopes but I gave it a try because I haven't been able to dash at all lately. It gave me good orders and clown orders so I still cherry picked. My acceptance rate is still to low. I don't think $2/mi is to much to ask for. I rarely get anything higher pay than that.

I'm just outside the Austin, TX market and just finished my 3rd day as a Dasher. My day started good with 2 orders in 35 minutes for $17. In 5 1/2 hours, I only ended up with 8 deliveries and $61.02. A "high priority" order was for $5.27 and it didn't say distance. I accepted it, when usually I wouldn't, and I got sent 18.54 miles away...and the "tip" was $.02 on this order. This one order cost me an hour on back country roads & out of any hot spots. #craporder
After only 3 days, I am already fed up with the app freezing, pausing me and completely not working when I show up for a pickup.
How about DD consider $8-10/hr pay, base pay and a $5.00 minimum tip??
We want to be able to support ourselves & families just as much as DD is able to do....

HAHAHA that intro! 🤣 Same for me brother.
Yeah ive already seen my daily earnings take about a 50-75 dollar hit with this program. Most of the dashers in my area are sticking with the program, and even though Im a top dasher (get AR up at end of month and then cherry pick next month till end) Ive been getting wayyyy less orders. I hadnt seen a catering order in 2 and a half weeks until today when my AR was back up in the 60s (I typically saw at least 3-6 of those a week before this program. Something weird is happening.

Hey B, I have a theory. Lemme know what you think. Ever since I passed 5000 deliveries and I'm creaping up on 8000, I'm seeing less and less low ballers. Majority I get are $6.50 and up with a LOT of high ballers. I average about $150-200 per day during non-peak months of the year. My weekly average is around $1200. My theory is that the higher past 5000 to 6000 deliveries I go the better my average is and yes I do take $4.75 orders bcos it balances out what I give in return for the preference on large orders. Sry for the long explanation. And I average 150 deliveries a week. Also, I have had a 5.00 for 6 months.

From what I understand, most low orders are being made by the restaurants, not the customers themselves.
Customers call the restaurants, and the restaurants place their order on doordash for them.

You are 100% correct about that guaranteed payment. When I started, several years ago, that guaranteed payment had my acceptance rate at a very high level. Now? Pscht! My acceptance rate fluctuates between 10 - 30%, depending on how bad the orders are in a week. Go back to the guarantee pay, I will do accept far more than I reject.

I was in the program for about a week my customer rating has consistently been 5.0 for over a year now. My online or early was 87% my acceptance rate was 88% then down to 58% in about 2 hours and my completion rate was low I honestly don’t remember the exact number but I do know I called support all the time bc I would get stuck waiting at restaurants for 20 mins waiting for an order or the restaurant would send the wrong food and the customer would not accept it or I was in a really bad neighborhood and felt unsafe. I’ve never not completed an order after picking up the food. And every time support said they documented the call and it would not be held against me. Today I get an email saying the deactivated my acct and get this I’m not able to even speak to anyone regarding this issue nor can I appeal it. What?? They can’t be serious. I’m a newly single mom and this is my only income at the moment and today I spent all day on the phone trying to talk to someone and getting disconnected. I’m so upset and have no idea what to do now

There are several things that have changed. The offer of promo pay for a certain amount of time (9:30-11:30am) and it disappearing, or not available, or the full promo time unavailable ( only 11:00-11:30 available). Also, I used to deliver orders, and wherever I delivered to, I was able to pick up orders in that area. No longer; the app puts me outside of my delivery area, and I have to travel back to my zone for orders. This now makes me miss out on high-paying orders, because I can no longer pick up orders in that dropoff area. I spoke to several CSAs about this DD change, and all they say is thanks for the feedback, and they will TRY to find out what's going on. No one can tell me why the change is happening...Please respond, Bentley

They introduced this and it DESTROYED my market. I typically average $18-22 an hour. The day I got the screen to reset AR and didn’t do it. I make about $7 an hour and hardly get ANYTHING, let alone orders worth taking. I used to get offers about once every 30 seconds, now I’m lucky to get one once every 10 minutes. It’s BAD. I know it won’t stay like that but they have literally said for at least the first week “if you don’t have at least a 50% AR, you’re trash. You won’t get crap.”

Dashing in Bay Area is wack right now in that stupid pilot program, and plus all these promos putting too many dashers on road when it’s not even really busy, wait times are longer just for a trip now 30-40min sometimes an hr, have to use multiple apps now to make close to 20$ per hr
