Hi I would love some advice for scheduling a dash in different state. I’m visiting my family but I want to schedule for the following week for when I get home. My area always fills up quickly and you have to schedule or you won’t be able to dash. Also since I’ve been out of town, I won’t qualify for top dasher because obviously I haven’t done 100 orders for the month. Any idea what I can do…???

I just started dashing a few days ago and I accept all orders. I’ve worked north of Pittsburgh in Monaca and was making about $30/hr. I’ve seen 2 runs for $20+ most my runs are minimum $7 my $20+ orders had customer tips of $13 and $16 with base of $5 and peak of $3 and $4 base pay.

Here's one for ya. I took a dash for a customer that ordered food, deserts, and a shake from a franchise burger place. They had to substitute the desert due to stocking issues, which the customer was fine with. The shake machine was down as well, so I informed the customer which was fine with it. I felt lead to bless the customer with the same flavor of shake from the restaurant's competitor without telling the customer. At drop-off (no-contact), I sent a pic of her order with the shake in front. At completion, I received a $15 tip. I sent a txt to her explaining the shake, then bumped the tip to $30. Customer service is key to the business!

My biggest order over the 2 weeks was $65 for a 2 stack order about 8 miles total. But I’ve been getting a lot of $25 under 1 mile. I don’t cherry pick my orders as much as I do my area. I’ve found 2 spots that really work for me for about 2 hours a day. I found a nice zone hopping spot that keeps sending me back and forth with high paying orders. I found a really good breakfast spot that’s good for 4 hours on certain mornings. And biggest thing I’ve done is make friends with the merchants. you want to get in and out of restaurants fast, make sure you show gratitude to the people in control of your time.

I get pretty decent tips almost regularly. I think just one time I didn't get a tip but I've been doing this for over a year and that was the only time. Last weekend I got a $20 tip which was very nice! I then got the same person and again $15. Also on two occasions I got a bonus $20 in person with two different people all because they really liked the communication I give. The one was like , I never ever had someone do what you did with keeping me updated and communicating. I am also in Pittsburgh and I love dashing in the GT/ ML area. Once you know all the roads. I feel that really helps with the navigation and faster delivery. My rating is at 4.98, 100 percent completion rate, 97 percent early and my acceptance is a bit lower at 49... I still get those stupid orders and doing this a year now I know when it's just an absolute no lol I really enjoy your videos and so agree with you! Communication and going that extra mile for your customer really makes a difference.

I got a double order the other night that paid over $30 total picking up from two different restaurants but delivering them to the same drop off point. That was the best order I've received since getting activated on DD almost a couple weeks ago. Now, I'm wondering if I'm getting these good orders only because of the initial Top Dasher status they gave me and am required to keep taking orders to keep my acceptance rate at the minimum level to stay a Top Dasher? I guess that would make sense to encourage new drivers to not decline too many orders. I only hope that they don't start sucking really bad after my first month is over because Uber Eats did that after only a couple weeks delivering for them.

To be successful you need to plan where to drive, when to drive, and what restaurants to deliver for. Stay away from the hoods and stay in the wealthy neighborhoods, deliver actual restaurant food and skip the fast food junk, and figuring out what times are the best times to deliver in your area.

In Boston area, I've been doing doordash about 1.5 years. I get a challenge like every 3-4 weeks. It's usually something like 15 deliveries for $75 extra. Last month it was a good one. It was 25 deliveries for $200 extra. The peak pay ranges anywhere from $1.50 to $6.50. The $6.50 isn't in Boston proper but right outside. So in my area, Doordash doesn't offer peek pay during their dinner rush when I'm most commonly driving. They have peek pay usually from 1130pm to like 230am or something like that. The problem is that really, there's just not that many orders during that time. Or maybe there's just too many Dashers on the road. So when I'm Dashing from 4pm-12am, I'm usually just getting base pay and tips. And honestly the people using Doordash in my area 9.5/10 they just don't tip well, or at all! Uber on the other hand, they tip really really well, BUT there just isn't enough demand to pay the bills for me, so I have to rely on Doordash for the quantity of work. I still manage to make about 20/ hour most nights between 5 and 20, but I often find myself accepting orders I don't want just to get paid!

Same here, my zone is so saturated with drivers now that you can’t get on the schedule if you aren’t scheduling at least 5 days in advance. The map will say it’s not busy enough to dash ALL DAY besides 12-2, 5-8 and nights are hit and miss. But when you go online there’s tons of orders available, which means there’s a lot of drivers online even for the amount of orders we get here. Meaning there’s almost never any peak pay because there’s almost always more than enough drivers online. There is no real way to “get bigger orders” on DoorDash besides getting in the large order / catering program. Really surprised he missed the only legitimate piece of advice on how to get bigger/higher paying orders. If you’re not in those programs you can’t get any orders where the total is over $100, which are the ones that usually have really good tips. Once I got in that program I started getting around 1-2 $20+ tips every day, there’s almost always a business ordering food for their employees around 11am. I delivered a $1000+ catering order around Christmas and got over a $100 tip

I rejected any order that wasn’t at least $2.00 a mile. This lead me to rejecting “all” of my orders. Door dash sent me a message saying they weren’t going to send me anymore orders since I rejected every order which in turn, this also made my acceptance rate really low. Waiting for that order that was more than $1.00 per mile just never came. Anyways they gave me another chance. I now have a high acceptance rate but still no orders more than $1.00 a mile.

I have drove to Memphis, Germantown Bartlett Nashville and all surrounding areas just to find better paying deliveries but still have not found any over 1 dollar a mile. I work 12 -16 hrs a day and after buying gas , a pack of cigarettes and buying my little boy something to eat from Taco Bell 3 times a day I might end up with 20 bucks if I'm lucky. Some days the only way I can feed my kids is by working door dash. I wish someone would tell me where they actually pay 2 or 3 dollars a mile so I can go there and work. We actually have worked a full day, slept in the car, started working the next morning and I still cannot make enough money for it to average up to 1 dollar a mile b

I've been dashing for about a month now, and I live in what I think of as a "Spider Web" area. It's a small town, so all the businesses are together in the middle, and the homes are on the outside. It's essentially impossible to finish a delivery and still be near a hot spot, so I'm always driving to the center and then out to the edge, back to the center and out to the edge. I have gotten 14 dollar orders, and they're from people at the edge of town who tip 12 bucks to make sure a driver is willing to go out there. My rule of thumb is if the dollars are double the miles to drive, it's a fair delivery.

I too have been dashing for just over a month. Where I live there are quire a few areas that match your 'spider web' description pretty accurately. At first I was accepting orders that were averaging out $1/mile, and somehow keeping my income at or slightly above $20/hr, but now I'm seeking at least $2/mile. I like that you got $14 tips for driving out to the edge of the spider web, I have managed three tips of $10 now but most are in the $2-4 range.

Really doordash is only worth taking for orders just a few miles unless the order size is extremely large($50+ subtotal). Doordash doesn’t pay any different for a 1 mile order vs a long distance order. Not only are you doing a longer distance order for the same base pay, but you are spending more time driving back to your zone and gas expenses as well.

Imo the strategy for these spaced out zones with long drives is to multi-app, if possible for your area, and try to get your orders heading in the same direction. It is just as efficient to have two pick ups in place A and two drop offs in place B as it is to have one drop off and one pick up at each location. When I'm heading back to the restaurants from out of zone, I'm trying to get good orders on both apps that go in the same direction. I also usually identify which direction out of zone is best for me. For example my current location it is best to pick up orders going west, because it increases my likelihood of being able to get another on the other app also going west.

I have an acceptance rate of about 10% on DD and 14% on UberEats. I average at least $25 an hour, usually more during high volume hours. I've never been top dasher since I've started, but don't notice a substantial difference in order quality from then. I can reject 15 or 20 offers in the time it takes to complete a low paying delivery, though it usually doesn't take quite that long to get a good order ($12+). If for example you do two $5 deliveries, and in that time I reject 15 offers to do one $12 delivery, I've still come out ahead and probably spent less gas.

My chances of making more money are in the area with more orders and restaurants of course.
Also the peak pay is 1 to 2 bucks here and it feels like they lower the base pay to even it out so the offers don’t seem any different.
Unfortunately bonus pay is not something I can use to my advantage because of this. Like you said, depends on the market place. I come from base pay and tips only but luckily I often see great tips when it is busy. I had a night where I made eighty bucks in three hours last week then it died out. For this area that’s great. i been dashing for 3 weeks, accepting every order that pops up, not even being selective, i've been averaging 22-25$ per active hour, around $15 from start to end for a dash; including wait times. Overall I don't think there's really a hack unless you're just trying to save on mileage and all that technical things. whether i get peak pay or bonus pay, or regular, I still see my average between 22-25. the only thing that would make that higher is when i get a good tipping night besides its been pretty consistent.

My first week was like that, accepting every order. After that, I had an issue with doing all of the driving for low paying orders. Especially on routes with 100 left and right turns, deep into a neighborhood creeping at 15mph, all for $1 or no tip at all.

Peak pay in my area seems pointless. Usually "dash now" is disabled, and when you can dash, customers seem to know that its peak pay and tip terrible. Your getting $7.50 for a typical arbys order whether a $4 peak pay is on, or if its just standard time
