    Protip: don't throw old bearing races. Clean them, chuck them in a bin and keep them. You never know when you'll need one for God knows what kind of puller, pusher, spacer etc. You also don't need to waste too much cleaner on stuff like that. Get Naphtha and dunk the part in it. It will come out nearly clean (if you swirl the part after an hour, it will be clean) and ready for further and final cleanup. BEWARE tho, to not do this inside a small area, and beware that Naphtha is gasoline like flammable only worse. Best part about it is the fact that you can keep reusing it until the cows come home. The only thing you need to do is sieve it through a few napkins stuffed inside a metal funnel and it will be clear once more. Best cleaner you can buy, hands down.

  • @rominou684
    @rominou684 3 роки тому

    Don't take it bad, it's especially a personal preference. For the diff, I was a bit disapointed with the final finish, like the E30 diff with the gloss finish, a satin finish will be better and closer to the original aspect. By extent, same for aluminium part. Somes peoples paint them, but after a clean, if the surface still okay, a satine clear coat trend more to the original aspect. By the way, If I remember well, on some older BMW, tin part like intakse in M20 or the gasket cover in M21D24 (sure in this example) are cover with a clear coat , which by the way tend to yellowing with the ages.
    I don't know if this personal critisim will be important for you, but even if not in the common trend of compliments, I think return, even not positive can be important.
    Otherwise, you make I always a really good job inthe restoration and shooting your diaries ;)! I hope you will continue perfect your skills in this adventure.
    Best regards and continuation !

Also stock springs and air suspension extra option from factory with compressor to add more air to rear shocks. Stock bushings and completely stock rear. Good luck with rest of the cars on the market to achieve the same. And still daily driving 80 000km per year. max 3 times rear oil changing no more.

    Honest question - I would have thought a more resistant pain systems could be used other than typical paint with clear coat. I know some 2 pack paints are specifically designed for the underside of the car which may give more durable results - I personally prefer the powder coating way for bits like these. There is a mistake in the installation of the seal of the input shaft. The lips of the seal must face into the case of the differential. This orientation avoids oil leaking in case of overpressure inside the case, because the pressure forces the lips over the surface of the shaft.
