I actually went as Jared Leto's Joker last Halloween.
I stayed in character the whole night, had people cracking up. But I knew how to restrain myself, and even stayed sober for the whole night so I wouldn't come off as too obnoxious.

Same, it's one of my favorites part in the credits ^^ It was hilarious, just perfect; i loved it and even said ' Thank's Deadpool!' out loud in the theater then applause. A few peoples in the room did it too actually, it was great!

The worst part about Green Lantern was it's CGI. It just looks terrible, it's not fooling anyone into thinking it looks like real flesh or cloth or light.

I never really understood the hatred towards Ryan Reynolds when it came to this movie. Yes, the movie is terrible, but I never blamed or hated Ryan for it. Even for Wolverine Origins and Blade 3, I just blamed the people in charge.
Yes, it's strange that people blame the actor, when he's not in charge of any creative decision. The same happened with poor Ben Affleck in Daredevil. Actually, his performance is probably the best thing about that terrible movie. Reynolds is not the writer, director or producer in this movie, so how is that his fault? Even his acting can be at least in part blamed on the director.
If anything Reynolds wanted to back out from Origins when he found out what misdirection they were going for with the character, by that point he was legally obligated to continue with the project...notice hes showing no fucks given while he's playing Wade and the guy at the end playing Weapon X isn't even Reynolds??
Yes... Like Affleck was blamed with Daredevil when he was announced to be the next Batman. People sucks.
And as far as Reynolds' performance, did anybody even READ the Green Lantern comics from the 60's and 70's? That's what Hal Jordon was like. And he would have TOTALLY used the Hot Wheels construct.
I especially don't understand it when he knows how much crap those movies were, even during production for Origins. But at least he got the Laura laugh when both of those performances are made fun of in Deadpool.

The SADDEST part about this movie is that aside from all the unused potential, they actually set up the sequels, the GF who would become a Star Sapphire and Sinestro with his yellow Fear Ring. In would REALLY love to see a “War of the Light” series of movies or shows.

In Media class recently we had to make a movie trailer using secondary footage. I used the trailer for this to make a preview for a movie about a test pilot who's disappointed with his life and day dreams about being a superhero.

Fun fact Marc Guggenheim (of the arrowverse shows) original script of the film was basically training day in space with Sinestro teaching Hal how to be a Green Lantern, heavily focuses on space and the actual corps and only spends about 15 percent of the film in on earth...how we got this from that original script is anyone's guess.
It was felt that the original script would not connect well with audiences who were not GL fans.
Given how Guggenheim has handled Green Arrow... I'm guessing his film would lull people into thinking it's good... only for the next two movies to drop HORRIBLY in quality. Especially for the female characters.

Green Lantern is my favorite hero of all time. He's got an imaginative concept and some of the most colorful and entertaining comic book stories I've ever read.
It's a shame this film captured absolutely none of that.
One of the most original comic books was turned into one of the least original comic book movies.

The lantern corps are the biggest well of potential, and what they made was this piece of trash
But the animated series is actually really good, yeah I'm not kidding it earned 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and even created new and memorable characters worthy of the comics. It's really impressive for something that was supposed to send off "this.

Regardless, if I were to fix this movie, I would have casted Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan and had Taika Waititi direct this. THAT would have been amazing. Instead, we got a guy who wanted fucking Jack Black as Hal Jordan.

Right?! At least Mordo in Doctor Strange had a gripping motivation. Everything he’d been taught to believe was proven wrong and his reality was shattered. Sinestro turned evil because they thought it would make good sequel bait.
No reason? Sinestro did it because Guardians restricted using a weapon that is much more powerful than Green Lantern ring and we see his disbelief is Guardians' actions many times in the film
pretty much sums up all the characters motivations. Hal Jordan doesnt even make sense in this movie, fighter pilots are crazy devoted to their jobs since it's insanely competitive and takes a huge amount of training and skill. They're college educated military officers, not lazy drop outs that are too cool for school. The villians are just like "welp, I guess I'm gonna destroy the world"

There's a STRANGE moment in every nerd's life when you realize "Stock Geeky Guy" in this movie is Oscar winner Taika Waititi
Which...Ryan Reynolds and him both being in this movie really goes to show how one studio's trash can be another studio's treasure; because Marvel is making both of them BANK these days!!

To find out that Taika Waititi himself was in a flop of a DC movie, from 12 years ago . . That's how forgettably uninteresting it is.
The guy at 5:57 went on to direct a much better comic book superhero movie, Thor: Ragnarok.

MrRyanAndre it's pretty sad. Deadpool is my favorite comic book character and I would've liked to cosplay as him if I ever went to a con but so many people dress as him and view it as a free pass to be a dick and I don't know if I wanna be associated with those asshats, even tangentially.

I have a better idea for a green lantern movie: focus on Hal Jordan on earth for a few minutes, do something that makes him worthy of a Green Lantern ring , have him meet Abin Sur, pass on his ring to Hal, he travels to Oa, then gets a super suit that is not CGI, meets Tomar Re and Kilowog who shows him the ropes and on a training mission he comes across a former member of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro. Also there would be a few scenes of Hal with Carol Ferris, one of which is a romantic scene of them being in an entire amusement park made by Hal’s ring. In a post credits scene, Carol has a vision which will lead to her becoming Star Sapphire and the other scene is Hal meeting up with an old friend from Central City, Barry Allen who has the ability to move faster than anyone
I love the skit with Deadpool, Hyperfangirl and Devil Boner at the end. Hyper was fine with it because she KNEW what the consequences for him were gonna be. Love it
A friend of mine is a huge fan of Green Lantern so when he heard this movie was coming out he wouldn't stop taking about, after he saw it he never talked about it again. Also congrats Devil Boner and Hyper Fan Girl.

Pretty sure her recognizing him immediately in an obvious and "comedic" way is a nod in reference to pretty much every superhero romance story i.e. Clark Kent + hair gel - glasses = Superman. One of two things in that whole movie made me laugh-adjacent-ish...the other is Peter Sarsgaard leaning in to dramatically sip his drink

Dolly Parton entered a Dolly Parton lookalike contest and lost. Hugh Jackman has walked around convention floors in his Wolverine stuff and not been recognized. He was even once told he was "too tall" to be Wolverine lol

In our country, this whole movie is a big meme- some lines of the movie were translated very weirdly. For instance,The Iconic line of " the one whose ring shined the most" were translated into "there were ones who shined the rings for others", making the protagonist akin to a magical shoeshine. We dubbed the movie "The ringshine", and use it as the measurement of how shitty other movies are.

Actually, the post credit scene was suppose to symbolize one of the 9 Lantern Corps. The Green uses the power of Will and the Yellow uses the power of Fear. There's Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Black and White Lanterns.

I feel like Hal fails to be adequately surprised by this new piece of information. The possibility that the guardians might be wrong about something so important should feel vastly more concerning than his one-man pity party.
If a Green Lantern believes there's zero chance that the ring chose him wrongly, does that mean he never has to question his own worthiness and his own sense of morality? If one Green Lantern starts committing atrocities, will the rest of the Corps stand behind him, because the ring is never wrong and so he must somehow be in the right?

I’m just going to say it...Green Lamtern has the coolest power in DC and I actually LIKE this movie
I too think it has good ideas, but unfortunately they weren’t all fully executed the right way
I did like the performances, and the effects while I agree were a bit ugly at times weren’t too bad I guess. I also liked the background character designs

Personally I do really love this film on paper but in practice it leaves much to be desired, as someone has mentioned already Ryan Reynolds had to remind the writers of the green lanterns oath which shows just how much they couldn’t care, and green lantern is so much more then not caring he’s one of the most important parts of the justice league and is a beacon to humans in the dc as to what there capable of, he doesn’t pretend to be something he’s not he holds his humanity like a badge of honour and it’s incredible, this film saw him as just another superhero to start a franchise which doesn’t make any sense,
I think given time we will get the version of green lantern we deserve and in time I’d like to work on my own version depending how that works out but it’s something I’d love to do
Fans deserve a good green lantern character and not just a version that didn’t care about where it came from
