I like the explanation of magic and science being the same thing because in all honesty, it gives the fictional concept of magic realism in a way that's never been done before. And, in an age where most people like realism, I'd say it's a godsend. The elder scrolls got this right as well. In TES, magic is divided into different types: destruction, conjuration, restoration, alteration, and, illusion. And, like how a scientist studies subjects like physiology or archeology, a mage with skill and aptitude could study each type of magical category called schools and it's up to the mage to pick which avenue of study they like. They keep on learning even after they'd become a master. That's why I like magic being explained this way
When you study, experiment, make new potions, make new spells, do what Snape did with his potion making textbook, that to me is Science. The world they live in, the things that are nature, that to me is the so called magic
I got a question: What's wrong with explaining magic with a bit of psuedo science? I don't see anything wrong with giving your magic some kind of laws establishing what it can and can't do. Gives better reason for how things work. Like how one sorcerer defeats another sorcerer without it sounding like an ass pull.
I know your comment is a year old by now, but whatever: there's a big difference between establishing rules to how your magic'ing works, and shoehorning in a pseudoscientific explanation. The former is not a bad thing at all; in fact, most (good) high fantasy works have very consistent rules that define what magic practitioners can and cannot do, as well as give a more or less clear notion of how powerful everyone is. However, when you try and explain magic in a mundane manner, down to real world terms like matter/energy (in the physical sense, of course), particles and whatnot, you risk ruining the experience (as the Critic said in the video) for both science buffs and fantasy nerds: to the latter, your system will seem way less... Well, magical, thereby negating the genre's entire allure; and to the former it'll feel like a huge break in the suspension of disbelief, as they'll obviously be able to tell your explanation it's bullshit.
@@andromedasgarden Idk i think mixing science and magic is great and interesting like in the league legends series Arcane they find many different ways to harness magic through science and that show did very well and is very popular amongst both Fantasy and sci fi nerds alike. Magic in this movie is still magic Nicks character was just giving him tools on how to use it like him vibrating the molecules is the magic part but the rest is the result of science. I kinda pity ppl who are unable to enjoy a fictional world where magic and science coincide and exist together cuz the many way those two things interact with each other can make for some interesting world building.

The Nicholas Cage songs and scenes, Tamara’s new character, two great comedians working off of each other flawlessly, how the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was created, a realistic depiction of every fan’s gullibility, the hamster rant - I admit, this is one of my favorite NC episodes!

I guess he is still hurt about the fight he and NC had a few episodes ago. I mean, sure, it was a scary situation with tensions rising and everyone saying things they didn't mean, but NC shouldn't have said what he did about Bill's cat. He knew that was a sore spot for Bill. You can see it in his face that he is still not completely over it.
Alexander if you ask me, it's because Nicholas Cage is in the movie, thus he has to make fun of it or nitpick at every single opportunity. It's a nice movie really and sadly never got a follow up. Some of this review is sincerely annoying to sit through.
Kenneth Ramos that's got to be Tony's doing. He's put out a couple of comedy music albums of his own, and had his stuff included on several Dr Demento albums.

Ofc the Nicholas Cage review gets on trending. It's fucking Nicholas Cage!
Oh thats so Bi-... you know what? That is actually pretty out of character for Bill.
I'm pretty sure this was just Malcom dressing up as Bill.
I know this is far fetched and kinda hard to believe... but you have no idea how advanced makeup artists and CGI is nowadays.
synical13 Llib
A Totally bs theory
I don'y buy it. No one can pull off being as cool as Bill.
Methinks they're actually building up Bill to be a villain at some point. Remember the time where it took him longer than usual to make his cameo?
blackphoenix77 go to the labyrinth review and you'll see what his origins are as an editor for the Muppet guy!
I speak cantonese and I couldn't understand the cantonese cage was speaking that's how shit it was
strawberrybankai12 hahaha!! Fantastic 😂😂
Ha wad hu lang
The most accurate description of Jay Baruchel's voice ever.
1:12 my reaction when summer break is over and school starts
This movie gave me memory loss when I was 10
Y4123 wtf
Y4123 uhhhhhhh
Y4123 care to explain?
i forgot i had seen this in theaters....memory loss too
A Ninja I saw this movie when I was 9 or 10 (summer of 2010) and afterwards I couldn't do mental math like I used to along with some other stuff
I swear to Berk that the guy that played Dave is the voice of Hiccup from the How to Train Your Dragon movies.
It is the same guy.
Next you'll tell me he was in This is the End and Tropic Thunder.
Yup, it's Jay Bartuchel. Bingo! Hello from Berk!
d good he is
d good He is
The Iron-Man mention is no longer sarcastic in the line up of "dead" main characters.
Fantasia Cinematic Universe (2018-present)
The Night on Bald Mountain (2018)
Dance of the Hours (2019)
The Pastoral Symphony (2020)
The Nutcracker (2021)
Rite of Spring (2022)
Breaking Bach (2023)
The Fantasiers (2024)
I'd watch those.
They still are taking more time for their team up film than DC.
Wow
lemme know when Night on Bald Mountain premieres, i'm so down.
I can't unhear Hiccup
At least Jay made that role work
god ssame
HOLY SHIT! Corey Taylor and NC? Just... HOLY SHIT!
Who else stopped breathing when they said "iron Man" in the list of characters that weren't killed...
Yeah I was checking the comments to see if anyone said anything about that
This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Complete with wooden Nic Cage, wooden female protagonist, and wooden discount Michael Cera.
Draukagrissah He doesn't even do Michael Cera.
I think that it's not the movie you like. You just really like wood.
Draukagrissah They should have a movie about woods
Draukagrissah It's a guilty pleasure of mine too. It's the movie that, when I was younger, really sparked my interest in magic (I know it's not real, but it's still awesome).
Jessie Eisenburg was in this movie?
I remember this movie being shit but enjoyable, and I had NO IDEA that this movie had anything to do with Fantasia.
Liam McFaul it actually doesn‘t (even though the similarities are intentional) because the specific scene in Fantasia itself is actually based on a very famous german poem called „Der Zauberlehrling“ by Goethe.
Kickass came out the same year and I think Nick Cage gave an amazing performance.
9:48 - 10:20 11:04 - 11:13 14:40 - 14:42 Tamara's crazy evil laugh is the best damn thing in the review 🤣👏👏👏
Yup I had tears in my eyes 😂
That and the creepy warp music from Jack and the Beanstalk they put behind when she stares
What about Nicolas cage intro?
uh no. it was funny for the first bit but went on way too long. irony since doug often criticizes jokes dragging on too long
@@godemperorofmankind3.091Yeah he does that all the time.
That opening was the best!!!! I could watch that 10 times over
yeah it was catchy
Best opening i have ever seen.
I did just that lol
18:53 Doug looks like some weird hybrid of Tommy Wiseau and The Undertaker there.
OH HAI TEDDY
YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, LESNAR!
What, Devil Boner? He's like the best NC character. He's if the MAN movies had a child with DOOM
Maybe Nicolas cage needs 9 more seasons to find that Mulan Szechuan sauce too
or 97 Years
"Too"? Roiland already got his Szechuan sauce. Cage needs to get on his level.
MoogieSRO mabee thats why season 3 is lack luster. He already got the sauce.
Roiland got it but Rick didn't
Nicholas cage will play Rick in the live action film, I'm calling it now
The Nicholas Cage songs and scenes, Tamara’s new character, two great comedians working off of each other flawlessly, how the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was created, a realistic depiction of every fan’s gullibility, the hamster rant - I admit, this is one of my favorite NC episodes!
Ah, classic Bill. Always pulling tricks.
No, he doesn't. I can't believe it's taken people this long to realise that Bill is just a memory parasite.
Finally! I thought I was the only one who noticed!
Memory parasite? You mean... like the one from Torchwood?
Rick and Morty.
+saruto715 What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that Critic apparently has Mr Fantastic arms?
Yes
Sarah Barker yes
Yes, because it scares me and I don't want to think about it.
"It's best not to question it."
*Sigh* I really miss The Fantastic Four.
That team was part of my childhood.
My Race to the Edge-loving ass is just seeing Hiccup and Viggo fighting in live-action
That sudden Starkid “Twisted” reference though. I was too pleasantly surprised :)
Yeah. This is all Jafar's fault
OMG!! Corey Taylor in NC? Fave episode from now on!
Time stamp?
Ben Blanks the end of the episode.
Ben Blanks you're supposed to watch the video first and then comment. It's like reminding one of my kids, chew your food before you swallow.
LarryMyster Dude... really? Let it go.
But what does Corey Taylor think of Corey Taylor being in a NC video?
As a huge Slipknot, Stone Sour, and NC fan, I almost shat myself when I saw Cory Taylor.
Richard_Rants same bro
bruh, I saw Stone Sour at Chicago Open Air and NC, Tamera, Rob Scallon, and Luke Spencer were off stage as guests, tell me you wouldn't have shat yourself then, I almost cried at that moment
I was expecting the joke but not that Cory was actually going to be there, like holy shit how did he manage that?
Touring brings you to strange places
Richard_Rants a
Why and how in the fuck did you get the guy from Slipknot to do a skit on your show
Who knows, who cares, just enjoy it.
Corey Taylor?
ToruKun1 he's a big fan of tgwtg. There's even a picture of him doing a show with a tgwtg t-shirt. The one with Doug dress like Bison shouthing OF COURSE!
+ToruKun1 Because Corey Taylor is awesome!
+Yanick Desforges
Huh. Well ya learn something new everyday, I guess.
31:57 "oh no they kill him" Ah, the days before endgame
Who else recognized the weird Jack and the Beanstalk noise when Tamara stopped laughing?
Timestamp?

BILL HOW COULD YOU
BANA Nawal mm-hmmm.
Do what? That was so Bill
Did their time during the garbage pail wars mean nothing to Bill?
I didn't like that joke it was so out of character for Bill
15:30 The fact that NC watches Rick & Morty, makes me happy...
I know right, anyway, you know why I'm here. I've come to bargain.
Nocturus i will tell you who. The us Government since they dont make Deals with Terrorist.
Nocturus me
Dormammu, I've come to bargain
But the fact that Corey Taylor has a Rick shirt on doesn't affect you at all.
For shame.
I switched the comments over to "newest" after hearing 32:08 and yep, everyone else had the same idea. Good group.
SPARKLE SPARKLE
USV Fuck yeah sparkle sparkle!
*OOOOOOOHHHHH!!!*
USV HECK YEAH SPARKLE SPARKLE SPARKLE!!!
FUCK YEAH SPARKLE SPARKLE!!!
SUNSHINE!!
"They go to see if they have any of that Mulan Szechuan dipping sauce" I JUST DIED OMG 😂😂😂
That Corey Taylor cameo was fucking hilarious.
NC NOTICED ME. I can die happy now
I'm in the movie...review.
To be fair, The Sorcerer's Apprentice was originally a poem and Disney just recreated it except had Mickey be the apprentice.
This is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it has its problems, but I can't help but enjoy it.
Michael Brandes Me too
Alexander Greene yeah, I honestly think this movie had a potential to be a franchise... The world in the movie is kinda fascinates me.
Alexander if you ask me, it's because Nicholas Cage is in the movie, thus he has to make fun of it or nitpick at every single opportunity.
It's a nice movie really and sadly never got a follow up. Some of this review is sincerely annoying to sit through.
I love the beginning song. Anyone else
Kenneth Ramos it's very catchy lol
Kenneth Ramos that's got to be Tony's doing. He's put out a couple of comedy music albums of his own, and had his stuff included on several Dr Demento albums.
Kenneth Ramos yes
Yep
Yes!
Am I the only one that's likes science and magic and enjoy it when they are mixed together. It makes the science and fantasy nerd in me happy
findyourcenter bbc not every fantasy movie needs it. It's contradicting
True true but if some well it can be a lot of fun
Not a lot of movies are good at doing that. The only recent movie that I know that did it well was Doctor Strange.
I enjoyed this movie for that too. IDK if you think I'm a strange person for it, but I liked it.
AT Productions I have ^.=.^
