Thanks for a nicely done tutorial. I especially appreciate you muting the "Hey Google" as it is a real pain to watch one that isn't doing and unfortunately that's most everyone. For a lot of folks the soundbar on their TV is one of the better speaker groups in their house. I plug a Chromecast Audio into mine and it becomes part of the group. Of course I have to use the soundbar remote to shift to the input used Chromecast Audio, but it works well.

Don't forget you can adjust the treble & bass on each individual speaker to fine tune the sound to your liking! Like making the Max speaker take care of the bass, changing any of the smaller Chromecast audio devices or Home Mini speakers to put out more treble or anything in between.

Brett I love your videos. I have two minis now and think I will get a third soon and have all three colors. I love the orange one. Wish they made an aqua one. Anyway, this was a great tutorial. The max is very big. I personally have no problem with the audio the minis put out. I got a white mini for my mother in law for Christmas and now I will tell her about your videos. a simple thing i wish to achieve additionally, bit different.
i have Android TV that doesn't have Bluetooth built in and the google home. (i saw all those bluetooth options/extensions, but don't want to add complexity where you have to permanently expect audio to come out of those aux output connected speakers)
simply, i would like to have option to cast audio to Google Home (from time to time depending on content i'm watching)...is there an app that can enable TV to throw audio output to the Google Home mini speaker, just over WIFI...not over Bluetooth
Also, i saw all those hometheatre expensive receivers where they have multiple HDMI inputs and optical input options but that doesn't seem fair option as i don't want to spend too much on this selective requirement as no use for those huge speakers and surround sound stuff

Can I connect chrome cast audio to Marshall speaker via aux and use google mini to tell it to play music to chrome cast audio through Marshall speaker?
Yes you can! Just make sure the Marshall Speaker is already turned on and set to the correct input for AUX. You can also make it play in a group with the Mini as well.

Hey can I connect two nest and one Google Nest Audio together?
Two years ago, oh wow, ...You still around? I got a google nest mini about a month ago, and I'm learning to like it real fast. I have several Bluetooth speakers throughout the home that are paired to the device. I do not see any way to add them to rooms to create speaker groups with them. I can set any one of them as default speaker, and that's as far as I can go.
It would sure be great if I could get them grouped. Is it possible with bluetooth speakers?
I'm still here! So is how grouping works is you would need a Nest Mini for each Bluetooth speaker that you want to add to the group. Hey Brett. Two Questions. 1) I understand how the smart smart outlets work to a degree. Do you have to leave the light turned on all the time and then the smart outlet just cuts the power to te lamp? 2) How did you turn on a hardwired appliance with the google eco system?
1.Yes, you need to leave the light switch on for a Smart Bulb to work.

It's so annoying how Google keeps making changes to the Home app. I try to follow along with this and it's just too different now...
My phone won't save the group I make. The group consists of a Chromecast and Google nest audio.
I am 'told' that communication with Google fails and to try again later.
Ofcourse I've tried lots of times; no change.
I've also tried to turn off two step verification, but that didn't help.
Both devices are installed correctly ( separately they work fine )
Who knows what to do ?
Does having more than one Chromecast Audio with a high number of speakers help with casting speed?
Hi Brett, how when I watch you video on your phone show all your devices and you can do things with them . I have Chromecast, Chromecast audio, Google Home Mini and on my samsung Galaxy 7 the Google Home and G Assistant, BUT every time I open the app don't show my devices like I can see on your phone ONLY "Linked Device" actually I have four. So, I can't do for example, Drop photo on Chromecast. And I don't understand why when we go outside for shopping or back from work, we try to watch YT videos don;t read our devices I have to unplug and plugin devices in order to show up; If they are already on the same wifi, registe on my account.....then why this happen. Thank Brett, I really enjoy and learn with your video.
+Angel L. Garcia Lopez That sounds like it might be a WiFi issue. Is the WiFi connected and turned on on your phone? Is this the same phone that set them all up?
Tech With Brett Yes, is the only phone that I use for everything on my account. My internet is good and fast and everything are on the same room devices and wifi router from Spectrum.
+Angel L. Garcia Lopez Ok, You may need to reach out to Google support or work with your internet provider. I will see if I can figure out what else to try. You may just want to reboot your Router and home devices to see if thst helps.

I have for about two weeks now my Google Home Mini. But sometimes it seems a bit lazy. In the first days I would say : Hey Google Good Morning, and she would reply normally to me. But in some days I say the same thing, she hears me (the sound and the lights blink) but she doesn't answer. Sometimes I have to say 3 times or even 4 in a row to get the usual answer, clock, forecast and other things. It's weird since she hears my voice because it makes the usual sound, the lights blink as she was thinking, but in the end I don't get an answer. Should I reset my Google Home Mini?
+TheMegamsp Just reboot it first and see of that helps but you might want to reset. Is lots of background noise?

Does the volume of the sound affect the sensitivity of the microphone? For example, if I put volume 2, will the sensitivity of the microphone will decrease as well?

I made a reboot through the app, and it seems that it didn't work. Today early in the morning (no noise), I said more than 4 times in a row and nothing. Hey Google, and I ear the sound and light stays on, then I immediately say good morning, the lights blink, as she was thinking but nothing happens. The volume was one light and half ( you know what I mean). Then i raised the volume to two lights and then it responded normally to me.
So I'm guessing that the microphone sensitivity goes up or down like the volume. Can you test this with one of your Google Home Mini? Thanks.

can you cast a youtube video by voice to an audio group without it asking you to sub to red? i can cast a youtube video from my phone to home or group manually but will it work for voice?
Now the ChromeCast Audio is no longer supported, do you know if the Chromecast 3 and Chromecast Ultra can do audio only or be included in a Chromecast Audio group?
Basically, I want a Chromecast Audio, but obviously cant get one, so I was wondering if a Chromecast 3 just hooked to an amplifier may work as a replacemet.

As long as your can plug it in and keep it on that input it should work great.
Is there a way to connect max with two mini's and have them work in surround sound during a movie?
There is not. They can only be grouped together for music playback.
Probably a silly question but does the Google home need to be apart of a group to actually use the voice controls? I have pretty high end Bluetooth speakers that I have scattered throughout including next to where I'm planning on putting my Google home. I'd prefer to just play through my quality speakers with the Chromecast audio and use the ease of voice commands withought having the music come out of it. Cheers
They on your need to be grouped if you want it playing on all the speakers at one time. You can have the Chromecast Audio set as the default music source for the Google Home, that way it will automatically play through your speaker of choice each time.
can you turn off only one or two devices in that group and let the rest play the music?
+Dusan Sostaric You could turn the volume down on that device if need be. Your can also create another group that has that device removed.
sorry i didnt understand it at the end, cant i use my chromecast streamingstick to group it with other audio chromecast devices to play music just from spotify or other just audio apps. i can accept that youtube doesnt work in a group but are other things possible and if yes, while the group is playing the music, what does the streaming stick show on the tv

Should I buy another Sonos Play 5 or a Google Home Max?
I have a Google Home. I bought a Sonos 5 because it has an auxiliary slot. I bought a Google Cast Audio device and plugged it into my Sonos 5. Now I can play anything I wish by voice command via my Google Play acct.
If I buy a 2nd Sonos Play 5 will they work together through my Google Home? Will I need to buy a 2nd Google Cast Audio device? Or will they NOT work together by voice command at all?
I will be grateful if you can answer my question.

+Danbbqman Do you need to change the input on the Sonos to listen to the Chromecast Audio? The main benefit of the Max would be Google Assistant built in and not worrying about input if that is a problem. You could go with another Sonos and then you would need a second Chromecast Audio device. You can pair them in a group just Like I do in the video. In the Google Home you can choose the group as the preferred way to listen to music and you can do it by voice. I hope that helps.
Tech With Brett Wow! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Yes. I have to set the Sonos app set as “auxiliary “. This makes everything run through the Google Audiocast device. I ask my Google Home to play an album and it it plays through the Sonos 5 speaker. I can change the volume by voice, too.
The thing is I paid $400 for the Sonos speaker. I want to pair it with another speaker to get some great sound in my living room/ kitchen. Will the new Google Max pair well with my Sonos 5? Or do I buy another Sonos 5 and operate both speakers through my Google Home? That brings me to my original question. Can I pair 2 Sonos speakers via one Google Home device?

+Danbbqman You only will be able to pair the Sonos if they have Chromecast Audio attached to them.
Going with the Max you will get the great speaker with Google Assistant and it will work with your existing setup.

Hey Brett,, I have watched a few of your tutorials on the google home and the mini. You actually convinced me to buy some for christmas. So I bought 1 google home and 3 mini's and 2 chromecast's. I have my whole house covered with these little jems and now I have a problem. Why are they all connected? I ask Google to play a music choice and I get it in all 3 rooms and the garage? it seems to me that I should be able to play 4 different kinds of music on 4 different devices? wouldn't you think? how do I separate them? I know if I ask the GHome to broadcast it will do that just fine, but I want my separation as one is for my Dad who lives with us and I don't want know what he is doing as he still needs his privacy.. Right? I have one in my garage, one in our master bedroom and one in my wife's crafting room. HELP ME PLEASE from this mess that I have made... +Van Keller Thank you for the follow! Have you created a group like in the video? It sounds like your Google Home is set to default to the group. Check on the settings of your Google Home app under the devices and under the Google Home you are talking to.
Great vids! Do you/does anyone know if you can put a chromecast ultra and a chromecast audio into one smart tv, essentially using a google home to play music on the tv's speakers (via the CC audio) or to play video (via the CC ultra)? ...Is that madness and there's a simpler way or will it not work at all?
I honestly had never thought of doing that but it should work if you change to correct input and your TV allows for an input from the Chromecast Audio through 3.5mm or an Optical cable. But just to be clear you can not pair the Google Home and the Chromecast (video) audio channels together.
Hello jedi master once you have created a home group can you use the broadcast feature to only sound on the specific group? For example i get my kids a mini each and make just there speakers into a group would i be able to broadcast to just those speakers?

Brett, I know this video is old, but I am having trouble with audio sync to a chromecast in my speaker group. I have 6 devices in the group, several minis, a home hub, a home speaker, and a Chromecast. The chromecast is outputting to a surround sound receiver. This way, I can cast audio to the entire group, and it comes over my 5.1 channel surround sound with the other devices simultaneously. When I first set up this group, a 30ms delay correction was needed for the chromecast to get in sync with everything else. It worked great!
However, then an update of some sort happened and reset this delay correction. Now, it's WAYYY off. Even with the maximum 200ms delay correction, the chromecast, which outputs through surround sound, is still out of sync. How do I fix this? Is there a way to reset a sync for a group? Google support has been no help, and I've tried deleting the devices/group and setting them up again with no luck.
I wish they did not limit the delay correction.
That is too bad. I was surprised by how limited it was. Is it possible to try having just the sound come out of the TV in the group and see if it gets better? If not it mostly likely could be the Chromecast. But since you have reset I am not sure why. What Generation is it?

I grouped a chromecast audio through my bose soundtouch and a home mini, and I find the music doesn't sync perfectly. Do you experience this?
+Ca S Mine have actually worked great. In the Chromecst Audio settings there is an option to adjust group delay. Have you played with that?

Did the group create successfully? What app are you trying to cast from? You may need to close the app and try again.
I have the Google home app and yes all speakers,spear in the group and are checked. I can get it to play on single speakers. Just not as a group

Yep! They can all be put in a group.
Can you do stereo mode
There is only stereo mode if you have two Google Home Maxes. It is just multi-room monk other than that.
It doesn’t recognize when I say “play on home Audio Group” The Group is there but I can’t get it to work.
+Dave the Vegan Have you linked the home or audio group to your account. You might also want to try changing the name of the group. It could take a few minutes for your changes to take place.
Very disappointed.. I read there had been software update avlong time ago which allows speakers to be connected to TV... so I bought 2 max ... here us a major sync delay....
That update was specifically for Audio Groups between Chromecast and Google Homes. How do you have your Max's connected to the TV? Have you tried using Bluetooth or connecting with an AUX cable?
