I wanted to setup multi room audio in my new house, but couldn't find an affordable solution. You can pick some up here: geni.us/chromecastaudio
At 1/10th the cost of a Sonos system, how well would $140 bucks worth of Google Chromecast Audio's work?

Great review, now i just need a house. :)
nopulsar L0l
well if you have a massive system in can cost the same as a house
not a great house though
Lmfaoooooo 🤭🙌🏽😂😭😭 same
😂😂
That "tv stand" in your bedroom gives me chills... oO ;-)
He did say its a new house.
j jarry yes he did, but non the less: i'd be afraid to kick it down by passing it by... ;-)
Box could be fully of crap. So maybe there no worries.
still the boxe has no sturdyness at all pluss, with the bass, it could vibrate and fall.
@@TechBoss wen haben wir denn da? Die Welt ist klein. :D
this is awesome
having speakers everywhere playing in sync us waaay nicer than having 1 cranked up
This is a way better solution than using Sonos. And it doesn't even require that much more effort getting set up.
Top three reasons for getting Chromecast over Sonos:
1. OMG the price difference!
2. Wider ecosystem of apps for streaming. Sonos only support its own app which integrates (sometimes badly) with other apps...
3. Use the speaker hardware you already own.
But if someone has no speakers then I'm sure Sonos can be just as cheap for full house at just 150$ a speaker.
@@rabbidpotatoegaming4514 Yeah, $150 for their smallest speaker that is the size of my google home? Hell no. You can buy a great set of bookshelf speakers and a chromecast for that amount and would probably sound better. Will definitely be louder and have more bass.
Niklas Rasmusson wait so everything he said in the video???
sweet video bro. i didn't imagine the chrome audio was that useful.
yeh man, glad you liked it
This was such a good solution to get decent sound without shelling out tons of money. google killing this was such a massive blow. Zero affordable speakers out there have this functionality.
This is so cool I had no idea this could be done. I can definitely see myself doing something like this.
First thing first the house looks nice and thanks for the info really nice
Wow way to Put Sonos Out of Business, buying 3 Chromecasts tomorrow
IceColdKilax I, too drooled over (overpriced) Sonos for years. Now Google has given me more than what I dreamt of for a fraction of the cost. Kicked Sonos right in the teef. :)
but only with streaming services like spotify, you cant stream you own library :/
christian jensen Can't stream your own library with CC? It's quite easy to do with Plex. I'm sure there are other options, too. Plex works great for streaming your own library. I used it just the other day for that Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown album. Granted, I usually just use my Google Play Music subscription. Check out Plex, it's a wonderful program for organizing and playing all your media. It even has a Roku app.
it is fully possible search spotify local files
@@christianjensen405 There are many apps including google play music that allow you to play all your local files and cast them
NOYCE! Ballin on a budget. Thanks for the great idea. I just ordered myself (3) of these devices. Excellent video.
hehe, excellente. hope you enjoy them as much as i
Thank you. I have been considering the same set up for my home and you on advertently answered many of my questions.
Sweet! I may try this later. Your videos always make me want to spend. Love the house too!
thanks snac. haha, a gift and a curse.
ha my b shane, i haven't uploaded it yet, but i will this week, sorry about that!
Imagine accidentally watching porn on "Home" mode instead of your headphones ^^
ha, big oops
Shit happens;)
YEP.
that's actually impressive how there was no delay between devices and systems. nice one.
nice to see you back fresh!
the setup + the house = awesome :) you just earned my sub
Gorgeous House man, keep up the great work!
preciate it samir
That's fucking awesome. I didn't know that you could sync them up like that! Now I see why people might use them.
Very nice video bro! Thinking of buying a Chromecast audio for my pc speakers and this video summons up nicely all the features and capabilities.
I love the atmosphere in your basement room.
thansk a lot, i put some thought into it!
congrats on the 10 k subs man! hope the channel grows a lot bigger by next year!
hey man thanks a lot!
Thanks for the comprehensive review! I've ordered a couple of Chromecasts. Googling, I unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out a solution for Audio books yet though. I'm using Audible, Storytel and CloudBeats on iOS. You don't happen to have any ideas for how to get audio books playing through CC audio? Thanks again for all the great info.
i don't unless any of those services have a web app, then you could stream it from your browser. otherwise you just gotta hope they support it in the future
techfreshness Thanks for the reply. Crossing fingers. CC Audio seems like some great tech.
I use Audible on my Pixel phone, in the drop down for android there's a cast icon that will cast anything on the phone to chromecast displays or speakers. Vizio has displays and speaker systems with chromecast built in so that's how I do it. Maybe there's something similar available with IOS? I don't know anything about iphones.
Thats awesome :) Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I guess it's an eco system thing. On iOS it works the same with anything AirPlay. It's native. However iOS does not support casting natively and Chromecast does not support receiving an AirPlay stream :/ The Chromecast Audio still rocks. Got two of them :) But this island:ing of eco systems is of course unfortunate :/
it really is
Great setup! I always wondered how the audio cast would work with multiple pieces, thanks for sharing bud!
brilliant!! This is exectly what I've been looking for! Thanks for this bro.
Damn son, nice house! You're a big reason why ours is fitted with hues. I've been considering buying these for the past year, didn't even know they all synced up like that.. AND optical audio?? Temptation...
thanks! and haha thats funny, well hope you are loving the hues! they are really such a great cheap option for the whole house (the chromecasts i mean)
techfreshness I definitely am! I make my own music so the thought of filling my whole house with it is kiiiinda bad ass lol
what kind of music?
techfreshness It's hard to say.. I'm *mainly* influenced by classical and rnb. I'm somewhere between Mozart and Dr. Dre (call me Nurse Dre lol) So I guess it falls somewhere in line with that. I don't discriminate much with genres, but don't get down much with country... Idk what I am, just musically fueled and experimental ;-)
ha thats cool, i love it all including some country........do you have a soundcloud?
Keep the party going in the bathroom..
ha, you don't wanna know WHAT goes on in there
Michael Armellino where the real magic happens
that's where the pissing everywhere an throwing up happens man!
Never seen you before but i enjoyed basically everything about this video
Fantastic work! Looking for other options to wire up whole house audio. Either going to run wires to all rooms, or go this route. Will probably cost the same for both setups. I love that everything syncs up perfectly in your setup, good work on Google's side.
that's awesome man
Nice video! I am a Sonos guy and I did not realize that the new chromecast can do seamless distributed home audio. Sounded awesome. Because of the price of Sonos it has taken me years to get the 4 zones in my house - I could have done this solution, including the cost of powered speakers for less than the cost of a Sonos play5. I love my Sonos though! ;-P

Thanks for taking the time to post this. Saved me from buying a SONOS setup that was just a bit much for days when i'm just cleaning the house!
ha, i hear that
Just got a couple Chromecast Audio's after seeing this video. Great job on the demo!
You are now one subscriber richer :)
Dude your house is amazing!! May I ask what you do for a living?
yep yep, i do youtube now, but i did corporate finance for colgate palmolive for like 16 years. thanks a lot for the compliment, we love the house
techfreshness I might do finance as major, how long is your work week if you don’t mind me asking? Are the 60 hour work weeks true?
Nice House! It looks very new! Congrats!
I was looking for a solution like this a few years ago but had the same experiences you mentioned. I ended up going with an FM transmitter module on my main audio source, which currently is Amazon Fire TV streaming Spotify and sometime Pandora. This worked well for my situation because I have a lot of tabletop radios throughout the rooms of my house and garage. Radios such as Tivoli and Bose. I even have one vintage Pioneer receiver in my office and bought a couple ebay cheapy vintage Sony tabletop radios for the backyard.
The advantages of this system is that I have no syncing/paring to worry about - ever. No extra modules or wires to add to each receiver. And I can have unlimited number of receivers.
for some reason, you saying 'auxiliary' completely, instead of saying it shorter as "ox or aux", soothed me. I don't know why.
SlowlyLosinIt cuss u like the D
SlowlyLosinIt same here. Sooooothed.
Very interesting, thank you. The white plastic box you have your surge protector and cables in cuts visual clutter nicely. Can you provide a link to that product?
hey robert, yeah they are amzn.to/2gpI9lW in case you haven't found by now (kind of expensive for a plastic box tbh), but they work great, i have 3 of them ha
nice review! glad to see you back on the tube!
ha thanks homie!
Very nicely done. I hadn't realized they could be used this way. Perhaps I will also be doing this sometime in the future.
What mix was this, im feeling the song at 10:20 :D
Now your home reminds me of Ikea
best one i seen on google voice yet, good job dude.
I'm a foodie and a working musician; great sound quality is essential for me and I really like what you've started here. Thank you. Music in the kitchen is the biggest advantage for me when I'm in recreational music mode, and having streaming throughout the house during a dinner party is very effective. My guests always ask how I do it and now I can refer them to your solutions too. I'm using Airport Express units pretty much exactly like you're using the pucks and helping the whole thing along with Airfoil. I agree that Airfoil has synch issues but for me, those were only a problem when I tried to mix Apple gear with anything else like Android or bluetooth devices. Blame Apple I suppose but I like that you're offering a low-cost option for in-synch streaming. My two-cents worth is that Airport Express units can be found used/cheap and if utilised in a Mac-only environment can produce a completely satisfactory result. Thanks again.
THIS is why Google is leading.
Google the ultimate disrupter; say what you will of Alphabet, that's what they are.
You should put one in the bathroom. Google will want to hear what's happening in there, too.
Mojoman57 there is not mic on the chromcasts
ryandudea72 paranoid...who cares if googl knows what ur doing anyway
Grant Meinerding Cool. Then you probably won't mind giving me the login and passwords to all of your email and social networking accounts, right? I mean, if you have nothing to hide then what's the big deal? It's called privacy and it's worth more than you understand.
Mojoman57 I just don't care if Google has audio From my house they can't do much with it amyways
+Mojoman57 That's a bit different, Google already knows all my passwords and gmail and is a huge corporation, but still Google won't access my bank account or use my gmail or anything because they profit for services not stealing money, that would be against both my and Googles interests . You on the other hand aren't a international mega corporation which profits from serving the customers.
Thank you for designing such a solution
Great effort in explaining the whole thing.Makes lot of sense. Good work as usual.. Thanks..
appreciate the support focuzzzz

wow, what an id, nice job, ha
OMG i love you! thanks !
OMG thank you so much dude I was searching for this comment😂 I really like the song hahaha
Greetings from germany, thanks for giving me the song name:)
Haha real dancehead. Respect
it would be nice to do a intercom over the music.
Add a Google Home into the different rooms and say, "Hey Google, Broadcast keep the party goin'!" from your phone's google assistant.
I like the feng shui of your house :) seem like a chill dude so you've earnt my subscription and the notification bell :D keep the cool content coming x
Perfect video...excellent work sir
what's up with the right ear audio in this video?
It's in the left
And then there is Apple.. making a Laptop without ports... so inovative!
Apple is all about the future and moving on from the past. "Think Different" . The future is entirely wireless systems. It really is more convenient that way. You wouldn't catch apple making this kind of device. He would not need this set up if he had newer hi-fi wireless systems which currently cost $$$$ for a multi room set up. Google however, tends to jump on the opportunity to make a money on easy solutions. I think its crazy that a device like this has not been around for years. I have been looking for years now, only to find most devices were of crappy quality.
redbaron19461676 you are an idiot. But that's ok, because of people like you Apple can make money...
Yeah. The only Apple Device I have is my iPhone. All my other tech is microsoft, windows or samsung. I don't lean towards apple or google or Microsoft. But I guess I am an idiot for believing the future is wireless. More companies are catching on to the train. I used to be like you, hostile against anyone that likes Apple. But I was broke back then.
also, USB-C is going to be the main port for most things soon. It is just so new that not many are using it right now. it is *innovation.
+redbaron19461676 Future is not sacrificing performance for looks and thinnes.
Thanks for this video. I was thinking about Sonos and was complete unaware that Chromecast audio allowed this.
Nicely done. Heck of an idea.
where you get that white box at 4:00
Jonathan Nguyen looks like IKEA
I also need to know
that's called CableBox (yes, really!). Manufacturer is BlueLounge, and it was around 50 euros back then. IKEA came with an alternative for 15 euros.
Your Tv📺is on a box. LoL
lol he just moved i saw it too lol
👍🏼 Are you in California? Nice 🏠
Nice🏠
ha lol and thanks, i love your emotes
emotes are cancer!
Great video excellent exploration and research! Really good presentation too!
pretty cool!! I need this for my house.
i like it cose you listen to "di.fm" great music
haydeezz yes same😂😂
so great! and they just added chromecast support to ios
your neighbors don't complain?
It is in the day, and he lives in a house. I don't think it is too annoying for them
+Tobiashal in my house, you can hear music all the way in my neighbor's backyard from my littke Bluetooth speaker on max volume lol
did u saw the size of his freaking house? like srly.. lol
weird maybe that's because I live a colder country where the walls and windows are better insulated.
I think that's the point of this setup: You can have the overall volume *lower* at each set of speakers, and still hear the music clearly throughout the house, unlike what my wanker neighbours do and crank their system full volume in their garage so they can hear it in the rest of their house... and the rest of the neighbourhood has to put up with their shitty music.
Thank you so much!!!! Doing this at my office this week!!!!
That's awesome, thanks for the video.
I feel bad for your neighbors
luckily they all pretty cool
put this on 1.25 speed then it seemed normal
That's funny because it's true!
ha yeah? i need to light a fire then
Haha just tried @ .5 and he sounds drunk as fcuk!
I don't get all these stupid ass IPUT IT ON FUCKiING wARPsPeEd and It sounDeD Normal comments its basically saying To them fuck you you talk too slow just go watch another video and before you tell me that it's just an opinion let me tell you keep it to yourself you don't need to let everyone know that you think he is slow
That definitely helped but still good video.
Ordering my Chrome Cast Audio now! Thanks man.
great video. thanks for sharing how you set that all up!
get yourself a lavalier mic and a recorder or hook it up to your camera.... the way you are talking you start normal and you end up in a mumble.
How many people live in this house? As an Asian we could probably fit at least three generations in that backyard alone
lol man
Damn, lolololol!
This was exactly what I needed to see
Great review! Beautiful house bro!
I could only hear you from the left side of my house..
Maybee Gaming 😂😅
hey maybee, not sure what you mean?
I'm teasing. Your audio isn't balanced.
oh yeh my b, i will fix that in the future its cuz the stereo mic on my camcorder and its to the right of my face, thanks for pointing that out.
does anyone else Think that his voice sounds like jack black
@mikediegameing yeah I can hear it a little bit lol

Thank you!! I have been looking for this!
Very nice 👍 I now get some Chromecast audios:) Thanks for that demo!
I can clearly see 666 on the logo, I will never buy that
ha, what logo? the chromecast or mine?
The chrome logo is like a 6 in three directions terrifictop10.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/google-chrome.jpg

ha interesting, did you know they also changed their corporate 'don't be evil' motto?
Really really well done! Well explained, well demonstrated, well paced. A fantastic video that I will be pointing friend family and clients to when they ask me to explain Chromecast Audio. Thank you for your time and efforts.

Thank you! I've been looking for a easy solution that isn't expensive.
You have an Amazing House mate.. Loved the video too.. Im surely doing this whenever I feel the need ;)
Thank you so much for doing this video you saved me from buying a system that I didn't want allowing me to use speakers that I already have. Thanks so much!!! PS Nice Home!
great video thanks for the demo
Great video, subscribed!
How did I not know about this! Thanks for this video. I will be doing this!
you can stream the same audio to multiple rooms using apple tv's, i do this all the time. itunes lets you choose the airplay devices..also you can use the remote app to enable/disable speakers/airplay devices
