Brett - - I have 4 google home mini and one google nest 1st generation. I have been searching the internet and UA-cam to see if I can control my ceiling fan with google home. The reason is often times I crawl into bed and read awhile and then I need to either control the fan speed or turn the fan off. I am all ready nicely snuggled in bed and then I have to get up and walk across the room to do that. Could you please tell me if this can be done with my google home? Thank you in advanced.

If I ask for directions to say the airport, it give me a verbal map overview and travel time, Google Home then states it is sending details to my phone, but nothing ever appears on my phone. What gives? Thanks.

Hey Brett, just watched your first video here and immediately subscribed because you go in depth with describing all of the features of the products and I learned alot from just this one video that I hadn't heard before on other videos when it comes to how the Google Home devices are setup and function. I do have a question though - What's the real difference(s) between the Google Home & Google Home mini???? I currently only have the original Chromecast connected to my main tv and wanted to start setting up newer devices which will eventually control my entire home automation system but didn't want to get devices that I really don't need such as possibly the Google Home & Chromecast Audio since I can already play music from my phone to my Chromecast. If I can get away with just having a Google Home mini in each room, that would be ideal & cheaper. Sorry for the drawn out message here!!!!!

I learned so much . AWESOME Now instead of saying "Hey google play the "The Crown on Chromecast TV" I can say "Hey Google play The Crown" since I learned to give devices smaller names. I have a google Home and mini. Just changed the settings on the Google home to default media only automatically to the TV. (I had to give my devices shorter names because my dog has learned to start barking so loud when I say hey google and then it can't hear me.) Shorting the words I now have to say solved a nightmare.
I'm really interested in the stereo pairing feature on the Google Home Max. I kind of wish that feature was available on the other Google Home products. If I had 2 Google Home Minis in the living room for instance, and I put them into a group, would it be possible to set one up as the left channel and the other as the right channel? I can't seem to get my PoS goole home mini to connect, let a lone take and advantages of advanced settings. I've looked through every online resource and video, and mine just stays in a vicious loop of doom (yes I have blue tooth enabled and yes I have tried the various wifi settings back and forth). I must have a defective unit, I'm just going back to my Amazon Acho Show, it setup in seconds in the same environment and same smart phone. Sad that Google can't make this work easy considering they control the O/S, the app, and the hardware.

My Google home suddenly changed to 3hrs ahead. Alarm time in the app is the correct time but the hub mini says the wrong time. I changed the address and it said the correct time once but now it says the wrong time again.

Taylor Csemez if you link one account, you cannot listen to different songs on different devices at the same time. Family members will have to take turns listening to what they want. The family account let's different devices play different songs at the same time.
When I say the hotword my TV's(Sony Android TV.) volume is temporarily lowered till I finish the command, both are connected to the same WiFi. Is there any way to avoid this??
I have not check the Android TV settings lately but I don't believe there is a way unless there is an option under that Device in the Google Home devices tab.

Hey Brett! Love the videos! We got google home for Xmas. One thing I'm having trouble with is the calander. My work phone is a android powered Blackberry and google does not give me my calander info when I ask about my day. I downloaded the google calander on my Blackberry and it also does not recognize the events in there either. Can I please make a slight correction? The Apple Music option only allows you to play Apple Music content via voice commands on your iOS device, this does not allow you to play Apple Music content on an Android phone, or dedicated Google Home compatible device. However, there is a way to play Apple Music content on your Google Home device, and that's via Bluetooth. If you turn Bluetooth on and pair it with an iOS device, you will be able to play content through your Google Home and you will have limited voice action functionality, you will be able to play, pause and move through tracks. If you want to request a song on Apple Music via voice, you'll need to use Siri.
No worries Brett. In addition to that, I should also point out that if you don't have the Google Assistant app installed on your iOS device, the option that allows Google Assistant to control Apple Music content won't even show up at all. It's interesting to note that if you are an iPhone user as I am, and you select any of the settings on the main menu in Google Home, if you also have the Google Assistant app installed, when you select an option off the main menu, you'll be taken to the Google Assistant app, I think this is so you can change your Google Assistant related settings for all devices that can access Google Assistant on your account, does that make sense?

You cant setup the device itself, but what we found out is that you can control it from that app if you setup on a phone/tablet. Also we found out that if you put your finger on one side of the Mini, it turns off. (you have to hold you finger down for 3 seconds)
Can someone help with a G.E. light switch. The light works through my assistant on my phone, however I can't get it to work with my google home. I have it set up through smartthings.
+Stanley Sandle Have you tried re-linking your Smart Things account? I would start there. You could also ask the Google Home to sync lights to see if that helps.

It is able to respond to anyone that uses the wake word, but it will only respond to your with your personal information. You can also setup digital well being where it will only play certain content for you and not for others that ask it.

Tech With Brett K I tried everything. Location is good. Says it cannot play sound? Both on the map and by mini. The cast version is different from the new update. Just don't know how to update it? Last 3 digits are 429 for new.

We have three minis. One of them is still on east coast time and we moved to mountain time over a year ago. How do you change the time zone

+rfrancoi Yes it does. It has to be Cast enabled. So you could attach a Chromecast Audio to the speaker and then it will work.

Can I please make a slight correction? The Apple Music option only allows you to play Apple Music content via voice commands on your iOS device, this does not allow you to play Apple Music content on an Android phone, or dedicated Google Home compatible device. However, there is a way to play Apple Music content on your Google Home device, and that's via Bluetooth. If you turn Bluetooth on and pair it with an iOS device, you will be able to play content through your Google Home and you will have limited voice action functionality, you will be able to play, pause and move through tracks. If you want to request a song on Apple Music via voice, you'll need to use Siri.

No worries Brett. In addition to that, I should also point out that if you don't have the Google Assistant app installed on your iOS device, the option that allows Google Assistant to control Apple Music content won't even show up at all. It's interesting to note that if you are an iPhone user as I am, and you select any of the settings on the main menu in Google Home, if you also have the Google Assistant app installed, when you select an option off the main menu, you'll be taken to the Google Assistant app, I think this is so you can change your Google Assistant related settings for all devices that can access Google Assistant on your account, does that make sense?

+Matt Kolmakov I believe so since it will run the Android app but I have not tried it. Please let me know if that works! It may not because you need the Google Assistant.
You cant setup the device itself, but what we found out is that you can control it from that app if you setup on a phone/tablet. Also we found out that if you put your finger on one side of the Mini, it turns off. (you have to hold you finger down for 3 seconds)
Can someone help with a G.E. light switch. The light works through my assistant on my phone, however I can't get it to work with my google home. I have it set up through smartthings.
+Stanley Sandle Have you tried re-linking your Smart Things account? I would start there. You could also ask the Google Home to sync lights to see if that helps.
Hey what else can I do to get my GE light switch to work with the google home. I have it connected through smartthings. It works through the phone assistant. I tried relinking the and I tried telling google to find the lights. It shows in the room I have it assigned to in the google home.

It is able to respond to anyone that uses the wake word, but it will only respond to your with your personal information. You can also setup digital well being where it will only play certain content for you and not for others that ask it.
