Dave Wells, Fantastic job on what had to be a very difficult restoration! And for saving a car at a time that nobody else would have. Thanks Lou for the feature of special Mopar you're not going to see anywhere else..........
My dad had a 70 Plymouth Sport Satellite this brings back memories especially the rims and the center console. His had dual exhaust and a 383. Almost 50 years later it is still one of my favorite cars. And this car is fantastic! Thanks.

Dad had a 70 Fury I w/ a 318. Nothing like this car, of course. Seeing that dash brought back so many memories. I learned to drive in that car. Can't imagine driving anything so big again. It was 17 Ft. long. IT WAS HUGE INSIDE!

In 1990, at age 17, my first car was 20 years old! Older than me, but fantastically unique even back then, too. I had the 1970 Sport Fury S-23. Sure, not the 440 like the GT, only the 318. Lou asks if it was underpowered? Not that I could tell! The 318 was super reliable, and I drove it like a tank. Problem was in gas mileage, I can only imagine the 440 being even worse on fuel economy. Selling that car to go off to college remains my biggest regret ever! Lots of great memories, (including senior prom night in 1991- when I raced a 1987 Eagle Talon and blew its doors off on the way to the dance- LOL!) and this video helps them come all flooding back! Thank you, Lou. I have been waiting for one of these to come around and get featured. This was a real treat for me this morning! I only have a few pictures of me and the car left, but now I have this video too.
Jason Kline love your story! I never even realized there was a Fury S-23 model until this video. One correction, Eagles Talons didn't come out until 1990. I should know, a family member special ordered one the first year they came out, 1990.
I thought his was a few years old at the time, so my memory picked 1987. If it was newer, then that makes the story even better! We weren't drag racing or anything, but after the first time he blew past me ( I knew him as an acquaintance), I put my foot down and passed him with a vengeance. I'm pretty sure those Talons were like a rebadged Mitsubishi Eclipse. I'm sure he would have beat me off the line, but since the Plymouth was all top end, I was doing 90-100 with pedal to spare. He never managed to catch up, but may be he had to be less reckless with his dad's NEW car, then I had to be that night raging full of adolescent testosterone and my FURY didn't let me down!. LOL! BTW, my girlfriend wasn't too pleased at the time, but we had a great night still the same! Good Catch, and Thanks!
Jason Kline since you actually owned a S-23, can you tell us more about it? Loaded? Colors? How you found it. Yes the Eagle Talons and Plymouth Lasers were rebadged Mitsubishi Eclipses. They were build by Diamond star motors. I miss that Eagle Talon today like you miss your Sport Fury S-23. Is a super rare car today as ours was a special order car with all the trimmings.
OK. My story is exactly the reason why you don't buy a classic car for a 17 year old kid. My parents were separated, and she lived in an apartment complex that was probably 60% retirees. An older gentleman had the Sport Fury, and If he wasn't the original owner he was the second. He had it a long time, but had done some electrical work to it. Electrical problems were the worst part of the car. In this video, where the rear window defogger is, this guy had installed an after market 3rd brake light on mine, and the hide-away headlights never worked (stuck in open position). I think we paid him about 1500 or so cash, in 1990, for what my mom thought was an OLD worn out car. I had learned to drive in other family cars, but this was my first car, just for me. I needed to drive to school for my senior year, and we had got it that summer. Didn't do much work to it, but it did need a distributor cap and rotor at one point, and we did the water pump. As for my example, it was a faded red color, with the black strobe pin stripping, and a black vinyl interior. It wasn't loaded by any means, a basic version, but did have factory air that didn't work. I had managed to give it a few dings, and get a couple of speeding tickets. But it was a great car. Like I said, at the time I had to get ready to go off to college, a regular 3 hour commute to come back home to visit seemed like a lot of miles to put on an already high mileage car, and my Dad talked me into selling it to get something better on gas economy. He never told me how much he sold it for, and I saw it drive around town for a little while after. I had instant remorse, and just knew that the reason my dad never told me how much he got for it was that it wasn't enough. Even if we had just parked it, that thing would be worth a ton more than we ever spent on it by now. The video is accurate in that the GT had all the options. The S-23 was a stripped down, budget model. The surprise for me is that some came with the slant 6, presumably out of a Duster? THAT might have been underpowered because these are long heavy cars. But the 318 was a pretty decent v8, and hadn't yet been plagued to meet emission standards. In fact 1972 was the last year for the Sport Fury, because 1973 requirements couldn't be met in the platform. I didn't have it long, just over one year, but it was long enough to fall in love with the car forever.
Jason Kline awesome story. Was there any badges on the car that stated it was a S-23? How could anyone know that it was an S-23 by looking at it? I think the 6 cylinders only came in the Fury I and II. Even the S-23 base engine was the 318 V8 but could be optioned with the 383. So the only option your car had was the Air conditioning?
Wow a super restoration of the Plymouth fury GT! Love the blue color and the engine sound! He has a awesome GT! I bet that is a quick one too! Very very nice car and thanks to the owner for saving it! Thanks for sharing this with us Lou!
That B7 BLUE WAS A GREAT COLOR. It looked great on the 70 RT/SE Charger 440. Mine is B7 and.i get more questions on the color. Ive had it repainted 3 times. It runs a 1/4 at a time. 53 yrs old and had since 16 yrs old. My grandfather bought it from Grand Spaulding Dodge where i later worked!! Miss them days
This is one of my favourite cars that you’ve toured. That offset trunk lock, tilt/ rim-blow, quad exhaust are just a few of the details that are just so right.

A truly gorgeous entry from the folks at Mopar. This was undoubtedly the coolest land yacht that Chrysler ever built. I would LOVE one of these... AND a 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 hardtop.
Thanks for sharing all these magnificent C bodies! I’ve owned three Newports, a 71, 73 and 77 and enjoyed each one. Those look like Coker replica polyglass tires. I dig the 67 Fury convertible that drove by in the background.
Thanks Lou, for sharing another Great Car ! I really appreciate all the work you do providing these Videos. The "Hideaway" Wipers are a Great Feature. The Car looks better and in Cold weather, they protect the Wipers from Freezing to the Windshield. Also if the Wipers do Freeze to the Windshield, they are so close to the engine that the heat released from the engine will unfreeze them in a couple minutes. I lived up in Canada, when I was in University doing my Masters Degree. I had a 1980 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with Hideaway Wipers, Never once did I have to fight with frozen in place wipers.
Hi Lewis Yoder, Glad to read you enjoy this car and consider it "awesome" :-) Sounds you you enjoyed your 1968 too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou, You really do show your subscribers some very beautiful cars! Most of these Sport Fury’s were harvested for their engines and left for the crusher making them one of the rarest of The Chrysler’s crop for 1970. This one with all it’s options is a real treat to see. Thx again Lou (The former Bradydog23)

If Mopar was to make these again, their doors would be flooded with buyers. Me being right there too. Love these cars. Very comfortable with speed. Thanks Lou and to the guy who shows it. Outstanding.
A very Big and BEAUTIFUL car. It has such a Sturdy body, unlike the newer car. Hard to find that car in the streets of America nowadays. STUNNING model WOW!
The 70 model also came with what they called the 90% power steering. Some said it allowed over steering but i never had a problem with it. This is still my dream car today. I regret ever trading mine in for a new car.
Nice Sport Fury. Oh these old Dodges and Plymouths bring back memories. I would ride my bicycle over to the nearest Chrysler-Plymouth dealership and peer into the windows of every vehicle, and read the sheets in the windows. I'm sure they wondered why there were fingerprints and noseprints on the windows! 😄 The blue Dodge Charger behind Dave's car is so beautiful too. Thank you Lou!
One of my favorite all time cars! Lou you did another 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury GT in a white exterior owned by a father/son that was beautiful. But honestly, this one in Jamaica Blue is gorgeous with that gold/yellow reflective strip. I guess Air conditioning couldn't be had on the 440 six pack either? Lol. Probably being a Buffalo N.Y. car, the rear defogger was more of a necessity than the Air conditioning option. And who doesn't love the hideaway headlight? Dave was awesome and knowledgeable.
I'm a huge Mopar fan and I had no idea any Sport Fury GT's came from the factory with the 440 Six Barrel. I think I just found my new favorite full size muscle car LoL
A friends, brother bought 70 Cuda pistol grip 4 speed with 440 4 barrel N - 50's with aluminum slots and dual exhaust. Both of us would sit in the passages as kids as he ran threw gears. Man, that car was fast as it was cool! He wrecked it 3 days later spent some time it the hospital. But when he got the insurance check. He bought a Super Bee 383 automatic and a spoiler. That car was just as cool too! Shawn
My first car in 1995 was a army jeep green 71 Fury 3 two door hardtop 318. My elderly great uncle still has a red/white top 68 Sport Fury 383 with white interior.
I too took my driving test in a Mopar. It was a 1970 Newport 2 door in black with gold interior, 8 track and air. The DMV tester failed me for not getting the parallel parking perfect. Devastated, I later found out the jerk flunks all kids at 16. He apparently didn't feel we were experienced enough. I did go back 2 weeks later and passed. That car was amazingly fast and fun to race down the streets!

beautiful car - my favorite year for Fury - I was fortunate to have grown up during the era when these beauties were new in the Holley Motor Co. showroom in Tyler, Texas (east Texas’ only full line Chrysler dealer - including Imperial) my grandfather traded our 4 company cars every 2-3 years and - we traded our 68 Ember Gold metallic/white vinyl roof Fury III 2-door Fast Top and a 68 Hawaiian Blue Sport Suburban 2-seat wagon (both Commando 383-equipped) for a 70 Sunfire Yellow/black vinyl roof Sport Fury 2-door hardtop and a 70 Sandpebble Beige Sport Suburban 2-seat wagon - both 70 models were equipped with 383 engines and hood-mounted turn signals adjacent the “383” hood-mounted engine displacement badges. All “Sport” Fury models including Sport Suburban wagons were equipped with the red, white and blue rectangle adjacent the driver side concealed headlamp door. The grilles/headlamp doors on these cars had a black background with horizontal argent silver painted lines (I believe the GT and S/23 models had fully blacked out grilles but I need some verification of this detail). the sales brochure pictures appear to bear this out - by the way the chrome styled road wheel was a correct option on all models except wagons Incidentally, I had left comments pertaining to the Tor-Red Sport Suburban wagon you featured in a different UA-cam segment a while back. Our friend OsbornTramain posted a very cool original “Plymouth Makes It” (1970 Plymouth ad slogan) TV commercial here on UA-cam (see link below). the “fuselage styled” vehicles - especially the wagons really were beautiful - with their curved glass, sheet metal, integrated rear window roof air deflectors and chrome/vinyl tailgate assist handles - just can’t say enough about these great cars ua-cam.com/video/jhKvuly780I/v-deo.html

I remember this car years ago running at Lancaster speedway. Always wondered what happened to it. I think i still have a picture of it somewhere. They did indeed make them with slant sixes. My dad had a 70 B5 blue 2 door Fury I with a 225 slant six and floor mounted 3 speed manual transmission!

Awesome car Dave! I use to race you at Cayuga and St Thomas with your 70 Sport GT 440 , four barrel I believe. I have always loved these cars. My grandpa had a 70 GT ! To bad the dude had no idea about Mopars or your car in particular.
It's the furious beast, almost 50 years old, what a great car, made in era when engine bays were not cluttered with government smog emissions equipment, and high tech computers, electronics, and plastic everywhere. It's an honest big powerful American car, that has style and comfort and what more would you want.

Thanks for sharing another super rare car Lou. My Aunt had one with a 383, in brown. I grew up in C body Mopars, I was born in 63, my dad had 63,67 and 71 New Yorkers. Then a pair of 73 and 74 Chargers. Black and Gold. Needless to say my first car was a Coronet and I've owned C bodies, Dodge trucks and a lot of Mopars. Keep the Mopars coming Lou! Obtw, I'm a GM retiree, so, you know I like those too. lol
Lou Costabile , I just watched one from a year ago from the sunroof show, the Gurney Cougar, another rare one. BTW,. In the background is a black 75 Roadrunner. Someone gave me a base 75 Sport Fury with blown head gaskets. I'm looking at it, and I've got a 68 318 with 230 horse compared to the 75s 110. Well, you know what happened! Lol
I had a 440 Mag RT/SE Challenger. WHEN it was running, it was amazing.... The cam they use in those is SOOO high lift that the springs are like impossible to compress to keep the lifters from floating at high revs. So the lifters would wear out. And eat the cam.

Really cool ride. As for the hide-a-way wipers, while style wise they look great but if you live where it snows you quickly learn what pain they can be.

Lou, I know this car well it was my buddy Charlie's in the late 70's. He bought it from a woman that lived down the street from him. She was our lunch lady in the cafeteria in our highschool and it was her daily driver. He drag raced it often at Lancaster Speedway and probably sold it to the guy that later junked it. Pass it on to Dave if you can. Thanks.

If it's Lou its gotta be blue LOL. Great video Lou, thanks, your stories are always interesting and the trunk treats are always informative, and yes I pause and read them LOL. I really do appreciate the time you spend bringing these great "old" cars back to us. I know many, many others appreciate it as well. BTW I've heard that the lowly 318 small blocks can be "built-up" to something in the 600 hp range. Can you imagine a high winding small-block putting ou that kind power? That's getting into Viper range but with a little less torque. Giddy-up my man Giddy-up.
You know you're looking at a cool car when you can hardly tell the front from the back. Back in the 90's I worked at a car auction. These were pretty rare even back then. Near the time I quit we had close to 6k cars out in the yard. I think we only had 1 or 2 of these come through. Another rare car I remember that came through was a 69 Charger,it was a 318 car copper interior & exterior. We had a Newport blue exterior black interior. A Gremlin X 304

Lovely land yacht, don't see nearly enough of them, especially with a 440 6 bbl. weeeeee! ☆☆☆
Hi my name is 905, All aboard! :-)
Wow a super restoration of the Plymouth fury GT! Love the blue color and the engine sound! He has a awesome GT! I bet that is a quick one too! Very very nice car and thanks to the owner for saving it! Thanks for sharing this with us Lou!
Hi Steve Flad, Always happy to read a "Wow" in the comment :-) You're welcome, Lou
I'd love to see the before and during resto pics.. The result is fabulous!
Nice car (great plate too) - very straight and clean. Super rare and sounds great. Thanks Lou !
HI Jeff King, Glad you enjoy this rare one and all the details :-) You're welcome, Lou

And they were going to crush it?????
@@cynic247 Thank God he saved its absolute gorgeous car I would cut my pinky finger off for it or i at least give it serious thought .
This is one of my favourite cars that you’ve toured. That offset trunk lock, tilt/ rim-blow, quad exhaust are just a few of the details that are just so right.
Hi bdb studio, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) Lou

A truly gorgeous entry from the folks at Mopar. This was undoubtedly the coolest land yacht that Chrysler ever built. I would LOVE one of these... AND a 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 hardtop.
Hi xtc1957, High praise, Lou
Thanks for sharing all these magnificent C bodies! I’ve owned three Newports, a 71, 73 and 77 and enjoyed each one. Those look like Coker replica polyglass tires. I dig the 67 Fury convertible that drove by in the background.
Hi James, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I got to admit this is the first time that I’ve seen this Model What a nice Mopar.👍
Hi Daniel, Happy to share this car with you :-) Glad to read you enjoy this model, Lou
my mom had one of these when i was little.
what a hauler.
still love it to this day
Hi efogg3, Wonderful memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing details on your Mom's car, Lou
My grandpa had a 58 and a 66 sport Fury. I remember the 66 and damn it was KOOL.
Hi Seth Thomas, Thank you for viewing and sharing Grandpa's "KOOL" Fury's :-) Lou
66 Fury was bad a**.
I love all early furys and that 70? Man thats sharp.
Leave it to lou to pick out the awesome mopars
Hi Max, I like the hidden wipers too :-) My pleasure sharing with you. Thanks for your kind words on the videos, it's appreciated, Lou
It was definitely a good idea. Pontiac pioneered it in 1967 and I think pretty much every car has that feature today.
Awesome car. I owned a 1968 Sport Fury III convertible and it was glorious i miss that. This 70 Fury GT is a truly rare and beautiful machine.
Hi Lewis Yoder, Glad to read you enjoy this car and consider it "awesome" :-) Sounds you you enjoyed your 1968 too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou,
You really do show your subscribers some very beautiful cars! Most of these Sport Fury’s were harvested for their engines and left for the crusher making them one of the rarest of The Chrysler’s crop for 1970. This one with all it’s options is a real treat to see. Thx again Lou (The former Bradydog23)

I had a 68 and a 74! From 440 to 400 boat anchor but both were a dream to drive!
Hi That Correll, Sound like wonderful memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I had a 73 Charger SE with a 400 2 Barrel. Far from being a boat anchor, mine ran well. Plenty of power, acceptable gas mileage.
Gotta love Mopar. 440 6pack, bucket seats, auto on the floor with console . What a great car, wish it was in my garage.

A very Big and BEAUTIFUL car. It has such a Sturdy body, unlike the newer car. Hard to find that car in the streets of America nowadays. STUNNING model WOW!
Hi Vern, Happy to read you enjoy this "Big and BEAUTIFUL" car :-) Lou
The 70 model also came with what they called the 90% power steering. Some said it allowed over steering but i never had a problem with it. This is still my dream car today. I regret ever trading mine in for a new car.
Hi Ron, Thank you for sharing your 1st hand knowledge. Happy to read "This is still my dream car today" :-) Lou
Hi Mike YQR, Happy to read this car brings back memories at the Dealerships :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Kenneth White, Glad to read a Winner for you! This car was parked next to the White Fury the day I filmed it :-) Lou
no a.c. on 6 packs, as it interfered with the front carb
Thanks Lou, The 1970 Plymouth Fury GT probably one of my favorite cars of all times.
Hi Stone Tempel Pug, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours :-) You're welcome, Lou
I'm a huge Mopar fan and I had no idea any Sport Fury GT's came from the factory with the 440 Six Barrel. I think I just found my new favorite full size muscle car LoL
Hi Jeremy Thompson, Happy you found your new "full size" and hope you're behind the wheel of one like this soon, Lou
Shawn
Some good memories (other than the hospital visit) :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing Shawn Beck, Lou
Had a '68 Sport Fury, factory 4 speed!, manual steering & brakes! Wish I kept it. Had to be rare.
Nick Dulak The factory 4 speed is very rare. My daily driver is a 68 Sport Fury-manual brakes. Every mile is a pleasure.
Hi Nick Dulak, Happy to read you had a fun car too :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Shut up
What a great find and save on Dave’s part. I love these old Fury models and as many, I didn’t realize the 6-pack setup was available for these cars.
Happy to read you appreciate this find :-)
My first car in 1995 was a army jeep green 71 Fury 3 two door hardtop 318. My elderly great uncle still has a red/white top 68 Sport Fury 383 with white interior.
Hi DFOOSKING, Sounds like great memories in your and your Great Uncle's cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

The grilles/headlamp doors on these cars had a black background with horizontal argent silver painted lines (I believe the GT and S/23 models had fully blacked out grilles but I need some verification of this detail). the sales brochure pictures appear to bear this out - by the way the chrome styled road wheel was a correct option on all models except wagons
Incidentally, I had left comments pertaining to the Tor-Red Sport Suburban wagon you featured in a different UA-cam segment a while back. Our friend OsbornTramain posted a very cool original “Plymouth Makes It” (1970 Plymouth ad slogan) TV commercial here on UA-cam (see link below). the “fuselage styled” vehicles - especially the wagons really were beautiful - with their curved glass, sheet metal, integrated rear window roof air deflectors and chrome/vinyl tailgate assist handles - just can’t say enough about these great cars

Awesome car Dave! I use to race you at Cayuga and St Thomas with your 70 Sport GT 440 , four barrel I believe. I have always loved these cars. My grandpa had a 70 GT ! To bad the dude had no idea about Mopars or your car in particular.
Hi Tom & Sharon Cox, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Sounds like some fun memories, Lou
It's the furious beast, almost 50 years old, what a great car, made in era when engine bays were not cluttered with government smog emissions equipment, and high tech computers, electronics, and plastic everywhere. It's an honest big powerful American car, that has style and comfort and what more would you want.
Well said Marten Trudeau :-)
Gorgeous...Aren't the rims from a later 70's Fury? Dont recall seeing them as an option in 70

Hi Rich, "If it's Lou its gotta be blue" I like that :-) And a 318 with 600 HP, that's IMPRESSIVE! Lou
