Man even back in the early 70’s when there were cool cars all over the place, this would have still stood out with that dark blue/purple paint and all the white trim…jaw dropper. I had that rapid transit ad tacked to my wall back when these were new. Even then I thought the GT was cool. Bucket list car for me.
Yeah local dealer stored fury's at lot next to bus stop in 71. Going to high school lot had hundred of fury's all styles colors dropped off waiting to be delivered to Avis..impressive sight

Great vid Tom. I particularly enjoyed this one. the examples of the car options being shown with the catalog coding. Your knowledge is impressive. It was like getting a private tour thanks!
Took my driver's test in a big ol' Fury...think it was a '71 or '72, can't remember, was my Father's car. Was a 4-door, same color green as that 2-door on the lift in the video, with a 383. I do remember that sitting in the driver's seat, I could not reach the passenger door, lol. My large family drove that beast into the ground because you could easily fit 4 in the back and 3 in the front. I went off to the service and once when I came home, the Fury was gone. My brother told me they drove it to the junkyard, but it wouldn't go over 30mph on the way. Fond memories.
These remind me of a 70 2 dr ht that I had. Bright red with white vinyl interior. Perfect running 318 3 spd on the column. Sharp, but all rotted out underneath. The mood indigo reminds me of deep amethyst, a dakota / durango color.
I remember this car! It was in the early '80s after I left the Navy. I first saw it in a used car lot on the east side of Lake City Way in Seattle. I had just recently fallen in love with Mopars after seeing a '71 Charger and a beautiful '72 yellow Challenger in a car lot about a block away from where the Fury sat. I was already noticing a certain menacing look to Mopars and I instantly recognized them. I even noticed that a '64 Chrysler was part of that family. Anyway, I was looking for a Mopar to buy and saw this monster in the back of their lot. I loved everything about it. Purple, crazy stripes, white vinyl top and interior. I seem to remember that 440 was written on the hood, since otherwise I'm not sure how I would have known. Price? $850.00!!!!! Back then it was in much better condition, with a beautiful interior and a nice vinyl roof, but it was by no means perfect. I should have bought it, but when the guy at the lot said it was rare and only 375 were made that year -- yes, they knew that in '83 -- I'll confess that I was a little intimidated. I thought it was maybe too nice a car for me. I was also intimidated by its size, so I ended up buying a '71 Plymouth Scamp, 318 2-barrel, which turned out to be a great stoplight racer against the weak opposition of the '80s, except for the 350 Novas that were thick on the ground. Years later I saw the beautiful purple GT again on the roof of a building on the southeast corner of 130th and Aurora. I actually saw it from below while driving, then went to look at it. It looked a bit rougher than before, but still magnificent. In what might be a false memory, some guy came along and said he was working on it. One way or another I had a look under the hood and saw that the engine was partly disassembled. Maybe that was when the dual-quads ended up on it, because IIRC, it was a stock 440 4-barrel when I first laid eyes on it. Please do a video when this one-of-a-klnd Mopar is finished. I'd be so psyched for that!!!! Good luck, Selena! :) And keep us up to date on your Sport Fury GT as well. I really adore these cars although I probably will never own one, after letting the purple monster slip out of my fingers . . .
This car deserves a rotisserie restoration it's so unique ......love the color!! I hope you post it while it's getting restored . Selena ....knows her cars !! who doesn't love a car girl
I had a 70 two door with a vinyl top. I don't remember specific package it was. It had a 383 with a two barrel "believe it or not" factory. Smooth running comfortable car and got great mileage for a large car when I kept my foot out of it. Fury's of that era had great heaters! We lived close to Lake Michigan and winters were frigid.
Selena and her late husband had an incredible eye for cars! Boy, she has some nice stuff! My mother had a 69 Sport Fury in the mid seventies that was a nice driving car. She gave it to my older brother who totaled it a few months later...
Thank you Tom for sharing my car, Brad would have enjoyed reading all the comments . As mentioned I'm trying to find someone that would be willing to come to my shop to do some body work. Someone that can weld in the patch panels and do a good job. I don't want to send it off to a shop where it's going to sit in the back for 10 to 20 years. If anyone in the greater Seattle area is really good at patch panels, hit me up . I have two or three welders and a plasma cutter, some torches. And a paint booth.
There was a 71 Sport Fury GT in really good condition at the Belvidere IL Mopar show last year that was one of my favorite cars there that year. It was sort of a gunmetal gray color but had a hint of green, so not the GA4 color found on 71 E bodies. Magnum restored a 70 GT a while back, probably one of the tougher builds they’ve tackled due to hard it is to find parts for them!
CSFA is California State Firefighter's Association. Super-cool car, Tom. My Grandmother and Grandfather (who adopted me at age 3) had a 1971 Chrysler Newport 2-door hardtop. I remember that car to this day! She was a lovely medium blue, and had a 440 4V with a column shifted 727 TF and a beautiful blue cloth interior. For a big car, that thing hauled ass! Man, I wish I had that car today! I did manage to get my Grandparent's 79 New Yorker Fifth Avenue Edition. She's with me now here in SoCal, shipped from PA back in 2014 when I acquired her in their will. Good stuff, man! Stay cool, and stay safe!
Mechanic at work had a 71 Fury in the late 80's. Wasn't a GT. It was a good looking car that really ran. His daily driver. I don't recall ever seeing a GT before. Especially that light package. A treat to see.
I was a Fury-ous owner for about 5 years. Had a 72 Fury iii 4 door hardtop . . . a 72 Fury, and a 1977 Fury. I have a triple green 1977 New Yorker Brougham Sunroof car I drive regularly. Saw a 70 Fury GT 6pack in New Hamburg ON Mopar show in 85. . . owner wanted 10K for it then. Too much money for a 21 year old. . . Great video!!!!
There is a triple Green New Yorker brougham I see driven daily on Central Avenue in Columbia Heights MN. Not sure if it is a sunroof car, but will look next time I drive by and see it. 😊
Nice, that Ford truck is a camper special. Those have the spare tire behind a hatch in the right side of the bed so it's accessable when you put a slide in camper on the truck.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Very cool ! Steve Mag of Junkyard Crawl, he was on Motor Trend. Early this morning he show case same vehicle , so very cool that you have one that has survived. Your video is very informative, & interesting. 🍩☕️👀😎👍
Thx for the awesome video Tom! I’m a huge fan of the 70 Sport GT . My grandad had one. And I learned something new.. the fact the 440 was a T code in 70! I always thought they were 375 hp.. love your 68 Sport Fury 440- 4 gear!
There was a dude in your neck of the woods that was collecting the 6-pack Sport Fury GT's for a while. I think he had 3 or 4 of them and a couple S/23's as well. Along the lines of "strippy" cars, a friend of mine used to own a '68 Charger R/T. Charger Red, black top, black guts. 440 4 speed. It was a drum brake, stripe delete, steel wheel car! No Power Steering, 2-speed wipers, NO Tach, NO console, No buddy seat.... the only "extra cost" option it had was an AM/8-track. It was an ordered car out of Cranbrook, BC.
I haven't seen the Fury in nearly forty years; Brad and my sister were together for about five years in the mid-late 80s. You'll notice how wide the rear rims are; Brad had them widened. The LTD convert was in the yard in Mountlake Terrace, too. It's sad to see the Fury in that state of decay, but I'm glad to see it still around. They took a trip to Montana one time in the LTD to see the sights, get her out on the long stretches of road, and "let her breathe." This is the first that I have heard of Brad's passing, and I am saddened to hear of it; Brad and I got along really well; he was just a month older than I. Brad had a funny nickname, I wish I could share it, but this isn't the proper time.
@@rocketresto That Fury was traded by my friend for a Mustang project, the Fury moved to Ridgefield, Wa area early '80's. New owner also had a orange '66 Impala.
The wheels on the SFGT may be an option. I had a '71 - it was 3 years old and had been a company car for 3M (who made the stripe kits) and it was not modified. The wheels were much like these only without the rectangular cutouts. Not at all like the ones you've got but I have seen other '71 GT's with the ones you show, mine had the narrower trim rings. I was able to buy a 2nd set some years ago.
@@rocketresto Totally agree. My uncle had a '70 medium metallic green (F8?) with a green vinyl roof and interior. What a nice car it was, and wickedly fast.
Great car Tom, thanks for the tour and the knowledge! Such a nice example, hopefully she keeps the dual quads and headers. Will she be putting a vinyl top back on? Hope to see more of this rare C body.
Paisley mod top Sport Fury was on my route when I drove a truck in town. Sat dormant in an apartment building lot owned by the car owner. I met the grandson. He thinks it got hauled to scrap
Tom, I had a 1970 Sport Fury GT. My '71 had factory Exhaust Tips similar to a Challenger. In hindsight, it was a VERY cool car.... Mine had the 'Gator Grain' Vinyl Top. .
Great vid!! Absolutely agree that was/is a stunning car. Not that you don't have enough on your plate, however the Triumph 250 obviously has deep personal meaning to her - maybe youu could help find a way to get that one inside if/when others sell. Sell all the Lancias, help fund the resto on the Fury GT. Share with us when other items might be for sale/auction. Thanks!
White lancia is for sale as well as the 58 sedan delivery. The Fury needs moved over to the spot the delivery is in so it can get worked on without messing up the shop with dust and stuff.
Of note the 68 Imperial 440 Dual option was the same treatment as the 70 SFGT (Std 440 dual snorkels and exhaust with 360 HP). You probably already know this, but 68 was the only year that the Imperial got a "muscle" option from the Std 440. Love the C body content.
My husband deserved a better life too. Instead he got terminal cancer. Life is apparently to short and he could only restore si many cars before he left this world. The Fury was next on his list. So I will do my best to carry on where he left off. Tom mentioned that in the video. Anyone you know do body work? Trying to hire someone to do the patch panels. Let me know.
Fantastic video! I'm new to your channel, and just subscribed. Thanks for your love of MOPARS. I'm not anywhere near as knowledgeable as you, but I too am a MOPAR or NO CAR guy. There's NOTHING better!
I had those finned FACE drum brakes (11 inch of course) on both a 68 300 and a 69 Newport. The face of the drum makes it impossible to mount most wheels, aftermarket or factory. The only exceptions are 1. The wheels that came from the factory. 2. C body Road wheels (little slot type) 3. B Body Rally wheels (hole type) with either a small spacer ( not recommended) or milling down the tips of the fins. The tape player usually came with the AM/FM Stereo but, as you showed, could be ordered with the AM ( I have never seen an AM with the pig tail). Sometimes people think their pigtail type stereo radios are broken, but the cap for the pig tail, which is needed to operate if the tape player/recorder is missing, is missing from the end. There are two jumpers on the cap. You cna rig something up with a female Din connector. I have a 71 Sport Fury but it is a 4 door ht and a 360. But 71 is a good year for 360s. I want to try ot get an aftermarket Challenger tip for it. It needs a trunk. The problem with the Sport Fury GT is that they were nearly almost all bought up north, then driven as dailies year round. They went to the junkyard in the 70's and 80s with no notice . The few that are left are totally rusted.
I am from coastal Maine so I see my share of rust and rot. Living on the coast we use salt on our roads in the winter but you also have the salt in the air from the ocean...It's a death sentence for sheet metal and frames...I have seen some rust buckets in Washington but I have also seen some really nice old cars come from that area..it seems to be a mixed bag
What gets cars around here is usually pine needles from the evergreen trees. They get inside the window trim and are a little acidic so they rust out the window channels. Once they go them it’s floors gone, bottoms of the fenders, trunk pan etc. They rust top down here. Saying that we really have a pretty good environment for old cars, we never salted roads here. Unless a car comes from the coast they are usually pretty nice.
The '71 hideaway headlights grille was better because the '70 had horizontal lines all across it and the ones on the headlight covers never really lined up with the center part of the grille. I like that yours has buckets and power windows but IMO they should all have come with a console and floor shift. Mine was a cloth bench and column shifter.
from the web: The Lancia Scorpion is a two-door, two-seat, mid-engine, rear-drive sports car that was originally conceived in the early 1970s as a slightly larger, upscale version of the 1974 Fiat X1/9. In fact, the Scorpion prototype was codenamed X1/20 under Fiat development, and much of the X1/9's MacPherson strut suspension design was shared with the X1/20. ************************ I think this was the rare Lancia with rear wheel drive, they were famously front wheel drive cars for a long time.
What about a 1968 Fury VIP ? My high school friends dad had a purple colored 68 VIP was a real sport of a Fury. Would love to hear some info on that model.
16:51 LOL. That's STILL funny. Back when these cars were new they weren't at all considered anything but a very inexpensive Luxury option to the big GM cars Like Buick's and Cadillac or the big Mercury's and Lincolns etc. They were never considered a "Handling" car. So when they printed "Heavy duty suspension for better handling and performance. It was silly. But they all advertised like that and still do so hey. One thing that wasn't at all a joke about them though was that huge 440 Big block! No sir! Everyone knew big power came with CI's.
The torsion bar Mopars had significant handling advantages over coil spring cars, not that they were canyon carvers but they wouldn’t porpoise like the GM cars would.
The owner is the star of this video only 2nd to her GT. I see no one else dressed up with GC8 nail polish, she brings it!
Ya noticed the nail polish matched - was wondering if anybody was going to catch that :)

Love the color, love how rare it is too, you do not see it often.
I love all the Mopar body styles, but as a C body owner, I really appreciate the videos and you sharing your knowledge and history with us. Thanks.
Now that's a true car lover...part with something you were going to keep but thought this car deserved it more. That's cool. So is the car. Thanks Tom

I like the look of the '70 Sport Fury (GT)👍
They are a really great design. The hide a ways make all the difference. The non hide a way 70's don't look as good. The bulge hood looks great too.
@@rocketresto
Totally agree. My uncle had a '70 medium metallic green (F8?) with a green vinyl roof and interior. What a nice car it was, and wickedly fast.
Oh man! That is one of my favorite cars!
those front fender top ports with turn signal lamp... evoked a F'n no way! out of me :)
Super cool huh!
Marvin Hughes in Florida had one just like it. He was a big time hemi collector in the 80s.
Marvin was a pretty legendary collector and had some serious cars. He had a vintage NASCAR chassis l, Van Diver car, that was an awesome survivor.
I remember my cousin dad buying a 71 sport fury gt super commando it was Columbian gold
Great car Tom, thanks for the tour and the knowledge! Such a nice example, hopefully she keeps the dual quads and headers. Will she be putting a vinyl top back on? Hope to see more of this rare C body.
Believe she is going to keep all the speed parts, I would as it gives it some personality! Yes putting the vinyl top back on.
Paisley mod top Sport Fury was on my route when I drove a truck in town. Sat dormant in an apartment building lot owned by the car owner. I met the grandson. He thinks it got hauled to scrap
That’s a bummer. Probably a Gran Coupe.
There is one here in Australia 🇦🇺
A 1970 here in Melbourne
The restoration is on UA-cam
Do a walk around of the 68 Sport Fury 4spd
As soon as it’s out next will do that.
Tom, I had a 1970 Sport Fury GT. My '71 had factory Exhaust Tips similar to a Challenger. In hindsight, it was a VERY cool car.... Mine had the 'Gator Grain' Vinyl Top.
.
Nice
You have more Lancias in this vid than I have ever seen in person
They all rusted away. Going to try to see if I can rehome those parts one to a lemons team or something.
@@rocketresto Lancias were successful rally cars, the Beta coupes I think.
@@scottsullivan1464well kinda. The 037 was the successful car (last RWD car to win in rallye) which was based on the Beta but hugely modified.
Thanks!
Plate is definitely full.
White lancia is for sale as well as the 58 sedan delivery. The Fury needs moved over to the spot the delivery is in so it can get worked on without messing up the shop with dust and stuff.
I recall a V code Sport Fury for sale down there (black?) years ago...thought that was a rare and cool combination!
Yep friend of mine had three v code fury GT’s, two were black. One is still on the property as one of our guys Trev bought it.
Ya they liked the lo-po 440 in the Imps as they ran cooler and less rowdy.
That car deserves a better life. I hope it gets it
My husband deserved a better life too.
The Lancia Monte Carlo/Scorpion is very cool! The rough coupes..? Those are "24 Hours of LeMons" cars- take 2 make 1
Going to definitely reach out to Lemons guys, would rather not see them go to the crusher.
@@rocketresto That Monte Carlo? He put the Euro bumpers, headlights, et cetera on that car. The K20 Honda swap, popular in those & X 1/9's are beasts!
My dad had a 71 fury 4 door gran coupe with the 383
My neighbor had a sport fury. White exterior red interior
Fantastic video! I'm new to your channel, and just subscribed. Thanks for your love of MOPARS. I'm not anywhere near as knowledgeable as you, but I too am a MOPAR or NO CAR guy. There's NOTHING better!
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome car, Dave Ray has his own shop in Oregon, DB Restorations.
Yes know Dave.
Hi , are the time delay cans available new ? It seems like the interior lighting doesn’t work properly with out it ?
hi good ep tom
Thanks!
I saw a video last year of a guy crushing sport fury. Couldn't believe that he didn't try to sell it.
Dumb
I love it!
Such a neat car.
1970 Hurst 300 is top (Sea)Body
Also, funny story. I have the 440 engine out of one of these cars that a kid flipped over back in the 80s.
Such a cool car and story
Thanks for watching!
Think 71 was AM only, at least it was on A and B-Bodies, was Fury too, not sure about Chrysler. Know by 73 you could get AM/FM cassette.
@@rocketresto Trivia: 73 introduced for B bodies an AM/FM mono radio that looks at first glance like the stereo radio. It cost quite a bit less.
How did this car not get snatched by Mark Worman? 😅. Glad u got to it.
Didn’t get it, lady is going to restore it and that’s awesome.
@@rocketresto Yep, glad you got to check it out and share the car with us.
Super cool car 😎
My bud had a c body..it had a 440(?) and a certified speedo that went to 170 mph…it did go that fast..
The 69 Dodge Polara police package was clocked at 149 MPH, as far as I know that was the fastest certified top speed of a muscle car era police car.
So the dual quads were installed after the fact. I love them.
Yep along with the headers, and rear sway bar.
@@rocketresto A little head work, dual quads and headers might wake up my Monaco a little :-)
Do you remember the comedian George Carlin and his skit about people and threre stuff? You definitely have a lot of stuff.
I had a 69 Fury III that had the fully ribbed front drums, made it a real pain to put aftermarket wheels on that car.
Ya they don’t clear a lot.
Saw a black 70 or a 71 sport fury or fury 2 door sitting in a yard in orting. 2 door looks complete from the road .
Think somebody told me about that one.
Did the owner also have a few v code fury as well.i remember a guy from Washington came to GA to buy a black v code fury gt but he never restored it
That was Dan Corely, different guy but yes from the same area.
Very cool
If this car is for sale down the road??? I'll be bidding or calling. Would love the opportunity to own 1. As always great content!!!
Don't think this one is ever going to be for sale, she wants to restore and drive the heck out of it!
Personally think the 70 is cleaner but know what you mean.
My 72 only had a am radio. No AC. No carpet just the back padding. Green exterior, green interior.
Low option
The Tr250 is very rare, only a little over 1,800 shipped to the US.
Very eclectic collection of cars.
Steve McGarret approves 🤙🏻🇺🇸
Even though he was a Mercury fan but the C Body would’ve had him looking 🤙🏻
AHH man its GREAT!!!
from the web: The Lancia Scorpion is a two-door, two-seat, mid-engine, rear-drive sports car that was originally conceived in the early 1970s as a slightly larger, upscale version of the 1974 Fiat X1/9. In fact, the Scorpion prototype was codenamed X1/20 under Fiat development, and much of the X1/9's MacPherson strut suspension design was shared with the X1/20.

I think this was the rare Lancia with rear wheel drive, they were famously front wheel drive cars for a long time.
Good looking car, think they were criminally underbraked. That one was called for, the FWD Beta was for sale.
Good afternoon,,,,,,, Yeee Yeee
Yay yay!
Cool video, loved all the details. Btw, Lancia is pronounced LAN- cha.
Prefer Lan-she-ah :)
What about a 1968 Fury VIP ? My high school friends dad had a purple colored 68 VIP was a real sport of a Fury. Would love to hear some info on that model.
Would love to do a video on a vip just need to find a good example.
@@rocketresto Was also wondering how rare a beast are the 1968 VIP's
Is that a Duster in the background? I had a 72 318. Family bought it new in 72. Took it off the road in the early 80s to restore it.
Don’t think any dusters in the video?
