FAQ:
1. Should I add a preservative to my Vegan Lipstick?
Answer: Yes and No, it depends and you can, should.
Reason: Since lipstick is an anhydrous product, the likeliness of microbes growing is low or will take much longer. However, lipstick can be easily exposed to moisture from the mouth. Once moisture is introduced to the product, it is contaminated and will grow bacteria, mold, etc. If you can avoid moisture getting into the product, then you are safe and do not need a preservative. The lipstick can last as long as the shelf life of your ingredients. When it comes to oils, butters, and waxes the shelf life is "usually" 12 months or more.

Question, hypothetically speaking if You didn’t want to use mica or any of the coloring you mentioned, can you use hand/home made food color to color your products? Or will food coloring will destabilize and/or mess up your products?
Thank you! I am glad you like it. I have never used food coloring before, but I am assuming that it will cause some issues because it is water-based. You will also need a preservative. However, for lipsticks, I would just add one anyway.

You can use beet juice, but keep in mind that it is a natural water-based foodproduct and can mold. You then have to put an antifungal in it.
