It’s better to grapple above the enemies instead of directly to them with 2 charges to make a permanent grapple point to continuously be able to grapple to that point and do infinite grapple melees.
you can do that as well but I have found for me personally its not always as optimal or as fast especially in the heat of the moment or in smaller spaces.
Something I'd like to add; Since the grenade melee counts as both grenade and melee as you've stated in your video, I found that the mods 'Firepower' and 'Heavy Handed' work wonders in keeping a loop going. You generate the orbs, and not only does your super appreciate it, but your grenade and melee do as well. And it generates Woven mail, Innervation/Invigoration, etc. What I'm trying to say is, the melee is outstanding and has potential.
If you use the artifact mods that effect the tangles (they explode and deal more damage, and if they dont die they get knocked up) when you shoot them with a strand wep it is very very useful as well. if its your own tangle its basically one shot for all that burst damage and CC at the same time. Once you get used to knowing where the tangle is gonna spawn and how to control the mob you want to melee in a pack this build is very fun.
Just tried this build out and its awesome. I already use Assassin's Cowl too, so making the build was no problem. I will definitely be using this as my main.
I’ve been using this exotic helm and grapple combo since strand dropped, super reliable and fun to make the grapple a gateway to healing and invis (and all the orb related buffs like unraveling rounds).
Same. I was using it with arc hunter build for legend campaign but left it on during the strand moment's that's when I realized "there's something here."
Same I ran campaign on stasis AC which is already crazy and you already know about arc AC. Matter of fact it’s good on every subclass besides void lol but yeah on strand it’s very good and you can get your super back extremely if you build this correctly.
One thing I like doing is using the spike melee to kill a weak target and make a tangle near others then just grappling to it for free, I hope we get a fragment or something to replace tangles with anchors though because in group content I always seem to get teammates that just throw mine at enemies.
The fact you can shoot the tangle and proc it is KINDA NUTTY 😂🔥 props to finding all the is out because I love running the assassins cowl Solar hunter 💪
I used this build to solo the legend campaign on day1. Everytime it made me use strand and i had no choice between my void build i swapped over to assassins cowl. But i didnt have any aspects/ and control over a strand build. Since the campaign just gave me strand every other mission. I just used it for the healing and invis because it kept me alive.
It is. It's absolutely nuts on arc hunter with combination blow and one-two punch. That setup has carried me through most hard solo content and I lowkey kinda hope it stays underrated so it doesn't get nerfed.
You rarely produce Orbs of Power. I strongly recommend swapping your impact induction or one of your Grenade Kickstarts for Heavy Handed or Firepower (either works for your combo) to make the most out of your armor charge mods. Nice build though
Was surprised how effective this build is, although I did switch out thread of ascent for thread of warding for woven mail like you mentioned we could. Otherwise great build!
Right when it launched? no, not at all. I was using this the first week. Little to no one was talking about it. I know because I even searched youtube before making this to see if anyone was covering it. There were maybe 2 or 3 people talking about it, that's not common. Plus, their builds were rather weak and not fleshed out. People are only now catching on.
I saw a similar build that used the slam suspend and the “bolo” grenades. It was fun, but very squishy. I’ll have to give this build a go. Honestly I love assassin’s cowl. Last season with my melee arc build it was S tier.
The only build I'll use with Hunter Strand is longer status effects (suspended, unraveled etc increased duration), dealing damage recharges grenade, killing suspended targets grants class ability, and damaging with tangle recharges melee
None, actually. I consider it more of an evergreen build to make it more viable long-term, not subject to being affective with artifact mods, and they sunset.
I love the assassin cowl but I'm going to try and switch it up and use the bombardiers pants to give it a little bit more damage with explosion lol 😂 it's so hard to choose gear because tbh almost all the gear goes great with strand and absolutely is insane
can you make "The best stats for titan video" but for strand ability cause i know resilience is key for titan but idk how what else i need to make a titan a tank and im using strand
Typically for Titans Resilience, Recovery and Discipline are best to spec into Recovery being how quickly your health regens after taking damage. Important for tougher content. Discipline is grenade regen useful for builds as there are many where you can get it back often. I would stay away from mobility it's useless for titans and strength and intellect are not very useful either tbh. If you can try to go for Triple 100s on those 3 stats I mentioned above.
@@AceInTheSpade THANK YOU! but umm.... what do i need to get those to 100 because again idk wth im doing im barely understanding the lingo and theres so many videos on weapons and armor that i dont even have...yet. im desperate
@@Toshiro_A1 Sorry I know when I first joined in 2017 I was the same way. Luckily there are a TON of great resources on youtube and friendly discords very helpful community. Love the build, only issue I find with Unraveling rounds lasts far too short (far too short). over the Artifact Mod we have. it needs to be 30-40 sec at most. If not give Unraveling rounds permanently until you stow the weapon
Thanks! To he honest with this build I found unraveling rounds to be up all the time because I'm constantly getting it and refreshing it with every grapple melee kill.
Make sure you have charged and un-charged melee mapped to different buttons. I had them set to the same button and had the same problem. You want to do a un-charged melee off a grapple.
They def need to fix it to work like all other hunyer melees and only have the charged melee proc when you're far away from enemies. I don't like remapping buttons, so what I've been doing is starting all engagements by throwing it 1st, which severs enemies anyway so works out, and just making sure it's always expended while I'm fighting and grappling. Def remapping buttons is the best way to go if you dont mind that, but I've just been making sure the charged melee is never up lol, and its working pretty good
I think the issue I had with this build was the melee failing to return to you after you go invis. I don't know if that's intended or if it's an unfortunate side effect.
Did you not watch the video? The first 15 seconds is me doing a solo master duality 32 below recommended power using this build. It's viable in pinnacle content. If anything, this builds makes strand have survivability.
@Spade ♤ I've been focusing it more melee based rather than grenade with weapons making up the difference. Also doubled my orb output to make up for the lack of grenade mods.
DIM LINK Is in The Description! Enjoy Guardians ;)
One note about the DIM link: it's got an extra copy of heavy ammo finder in the helmet instead of the strand siphon you meant to have there.
It’s better to grapple above the enemies instead of directly to them with 2 charges to make a permanent grapple point to continuously be able to grapple to that point and do infinite grapple melees.

Doesn't the grapple auto-lock-on to enemies though?
@@LillianOfTheVoid it does unfortunately, which is a real shame when I have a tangle I'm trying to use to reset my grapple
Glad you said insanely effective instead of broken like the rest of the content creators. Good/fun does no = broken great vid
Lol, thanks. Yeah, it's sometimes hard to know what to title a video. I'll remember that for future videos though thanks for the feedback.
Update on this build because of a twab
Tangle damage no longer counts as melee damage, so just keep that in mind when using this build
Yeah it's pretty much useless rn
Finally! A hunter strand built with fun gameplay AND survivability.
Yep it even works great in legend lost sectors.
@@AceInTheSpade bro I went back to ac cowl I see why it's so good
@justinmaddox4782 yeah its legit underrated it works well on basically every subclass.

Yeah it's a blast, I can't take it off. Iol.
Literally been playing this build for the past two-3 weeks even with the same auto rifle. It’s the only pve build I’ve saved this season.
Same.
I’ve been using this exotic helm and grapple combo since strand dropped, super reliable and fun to make the grapple a gateway to healing and invis (and all the orb related buffs like unraveling rounds).

Yeah, that's kind of how I use threaded spike as well. Yeah, my biggest gripe is lack of exotics that even work with strand.
The fact you can shoot the tangle and proc it is KINDA NUTTY 😂🔥 props to finding all the is out because I love running the assassins cowl Solar hunter 💪
Agreed! AC is definitely one of My favorite hunter exotics.
Awesome build. Used this week 1 not knowing it’s potential until the second week and started tinkering with mods
Yeah, it was decent on launch, but with all the fragments and now getting more into the new build system, it's actually cracked.
Dope build. I like how you broke down the aspects of how it all works.
Glad you found it helpful!
I used this build to solo the legend campaign on day1. Everytime it made me use strand and i had no choice between my void build i swapped over to assassins cowl.

@@bromo8874 yeah i used that in the LF campaign.
It really is 😢 I also love using the bombardiers
Overrated.
I just played around with this yesterday. I used monte carlo to get my melee back it was fun

Thanks for the build

Yeah, after posting this, someone pointed out heavy-handed giving 2 orbs, so I switched 1 of them out for that so im running heavy hand and Kickstart.
@@AceInTheSpade now your build is double the sexy

this is the most common hunter build I've seen since LF launched

Agreed thats all I used last season and in the LF campaign which ultimately led me to this build.
Welcome to the build channel community lmao❤️
No joke!
I would personally swap the kickstarts for vigor and focus or another impact.
That could work wellll too.
Try a 1-2 punch shotgun shot while grappling then melee attack😎
Good Idea! 👍
The only build I'll use with Hunter Strand is longer status effects (suspended, unraveled etc increased duration), dealing damage recharges grenade, killing suspended targets grants class ability, and damaging with tangle recharges melee
Yep, this build does a lot of that as well. As I've shown, it's also viable in master difficulty content.
Pretty short sighted, lol.
Been using a similar build but with rat king for on demand invis
Nice! That sounds fun!
I bet this buld is insane with final warning side arm yeah this build is gonna be my go to bet it dose hell of damage
Yeah it synergies well with that sidearm.
i am wondering what artifact perks u are using for this build
None, actually. I consider it more of an evergreen build to make it more viable long-term, not subject to being affective with artifact mods, and they sunset.
Watched 30% of the video. Have just 1 question: what game is it about?
Destiny
I love the assassin cowl but I'm going to try and switch it up and use the bombardiers pants to give it a little bit more damage with explosion lol 😂 it's so hard to choose gear because tbh almost all the gear goes great with strand and absolutely is insane
Oh yeah, I absolutely agree. Bombardiers is a fun exotic too.
Was using arc tried this one I like arc better but not a bad build
Yeah, arc is still strong with AC, but tbh felt like I survived better using this in master duality ironically.
I'm not going invisible when I get a kill by shooting a tangle. Any help?
Yeah, bungie patched that awhile back. Apparently, it wasn't supposed to happen like that.

“it spawns one when finishing a minor” 💀
A minor enemy of course is what I mean lol.
Yoooo! So what am I doing wrong? I feel like I’m always throwing my melee rather than doing the hit and it’s super annoying
So you have to perform a grapple towards and enemy and then right as your about to get to the enemy melee them. It takes some practice.

Yeah, threaded spike seems a bit buggy, but to be honest, I'd only use as a small addition most my focus is on grapple melee kills and finishers.
Nice 1 cheers 🍻👍
Thanks!
what artifacts did you use?
None. This is what I call an evergreen build. It doesn't rely on artifact mods, which makes it remain viable beyond seasonal mods.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼 cool
