  • It’s the first ever overdrive from Origin Effects - and the first overdrive of its kind, ever! That’s because the RevivalDRIVE houses a complete valve amp-style signal path recreated using all-analogue electronics. It accurately delivers a wide range of British and American amp tones, from clean to fully cranked, with the ability to dial in exactly the drive characteristics and dynamic response you desire.

    The melody to the opening song was so beautiful I had to listen to it a couple of times before I could watch the demo! Well done indeed! Oh yeah, the pedal is great too, but loved the song!

    The pedal is perhaps over designed for the mere reason that it can be adjusted to do just about anything to sound good with any amp or indeed create your optimal tone spectrum on an impossible amp. And if you think any pedal has ever been an "amp-in-a-box" or sounds and feels like a real amp this puppy is just unreal. Expensive to be sure but there is a reason why the best is what it is. I can't say I will ever have a board w pedals that cost anywhere near this much, but this one is a very cool core basis for my rig. And yes YT is what it is and listening on a cell phone is pretty much a bad thing anyway you stack it. All I can say is sounds and does things like you will never hear on this medium. Amazing pedal to be sure.

    Thanks for making this for us. I can say with my whole heart that this is fabulous guitar tone and technique and it's making magically wonderful music.
    Ok, so on one hand you may be critical that there's a mix of direct, unsympathetic, (or 'complimentary' styling), but distinct riff lifts, rather than nods to those unmistakable guitarists, and quite a few to boot.
    However, I think this is so sensitivity and expertly done that it's worthy of praise. Name one guitarist that doesn't copy another?

    A demo recording direct into an audio interface or using it with a FRFR amplified/active speaker cabinet or direct into solid state and tube power amplifier fx returns would be great to see and hear. I personally like the layout of the Empress Effects Multidrive maybe partnered with the Neunaber Iconoclast or DSM Noisemaker Omnicabsim to quickly adjust your tone vs having an endless choice of impulse responses.

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  6 років тому +1

      Yes I agree. I will include a direct recording in my next video using an IR. Works great. I don´t have a FRFR active speaker in my studio, but I can show recordings using a Marshall, Vox, direct with IR, direct with speaker sim..many things. Right now I am using the Revival into my JMP Marshall on 2. Revival makes it sound like the amp is on 10 (11 really)

    Thanks for the demo Simon. Hard to appreciate all the sonic nuances of this premium drive pedal with the compression algorithm used by UA-cam whilst listening on a mobile/cell phone’s speaker. Maybe too much going on with this pedal much like using a Chase Bliss pedal. Awesome products aimed at tone tweaking aficionados with deep pockets, players searching for their perfect tone. If it was much cheaper I would put it on my wish list. What did catch my eye is the Carl Martin Playback loop pedal. Is that a new forthcoming product or an old discontinued one?, as I couldn’t find it on the Carl Martin website or via a Google search. I have seen other UA-cam content creators/music gear reviewers/influencers use loopers in demos but not often enough as most seem to try and hilight their playing skills with the product being there for the ride, so top marks for your technique used so the viewer gets a better grasp on the pedals capabilities.

    The only thing Origin left off this pedal was external switching ability so that one can also change channels as well as the Mid-Boost and Dry Mix -Kill all with an external switching system such as "The GigRig 2 , RJM , or other similar devices. This would be the next logical function to add to this pedal . I contacted Origin through their website begging them to add this function ! This would make this pedal prefect. All who would like this function on this pedal please contact Origin , as I did, and beg them to add this one more function to this fine pedal !

      Hettar Strat thanks man. It is awesome 😊 very different in design and functions compared to Cornish. And sound is different too. Quality is right up there. I would say Cornish is different in sound overall - The Revival can re-create the awesome sound of the classic non Master volume amps. And you can dial it in to match any amp. So many special features on the RevivalDRIVE. Cornish is more like adding a boost or germanium drive to your amp.

      Marc Walters Thank you very much Marc. Very different actually. The RD is the most versatile overdrive I have ever tried. And it is the one I use every day. I love the Cornish pedals but they have their own flavor they add to your amp tone. The G2 is that germanium drive and sounds killer - just great and the CC-1 is really transparent overdrive and amazing quality too. To me the RD is more a “fantastisk amp in a box”. I haven´t really used anything else after I got the RD (overdrives that is). Cheers

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  4 роки тому +1

      Nicholas Rhoades Hi Nicholas. Not together like “both on at the same time” but a pedalboard with both pedals on would be nice. Different flavors is always cool. I use amps for most of my tone and I just want something that will enhance what I already have so I use Origin stuff more and more. Cornish I use when I want to add a flavor to my tone and nothing beats the Cornish pedals if that´s what you want. The CC-1 is different though because it is so transparent - it is the Cornish pedal I have used the most and it was my main drive for many years. Cheers

    Amp in an analog pedal like this or amp sim with IR? Wich do you prefer?

    • @SimonGotthelfMusic
      @SimonGotthelfMusic  4 роки тому +1

      Nicolás Gs Two different things so for me it depends on how I want to use it.
      Studio use IRs are awesome and you can change IRs in the mix for different sounds. That’s is cool. However you can also spend a million hours changing IRs and never getting anywhere. Because of the endless options.
      Sometimes it is better to record your guitars and move on. Print guitars to track and stick with the recording. Sometimes it is more “musical”.
      And that is why a device like this can be great in the studio too.
      For live there is no doubt that an analog pedal like this is just awesome.
      This pedal has been roadtested and FOH just love it because it sounds great and is consistant. Same sound every night and no mics moving around. Killer.
      But if I could have my own favorite IR in a box with load for my amp and my favorite Abbey Road Reverb... that will happen someday 😊

      HEGuitarTracks Hey and thank you 😊 I use superior drummer from toontrack and a drumbus plugin called supercharger to make it a little tighter (it was a free plugin when I got it). I sometimes add waves Abbey Road Reverb. Cheers

      Stephen Chow it’s just too much. I even have my limits. It’s more than some small lunchbox amps.

      Urite Sosorri it has way more control than a lunch box amp AND it even sounds better than lunch amps at the same price range direct in

    How’s this vs. the koda? Reaction to playing dynamics in particular. Thanks

      I love the KODA hands down but to be honest nothing beats the Revival Drive IMO. I use it every day. Cheers

    Hi!. Did you use a compressor, or the unit compress the hell out of it?. Sadly, it seemed the pedal sucked guitar's tone, and impossed its own.

    Would this pedal sound good going through a Mesa Triple Rectifier using a PRS Tremonti USA signature? I'm curious about this. I play metal but am looking for a good pedal for leads

      Honestly I don´t know Kevin. I have not tried it through a Mesa amp yet. It is not a "Metal-pedal" but it will probably be great for adding some extra crunch and bite for leads. Cheers
