I love the Origin Compressors. Have tried every version including the bass comp, but they arent my favorite all time. Super high quality and have definitely gigged with them and enjoy them. Like the big box versions better than the little guys. Really want to try their Revival drive.
I really like the SlideRIG too. This one has more control because of the two Att/RL knobs and the golden Thru knob. There is also a new version of the SlideRIG out. Killer pedals. Cheers Simon
Simon Gotthelf Gear Demos The large format version had two controls for each compressor as well. I think too many people complained about the size so Origin had to take out the transformer inside it and shrink it down. I tried both the large format and pedal board friendly versions and I can tell you there is a difference.
Great video! I own a Cali76 and get lot of hum/hiss using with distortion. I have to set the OUT ridiculously low, which means the compressor isn't doing much. I was wondering how you overcame this, as I didn't hear background noise in between pauses - when you used the compressor as a boost in conjunction with distortion
Michael Bennett Hi Michael. I don´t have any noise issues with the Cali. I have the comp before overdrive. Do you run yours the same way? And my overdrives are not noisy either. I use them together almost all the time because I have the Cali always on. Check out my other Cali videos and you can see that my settings are pretty much the same all the time. You can increase noise by turning the sustain up all the way, but that is not how I use it. Only noise I have experienced was using the SlideRIG with both compressors with extreme settings. That will amplify noise if you guitar is not humcancelling. Cheers Simon
@@SimonGotthelfMusic Hey Simon, thank you so much for taking the time in replying to my message. I had the input and ratio too high, however, I think my Rat Deucetone was the main culprit. I do still seem to be getting a bit of unwanted noise, and have decided to take the "out with the old, in with the new" approach. I have a good setup, and shouldn't be experiencing this noise. Granted, it's not always the compressor, but I have taken measures to cover all aspects, and by process of elimination (my pedalboard isn't overkill anyway), for the life of me I can't work it out. Being in the OCD spectrum, it frustrates me greatly. Sorry for the long message, but details help find solutions. Plus I can copy and paste this if I need to use it in the future. Have a good one! Thanks again :-)
Don't forget a good power supply. Ground is ,for me, essential in the power supply cable. Because some noise may come from a not properly grounded electrical connection. At least here in EU we have good power supplies with Schuko type which have ground connection.
If it is transparent you want then the Cornish OC-1 is it. But if you ask what is my personal favorite compressor that I use every day it is the Cali76. Cheers Simon
Torus1Knot1 well... yes... no... maybe... 😉 Sorry, not a very clear answer but I just revisited the stacked edition and really liked it a lot. I still use the Deluxe the most because I am so use to that pedal and I didn’t feel I could get those exact tones with the stacked but now I am not so sure. I did a new video for Origin and Sweetwater Gearfest 2020 about those pedals and it made me think I wanted to use the stacked some more... you can find the video on the Gearfest dealers page under Origin Effects (I did 3 videos that are all there) But if you asked me to have only one right now I would still go for the Compact Deluxe. Cheers Simon
Such fine playing, really excellent.
Thank you very much :) And happy New Year

Hi, what are you fav of all time?
Lovely solo at the intro ! Sweet!
Thanks man :)
I have the large format slide rig...which I believe is pretty much two 76 compressors chained together. Shame they discontinued it.

@@EverettDudgeon138 You are probably right. I have never tried the large transformer versions but I hear only great things about them :)

If you could only get one compressor for transparent, non-squashy, endless sustain... would you pick this one or the OC-1 by Pete Cornish?

Sick tone. Good playing! Thanks for making the demo
Thank man, I appreciate it :)
Yo man ! Your playing is so outstanding ❤

You are amazing, thanks to you I have the same setup ❤️
Which is better to buy Stacked Edition or Duluxe compressor? Can the Stacked Edition do everything that Duluxe does?

Great info! :-)
Takker :)
It just sounds like a good clean guitar....what am I expecting here? Not my music I guess. Thanks
Haha yea that’s the point champ... a good compressor does for your clean signal what an overdrive does to an edge of break up amp.

who needs a second compressor??
Andre P Ha ha well I do :) Not a second but a combination of two comps for endless sustain :) Cheers Simon
