I am completely aware that these games are lazy, uninspired, nonsensical trite shoveled out for merch money; but there's something so fascinatingly Lynchian about them. Hear me out: Most of the gameplay is spent walking down completely featureless, single texture, dully-lit corridors; dead silent except for a low, distant rumble; listening to the echo-y voice of a poorly animated grotesque cartoon character ramble on and on in a disinterested monotone. It's fucking surreal and immersive in a way entirely unintended by the developer.
Its called a liminal space, and they are cool but if you want to walk around in them then roblox or some random steam game about them is probably better
As 'harmless' as these are, they speak to a larger issue in kids horror- youtuber bait. Little irks me more than borderline AI generated, incomplete demos meant to get Markiplier to play it and sell as many childrens toys as possible before they get sidelined by the next new flavor. I wish kids games were made with a bit more than just a profit incentive nowadays.
This isn't even just UA-camr bait, each Episode is labeled and sold as an individual game to cheat the system. It isn't just bait, it is manipulative and deceptive.
Banban and poppy's playtime are the absolute pinnacle of cynical media made with the least effort possible with the explicit purpose of making the most profit off of tiny children whose brains have not developed. It's nothing but upsetting. At least skibidi toilet's creator tries to weave an interesting story using genuinely great animation. It’s kinda funny because what I’ve heard is that the games don’t even sell many copies because most young kids don’t have PCs, and if they do have access to one it’s probably not strong enough to run the game because they’re terribly optimized even for the strongest graphic cards on the market. The people who are able to buy it also made a meme of finishing the games as fast as possible to refund them to the point that the creators are constantly complaining about it. The real problem is that kids will watch their favorite UA-camrs play it, or play clones of it/games that use its characters on their phones or Roblox and that made the game a merchandise powerhouse. I have a cousin who’s definitely never played the game who has plushies of all the characters just because he watched UA-cam videos of it.
It would be one thing if this game was marketed towards children and was actually, you know, good. But this literally plays worse than some of the Egglikes vinny has checked out. It's just pressing buttons, walking, and collecting.
It took Joel 23 minutes to complete GoB 1, a game that can be beaten in 5 minutes. I'm starting to think Joel has more in common with GoB's target audience that he admits

I love our friendly neighborhood psychopath named Joel. He screams some nonesense out the window sometimes, and me hearing that makes me know that everything is as it should be.
I am completely aware that these games are lazy, uninspired, nonsensical trite shoveled out for merch money; but there's something so fascinatingly Lynchian about them. Hear me out: Most of the gameplay is spent walking down completely featureless, single texture, dully-lit corridors; dead silent except for a low, distant rumble; listening to the echo-y voice of a poorly animated grotesque cartoon character ramble on and on in a disinterested monotone. It's fucking surreal and immersive in a way entirely unintended by the developer.
Try playing the original Amnesia
Its called a liminal space, and they are cool but if you want to walk around in them then roblox or some random steam game about them is probably better

As 'harmless' as these are, they speak to a larger issue in kids horror- youtuber bait. Little irks me more than borderline AI generated, incomplete demos meant to get Markiplier to play it and sell as many childrens toys as possible before they get sidelined by the next new flavor. I wish kids games were made with a bit more than just a profit incentive nowadays.

Banban and poppy's playtime are the absolute pinnacle of cynical media made with the least effort possible with the explicit purpose of making the most profit off of tiny children whose brains have not developed. It's nothing but upsetting. At least skibidi toilet's creator tries to weave an interesting story using genuinely great animation. This is utter dogshit, it's the exact same deritus as elsa spiderman pregnant foot surgery
It’s kinda funny because what I’ve heard is that the games don’t even sell many copies because most young kids don’t have PCs, and if they do have access to one it’s probably not strong enough to run the game because they’re terribly optimized even for the strongest graphic cards on the market. The people who are able to buy it also made a meme of finishing the games as fast as possible to refund them to the point that the creators are constantly complaining about it. The real problem is that kids will watch their favorite UA-camrs play it, or play clones of it/games that use its characters on their phones or Roblox and that made the game a merchandise powerhouse. I have a cousin who’s definitely never played the game who has plushies of all the characters just because he watched UA-cam videos of it.
It would be one thing if this game was marketed towards children and was actually, you know, good. But this literally plays worse than some of the Egglikes vinny has checked out. It's just pressing buttons, walking, and collecting.
It took Joel 23 minutes to complete GoB 1, a game that can be beaten in 5 minutes.
I'm starting to think Joel has more in common with GoB's target audience that he admits
