When it comes to Mario 64 rom hacks that feel magical some might think stuff like Render96 or b3313 do, or ones that feel like they could've been the official sequel... but for Joel the so magical one is just adding a shotgun to the game.
I see Mario found DK's original shotgun and decided to go on a rampage.

@@RadikAlice I believe somewere remodeled and others were retextured. Can't recall which was which though.
Remodeled, in the beta it was a double barrel shotgun, in the final it was a coconut cannon.
@@namemcnamerton4249if I remember correctly miyamoto was the one who came up with the rough idea of the coconut cannon moments after seeing DK pull out a shotgun in an early build

I think the best part of this mod is that it isn't just "heehee hoohoo mario with a gun kill everything", but the fact that the shotgun is actually _balanced_ for gameplay and platforming.

As for guns firing underwater, it's not really so much about the gunpowder getting wet; most modern bullets are well-sealed; it's that the gun isn't interacting in an physical environment it's designed to operate in. For example. A Glock will fire underwater, but it's going to have trouble cycling, because the way semi-automatic and automatic firearms work is by using the force of the recoil from the bullet to essentially shove the slide or reciprocating mechanism out and back into place. Water has a lot more resistance than air, so there might be problems getting the gun to cycle. Due to the resistance, there might be more issues ejecting the spent cartridge, so the gun is more prone to jamming as well.
I.E. if the shotgun shells for the double-barreled shotgun are well-made it should not have too much trouble firing underwater as the ejection and replacement of shells are handled by the operator and not the gun itself. I would still foresee lots of problems with gunpowder getting stuck, wet, and fouling the barrel or other parts of the gun up.

Dunno if this was answered in chat or elsewhere, but a modern shotgun can fire underwater *in theory.*
Any ammunition created in atmoshere conditions will fire underwater and even in vacuum of space. Only problem with semi and fully-automatic weapon function under water (not in Space), problem is water stopping Bolt momentum so weapon can't cycle properly. In Space there is no water or Air so Bolt movement won't be obstructed by anything
