If anyone's trying with the Lotus Biscoff for the crust, no need to add sugar or salt! Just melted butter will do. Biscoff is quite dense & flavourful in terms of texture & taste anyway! Great recipe btw ❤️

@@neavesarah1066 are you southern? I'm also from the UK but we say bah-noff-ee as I'm northern. This was my husband's very favorite pie. I made it on special occasions. That's when I learned how to make the caramelized milk from sweetened condensed milk. (Didn't use toffee chips -- which are a great idea!) Thanks for this happy memory.
Have you ever made a Pavlova? If you have I suggest making one using the Banoffee flavor profile. It's SO good!! I didn't use toffee in mine either but my homemade caramel sauce was a great replacement. My meringue came out so stable that I was able to put down 2 layers of each ingredient. It was massive but oh so yummy... 😋
This is one of my fav pies! I prefer to use chocolate cookie crust and cocoa powder for dusting on the top. I also add way more dulce de leche than that, but only on the bottom. Not as many bananas and no toffee chips. And I smooth out my whipped cream on top too. So delicious! Mine slices beautifully.
Hey, John! I made your version of banoffee pie today, and it was an absolute hit. I've had previous banoffee pies at several restaurants, but your version surpasses all of them in both simplicity and flavor. 10/10!
Had my first banoffee pie in Scotland in June and now planning on making it for Christmas next week! Glad to have found John's recipe for both the pie and the toffee!
I have never heard of this and yet I have all of the ingredients to make it!! I’m officially a bona fide baker now! Thanks preppy kitchen for helping me along the way! 🎂
Excuse me but ... omg I’ve been wanting to make this ever since I had it on a trip to Australia a few years ago. It may have been the best thing I had there! Thank you
I found him a couple of months ago and have been baking up a storm ever since. I'm sad that my boys turned their noses up at the mud pie I made. They said it was too "dark chocolatey" 🙄.
This recipe looks soooo simple. I’ve had a rendition at a mid-western restaurant chain and had no idea it was so easy to make! Enjoyed the introduction of the industrial heat gun into the kitchen 😂. Always enjoyable to watch!
I have made banoffee pie a few times from watching your video and following the instructions. Every time it is perfection! Sweet and scrumptious. Thanks for sharing and love your channel!
ban-AWE-fee - a big favourite in Ireland. We slice the bananas over the bottom of the pie crust, with a layer of dulce on top, then a thin layer of very slightly sweetened whipped cream with some grated chocolate. No toffee chips - sweet enough, thank you!
I don't particularly like bananas, but my brother's been wanting a banoffee recipe - I'll pass this along to him! He especially appreciates low-effort recipes, this will be right up his alley 😂
Can you please keep converting everything into gram-measurement. You’re one of the only American UA-camrs who’s always done that and that’s why I’m following your channel in the first place. Would be highly appreciated 🥰
I just made banoffee pie for the first time today. It’s chilling in my fridge right now! I wish I watched this video first before making it though. I watched two other videos on how to make it; and they didn’t put toffee chips in theirs. So I didn’t know that they went in this pie. Oh well, I’m sure it will still be a really good pie. I’m definitely gonna put the toffee chips in next time I make this pie though!
Just made boiled Dulce de Leche from the video link. I only had the pop off top and was very nervous since the can acts as a pressure cooker! Its awesome that an unopened can lasts 3 months and stored in a lidded container lasts 2 weeks! Thanks for the recipe!
I was born in Uruguay and one of the desserts I grew up eating was bananas with dulce de leche...knowing this recipe now...wow amazing and brings me back to my childhood
I don't make this very often, not being a banana fan, but the best all around biscuit is ginger, in the UK you would use one called GIngernut, it's just a simple crunchy ginger biscuit. I suppose you could just add a little ginger to a digestive/ Grahamcracker base ;-).
No wonder that incredible pie was featured in a movie that too, became a classic for Christmas- Love Actually! I had never heard of it and I LOVE dessert. Yours looks exceptional- all the mile high whipped cream! and chocolate shavings- I've found some recipes that use instant coffee- I also love my coffee but not on top of a masterpiece like this- or yours. Any recipe with dulce de leche is awesome. John you deserve your own show. I love everything you make. Did you know in Argentina we have family dulce de leche and “pastry” dulce de leche which is thicker to fill alfajores, pies and pastries so it doesn’t run out. 😋

Ps, thanks because thanks to you I've been able to up a few notches my baking game 😄😄😄
He can make it, he just can’t say it! 😆 I’m glad he explained it’s British because in Britain everyone thinks it’s American. It’s a British American-style dessert with a name that we’d guess Americans would come up with. The original creators were adamant this pie should be made with sweet pastry, but you rarely find it like that, it’s almost always made with a digestive biscuit crust.

Great video. Just a classic pie, very common in England. I just recently posted a video and made it in a slightly different way, we have to make everything from scratch here in Korea, so I used condensed milk:). I only make this pie for special occasions as one slice is never enough!

The can was condensed milk. If you take the label off and put it in a cooking pot with enough water to cover the can(and add more as it evaporates) and boil it for a really long time, you get dulce de leche. He has a video where he shows how to make it.
Another great recipe! I'll just add more bananas for freshness next time, and adjust the biscuit crust measurements - my crust was an inch thick 🤣 still delicious, with Biscoff and Plazma biscuit mixture 🤩

You can try whipping it on low and then SLOWLY increasing the speed. use powdered sugar and if all else failed you can try adding some gelatin.
