I love that you give measurements in grams as well. I very much prefer to cook using weight instead of volume because it is so much more accurate. Also appreciate that you often talk about why ingredients are used, very informative for newbies like myself.

Just made this cake today and my mom and neighbor loved it! My only hiccup was the buttercream was a more reddish-pink color instead of the pretty purple but there was sooo much flavor all throughout the cake 😊 popping the blueberries in the freezer was great and added a fresh pop of flavor while tasting the cake. My first time making a cake from scratch & it was so much fun 💙

Warning: cake strips are not just strips of fabric. If you just put wet strips of fabric around your cake pans, you will be disappointed. Cake strips are pieces of batting, covered with fabric. It's the batting that makes them work because it can retain moisture longer than "pieces of fabric". Good news, you can make your own cake strips with aluminum foil and paper toweling. Fold over the paper toweling until it's about 1/8 inch thick and will wrap around your cake pan. Lay it out onto a piece of foil that is longer than the paper toweling piece. Wet the paper and seal it in the foil. Wrap this around your cake pan and bend the ends of the foil to lock it in place. Better news, cake strips are not expensive and once you try making them you will happily purchase some. They are great and last forever.
Thank you for the technique of coating the blue berries with flour .... I'm using up some boxed lemon cake mixes and I intend to add fruit and lemon zest. Waste not want not is the operating motto in my kitchen.

Some of my favorite recipes in Bouchon Bakery and Tartine have the weight of all of the ingredients in grams. That is one of the reasons why I keep going back to these books for recipes.
