and, since you asked, I'm enjoying the playthrough quite alot, please continue, I'm sure a load of people don't mind the historical inaccuracies. We just wanna see your awesome torpedo attacks. lol
My thoughts exactly. While I greatly appreciate the historical accuracy of the base game and some of the other mods, deviations from that aren't necessarily blasphemous and can often be a breath of fresh air. I say play on!
I’m site this 1 hour video took hours to place and then prep for UA-cam. If I’d do this, my wife would be made. This way I watch you play when I have time and my 30+ happy marriage continues. 😅
Wolfpack is micromanaging his torpedo attacks in the Indian Ocean with great success. Maybe you should try that too, instead of dropping the torps a mile away.
Two things I have seen others do. 1- Identify the ships, it helps with accuracy of shots! 2- manually control the aircraft attacks! Otherwise was fun! You took a totally different approach than most others I have seen and liked it very much!
October 1st 1940 My name is Thomas Alexander, I’m a newly promoted Flight Officer fresh out of Flight School. I’ve been assigned to the Mediterranean with the 261 Squadron at RAF Ta Kali, Malta. Time to get settled in and find something to eat. Who know, maybe even get to know some of the chaps here. 1449hrs: “SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE !!!” These words pierced through the halls of the base before a short message was also delivered. “Enemy bomb groups and escorts were spotted to the North ! Man the AA and all fighter pilots to your planes immediately !!!” I don’t know how I felt in that moment. Scared because an enemy group was attacking ? Excited because I didn’t have to wait long before seeing some action ? Or shocked because I had only been here a couple of hours and was already being ordered to my plane for something other than a test flight, or maybe a combination of the three !? At 1500hrs we were already on station and looking for the bomber or their escort. As fate would have it the Italians were flying above the cloud layer while we were under it so we ended up slipping past the escort and straight to the bomber ! Eight of them right in front of us and they’re all alone because their fighters don’t know how to keep track of their bombers. I was in wingman 3 in first flight under command of Group Captain Taylors, before take off he told me to stay with him and follow his lead. “Yes sir” I replied sharply before climbing into my Spitfire. We were quickly closing in on our targets and half the flight pulled left while me, Taylors, and Daniels made the first run. There were no words spoken during our run but yet Daniels must’ve known what Captain Taylors wanted. In the last fleeting moments Daniels pulled up to draw some of the fire off me and Taylors. Capt’n Taylors fired a quick burst of his .303’s and tore into the lead bomber and I quickly followed suit and released a hail of my own causing the bombers 2 engine to burst into flames sending her to the deck ! I don’t know how time had past, a few seconds ? A few minutes ? I don’t know but it seemed like forever, but we managed to take down all 8 bombers and by now the Italians realized what was happening and we soon got into a scrap with the fighters, sadly we lost one of our mates but we took down all 10 fighters and shortly afterwards we found the remaining bombers that snuck past us. I don’t know how we did it, but my group made a perfect pass and Captain Taylors, Lieutenant Daniels and myself released the last couple hundred rounds left in our guns into 3 of the bombers setting them alight, and I saw something I definitely didn’t expect, the bomber I lit up pitched over and clipped the last bomber, sending her down as well. Shortly later we finally landed back at base where Captain Taylors made his report and crediting me with 3 bombers shot down ! I have a feeling today’s events aren’t done yet so I better rest up while I can. I’ve only been here for a few hours and I’ve already got 3 kills to my name, and I’ve a feeling it’s gonna be a long war. God help us !
For future RP reasons, my characters name is Henry William. His character lore is that he was born in Abergynolwyn, Gwynedd, Wales in 1910. His father was an engine driver on the nearby Talyllyn Railway and his mother was a bakery owner in town, he joined the RAF in 1930 after he turned 20 and is a pilot of flying boats and is currently stationed at RAF Calshot near Southampton. When WWII started he requested to be transferred to the Royal Navy for the Mediterranean Campaign.
WoW, hour long new War on the Sea campaign episode in the Med. Grabbing snacks and drinks for this awesomeness! Noticed BC in your ship listings, would that be for the "mighty" HMS Hood? 😮💙 Love the ship and air details, hope this is a long series! 🤩
Looks good to me. Later inaccurate stuff has probably been included to make it more of a battle, I don't mind that so much personally. Not sure about the aircraft payloads in the game but dropping depth charges from planes would play a big part. I know it's called War on Sea, but if ground forces were included that would be amazing
A good tactic I've found is to arm your recon planes with at least rockets or depth charges. It usually doesn't affect range all too much and if you happen across a submarine you have something to dish out damage on the spot.
Interesting that there's a lot of Proposed warships available to the Royal Navy here. And that a few classes are split into extra sub-classes (County Class split into Kent and London groups) The Wyvern's inclusion is rather amusing. Those weren't around till 1953 but I suppose first flight in 1946 means that we get another Torpedo bomber option.
Great episode 👏... brilliantly editing as always. I just want to see stukas attack the tanker Ohio. One of the most fascinating episodes in naval history 👍. Please keep going
Right off, I would have set up the tier 5 Airbase at Malta! Then diverted supplies to the next closest to raise up airfields there... that's just me.. LOL Great Vid Taff! Good Luck on this New Campaign!
I have been watching you for quite some time. Enjoy your content! In this series, you should practice manual strikes. No one seems to be able to hit the broad side of a barn! Keep up the good work.
Was hopping hoping for this, please give a good college try. The inaccuracies make the game better i think. And the paint job on the Italian ships are magnificent. thanks for the laughs,
Looks fabulous Taff - not bothered about historical accuracy. I think a balanced game play is more important. Poignant for me as my dad fought throughout WWII as a sailor in the Med theatre. Served on HMS Argus flying Hurricanes down to Malta and then later was on HMS Sirius during Operation Pedestal to get the famous Malta Convoy through to Valetta. Then on the Dido class cruiser HMS Diadem. Really strange feeling watching his ship get attacked during your previous War on the Sea campaigns which have been excellent.
The Aircrafts are absolute Gods in this campaign, i have seen quite a few videos of this mod earlier and i can tell you, those B-17s with 14 1000 pounds bomb are just like GOD level firepower, they can sink absolutely anything in 1 strike!! Use them for all the surface vessels you face. THEY ARE TOO OP!!
Taff we need another B-17 mission playthru. I really enjoy watching it. Also after you give the order to attack do not speed up the time. The developers have said that the AI has trouble calculating the attack when you do. Happy hunting.
Overall, it's a fantastic game play Taff. The only thing I was disappointed in was the historical inaccuracies with 1950s wyverns and mk22 spitfires, not to say Hornets aircraft But your commentary was as always spot on .
I think displaying lesser seen or talked about ships is a good thing, and fun in the game setting. If you are worried about historical accuracy then perhaps do a few facts about ships that you sink or hunt on the campaign. For instance the konigsberg class.
I'm just happy to see aircraft modeled with transparent windows, finally. I know this is a mod, but still it would be great to see this in vanilla at some point.
I think this is fine Taff and I am looking forward to following this new series. I can just about manage the Historical inaccuracy so long as that does not unbalance the game play. We shall see 😊 I was hoping you might have done Order of Battle which is another great game and keeps to historical matters quite well 😊 Maybe you might consider that.
Wow, I'd say some of those aircraft manoeuvres were a tad on the ridiculous side, if not completely impossible to execute! Oh my word, where's my stomach gone?🤣
All the Games from the 60s,70s and 80s were pretty much %100 accurate, since all were developed with the help of retired Senior Military Officers who served from WW1,WW2 and Korea.Thousands times more challenging while combating another human 5 feet from you . Once played with a retired Colonel from the Royal Marines back in the 80s when he visited that War Gaming Convention here in Michigan.Later came to my house we took some of my Battlefield Collections to the Rifle Range,Lee Enfield ,Long Branch ( Canadian Lee Enfields are better made than the British ones) Austrian FN FAL and K 98 1939. Also drinks and food were not allowed at Tournaments.
Sooo... two questions, if I may, for anybody who might be kind enough to answer, since I'm not sure if I can endure Taff needlessly complaining his way through another WotS campaign: 1. Is the hour-long cooldown between being able to respot enemy ships/fleets on the campaign map still a thing with this mod? And... 2. If so... has Taff figured it out yet? 🙃
Because of the nature of that mod (not you), the prior WotS was a bit of a slog. It will be a welcome change to have a more light-hearted boom fest. Please continue the campaign!
I wouldn't worry too much about inaccuracies some of these ships were conceived but never built it is kind of interesting to see them in action and think about what if I've been watching broken monkey gamers and Grimm is doing the North Atlantic there was a class of battleships one of the ships was called inconceivable it had 20-inch guns to hear them fire is absolutely amazing

Also, get your own Battleships out, good ones, because the QEs won't survive a single encounter with those Italian BBs.
Obviously this takes place in a universe where A. WW1 ended in a draw B. There is just a *uck-ton more natural resources so that everyone can have these fleets and C. Someone suggested a treaty on capping warships, everyone laughed at that person, and got back to creating as big of navies as they possibly could. D. everyone realized a plane can fly farther that a BB/BC can shoot, and incentivized aircraft carriers......and still had the resources to build BB/BC anyway. There, historically accurate. :)
I don't mind the inaccuracy, as long they are straight about it in the description some light alt hist to match the game mechanics is welcome. Hey Taff, I see you started with 400CP, that happens because the campaign settings default to Very Easy. I was checking this Mod out because I was going to try it and came across this. I'm not sure if the campaign is interesting if played at Very Easy.
Those single-engine torpedo bombers that appeared in this video DO NOT have twin propellers, instead, they have contra-rotating propellers. Each ASW petrol group better has only two or three destroyers (one is pinging while others chasing submarines and dropping depth charges), and forming overly large ASW petrol groups does more disadvantages to you by reducing the coverage of theater. So, In my opinion, you had better break your large ASW patrol groups into three or four small groups. Additionally, dispatch your heavy hitters (battleships and battlecruisers) and aircraft carriers early to gain more theater control.
I'm not so bothered with it not being historically accurate because you're really good at immersion and storytelling.
1940 Wyverns? INCONCEIVABLE! :D
History seems a bit bendy but fun!
The HMS INCONCEIVABLE?

Wolfpack is micromanaging his torpedo attacks in the Indian Ocean with great success. Maybe you should try that too, instead of dropping the torps a mile away.

A new series !!! Chuffed to bits .

The ships with LL- don't say the LL. That just indicates they're US ships sent to serve in other navies under the Lend Lease program.
Maybe thats why they're so cheap too, you pay for them on the last turn 🤣
