I'm happy you're playing this again. I've tried playing it, and it doesn't hit the same as watching someone play. I also enjoy your editing techniques on this series. I'm excited to see more!
@@creatorsfreedom6734I’ve seen a new one come out today actually and reviews look good it’s the “All in one”mod it has every decent mod mixed in and I’m downloading it now but sounds good
Yes the Dutch far east used Martin 139 bombers which was the export B-10 and they also had a small fleet of Do-24 flying boats in the far east also. And the fighters are Curtiss Wright CW-21 export where the majority was given to the Nationalist Chinese before the US entered the war, I think the Dutch got around 24 for their East Indian air force though.
They Pretty much are .50 caliber MGs, 13.2mm type 93 AA guns. Edit: the British Ships also have that, which would also make sense, being that some of them carried .50 caliber Vickers AA machine guns.
I'm so glad to see some more WotS content on UA-cam. I love the intro and the narration, this is going to be one of those series' I'm always waiting for the next episode to drop
Interesting! I have no idea what to expect since this campaign was a Brit/Aussie/Dutch show vs Japan. Fantastic to see the Boeing B-10s that were already obsolete in the mid- 1930's.
Great new series ! King George V = OMG ! This game mod is generally fairly historically correct in planes etc but OBOY that massive AA is pure fantasy, wish it was historically correct.
Taff, I don't think the fighters attacking at the end were Wirraways (don't think the Dutch had any, and a Wirraway looks just about the same as a Harvard/Texan), but more likely they were Curtiss-Wright CW-21s? Love the new campaign!
The Aircraft in the last Attack where definetly Curtis Wright 21 Demons, tell tale sign is the very narrow connection to the tail, and the landing gear pods. Also fits with being operated by the Dutch airforce as they were the only users of the aircraft (apart from some questionable reports from action by the chinese)
Taff, it's great to see you back in WotS again! I've tried the earlier ABDACOM offensive version of this mod, but you are the first I've seen running this version. Good luck, it's very challenging! One note: I suggest you avoid using that flickery, flashy "old film" effect in your intros again, it's a bit unsettling.
Imperial japanese military: we have basic equipment and a navy that cant be rebuilt if lost Usa: we have more farmboys in Kansas than you have ammunition
@h.s.m.637 america was pretty isolationist at that time, i doubt even the uk bff Roosevelt could sell it to the american people. Another pearl would probably come up by ure coincidence and get the americans fired up
@@carloschristanio4709 Not a chance, there was no world in which the IJN southern campaign could permit the Philipenese to hang out all along their front and even behind them. The Philippines had to be secured, and that involved the USA. IJ had reached out for a non-aggression pact, which was denied by the occupation government of the Philippines as well as the USA. Also, Japan also thought very clearly in racial terms and there was no way in their mind the USA would not join with AUS and UK once fighting broke out around them.
Japans military was for more modern in the early days of ww2 and our allies had antiquated weapons and planes it wouldn’t be until 1943 that we really started putting on the pressure on japan.
Those aircraft at the end were Curtiss Cw21. The Dutch bought a lot of designs the US military rejected so the companies could make back some of their money. Effectively a P-40A/B/C competitor
Taff, just a heads up: the Nakajima B5N (codenamed "Kate" by the Allies) was the IJN's Torpedo Bomber from 1940-43. Its American equivalent is the MUCH DEDPISED, MUCH maligned and SERIOUSLY UNDERPERFORMING, Douglas TBD Devastator.
I'm guessing that the KGV and Renown are actually PoW and Repulse. Given that you are invading Singapore from Borneo Yamashitta's invasion force has either been turned back or you are sending in the "Tiger of Malaya" from Borneo. Hopefully you kind find a better use for the IJN submarines - U-Boat Pacific?
Looks like you did take out a lot of bombers. If the AI has the same slow replen as you that'll really give you an advantage in blunting their air attacksm
Taff, love your content.. But PLEASE don't do too much of the flickery-thing in the opener, again. A little bit sets the mood, but a lot was headache-inducing... Loved the video otherwise! Cheers, mate!
Actually, no, not in this game. Once a compartment is destroyed and flooded, it can't take any more damage. It's better to attack both sides to damage and flood more compartments, and thus sink the ship.
See ' ABDACOM Defensive' playthroughs from Wolfpack, J76ny , Stickmastermen... 100s of hours of counter-factual re-taking of Singapore.... unfortunately most final episodes consist of mopping up 3-ship unarmoured merchant convoys ... but some brilliant surface engagements and my favourite.... Swordfish torpedo runs at IJN... well worth watching
Hey Mate, its YorT here from the ABDA Team, I sent you an email regarding "pre-release" of V2.1 if you are interested. Cheers and keep up the good work
my strategy was: ignore singapore and take Borneo and Celebes....Enemy defeated! and bomb the rest of the airfields to Zero! now hes trying to take some back with just small Merchants ...lol dunno why but enemy lacks major ships like BBs etc either hes no command points left or its just a weird Mod. yeah i also took Java and built the Rank 5 airfields there
Yeah, I had to skip ahead. It was really hard to watch. I am not sure if it is part of the game intro or if Taff made it, but that "newsreel" effect was uncomfortable.
And this is perfect example why I stopped playing this game - early war ships with low amount of AA guns rips to shreds every single airforce attack... Compare that to the real historical values when even late war ships (which had 5-10 times more AA guns) barely managed to shot down 2%-3% of attacking aircrafts. Operation Ten-go for example: 10 Japanese ships with insane amount of AA guns (Yamato itself had almost 200 AA guns at this stage of war) during 3 hours fight against 350 American aircrafts destroyed in total only 10 aircrafts... This game is amazing but its ridiculous AA efficiency completely ruins the immersion :(
Its due to the low amount of planes in the engagement and the fact that they cant be close to eachother, slow or enter the range at different times. If you setup correctly, you end up losing 1-2 aircraft max per attack. How to setup correctly? Have everything getting into the ships AA range at the same time, while before starting the attack having a scout plane at around 2.400m circling the fleet at max speed. Basically you pull aggro of AA towards this high up plane and get into the rest of the guns range with all aircraft at the same time, while the aircraft are spaced using the form up command. That, or level bomb =)
I hate the attempt at historical footage, it's too jumpy and it flashes too much. It's supposed to be from WW2, not WW1, it could definitely do without the flashing and jumping, at least.

I love what they did with the heavy mg sounds of the AAA.
Can we just talk about how sexy the chorus of Japanese AA-fire sounds?
Thanks, Taff. I've been waiting for a series like this to get into. Can't wait for the next one already.

So the Brits sent her sisters in place for a rematch lmao

Not only will we rebuild our navy but fight a war on two fronts across the two largest oceans while supplying equipment to all of the allies.
Japan did not heed the wise warnings against their plans from Admiral Yamamoto.
Ot would be an interesting alternative history if the japanese never attacked pearl but still declared war on the western allies

Torpedos, torpedos, torpedos. The bane of Allied navies.
Japans military was for more modern in the early days of ww2 and our allies had antiquated weapons and planes it wouldn’t be until 1943 that we really started putting on the pressure on japan.
The earliest days of radar on ships. Allies would quickly take the lead and that was a pivotal tech.
Not necessarily true, but the Japanese were more prepared for war than the Allies were at the get go.
Great vid taff, though the wobbly effect around 1 minute onwards was quite hard to watch

Pip pip.
Never could get the save games to load. Shame, was good fun for what I could play.
Quick question: why didn‘t you take evasive maneuvers while being bombed?
This will be neat, from the Japans perspective. Can you zig zag the fleet when aerial attacks happen?
Another good one.
Oh, Force Z survived

You should attack from just one side to maximize flooding on that side, making it impossible to counter.

Bit of a brown trousers moment finding King George following you
