One thing I learned playing this game: stay in the combat whilst the damage control teams fix all the structural damage on the ships. That way, when the task force is next engaged, you don't start with a bunch of partially damaged ships. This is really helpful for the obvious reason, but also because it means the damage control teams are ready to deal with fires and flooding when you take hits.
Thank you for making such truly amazing content. It is hard to determine perfection; however, your narration, editing, and preparation for these campaigns serve as a useful benchmark. Bravo Zulu, friend.
I bought the game after the ABDACOM series started, got into Cold Waters, SH3 and 4 due to his videos and I have to say his videos tell an amazing story I really enjoy. I wish he would do another SH4 video because I have the most time in that game and it's been SO LONG since the last campaign.
I met this veteran who served on HMS repulse in ww2, and before that he server on the arctic convoys on a destroyer, and yes he was on HMS repulse when she sank
Going off on Taff in exile war on the sea series, having your fleet being covered by fighters would be very useful since historical Japanese AAA wasn’t that good
The main issue was they lacked medium AA. They had 25mm light stuff and then nothing until 100mm heavy AA. not having anything in the 40-50mm range was a big problem.
@@Karagianis The 25mm guns also sucked compared to comparable weapons that other nations used. They couldn't sustain fire like others could since they were magazine fed and had to stop while changing them while other nations used weapons that could be constantly fed more through clips that dropping in. They also suffered from a problem that everything in their caliber range suffered from: they were small and needed a lot more direct hits to take planes down. And unlike the USN who put guns on every available inch of deck space to the point of making their ships top heavy, the IJN never had enough of those 25mm guns to really matter.
The twin engine planes strafing are Bristol Blenheim bombers that in this mod are refit with a machine gun pod in the bomb bay. They are considered a separate type from the bomb-load Blenheims
I thought you might want to try this very challenging campaign from the IJN side. Be aware that the mod appears to have some behavioral changes since adding the new campaign. Depending on the difficulty setting you chose, you can expect to see hordes of Allied planes making very effective attacks on your ships. Be patient, they can be defeated, especially with your skill at this game. Also be aware that although you can launch sea assets from Tarakan, you cannot release and repair them there. You can fix that if you raise the port level to 5. Good luck!
You're off to a cracking start, Wolfpack! Wow, HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse in one episode! By the way, those twin-engine aircraft were Bristol Blenheim fighter-bombers.
Excellent series. And alternating between US and Japanese forces really make this series refreshing. The abdacom mod was really a challenging series, and I look forward this series to change the course of the war. In history, the sinking of Price of Wales and Repulse really devastated the morales of the British and made the fall of Malaya and Singapore a lot easier.
What a coincidence, I hadn't checked in on wolfpack since the last War on the Sea series ended and just happened to see that a new series had started the same day I check back in
Great to see you playing the War On The Seas series again, mate! Ever wondered what Asia would have looked like today had Britain not shit the bed at Singapore and actually stood and fought with reinforcements properly brought in? Interesting little thought experiment.
I remember, in my own game, Repulse and Prince of Wales were always protected by huge fighters covers. My bombers would get wrecked and even my own fighters sent to cover for the bombers werent enough. So yeah, I needed a sub to get the job done. I also remember it took me a lot of time reaching the required amount of enemy ships sunk to have accelerated resupplying, even though I had naval superiority achieved big time already. But I prevailed eventually. But unfortunately, right now, I'm trying to play the pacific campaign mod to know avail, it always crashes when I start the campaign.....
Woo hoo! The obly down side is i have to wait for each episode. I got spoiled finding your last WOTS campaign late, and beong able tp binge it. Oh well, still enjoying it!
Haven't seen a War on the Sea series in a while and I didn't know they finally changed the sound for the anti-aircraft batteries ! It's more pleasing now ; I don't know what kind of AA gun they used for the sound before but it was grating after several minutes.
Ngl im so happy to see you try japan again in this game. Youve got to be my favourite youtuber over all over the years. I always come back to this amazing channel. ✌️
With the sinking of the largest british precense in the dutch east indies, the IJN sends their conglatulatory quite early in the campaign than real life.
I wish the development speed of this game was a little higher. There's so much potential but it feels like the game has stagnated quite a bit. Excited for this series!
The devs are pushing updates but it's so slow. Luckily the mod community is relatively active. I have probably 100 hours in the Tokyo Express mod with all the ships and planes they added
@@vaughn1804 yeah TTE gives you a bunch more ships but you are still limited to a task force of 10. From what I've read from modders they can't even get more than 10 without re writing massive amounts of code. Who knows, maybe something for AI to do.
Glad to see you tackle the Centrifugal mod. I've been watching Taff's experiences with it, and hope you don't end up getting as frustrated as he has gotten. Mostly with the Allies AI spamming of almost inexhaustible air attacks all over the place on convoys, along with the very limited aircraft to provide caps (until you buy a fleet carrier). Of course Taff never shipped much in the way of supplies, oil or engineering, which the games rules indicate are necessary to replace all aircraft losses...
Great Video! I really enjoy the different types of ships, and love identifying them. Wonder if you can identify the ships a bit more. Keep up the uploads !
Awesome! Another WOTS playthrough! Can't wait to see how it pans out! Are you planning on doing the mod that plays through the entire war at some point as well?
played it a while ago aswell. the airraids the KI can do is crazy. i sat there for a bit more then 2h watching my trasports gettin sunk by like 55 planes and my combat taskforce getting shot into shit by 73 planes of all sorts. never managed it to engage enemy ships because of the constant air raids. tried then the american side and couldnt launch more then like 3 or 4 planes from each airport. no idea how the KI is doin that but after the 2h+ i stoped playing. i like this game but thats just to much for me. glad you enjoy it
Re uploaded because I goofed! Still getting used to the new editing software... Sorry about that
Its fine great to watch again!
I thought I was lossing my mind and going crazy.
What was the error?
@@Davoda2Well I guess it was the Prologue.
Was wondering if I was imagining things
Yes! Another "War on the Sea" campaign by Wolfpack! We love you, man. Cheers from Italy!
I had no idea until now, im so hyped

Whenever you leave combat now, the damage is automatically patched(any area that is not blacked out) so this tip is useless now

Wow! Thank you so much! I appriciate your kind words and support!
The Total War: Shogun 2 music at the intro made me hyped as fuck
I had the sound on low and I thought the music was an old style modem tweating! I was confused for a moment :)

Taff in Exile is doing an SH4 campaign if you haven't seen that.

You're my favorite channel for War on the Sea content, your introductions are always interesting and informative. Thanks for your hard work.
Awesome to see more of war on the sea.
It's a game I don't have time to play often so it's nice to be able to watch while working
Looking forward to another War on The Sea playthrough. Can never get enough of them. I also appreciate the way you narrate the intros.
More War on the sea!? YES!
So glad you’re bringing this one back!! This is why I started following you!
The Prince of Wales is now sleeping with the Whales
So happy to be back to War on the Sea with Wolfpack. The best.
Thank you again for this series. I really enjoy you playing this game and the associated mods. Glad you brought it back!
You really got me into naval sims Wolfpack. Love all of your War In the Sea series, can't wait for more.
