- Hi all, we will be taking a look at pombruv's Early Mediterranean campaign for War on the Sea.
We will command the Allied forces as we look to secure Malta and take control of the Mediterranean from the joint Italian and German Forces!
MOD - VERSION 2.2 pombruv's Atlantic & Mediterranean Campaigns (with Axis player options) steamcommunity...
ABOUT THE MOD
This mod is NOT historically accurate.
If you are looking for a historically accurate mod with all the right ships and planes then you are out of luck I'm afraid. This mod isn't it - and never will be. Think of it as a fictional account based very loosely on actual events, a bit like most Hollywood war movies.
It is just intended to be a bit of fun so that we can spend some time pitting the British against the Italians and Germans with a little bit of USA thrown in later. This is just a series of opportunities to blow stuff up and have lots of battles - and that's it really.
Also, I have only a limited number of ships and planes I have been given permission to use so rather than just have Allied and Axis forces comprising 3 or 4 accurate ships/planes of the correct period, I've bunged them all in together just so you have plenty of things to blow up - and plenty of things to blow other things up with.
So ignore history like I have. Just go: Boom! Crash! Whizz! Brrrrrt! Sploosh! - and have fun for fun's sake. Forget immersion, it's just a game.
But, if you really, really, need historical accuracy then I believe a new more historically accurate Atlantic mod is on the way. There is also a similarly accurate Mediterranean mod in the pipeline too. I recommend you wait for them, I'm sure they will be much better mods anyway :)
That bombing run was straight out of The Last Jedi. One bomber survives just long enough to drop the perfectly-aimed set of bombs needed to destroy the target capital ship.
I say we call this alternate history universe "Return to Castle Taffinstein"
Taff is still in prison for what he did in the pacific.
I approve of this campaign.
@@mikemontgomery2654so do the Taffosi
Good stuff, Taff. That bomb drop on the carrier was 1 in a 1,000,000. Walked every bomb right up the flight deck. Just devastating!
Historically accurate or not, THIS is fun and captivating stuff! Good man, Taff!
Lost the squadron but got the flattop. If you want an omelet you have to be willing to break a couple of eggs! 🤔
Then again, one could argue that attacking a Carrier, who is obviously going to have CAP up, without fighter escort could be called somewhat suicidal
@@janhapunkt266 Yeah, but he didn't lose any fighters.
@@montarakid1943 true
It may not be historical at all, but it's very entertaining!
Don't know if I'm more amazed by the acrobatics the pilots pull or the seemingly laser guided b17 raids :D And we thought the 17s they sent after you in the last campaign where too accurate.
Also I really hope the Werner Voß carrier had at least a mustached face on it's front, like Werners Fokker Dr1 did. (Easily my favorite airplane livery, ever)
14:04 Thats why im here for, great shot, Taff. Keep it up
Oh yeah i can't wait for the more historical mod from the east indies team to be released, this one is honestly a personal powercreep (as the author said)
Tough week for the flight crews, but a tougher week for the German and Italian fleets - the Mediterranean is awash with blood!
I'm sure that in the 1st episode was a BC on the ship list, HMS Hood would be a "mighty" fine addition to your Exeter Fleet, Mr Taff sir :)
B17s seem a bit powerful in this mod
I'd like to rather see Lancaster with Tallboy or Grandslam.
14x1000lb fantasy bomb loads, carpet bombing the sea, what's so OP about that?
(sarcasm🤣)
I think he's using a slightly older version of the mod, where just about every single heavy bomber was RUTHLESSLY overpowered. It's been toned down a bit in the more recent updates, but honestly? It's just fun to use, especially since the AI has access to its own OP bombers.
Very impressive coordination of assets...like a chess match
Page from Thomas Alexander’s journal…
October 1st, 1940
1659hrs: Again we were ordered to scramble to intercept more bombers. Still reeling from the high from my first interception I jumped into my Spitfire and made my way to the intercept point. Just like last time I stuck with Group Captain Taylors and Lieutenant Daniels and performed our deadly dance with the enemy. My wing managed to shoot down 2 of the bombers while the second wing quickly dispatched the remaining 4.
It was around 1720 when we got a callout on the radio from the island saying that a flight of fighters were spotted on scope the the North-West of our current position, since we still had fuel and ammo we acknowledged the message and turned towards them.
We found a group of attack aircraft who were apparently out in search of some of our ships. We made our attack run where surprisingly, the Hun can fly quite well. Before I knew what happened I heard over the radio that one of our lads was hit and bailing out ! Then another one… and another one. It wasn’t until Taylors called out to me on the radio that I realized he was pulling a couple of the Huns in line for me to get a shot on them. I lined up my sites and squeezed off the trigger, I pulled lead on the first plane and shot him down and continued my flight path and shot down the second plane in quick order. My Forth and Fifth kills, I’m now an Ace. Daniels managed to shoot down another aircraft.
We were all either low on ammo, low on fuel, badly damaged, or a combination of the three. So Group Captain Taylors made the call to RTB. Both sides engaged with 8 planes, both lost 3. A draw in my book, but Daniels says that it’s a strategic victory because we had to force them to abandon their mission and return home.
When we got back we had a little victory celebration for me on getting my Fifth kill, making me an official Ace. It’s been a long day but this is nice, seeing people laughing and enjoying themselves. I only hope I can live long enough to see this turn into a “Germany Surrenders” party.
I dont mind the lazer scope bombign or wonky timelien of available ships, i appreciate accuracy, but i can also apprecviate just going out and blowing stuff up, good show Taff
There's nothing like Incomparable!
So the B-17s are the version from Billy Mitchell's and Frank Maxwell's wildest dreams where the heavy bomber will make the Navy obsolete.
this is so exciting, thank you Taff
I downloaded this mod as soon as I saw it on your channel...and I do have to say....the damn italian heavy cruisers seem to be made of Mussolinium....which is obviously a metal related in some way to the Soviet Stalinium...it was fighting alone against an entire fleet of my ships...including both the nelson and rodney...a couple of british heavy and light crusiers...and the rest being destroyers...it must have taken 60 direct hits from the rodney and nelson alone before finally going down 30 minutes into the battle.
You really need to have some kind of fleet at Alexandria. It was the vital port that protected the Suez Canal. There were often battleships in the harbour. 😊❤😊
Based at Alexandria: Three Queen Elizabeth class battleships, Three County Class Heavy Cruisers, Three Arethusa Class Light Cruisers, Aircraft carrier HMS Glorious and four destroyer flotilla of up to twenty destroyers per flotilla.
Alexandria needs beefing up.
The RAF also flew Spitfires, Hurricanes, Wellingtons and Beaufighters out of Egypt. Building a decent airbase seems sensible too. 😊❤😊
You are certainly off to a Very Fine start , always enjoy watching your handy work , keep up the great work !!
Whenever you have a large formation of b-17s like that have them form up in a box formation altogether it's the best formation for defense against enemy fighters
That second sub you missed was to the left of the spitfire. I was telling you it was to the left lol
That was some Midway-style carrier strike!
Ah.....as I watch the gameplay, I see why Wolfpack 345 hasn't decided to go down road of playing this "Arcade" like Mod.
Good stuff man. I am moving in on the Japanese main Islands on my first campaign.
Really great sinkings loved it
It would be nice to see a revisit of UBOAT, after it's revision.
Точность бомбометания четырехмоторных бомбардировщиков нужно исправлять.
Они не были такими точными. За всю Вторую Мировую войну было всего два или три случая, когда четырехмоторные бомбардировщики попадали в движущийся корабль.
Nice work there taff
Defo should get some more ships in the water
The accuracy of the B-17 bombers is suspect at least.
When using torpedo/tactical/diving/strategic bombers, DO always escort them with fighters.
17:28 In World of Warships Blitz That’s August Manfred!! The Tier 10 German Aircraft Carrier
Rockets are good against subs, destroyers and small merchants. And they are quite accurate.
Not sure why they're not used more.
The ships are sinking too easily for my liking. But the great vid
I echo.... what a bomb run..!!!
Good job!!
it seems this game was planned as a what if there were no naval treaties as several ships that were planned but cancelled by the treaties are here. Although the planes are totally in fantasy land how long before we get B-29's and P-80 shooting stars at this rate.😅
Nice one gaff when's the next one coming
The bomber will always get through so they say
How does a gentleman go about acquiring this scenario?
spitfire with rockets for anti-shipping.....devastating
The heavy bomber accuracy seems wayyyyyy too good - WW2 bombers often struggled to hit the right grid square let alone dropping a string of bombs down the length of a destroyer
Free Buck O'Hare.✊
In this slightly fictional Mediterranean campaign do the Italians have an aircraft carrier? Or do they or the Germans get access to a carrier later in the campaign??
What a submarine smash fest
lol this is so silly
Warhammer War on the Sea.
Mate, B17's way overpowered. They mostly used only for strategic bombing like ports, installations, transport hubs, etc. How you using them is wrecking the play balance I think.
Why is Tripoli under allied control in 1940 and how are British B-17s based out of it? WTH?!
It's Alt history.
The same reason the Germans have a working aircraft carrier and there are Mk. 23 Spits flying around with RP-3s under their wings along with He-177s and Ta-152s
Carrier group - excellent, battleship - not good... slow, and if finally gets into range of something, it is either big waste of ammo, or (if enemy is about equal) it is allways several damage to few of your ships, gotta retreat/repair/reammo after just one battle :(
NEVER NEVER Put any escorts to a carrier that are slower than the carrier itself...All escorts should be able to keep up with the carrier or you slow down the whole group...Carriers rely on their speed to stay out of range of enemy ships and strike with their aircraft. You put a 32 knot carrier with a 25 knot battleship.....STUPID move.
Can you plz get the incomperable
Battleship incomparable 20inch gun ship
Honestly, I'm not enjoying this mod. The Axis aircraft carriers, the wrong timeline for aircraft and the ridiculous accuracy of the B17's etc. It's such a shame because when l saw this mod being released, l was excited by the historical landscape in which this is set. I accept that all games are difficult to make 100% accurate, but for me, this crosses so many lines. Hopefully, someone will make a more realistic version for this theatre of operations. I am very much enjoying Wolfpack345 Indian Ocean Campaign at the moment.
lol this mod looks way too easy it's not even funny. You could've mopped the Axis side up even with super hard mode. Playing the Italian side in even moderate mode might be super tough.
