That was probably the most difficult VW engine that I've mounted yet, the studs being all bent goofy really caused some big issues and a lot of unecessary fighting to get it in there straight.... well, ITS GOOD NOW!
Y'know, as a thought, if you ever sold a calendar with all the Bee thumbnails in it you've used, that'd be a damn nice collection of Duckman Digital Photography right there. Always love the vids Duckman, thanks for sharing with us!
Makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one that has day's like that, glad to see you got it sorted, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Be nice to your atv jack it likes the sun just as much as you do when your trying to do some work. Thank you for sharing your struggles and victories on this fun little car! I loved my 64 after my dad and i finished her second rebuild and installation.
Add some oil to your jack sometimes they get low on oil. Maybe next time since you know put some brand new studs in the motor mounts. Looks like a good stupid beatle. I bet it starts right up. I have been avoiding working on my VW its so freaking hot. Hiding in the house. Sometimes I go out a hour or two before sun set to do little stuff to the engine.
Can't add anymore when its already full, lol! Said that in the video. But new studs were a good idea, didn't realize how bad they were until I already had the engine almost in. Ugh... well... THEY ARE STRAIGHT NOW! LoL! And this heat, oh man.... we've got a hurricane forecasted, should miss me, but will lower the temperature considerably. I guess we'll see! More on that soon! LoL! Thanks man!
I hate realigning the Decklid if I remove one. And it seems the little bolts are either cross threaded or striped. That bugs seems pretty solid. Suprised I don't see any rust behind the rear side vent. It being from the east coast. Oh man the humidity 😫 lol .Noel
Yeah, the decklid alignment process can be quite obnoxious, I've never run into a stripped nor cross-threaded one, so I'll consider myself lucky in that department. I think the rear vents were already repaired. I see evidence of a couple welds that they forgot to grind... lol, not the best work, but at least it looks OK.... for not!
It's always a pain in the ass when you have to assemble someone else's mistakes and figure out what else they goofed up while doing it! Lucky, they had Lord Duckman doing the job! hey, what's Bill working on lately? He also has a lot of BUS knowledge it seems.
Good work, ma lord! Quite a fight, but you prevailed. What're your thoughts on a removeable rear apron as well as a hatch in the package tray like you did with Eleanore? Thinking of doing that for easier access for engine and transmission.
I wish I put the removable apron setup on Eleanore. I really missed the Bus with that one and focused on so much else. We'll see though, I may just get out the saw and do it.
G'day Lord Duckman. That definitely looks like pull your hair out hard work. Just a tip: When I'm working on my vw engines I always have a roll of toilet paper to plug any holes, especially my carby manifolds. (That's clean toilet paper. 🚽) Q. Is that your camper out the front. Thanks for sharing man ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Camper is in today's video at the end, I find TP is too messy though, always makes crumbs. I've been happier with paper towels, or just a plastic bag. 😁👍🦆💩
Surprised that this motor has the thermostat and flap system, which is a good thing. But you’re right that in warmer climates even the factory did away with that system; I am thinking Brazil.
Yeah they are always missing on Florida cars... lol! This one was complete but there was no way it was working in that condition. Oh man, better off disabled, than wonky!

Hate it when they fight us that bad but satisfying when it’s finally in place.
Oh man, this one was a disaster, the owner really mangled those lower studs.

I've thought about it, but never actually pulled the trigger. Maybe someday soon! Probably a good time right now with the year about to roll over.
@@DuckmanCycles Oh hell yeah, if you did go for it, lemme know. 'All proceeds go towards duck feed and beetle parts!"
Things should go smooth now. That will be a fine car.
Here's hoping it doesn't have to come back out, right? LoL!
The good ole 12.5mm bolts and nuts 🤣🤣🤣
12.7mm, I marked it on my toolbox somewhere, lol! I plan to organize my tools in metric order with labels in future shop hehe!

Oh man... everyday is like that, some are worse, this was one of the better ones lol! Thanks man!
@@DuckmanCycles hopefully that will change when you get the new shop, all the best
Well, at least with the shop weather will affect me MUCH LESS! Right? Hehe! Thanks man!
If Chrome molo push rods..recommended to do 0 lash or just enough to roll push rod slightly.
Or take them out and burn them lol
Along with all those 009's
Throw them up and shoot with some birdshot. LoL! I guess we have a plan when I get the land together.
2:37 Hey GLENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN, I always thought the right tool was channel locks or vise grips. And duckman tape to lock it in place.
Nope, that'll mangle it worse! LoL!

Thanks John! It was a fight, but I won! Dunno what the jack's problem is though lol

Indeed... always easier if I took it apart, too... lol! I'm on the job!
Check out Wild Bill's UA-cam channel. He published a video recently, for the first time in a long time.

But tp is better. You can use 3 plyl
Cant you use one of those pop up tents over the car for shade???
Not when the sun comes down sideways, most of the tents are too small too. I've experimented.
