    I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for the support and encouragement! Without you, the videos would have stopped after the 1915 fiasco. I can’t say how much the VW community means to me!

    I want to thank you for your videos especially having your son assist with your builds. I’m just getting back into VW after 50 years since my first 1965 beetle my dad got me when I graduated from high school in 1972. I was hooked from the beginning but life took me in many directions since then. I just purchased a 1967 VW deluxe bus with a fresh 1915 in it. I will be referring to your videos for guidance since I feel yours are the best I have seen. Thanks again and keep posting.

      I appreciate the kind words and also thank you for being here and taking the time to comment. Glad to hear VW’s have found their way back in your life. We all have things happen in life that take us away from this or that, priorities suck sometimes lol
      There are other great, more experienced people out there that could potentially help you more if needed, just reach out and I’m sure most would be willing to help. I’m not an expert, just a guy recording his experiences and ways of doing things.

    Hey I just wanted to tell you what a GREAT job on your build ! ! It always amazes me how we can buy a butt load of parts and pieces and put them all together and it "lives" ! ! These engines are all "learning experiences " so your spun bearing engine is ancient history bro ! ! I am glad you picked yourself up and built this "beast " , it runs good and looks good 👍 KEEP BUILDING BRO 😎 👍

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  Рік тому +1

      Thank you, I appreciate that.
      It takes quite a bit of time even off camera to ensure these parts all work together properly, several mock ups, etc. It’s one thing to slap it all together but it’s another to ensure everything is proper and within spec.
      Everything is a learning experience, no one knows everything and I’ve stated that several times in my videos.

    I measure all mine then label the container as to which size is in which.

    Great job brother!! She sounds wonderful! I knew you had disappointment in your eyes, when the 1915 burped along the way. But I knew you had it in you to keep moving forward!! Me personally, well I would have went downhill briefly. But you kept pushing!! But these are the type of things that happen, when we are in the car culture. The VW community is one of the best I’ve ever lived through. My whole life has been VW. Briefly when stepping into the muscle car world, the people weren’t as friendly for some reason I’m not sure why. You did this brother, and you did it on your own. I’m very happy with your outcome!! I can’t wait to do the ride along in the next video. And hopefully if I can make it to the bug jam next year maybe I will get a ride in jawbreaker!! Keep up the good work my friend, you are really doing a good job. And just for reference, I change the fuel filter on my last beetle alongside the transmission where I had a mounted. And I also forgot to take the vice grips off. Could not figure out why the car wouldn’t run. 🙄😂

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  4 роки тому +2

      Slades VW Beetle I did not do this on my own. If it weren’t for awesome people like you I would have thrown in the towel. I do agree whole heartedly that the VW community is the beat out there. This is the exact reason why I post my experiences to help the community along.

      Slades VW Beetle regardless of being a small or large channel, it’s up to the person to make it what it is. I’ve been doing vids for over 2 years and only recently did I start to grow a little. Well done on bouncing back and getting it going. I am sure that sound of it coming to life and then settling on down to an idle was worth the pain. Would be interesting to see what sort of time and $$ you have in the 2054. Cheers, Steve, Sydney Australia

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  4 роки тому

      porsche356a yes sir Steve, you are correct! The anxiety of the cam break in is a rush and a major stress moment all wrapped into one. Seeing the oil pressure, temps, no leaks and no unusual noises sure sitters the mind real quick.
      As for the money into this build, I did get some parts for a killer deal which enabled me to build it to begin with, so the total cost isn’t as bad.... besides the new case and crank of course. Knowing me I’d hate to know the final cost lol

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 роки тому

      Hi Randy. Appreciate the kind words.
      The hose on the fuel block off plate is a breather hose that goes to a breather box on the firewall. Larger engines, higher hp engines benefit from a breather box but not all engines need one.

      Big W Adventures thanks Big W, I’m lucky to have such great support like yourself to keep me pushing forward. Still tuning the engine but the mpg isn’t horrible and I have room to improve!
      I run Valvoline VR1 oil either 10w30 or 20w50 depending on the engine. The VR1 has high zinc content that our engines need to live a long life. The main key is zinc for our oils, not so much the oil weight.

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 місяці тому

      Break in isn’t too much of a concern as driving. You just don’t want it getting too hot during break in. Keep the oil and case under 230-235 with additional fans if needed. Most times even here in the heat, break in temps don’t go over 200-205 because it’s only running for 20 minutes

    I have a 1915 now and I am wanting to go bigger. I was thinking 2332 but from your video's I don't think I want thin spots in my case. The 74mm crank looks a bit safer for me to go than the 84mm I was thinking about.
    Was 139 more cc's worth all the work or do you think I should go farther. Is there a crank available between 74 & 84?

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 роки тому +1

      Personally I’d go with an 82mm crank, that would give you a 2276. The main reason I went with the 74 stroke is because I had basically new pistons and didn’t want to but another set. There are A and B pistons. A is for the non stroked engines like my 2054 and your 1915. B pistons are stroker pistons which are for the larger strokes cranks. Depends on the case and what rods you have will depend on how much you’ll need to clearance out.

      @@VWJawbreaker This motor was build 10 years ago and was a stock H VW case align bored, bored to 94's, drilled for full flow, rebuilt stock rods with a counterbalanced crank. 041 heads with 40 intake 35.5 exhaust valves and dual Empi 40's. It's bolted to an 091 transaxle in a rail frame. Would the 82mm crank need to have more clearance in the case than the 74mm crank?

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 роки тому

      @@trevorallan1340 yes, you’ll need more clearance even for the 74 crank most likely. The way the rod bolts are on the stock rods will require a little more work with the case than aftermarket rods also.

    Hi buddy I agree with you your bug is cool, I think 2 litre is a good size and we’ll I think I would like to make the same motor you have, if you can assist me on your components used ,carbs, Distrubitor . What is a good compression ratio and why cam size , fk8 is that similar to Engle 110 and was told exceeding more than half inch lift reduces life also have you had any experience with the total seal rings also called no gap , or what video’s address my questions thanks Harry

      antbarrimont idle when hot oil pressure was around 30psi. I have since switched a few things around to correct the high oil pressure problem.

      antbarrimont yep. If I pulled the spring the plunger would slide out. Ended up finding stock springs that were not as stiff as the new ones and dropped the oil weight down. Now she’s idling around 15psi and around 50 when cruising.

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  9 місяців тому

      @@vwbtl9 I personally haven’t done side by side comparisons however the theory is the sump adds more volume of oil but doesn’t really help with cooling. Reason being there is more volume still being heated up by the engine.
      An external oil cooler in addition to the stock oil cooler is the best way to cool it down. That’s after you make sure the engine is tuned and running properly and all tins are in place.
