Bro turned AC4 from a intense game about plundering the seas for gold and becoming an assassin into a history documentary. I BET if this was on a history channel at 12am anyone watching wouldn't know the difference
Bro I fell asleep watching other stuff entirely. Wake to this on and I have a wave of nostalgia thinking I'm 8 again up after watching history channel all night. lol
Honestly, the entire reason I got into this franchise is because my 9th grade history teacher recommended it, because when you remove the templar and assassin stuff, it’s actually pretty accurate, at least compared to other history entertainment.
This is unironically better than a lot of stuff on the history channel anyway. I swear, all of us have a predisposition to piracy and war. My proof? I like black flag and metal gear A LOT
I love how this game incorporates it's protagonist into the historical setting in a plausible way. The Jackdaw for instance was a brig stolen from the doomed Spanish Treasure Fleet of 1715, considering the whole convoy was lost it's very possible that some escaped prisoners jacked one of the ships, we can never know either way. The pirate genre is so underutilized in gaming that this was a massive breath of fresh air. The vibrant Caribbean open world was a pleasure to explore, captaining my own ship never gets old, the characters were charismatic and very human, the story was and is amazing. Now I need to play through this game again.
i was reading into black beards story, even the way he was killed was very accurate in the game, each strike and the ending decapitation was how it was said to happen in real life
@MoGumbo_ from what I read he was shot 5 times and slashed and stabbed over 20 times before being decapitated which is pretty impressive and I also read he was a big guy at 6"4
The way you describe the modern day as if you’re an oblivious player/ character is brilliant. Really made me feel a different way about the modern day of black flag.
That line was almost enough to make me cry. "No longer a Jackdaw, now an Eagle." The new games make me so sad, there's really no philosophy in their writing. These games were about humanity and humility, and it's just not there anymore. We saw flashes of it with Mirage, but it's just not the same. Basim isn't entirely human OR particularly likable either, so that probably doesn't help.
It’s amazing to see you level up with every video. The way you bring these cluttered and clunky but often beautiful stories to life is a work of art. Can’t wait for AC Rogue!
I just find it so ironic that Edward Kenway became an assassin by killing an assassin defecting to the Templars, and his son becomes grand master of the Templars and his grandson became an assassin who was open to working with the Templars, but that failed. The Kenway name is just as interesting as the name De-Auditore
I love that even when some people suggested that your videos were way too long, you kept creating way too long videos, which for me, is great. I think about it just like when the producer of an artist tells him that he needs to create his music under certain standards, lenght and including specific sounds so the songs can be played in the radio for having a pop structure which will guarantee success. I really admire those musicians who are loyal to their own music and keep doing 6+ minutes songs, trying new and different sounds, rythms and instruments regardless what could bring them more money, listeners or success. Editing, recording, and writting in order to create your videos is a hard work. It is an art work for me, and you are a great artist. Thank you for creating the best video game documentaries on the internet. You are a great story teller
Discovered you recently while recovering from a back injury, these story videos and your lets plays have been a great distraction, thank you! Great video as always
So, several years ago, I played Black Flag. I made it all the way to the events at 1:20:00 in this video, then my game crashed and my save file was wiped clean for unknown reasons. As a result, I can say that while this is one of the most enjoyable Assassin's Creed games to play, It is also the only one I will probably never finish.
ME TOO, i was so sad i played the whole thing again but it happened again when i was fighting a legendary ship, then i kinda gave up on it, really gave me chills watching this vid
Cleared this game 9 times over. Each playthrough trying to obtain all chests and fragments. Gotta say, your retelling of the story since your AC1 summary has been very very excellent. Love these vids and keep up the good work!
Yeah, I don't know what it is with AC4, but I can't play this without 100%ing it, too. Everything about Black Flag just feels so right. After Rogue, I started playing Unity, but the mechanics just didn't click, so I dropped the series. Yet due to the sale, I'm 50h into Valhalla now, and 100%ing it is impossible. You'd have to unemployed - Christmas season holidays won't do. AC4 was perfect in terms of quantity.
My favorite ever game and by faaar my favorite protagonist ever written as far as videogames go. You have done a hell of a work with this one. Keep it up you mate
Masterful storytelling my friend, although I have played this story through many times, and regard Edward as one of my all time favourite characters, you pulled me in and kept me for the entire tale. Great work.
I've finished this game at least 2 times and know the story. Yet the way you present it here is very entertaining. Really love how you spliced together different parts of gameplay and cut scenes to tell the story.
The quality of these videos feels like a history channel documentary back before they stopped caring about history and started focusing on reality TV vaguely related to history
My experience of the game is enhanced by a thousand after watching this video. These deep dives into the stories of the AC games as soon as I've finished the games makes me love the franchise more and more, thanks to you. I hope you will continue making these detailed videos. Take my gratitude.
I really hope you cover Freedom Cry, and that that’s what you mean by “to be continued”. My favorite story to tell about playing this game is the fight with Roberts. I’m reality, he had been killed by a chain shot. Not knowing this at the time, I actually killed him with a chain shot the first time I played it. The game transported me to the cutscene that plays after, without me having to board the ship. I’ve never been able to replicate the act, as it seems I managed to hit a high wave just right in order to shoot him.
When that sea shanty played halfway through the video I honestly got goosebumps lol something about a large group of people singing a shanty just makes me so happy lol
I just finished Black Flag for the first time literally hours ago. I was surprised to find that I teared up twice during the last few sequences. I absolutely loved the story, and I'm excited to see how you weave the 30ish hours of gameplay I just finished into a beautiful 1:30:46 movie.
You really do make the game Story justice and your way to tell the tales are amazing rivaling the books and games alike! If not even at some points surpassing them. I´m looking forward to the next one and hopefully more.

I hope you cover Freedom Cry, underrate game and very impactful imo (especially the slave boat mission).
