    It's kinda ironic that Shay cares so much for innocent lives because Rogue is one of the games where you can kill civilians without penalty/desynchronization

      Its a pretty great twist. Is this the first appearance in which the series punishes through hunter NPCs instead of desync?

      Im thinking it could be because of Lisbon, a permanent traumatic marker in the genetic memories that makes a haze of anyone he kills from that moment forward

    • @simondeep
      @simondeep 5 місяців тому +1

      @@tucan9111 That's pretty clever. it reminds me of some different animus notes in Syndicate: because most people tune-out when they're travelling, those genetic memories have hazy spots too. Possibly an explanation for Fast Travel

      Is it really? I'm going through my first playthrough of black flag it's like a clunky ac3 but big mapped so it's okay like a obese dlc. But I found your comment interesting and as a fan of black flag and ac3, will I be as lost as liberation?..

    Amazing narration as always. One small correction I want to add. Lawrence Washington and James Wardrop were not officially Grand Masters. At that point of time the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order did not yet exist. It was rather weak and was only a prelude to what's to come. As such, it was considered as a merely extension of the British Rite and was completely under control of the British Grand Master Reginald Birch. It was only when Haytham was officially sent to the Colonies by Birch, the Order in the Colonies has become an officially separate Colonial Rite with Haytham Kenway appointed as its first Grand Master.
    But pay no mind to me geeking out, lmao, it is a fantastic video! Always nice to listen to your narrations and in depth retelling of the story.

    The video was very well made. And you are very smooth and easy to listen to. You made this story so compelling, even if it was a super lame story in reality. • @Rengokuo4o6
      @Rengokuo4o6 10 місяців тому +4

      I constantly keep hearing this bullshit take.
      "assassin creed rogue is lame because it just flipped the story"
      In reality assassin's creed rogue is one of the games that actually brought the supposed grey area to the war between the assassins and templars. In previous games it was non-existent. Only Ac revelation, Ac 3 and a little bit of ac 1 has this three dimensionality. The rest are just one dimesionsal portrayal of two factions that are made up of cold blooded killers.

    • @AnonymousEnigma19
      @AnonymousEnigma19 9 місяців тому +1

      @@Rengokuo4o6it's not just that, the actions of the assassins in this game make no sense, they completely disregard their Creed, I theorize that in truth the Templars may have frame the Assassins while also to the Assassins framing Shay Cormac, it makes some sense to it.

    I can’t be doing with Shays story. He’s too noble to be a Templar. Shay’s story is just Absertgo messing with the memories of the Subject they took the DNA from. They even tried to manipulate Connor’s memories for Abstergo Entertainment to make him an evil and bitter man. I wouldn’t be surprised that it turned out Shay Cormac was a right bastard!

    • @chrissmart21
      @chrissmart21 10 місяців тому +1

      @31782. We don't know how long they had Shay's descendants DNA for. End of the day Shay just doesn't do it for me. There's just to much nobility from a Templar. It's like when Haytham shot Achilles, Haytham is a stone cold killer, there's no way he would show that amount of mercy.

    • @tylerteni8996
      @tylerteni8996 6 днів тому +1

    I went back and played every AC game last year shortly after Valhalla came out. After about six months and a few hundred hours of gameplay, I settled on quite an unorthodox trio of favorites.
    Rogue, Odyssey, and Brotherhood are my top 3, in that order.
    Following those three, in order of favorite to least favorite
    AC II (Speaks for itself)
    Origins (PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF IOMADAE GIVE BAYEK A SEQUEL)
    AC I (Barebones game, rose tinted glasses)
    AC III (Hated this game as a kid)
    Revelations (Borderline mid, very shallow)
    From here it's down to games I didn't enjoy
    Valhalla (Great game, bad AC)
    Unity (yes, it's terrible in 2023)
    Black Flag (Good story, bad game)
    Syndicate (Boring story, bad game)
    The point of all this is, Rogue is a fantastic game and the epitome of what it was to be an Assassin's Creed game.

    This is pretty sad to see. The story was kinda well written and shown (mostly well written). And today it's gone.
    If they wrote it today, it would be pretty basic and paint the assassin's as truly evil people... the easy way to write it, make "a few bad apples". Which is boring.
    But here, they actually went: "wait, what if we write a story where a Templar just leaves out SOME vital info, but not all, to manipulate an assassin. For example: when Leonardo DaVinci gave ezio a literal gun, a Templar and ex-assassin can discover this info, and the Templar can sneak in a comment like "what scares me, is that DaVinci works for the Borgia and previously worked for Florence, and he might use that weapon to arm the while Roman army to conquer the world, instead of just giving it to the assassins."
