GN showed this card had the coolest mem temp but this was before the nitro was released. I have this card with a -100mV undervolt and it's cool as a cucumber
I am still surprised that none of the reviewers have figured out that there is an easy way to judge the power draw of a video card. All you need is a processor with built in graphics, like the 3400 from AMD. Set up the system, run it without a graphics card, check the power draw, then add the graphics card and recheck the power. It will give you a very good look at graphics only power
@@dagothur76839 yes, but less power than an add on gpu. Plus, once you change to the graphics card, the power draw will be different. Even if it isn't using it, the IGOPU should still be getting power. You can still attach a monitor to it and get a screen
On Pc Case Gear here in Australia atm this card is $200 AUD more expensive than the 5700 THICC II which (if you don't care about warrantee) can be flashed and have it's plastic and backplate removed to become a decent card.
Dude the chair makes it look like you have a mullet. I was convinced until you turned your head lol. That said great video. Still on the fence between purchasing this and the MSI mech OC 5700xt.
Dear Sir, there is no video on Rx 5700 non-XT variant. i just bought the same model as in this video illustrates, but i have the NON XT regular one and i cannot find any review on the regular variant. It we be a honor to have make one at your own pace and schedule. Thank you
Got this card a little while ago and im very pleased with it. I run it with a mild undervolt (1100mv) and ram set to 920. In games it hovers at just over 2ghz all while drawing 175-185watts. Runs cool and quiet.
Do you have driver issues? I really want to get a 5700 XT but everywhere I hear that the 5700XT has heavy driver issues (bad fancurve, bad boosting on 144hz desktop, many crashes etc.)
@@Minkafighter i dont have any of the really bad driver issues. i use 165hz without issue, and game crashing happens less on this rig than it does on my 6700k/1070 rig. as for the fan curve? it has a strange way of boosting the fan speed at strange times. like during a cut scene. that being said its not loud or intrusive, but if your not wearing headphones or you have the volume on your speakers down low it is audible.
Short summary.. Best 5700 XT for stock settings (Price Vs Performance) Also.. it can be OC up to 1980 MHz.. but don't ever OC the Memory (92c with 950 MHz OC) Small Note: It's runing cooler than all other models for stock, cause it's draw less voltage in general.. the opposite of big beefy Nitro+ and fancy models
Thank you for all your hard work! I love watching all these 5700XT - reviews since I'm about to buy one myself. I'm wondering if you're gonna test the sapphire pulse as well?
Dear Steve, Is there any chance you guys might look into analyzing some Active UPS options? I think that's a very relevant product across the world, and a sweet spot would be 1000-1200VA models. Thank you for consideration!
If you are lucky... There are a lot of people complaining about very high junction temperatures with this model. I had one and experienced it myself. What didn't help either was that it caused the ventilators to spin around 1950-2025RPM, and that isn't quiet. 1900RPM wasn't quiet either. No, around 1600RPM is what I would consider quiet with this model. I am sensitive to sound, not everybody needs this level, but still 1900RPM isn't quiet for most people in most cases. Further keeping this card cool with 1600 or even 1700RPM will be a challenge. By that point you will have issues keeping the GPU cool at all. My card was in a Fractal Design R6, hardly a loud case. Exhaust fan is an 140mm Noctua, so the heat does get out. Junction temperature easily went to 100 degrees with my card. Now that is not a critical issue, but there are people who have reported far higher temperatures. It further limits attempts to make this card actually run quiet. To top it off, the fans themselves are cheap sleeve bearing models. Sapphire, Powercolor and recently MSI all use ball bearing fans. Thanks to crypto miners, we now know that sleeve bearing fans on GPU's have a pretty good chance of dying within three years. They do not have the same operating live as ball bearing models, they degrade if mounted horizontal and they degrade if exposed to heat. Further they degrade in acoustic performance over time, effectively becoming louder. ASUS seems to use the worst fans, even on the ROG Strix models. Those can die within a year if you have no luck at all. Gigabyte its fans aren't that much better. I got real sick and tired with this model and I since replaced it with a Nitro+ which is actually inaudible, at least 10 degrees Celsius cooler in both GPU junction and edge temperatures. It does that while drawing more power.
I agree, but 500$ for a 2070 super is a bigger steal ._. Nvidea dont have good prices, so why AMD will have perfects ones? Sadly thats how market works :/
@@FIRSTEBITOS the 2070 super is not a steal at 500. This card has nearly the exact same performance and its 420. Unless you really want ray tracing there is no reason to go nvidia if you are looking for a card in this price range.
Strange how some reviewers have this as one of the coolest for the memory (GN) and then here it's one of the hottest for the memory. I don't know if this is just due to assembly variance or what. Seems like this card has a lot of potential, but sadly overclocking isn't really much of a thing with the 5700xt.
Got the RX 5700 non-XT variation, and was very happy with it. Ran cool enough, rather quiet, and looks nice IMO. Sent it back for a refund though. Was having serious stuttering issues, that upon investigating online, it seems there's a large number of users having them, not specific to the Gaming OC, but to the RX 5700 series in general. It seems driver-related, as the GPU is deciding it doesn't need to go full throttle during gameplay at times, dropping clocks, sometimes massively, causing stutters. It's been 3 months nice it was released, and hasn't been fixed? Is not a single reviewer bumping into this issue?
Here in the UK the cheapest 5700xt is by far the Powercolor unbranded card. Couple of powercolor stickers on a plain black dual fan card and thats it. Wonder how it stacks up with these other cards and whether its cheap for a bad reason, or actually great value.
That's such a good review!! Why didn't you talk about the junction temperature though? I'd really like to know if mine is operating at a normal temperature...
The 5700xt prices here are so scuffed, I just bought this one yesterday for around 430€, most mainstream places here sell it around 450-480. But at the same time I saw the ASUS blower ver. going for 375€ at a store (now a day later they fixed it to 413€), really confusing times.
The Gigabyte 5700XT mem temperature 92c , because the Thermal paste doesn't touch the memery ~ it's need change the paste thickness! 3:22 I test my MSI 5700XT mech oc (memery clock 900mhz) without thermal paste( I remove it), it can work but temperature 94c as the same as this Gigybyte 5700XT. Micron 9JA77 D9WCW G DDR6 can work at 90c+ in 875mhz~
They must've had a small redesign because my Gigabyte 5700xt Gaming OC has the PCI-e plugs on the top of the card not on the end , it's my 2nd 5700xt , the 1st was a Red Dragon that died after just 3 days so I replaced it with one of these.
I've tryed a few 5700XT Cards ... Sapphire Pulse, XFX Thicc 2 even the praised Powercolor Red Devil and with all of them i had lots of problems with at least 4 Bluescreens a day ... even after multiple fresh Win10Pro installs ... I really wonder why the very anoying problems and the bad drivers are not mentioned here or at any other channel i found? To be fair ... unfinished drivers and bluescreens are a common problem at launch ... nearly no patches but still unfinished drivers and the same bluescreens 3 month after release are absolutly not acceptable. My old 1060 had no problem with my x570 Aorus Master + 3600x and 32GB Corsair Vengance and my new 2070 super works fine without any issues ... I bought the 2070s when i finaly gave up on AMD after 3 month of trying different cards and returned the "last try" Red Devil. Please review the whole product and not only the hardware because i wasted 3 month of my life for try and error with lots of frustration because i trusted reviews from you and Gamers Nexus.
I wouldn’t let GDDR6 temperature put anyone off buying this card. I have it and I can safely tell you that it is a total non-event with this card. The VRMs and Caps are rated to well over the 80-odd Celsius you see here and even the 90 plus levels, they can take up to 120-125c before they even start to suffer. You want a hot VRM? Trust me, I had a strix vega 56 and that got up to 110. Now THAT’S hot! GN’s review of later 5700xt models at noise normalised 40db steady state reveals that this card is quite alright.
Powercolor has made a 5700XT with 2 fans that doesn't have any fanzy name, it isnt red dragon or devil, just 5700xt. Its so close to refrence price its not even worth mentioning the difference. I actually think its what refrence cost when they first released, now they have dropped a bit. One thing is clear, pricing on theese cards are very different around the world, but it would one of the cheapest anywhere... I was just wondering if you had plans to look at that too.
I must have gotten lucky bc my reference 5700 XT runs (about%90 of the time) above 2ghz with the fan at %60, +35mv & the "target frequency" set to 2075mhz. Even then, the best option imo is simply stock; as it's pretty tuff to beat in terms of both performance per watt and $ per fps. Besides, OC'ing these cards doesn't give you a great ROI imo Anyway, all my games run great on my 75hz freesync monitor and look better than I've ever seen. Gears 5, Forza Horizon and Star Wars (all my favs) are just ReDonkulous on this card. Everything's great tho. Can't give it enough credit for an actual $399.00 selling price. Always nice to see MSRP 😃
@@faycalassaad6066 I retract my statement. I will not buy any of these cards. 580 or 590 will be enough for me. I know Dota 2 is not that quite demanding.
In Poland the 5700xt prices look like this: Gigabyte gaming OC = 1959zł = 450 euro = 495$ MSI gaming X = 2159zł = 500 euro = 545$ Powercolor Red devil = 2279zł = 530 euro = 575$ Sapphire nitro+ = mostly out of stock, 2450zł = 565 euro = 620$ For comparison rtx 2070 super gaming x = 2600zł = 600 euro = 650$ So gigabyte version of rx5700xt is a no brainer in my country.
Its really a battle of performance and looks as the Red Devil card in my opinion is cooler looking when some other cards are temp cooler by a long shot.
In Poland the price is even better. Reference card cost 1849 PLN ( 470 USD, including taxes, etc) Gigabyte cost just 1959 ( 497 USD, including taxes). For exemple, sapphire pulse non XT, cost 1899 😂
Sorry Steve, but testing Navi temperatures ignoring the junction temp is pretty much meaningless, since that's what dictates the boost behaviour... In other reviews, in fact, the Gaming OC showed a very large gap between edge and junction temperature (more than 20°)

You need a better monitor 😅
Best 5700 XT for stock settings (Price Vs Performance)
Also.. it can be OC up to 1980 MHz.. but don't ever OC the Memory (92c with 950 MHz OC)
Small Note:
It's runing cooler than all other models for stock, cause it's draw less voltage in general.. the opposite of big beefy Nitro+ and fancy models
thanks for that, i bought it and im waiting it from time to time!
Thank you for all your hard work! I love watching all these 5700XT - reviews since I'm about to buy one myself. I'm wondering if you're gonna test the sapphire pulse as well?
Dear Steve,
Is there any chance you guys might look into analyzing some Active UPS options? I think that's a very relevant product across the world, and a sweet spot would be 1000-1200VA models. Thank you for consideration!
I love your honesty man.
In a year it will be $350 and at that price it’s a steal
I agree, but 500$ for a 2070 super is a bigger steal ._. Nvidea dont have good prices, so why AMD will have perfects ones? Sadly thats how market works :/
FirstBits cuz they sell 10million when they could sell 50 million it will def make up for it
@@TheDarknessOfGames 7nm shortages is also a problem
FirstBits true then we need to double our miners xD
@@FIRSTEBITOS the 2070 super is not a steal at 500. This card has nearly the exact same performance and its 420. Unless you really want ray tracing there is no reason to go nvidia if you are looking for a card in this price range.
i built my first pc ever with this card. was loud at first, but i set a custom fan curve in msi afterburner.
this is probably the most reviewed graphics card in 2019
Strange how some reviewers have this as one of the coolest for the memory (GN) and then here it's one of the hottest for the memory. I don't know if this is just due to assembly variance or what. Seems like this card has a lot of potential, but sadly overclocking isn't really much of a thing with the 5700xt.
I have this card its superb . great video as always Cheers
This model is good but if I will buy a 5700XT card, then i'll choose the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT. It has better cooling and better clock speed.
If I know this card runs just as cool as quiet as other top cards. I might get it instead of Nitro+, and save €25.
I was going to buy the PowerColor Red Devil but because it wasn't available anywhere I ended up buying this one and I'm pretty happy with it.
Are you still happy? I'm about to buy it tomorrow, do you recommend it?
@@Poker96Face Hi, yes, I do recommend it as I had no issues whatsoever with the Gigabyte card and it performs as expected.

Thanks a lot for replying.
Just got one at microcenter for $400. I'm happy with it.
Good honest review 👍
Here in the UK the cheapest 5700xt is by far the Powercolor unbranded card. Couple of powercolor stickers on a plain black dual fan card and thats it. Wonder how it stacks up with these other cards and whether its cheap for a bad reason, or actually great value.
That's such a good review!! Why didn't you talk about the junction temperature though? I'd really like to know if mine is operating at a normal temperature...
Its my new Card.. arrives tomorrow - I deald this Card from a german PC Shop as "Retoure" or say "used" for 330€
Which shop?
Gaming OC is always a good choice. Gigabyte is killing it.
On amazon the card is been selling for 399.00 USD. Though saying that, the card always is out of stock as soon as Amazon gets new stock in.
The 5700xt prices here are so scuffed, I just bought this one yesterday for around 430€, most mainstream places here sell it around 450-480. But at the same time I saw the ASUS blower ver. going for 375€ at a store (now a day later they fixed it to 413€), really confusing times.
Sells for $399 at my local micro center. I guess it doesn't get any better than that :)
Hey, just some feedback. On your graphs, you should consider adding a different colour for your [OC] results (maybe sanguine orange, or red?)
The Gigabyte 5700XT mem temperature 92c , because the Thermal paste doesn't touch the memery ~ it's need change the paste thickness! 3:22
I test my MSI 5700XT mech oc (memery clock 900mhz) without thermal paste( I remove it), it can work but temperature 94c as the same as this Gigybyte 5700XT.
Micron 9JA77 D9WCW G DDR6 can work at 90c+ in 875mhz~
SAPPHIRE has always been the best AIB manufacturer for AMD GPUs

They must've had a small redesign because my Gigabyte 5700xt Gaming OC has the PCI-e plugs on the top of the card not on the end , it's my 2nd 5700xt , the 1st was a Red Dragon that died after just 3 days so I replaced it with one of these.
They did have a redesign, there's a revision 1 and revision 2 of this card
$599 boxing day deal plus extra SSD and games and Xbox membership, I couldn't be happier now haha
I saw that but unfortunately missed out. Now it's back to 749 :(
I've tryed a few 5700XT Cards ...

Sometimes I need noise from the fan to inform me whether it crash while mining. So noise can be useful.
I don't understand the prices we're seeing on these cards in Australia. Raedon 5700 XT $599 vs Gigabyte 5700 XT $769....?????
Sapphire nitro+ is like €30 more expensive. Is it a better choice?
Have you had a chance to look at the ROG Strix 5700xt? Haven't seen many reviews at all really.....
Also add that it isn't ugly af like plenty of other 5700xt's
I must have gotten lucky bc my reference 5700 XT runs (about%90 of the time) above 2ghz with the fan at %60, +35mv & the "target frequency" set to 2075mhz. Even then, the best option imo is simply stock; as it's pretty tuff to beat in terms of both performance per watt and $ per fps. Besides, OC'ing these cards doesn't give you a great ROI imo
Anyway, all my games run great on my 75hz freesync monitor and look better than I've ever seen. Gears 5, Forza Horizon and Star Wars (all my favs) are just ReDonkulous on this card. Everything's great tho. Can't give it enough credit for an actual $399.00 selling price. Always nice to see MSRP 😃
With 2 coolers blowing on the 5700 xt Nitro+(lower clocked bios avarage around 1950mhz) i have vrm temps at round 53°.
I got the rx 5500 xt from Gigabyte!dang theyre quiet!getting this model later this year!
Paid $769 AUD for mine and loving it but I also purchased mine in early September
I think I'll go with the Sapphire one.
@@faycalassaad6066 I retract my statement. I will not buy any of these cards. 580 or 590 will be enough for me. I know Dota 2 is not that quite demanding.
In Poland the 5700xt prices look like this:
Gigabyte gaming OC = 1959zł = 450 euro = 495$
MSI gaming X = 2159zł = 500 euro = 545$
Powercolor Red devil = 2279zł = 530 euro = 575$
Sapphire nitro+ = mostly out of stock, 2450zł = 565 euro = 620$
For comparison rtx 2070 super gaming x = 2600zł = 600 euro = 650$
So gigabyte version of rx5700xt is a no brainer in my country.
I picked up this card last week for 9790 New Taiwan Dollars (around 330 USD)
Its really a battle of performance and looks as the Red Devil card in my opinion is cooler looking when some other cards are temp cooler by a long shot.
In Poland the price is even better.
Reference card cost 1849 PLN ( 470 USD, including taxes, etc)
Gigabyte cost just 1959 ( 497 USD, including taxes). For exemple, sapphire pulse non XT, cost 1899 😂
From all other reviews I saw it's almost same performance has the reference card but with less noise and temperature. And exact same has pulse
That's the case for every 5700xt AIB cards
Sorry Steve, but testing Navi temperatures ignoring the junction temp is pretty much meaningless, since that's what dictates the boost behaviour...
In other reviews, in fact, the Gaming OC showed a very large gap between edge and junction temperature (more than 20°)
Yes, and it's probably due to the direct touch heatpipes that have big gaps between the pipes.
@@iamezza that's what I supposed some time ago, but there's still no deep testing about it
