I bought an ASUS reference design for US$379 , along with a Full cover GPU Bykski water block for about $60 off aliexpress ....zero regrets , this card has been FANTASTIC, it also benefitted a lot from the 5900x CPU upgrade from the original 3700x i had. Couldnt be happier with the thing,,,when i do eventually replace it ill still keep it in use on another system. Its extremely solid

    Another note, Helldivers 2 doesn't use FSR. It has it's own built-in upscaler that is significantly worse than fsr, dlss, or xess.

    • @christian50111
      @christian50111 Місяць тому +33

      That's true. I use RSR (internally it uses some version of FSR) with this game instead of the built-in upscaler and it looks much better and also it runs with higher fps. I recommend this approach for all AMD users instead of the native upscaler until they add true FSR.

    5700xt was a beast mining card that meant it's street price in the crazy days was the same as 6700xt.

    I bought a 5700 just before the coof, and i got a specific version of the card, the powercolor red dragon! the reason was because that specific model of the 5700 had the EXACT same pcb as the 5700xt, down to the same ammount of power phases. I immediately flashed the performance bios to the 5700xt bios. And that's how i got a super cheap 5700xt that i'm still rocking to this day. zero crashes, zero instability, auto overclocks to 2074mhz core clock via the adrenalin software. Since I barely play any AAA games, I am still playing everything at high settings with very high framerates. One of the last games I 100%'d was Forza Horizon 4. Medium settings at 1440p while streaming, 144 fps locked. Maybe I'll buy an upgrade on the next gen from AMD. depending on how good the 8700xt is or something.

    I got the 5700 XT back in late 2019, just a few months before the crypto boom that started in 2020. I kept it until last year when I picked up the 7900XT. I got it for $720 around July. I saw it drop to that point a few months prior, but I didn't have the spare cash at the time. I kept an eye on it so that the next time it was well under $800 I jumped on it. So I ran that card about three and a half years. Not a super long life, but considering I spend $420 on it when the 2070 non super was going for $500 and up, I think I did alright. I also did just enough mining to pay for the card and cover my power bill in the winter. Basically just ran it to help keep my apartment warm but also kinda pay for itself for the winters of '20 and '21.

      @@TheUltraMinebox Exactly why I upgrade to a 7900gre when my 5700XT bit the dust a few weeks back. *technically* it's like 30% more expensive than what I paid for the 5700XT back in 2019, but that 30% price hike is still lower than that of my grocery list compared to back then as well.
      A 7800XT or 7900GRE are now well worth the upgrade, *if* you need it. I would have kept my 5700XT for a while yet, as FSR got "good enough" to be worth the visual hit, and I was perfectly fine with getting 80-100FPS in most non-competitive games, or even around 60 if they didn't require any rapid inputs.
      Hopefully I can get 5 years out of the 7900GRE. We'll see if it gets the same performance bump with time that the 5700XT got since launch.

    • @vigilant_1934

      It's not stagnation. The 7700XT is a proper uplift over the 6700XT with 54 CUs vs. 40CUs. The 6700XT is a bit better than the 5700XT with the same amount of CUs but the biggest difference is the extra VRAM (12GB vs 8GB). You can't expect a 100% performance increase until 3 generations later. Tim did a whole video on GPUs and price to performance and what average consumers expect before upgrading. 30% increase after 1 gen, 50% increase after 2 gens and 100% price to performance increase after 3 generations and this was based on Hardware Unboxed polls. The 7700XT gives you over 60% improvement in 2 generations which is great at the midrange where performance isn't pushed as hard the high end. Either way, it's only 4.5 years since the 5700XT was released and RDNA 4 isn't out yet. Around the 5 year mark we should have an 8700XT that gives you that double performance. The 5700XT was never really supposed to be $400 (I think AMD was gonna make it $499 until Nvidia announced the Super series with lower prices) and I'm not 100% sure how much the assumed 8700XT will cost but I still expect it to be $450-$500. If it has the performance increase and 16GB of VRAM I might get it to upgrade my placeholder 6700XT. If it is the top die for RDNA 4 (which is rumored to be similar to RDNA 1 meaning no high end GPUs) than it might have an even bigger performance increase if AMD hits their targets.

      That isn't true at all. Whether something is a fully-enabled chip or not doesn't dictate its place in the product stack. A 4060 Ti uses a fully-enabled GPU, whereas the 3060 Ti didn't, yet that doesn't make it the successor to the 3070 Ti (which did). A fairer way to look at things is die size, ROPs and CUs, and the 5700 XT only has 64 ROPs and 40 CUs on a 251mm2 die, versus the 96 ROPs and 54 CUs of the 7700 XT and its 346mm2 die. They're simply not in the same class, despite the product naming. The 7600 XT would be closest to a 5700 XT in the current stack, since it also has 64 ROPs, although only 32CUs on a 204mm2 die. It's also a fully-enabled Navi 33 chip, so would meet your criteria too, though the reality is that the 5700 XT doesn't quite match anything in the current stack because there's no 40 CU equivalent. RDNA 1 was a weird generation where AMD abandoned the high end entirely, so it doesn't mesh well with the RDNA 3 stack that competes all the way up to the 4080 (Super).

      The RX 5700 XT has 251mm^2 die size as a monolith on 7nm, but the RX 7800 XT has 200mm^2 die size on 5nm at 151 Million transistors per mm^2, while the cache 4x 36mm^2 is at 50 Mt/mm^2 on 6nm, if it was all on 5nm it would be 4x 12mm^2 = 48mm^2 + 200mm^2 = 248mm^2.

    It's interesting seeing this card looked at again, especially with the rumors that AMD's next generation might not have any high end cards. I bought the 5700XT reference when it first came out, and ended up selling it during the crazy mining period where people were paying silly money for them. It was a hybrid between GCN and RDNA, which is why it was preferred over the 6000 series. It's aged really well, I can see these cards being the same as the old AMD HD 7000 series because they share the same architecture as the PS5 and XBox.

    ITs nice to see that this GPU is still a viable option for 1080p. Almost any game released before 2023 are easily playable. And there are plenty of those games out there. At that price range, this GPU is still a viable option if we dont play the latest titles.

    Dropped one of these in my nephews PC and its still a good choice (Had one myself back at launch before upgrading later) For £120 paid on the used market he now has a card that can 1080/60 at high & ultra settings on most games out there

    Thanks for this vid. I got my 5700xt Sapphire Pulse back in January 2020, right before GPU prices spiked. I'm still rocking it and it is undoubtedly the best component I purchased for my PC. It's nice to see it's still rocking nearly 5 years after its initial release.
    I'm looking to upgrade from next gen, so I'm guessing for the 8700xt or 8800xt.

    Did you try undervolting as it's supposed to be the "default" way of lowering power consumption and heat without any apparent downsides. With every new gen of cards I''m tempted to change but so far could easily resisted the temptation, one of the betterl HW purchases of mine.

Thanks Steve. How much value do you think this card has in today market

    Upgrading to a 7900 GRE Hellhound from my Red Devil 5700xt. So if the 7700 is around 60% faster, how much more is the 7900 GRE roughly?

    This has been a legendary GPU. My non-XT has some great silicon; I run it stable with a decent undervolt + overclock and it beats the XT version by about 5% in Timespy. It's still running Flight Simulator strong on 1080p ultrawide, so I'll upgrade my Ryzen 3600 first, then the GPU.

    3:39 how is the RTX 2070 so high up there? That's the vanilla RTX 2070 too that had the TU106 similar to the RTX 2060.
    Makes me wonder where my RTX 2080 would land at there.

    i still have my 5700XT so looking to upgrade now its been a fantastic card. the 7700xt vs 7800xt is the only benefit the extra VRAM ? or is there other advantages.

    • @badass6300
      @badass6300 Місяць тому +1

      The 7800 XT has more CUs(cores), so you get more performance on top of the extra VRAM. About 21% more performance than the 7700 XT.

    Bought my Red Devil back in 2019 and been considering upgrading it this year since the 5800x3d it's paired with could use some more horsepower from the GPU....but every time I look at those 600+ euro cards it would be "worth" to upgrade to I have to face the reality....that the card still works and runs EVERYTHING pretty decently so...I guess ill skip the 7000 radeon gen and delay upgrading to the next one.

    Still have a 5700XT which I picked up from a friend who had those initial driver teething issues. In my system it never complained at all.
    If it weren't for insane prices and real world concerns I'd already have a 6800XT or 7900 GRE, but waiting is rarely a bad thing when you're planning to upgrade..
