Thanks for the explanation on increasing tension as well as decreasing. I watched four videos and none covered as well as yours.
Thank you for the time you took to make this. It really helped!
Thanks a lot for a nicely done informational video.
Very helpful thank you!
If the pin gets to deep in the hole just use a magnet to pull it out of it (that's what i did and it works).
Good explanation body
Well done and understood
Very good explanation.
Helpful video. 👍 Thanks
Thank you so much! This was so helpful !
Made it easy, thanks buddy
Excellent video
Thanks 🙏 for your help
Great job thank you! 🙏
Thank you 🙏🏿
Thank you
Thanks man, needed to see that spring loaded mechanism and was able to find out how to work on an existing one without finger pinches from a quick scan through your video
Thanks
God bless brother.
can it be installed to a 3" thick door jamb?
My top of the circular hinge is flat. There is no Allen key hole. Only just the little hole on the vertical cylinder, and a bunch of little pin holes down at the bottom part of the cylinder. Any idea how to load it.
What brand is it?
Thanks for the video!
I just installed my hinge by watching your video.
In the back of the package doesn’t give clear instructions.
Glad it helped. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the video. How do you remove these type of hinges to paint the door? Do I need to unscrew the hinge from the door Jam? Thank you!!
The would be 1 option. Another option would be to get some painters tape, and simply cover the hinge with tape. The once you are done painting, remove the tape.
@homerepairhub so to be clear you cannot remove the pins on this style hinge? They don’t slide out?
@@Mrscottyboy4 correct, there is no hinge pin. It is 1 piece.
Where is the link to purchase this type of sp;rinig?
Thanks!
Do these ever need shims?
Update: WOAH! My garage door has THREE of these hinges already installed, but the previous homeowner must have removed all the pins. I notice the holes are not aligned for me to reinsert pins if I buy some though. Any ideas?
Update #2: Called a homebuilder buddy and he said installers commonly install the hinges upside down, so that's likely why my pinhole is misaligned. The Alan keys are all 3 at the bottom and not at the top. I'm going to flip the middle hinge and see if I can gently hammer it down a little if needed and see if everything is lined back up. Then flip the remaining two or just one depending how many are needing to close properly. I also will have to use a tap nail as my pins. Cut them down to size with pliers. (That's what they do on installs he said, and it stops the pin from ever fully going in.)
Finale: Left them upside down. Used a hammer to lightly tap the bottoms up to realign the holes. Cut three tap nails down to size and made myself pins that are perfect.
How do you install a door stop hinge on this type of hinge?
You don't.
The door stop replaces the pin in a standard hinge or pivots on it, these do not have a typical center pin, nor do they have an easy way to mount any kind of wedge to them which is what the pin mounted door stop is.
Any door mounted doorstop would need to be mounted directly to the door itself, or you'd need to move to a floor or wall mounted doorstop.
The best place and time to put it is when you keeps saying close the door, close the door. Well I am done so time for a loaded hinge.
How do I stop a self closing hinge from squeaking?
Grease, WD-40, or just change it out
Food Grade Sylicone keeps Lubricated for up to 6 months
One other reason...
Kids never closing the door!
Problem solved !!!
Thanks for sharing.
That's why I am here😆
Those screws on the door side are more commonly referred to as thread cutting. Self tapping usually indicates the non threaded cutter head at the tip of a screw.
