SELF-CLOSING Adjustable Spring Hinges - National Hardware Spring Hinge

We needed a self-closing hinge four our wood deck gate so we found this Adjustable Spring Hinge from National Hardware. It is adjustable so you can set it to the desired tension. A word of caution: don't adjust it too far as you might snap the spring. We added another pair to give the deck gate the tension it needed for it to close quickly and strong enough so the baby could not pull it open.

How did you decide on what size gap where you put the hinges?

I centered the gate in the opening and then tested the swing.
