I had a door that tends to hit into another door because of a small space. I was looking around for door closers, and most videos I see on UA-cam show larger ones for storm doors and businesses.
After a little bit of digging, I found a small hinge that has a built-in spring. It looks like a normal hinge for the most part, it's quiet, and very easy to install - no new holes needed! This one worked with the existing screws/holes and has the same finish as my other hinges.
What I bought: Deltana DSH35R515 Single Action Steel 3 1/2-Inch x 3 1/2-Inch x 5/8-Inch Spring Hinge. Using the referral link below will help me out! :)

If you lubed the existing hinges and the latch/plate areas it might be enough to get the door to fully close. My preferred light duty lube for indoor use is a silicone spray because it fully dries and is cleaner (i.e. it doesn't attract dirt like oil based lubes).

Great for kids and gr-kids. I installed on on garage door works fine .Think it was $8 at Lowes. Easy to install .

It may be air pressure which is preventing the door from closing fully. Opening a window or putting in a small vent might solve the problem. I've also seen in the UK, Rising Butt Hinges. The door rises slightly when pushed/pulled opened and closes by itself, using its own weight to drop.
Those are used in some restaurants and commercial store handicap bathroom stalls.

Good video. The issue in that one room is probably air pressure. Adding another spring may not help it latch. You'd have to go with a more controlled hydraulic closer to work around that.
You missed where he said he didn't want to go to the fifth hole because he didn't want the added tension.
I have 3 normal hinges on my door. I wonder can I install just 1 new door closer hinge? The cylinder rod of the door closer looks much thicker than the old hinge cylinder rod so I was wondering if the door would be aligned properly if I use 1 new door closer hinge with 2 old normal hinges. Thanks.
To be sure you get the correct hinge, remove your middle hinge and take it with you so that you can get the correct hinge. As far as the barrel of the spring loaded hinge, it sticks out into the room so it will not be a problem.

To be honest, I don't know. For me, I only used one hinge instead of having all 3 hinges be spring-loaded. With one, it doesn't latch shut. I haven't tried with 3.

Alright. So this is look clean n it will close ur door. I also have another question is there another another hinge that help keep the door open permanently and it doesn’t slam back if there wind blowing. I need a solution for my back kitchen door open without getting shit from the wind.
I haven't looked at this since I just needed a door closer - the spring hinges I've looked at doesn't have a reversed setup to keep doors open. The next best thing I've seen is a magnetic door stop

Great question! That unfortunately won't work because you won't be able to "reverse" the tension or flip the unit around.
If you switch the mounting points so that they push the door open, the door won't shut if you close it because the hinge itself doesn't have 360 degree of motion
Hi, i have door hinge, may i know if i buy a new hinge will it fit exactly the old holes position? My door frame is metal so the hinge holes are fixed, so i am looking for exact hole position like my old hinge, i wonder if every door hinge holes are at standard distance apart standard size?
Before I buy, how to know will the new door hinge will fit into the old hinge hole position? Thanks
If your door has three hinges take one off the door and take it with you to a hardware store or builder supply.
With the new hinge isn’t the distance from the edge of the hinge to the center of the pin with the spring about 1/2” more? Doesn’t that change the position of the door?
The new hinge is the same size as the old one, only the pin is bigger

Hello! I have a similar set up at my house and I have a question of what you are using for your door hinge stopper on the exterior door?? When I come inside the house, it swings open and hits my interior door (which for me is a coat closet).
I really don’t want to put any stoppers on either one of my doors, just the hinge.
They came with the house, so I'm not sure exactly where it's from. They work pretty well for the most part, and are adjustable.
I see similar looking ones in Home Depot when searching for "Hinge Pin Door Stop".

You can buy them at a hardware store or a builders supply. Or online. To install it just remove the pin from the hinge, place the door guard on top and put the pin back in. Easily done with a long nail, a hammer and a pair of pliers.

He didn't put as much tension as he could have and stated he was ok with that amount of tension. More of the hinges can be installed if necessary.

Each additional hole adds more tension to the hinge.
I needed this before I forsed my fiance to put up a door closer on a main apartment door that people that slam ALL DAY LONG! I asked it to be fixed with nothing, i put up note and asked very nicely to please not let door slam because it shakes my whole apartment and it helped but not for long. Then after weeks of the earthquake all day i had my fiance put up a door closer and it was heaven for a week and half until I seen it on floor and manager took down saying it was pulling on metal hinge on door frame. Why note fix the problem and try to do what your job is. It took 10 mins to put up and the guy lives in the same building. He took down my note too because i didn't beg him to put it up after he has done nothing to try to fix it and make a tenant at peace who has lived here for 4 years. The guy is a huge tiny turd who thinks he is the smartest little guy in room and spends more time trying not to fix things. I know just move right:)

Instead of removing the original door hinge, why not install the spring hinge underneath the original hinge
That requires taking the door down to chisel wood out to recess the new hinge. Plus it isn't necessary because the door only needs three hinges.
