LOL #shred on the piano?# believe it or not the equivalent saying to "Shredding on the Guitar" is "Tickling the Ivories" that sounds soo gay. ....... Wait, ... Oh now that makes sense 🤣 JK that saying is 100 % the same as shredding on the guitar, though its a lot older, probably coined in the mid 1900 during the growth of Jazz. Shredding term came out of the growth of Heavy Metal. Cheers!
recognizing Pedro Pascal in episode 3 as a guy from Game of Thrones and not the person we've been following the last 2 episodes is hilarious. Also, Bella Ramsey was also in Game of Thrones.
The fact that Joel and Sarah were close to ingesting foods with flour multiple times in the first episode. Biscuits, cake and pancakes and cookies... dodged them all.
Thanks 🙏 for letting me get a look at this great😃 series!!(don't have any other means to see right now) this is way better than I thought it would be... Also, dude😎 love your reactions, like when his daughter died so early on and your like "Really, WTF!?!"😅 Classic
Tess didn't let it happen. They clearly stated in the episode that the fungus share a connection. At the end the camera focuses on the fact that she is losing control by showing her hands shaking. Tess was still "trapped inside" like they mentioned in the 1968 clip. Her lighting the lighter was the last bit of fight that she had.
I think her hands were shaking due to fear, it's way too quick/early for the fungus to be taking control of her already. Fear of what is happening, what is about to happen, and fear of the end. She's letting it happen because to resist makes the fungus zombies violent, and she can't fight back while trying to light the lighter. She was only able to light the lighter because the fungus didn't view her as a threat and could calmly infect her. Powerful shit man and fucking terrifying.
@@JamesandCatsu Didn't the poster say neck/head bites took over in only like 15-20 minutes or something? She was bitten at the base of her neck, and had since bandaged up, had a convo with Joel, walked from the museum to the Firelight's base, had another convo with Joel and Ella, took time to dump all the explosives, and then wait and watch as the zombies brokeo in and sloooooowly came up to infect her again? That feels like more than 15 minutes... Maybe HER Cordyceps was already in complete control, but was a humanist 😌
@@iH82H8 Very good point. I don't think they ever tell us exactly how long it takes to "transform" other than Ellie or Tess saying "no one survives more than a few hours" or something along the lines. My thoughts are if she were so far along, would the fungus not recognize/sense that she was already well on her way to being one of them? Why waste time infecting her more? All in all, it's a show and they decided to do this so we'll never really know lol. In the video game, Tess never smooched no zombie before her end haha. So we can chalk it up to creative artistic choices!
Alex, since you asked "Which type of Zombies are scarier?" I can honestly say that the Cordyceps Zombies are scarier because when you are infected there is quite a bit of evidence to suggest that your mind is still active inside of you but the rest of your body is under the control of the Fungus. In the game you come across infected weeping alone in dark buildings incapable of ending their own lives because the fungus won't let them. At least with traditional undead zombies they kill you and your lifeless corpse stans up to kill people without the mind inside.
When they first made the game, scientists guessed that the fungus somehow infested the brain or controlled it chemically (as the Episode 1 cold open suggests). More recent studies have shown that, at least in ants, the fungus is actually present everywhere *except* the brain! The fungus grows in between and controls the muscles directly 😨So presumably the victim’s mind is completely untouched.
That's why we don't call them zombies they're not the living dead . it's an important distinction never in the game they called dead or zombies and the first episode interview he says it doesn't let you die.
Great answer! I agree with the cordyceps being scarier because killing 1 could have a bunch end up heading your way, other zombies you kill one quietly and thats it.
Zombie movies/shows usually seem pretty fictional so I've never felt real fear about it. This show is the only one that comes close to real fear for me because of the science of fungi. That intro gives me chills.
You were talking about how Frank's shower must have felt incredible. TMI moment here, but I had one of those. I spent 2 months on my back in a hospital bed with steel rods coming out of my legs. I couldn't move at all. When they finally removed the rods, I was able to wheel into a special bathroom at the hospital where yo ucould take a shower in a wheelchair and I was able to take my first shower in about 10 weeks. I cried the whole time I was in there. To actually feel the water coming down and not just being washed with a washcloth... it was one of the greatest thing ever.
29:18 I thought that too, then I realized, if she moves or tries to run, the infected would have become hostile and tried to rip her apart, she chose the "safe" way and stayed still while trying to lit the fire
The cut to the school boys hand in the first episode is to show that he was infected, his hand twitching like that is one of the first symptoms, it's just to reinforce the idea that It began in more built up populated areas 👍
Indeed it is. But it probably began at the same time, in lots of different places. We know it spread through some hugely popular grain product, and/or products that had grain in them (from the factory in Indonesia). It would all depend on who got those products in their shelves first. Which probably was multiple places across the world, at more or less the same time.
Bro I am CRYING laughing at you not recognizing Joel. 😂😂😂 OMG I’ve been having a tough week mentally and wow that made me laugh hysterically I needed that. Thank you Alex another great video
33:20 yes!!, you're the first reaction I've seen to pull this up. I think it's very clever the writers decided for Joel to specifically say that cordyceps mutated to sugar and flour, being that on the first episode Sarah decided to not go for the pancakes and Joel had his coffee sugarless, so cool
Joel also forgets to get a cake, and Sarah never ate any of the cookies she made with the neighbors. Literally dodging it at every turn without even realizing.
Badd Medicine worked it all out. Their reactions are great although I think The Oak is on the spectrum because he really comes out of left field like my son with Asperger's does.
Favorite reaction lines (a tie), "Shake it off? Who do you think you are, Taylor Swift? You look more like Trailer Swift," and "Damn, we got radishes!" That just cracked me up. Favorite unspoken reaction (a 3-way tie) - during Tess's French kiss from hell, when Ellie carved into the zombie's head, and when Frank kissed Bill. Once again, your reactions just cracked me up.
The actor who plays Joel is Pedro Pascal. He was in Game of Thrones and also in the Mandalorian as the Mandalorian, Din Djarin. The girl was in the Game of Thrones as the little bear, I think that’s what they called her. She’s the first one who bowed before John Snow as the King Of The North. And was braver than many men on that show. That was a few years ago when she was about 10. I love her fighting spirit in both shows.
The car scene the scene with him and his daughter and the watch and when his daughter got shot r pretty much 1 to 1 with the game. Marleen is actually played by the original motion capture and voice actress for the game.
I don't know if it's been confirmed by the directors but the theory I read is that Bill went out in the middle of the street with no cover during the raid because he didn't want any bullets to fly near the house and the windows in case it hit Frank, it still doesn't explain why he wouldn't take cover on the house across the street but it's something.
If you think about it though he had everything under control until he got worried about Frank being outside. He had faith in his aim and his traps, and honestly he was right. If Frank had either stayed asleep or in the house he wouldn’t have gotten shot
@@trinityblais7571 True but that was never gonna happen lol imagine sleeping through that. You’re right but I also don’t blame Frank at all if you looked out and saw your partner out exposed in the street in that situation you’d probably freak out too lol
Small detail I noticed was Tommy immediately knowing Sarah’s wound wasn’t treatable without a hospital. His hopelessness the moment he sees the gut wound is really good.
They are not zombies actually, but infected. The guy at the beginning said that the fungi doesn't let the people die, they keep them alive, they just use the bodies like puppets or marionettes, controlling the mind. I've read that on the set the word "zombie" was banned, because they are not the same :D
In the walking dead it was a virus that affected the brain and there was no cure for it. Once you were bitten, that was it. You died after a horrible bout of a fever and disease type symptoms and you reawakened as a zombie just wanting to eat people and animals. The only way was for someone to shoot you or stab you in the brain because that’s where the virus was.
@@kimwatchesstuffbut the difference is those are actually zombies. these arent, theyre people turned monster from fungus controlling their mind. obviously they still operate in a similar fashion but a key difference is you can kill these infected without having to destroy the brain. few shots to the chest will still get it done
Just to clarify, the fungus doesn’t kill and reanimate humans. It doesn’t kill them at all. It mind controls people, feeding off them. The people are still alive inside with no control. Which is way worse
1- You don't need to watch The Walking Dead. 2- TLOU is not about zombies. 3- This video was the best content I've watched from folks unfamiliar with the story. Looking forward to seeing more of these!
Hey Alex, incase you didn't notice, Ellie is Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and Joel is Oberyn Martel in Game of Thrones as well. (Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal)
Yeah... Sara. 😭 I played the game so I knew what was going to happen to her. I spent most of that first episode thinking how devastating her death would be for new viewers with how much of the episode developed her character and the audience's empathy for her. But, it does help you understand Joel's absolute devastation over loosing her though the rest of the story.
In a situation like this, where Bill loots a bunch of the stores, he is fairly ahead of the game on a knowledge level. Most people think in terms of finding food, water, shelter, etc.... but I say libraries would be just as important to hit up if you can find one. Knowledge on how to prepare and store food without refrigeration, how to purify water, and a ton of other life skills the average person may not have. I don't know about anyone else, but instructional materials like this would be high on my list of necessities for long term survival.
You could just do cub scouts.... I can do 99% of that off the top of my head from 20 years ago. Fire, bow, water, shelter, etc. That and home ec. Helps if you can make your own clothing repairs.
Yep, that is brilliant. I actually just checked out a couple of books from my library called "Back to Basics: A Complete Guide on Traditional Skills" and another called "The Essential Guide to Self-sufficient Living" ... Unrelated to the apocalypse but yeah they would be good ones to have lol 😂 They cover gardening, raising livestock, canning and fermenting, grafting trees, building furniture, butchering animals, and even how to select land and build a log cabin 😂 I don't think they tell you how to turn on and maintain a power grid or sewage system... But otherwise it's basically everything Bill would need to know, just from a couple of books
"I wonder if we're going to get her backstory; I wonder what happened to her mom...." Ohhh, maaaaaan..... 😬🥺😭 Tess didn't "let" the Infected guy do anything. The reason Tess' hand shook so badly, and she struggled so much with the lighter, is that the fungus was spreading inside of her. The cordyceps was already mostly in control of Tess, and it had no reason to want to avoid an additional cluster of fungus inside of her -- quite the contrary. Geting that lighter lit was the last thing Tess had any control over; it was, *literally* , her last act in control of her own body. Episode 3 is sad, but also beautiful. Bill and Frank won the apocalypse -- they spent their lives together, and died on their own terms.
Someone once asked me why I'm not afraid when dogs bark towards the darkness, I told them I don't get scared when dogs bark, but I do get concerned when I hear them whimper.
One of the things that makes the death even sadder in the game is that the soldier tries to reason with his boss on the comms because he doesn't want to kill the girl. But it obviously doesn't work, and he has to shoot her anyways.
A bit late for this comment, but I watched this episode with friends for the first time and I didn’t know what was going to happen. I never cried this hard before lol. Well, yeah, maybe I did in the end of The Walking Dead. And when playing Last of Us 2 and that moment with golf club happened. But anyways, it was embarrassing 😅
Every reaction I have watched someone always says Joel should close the door when he's running with sara, but he literally kicked it in, closing it would do nothing because there is no way to secure it now
It was the flour. On outbreak day, which was also Joel’s birthday, and the day of Sarah’s death(one hell of a birthday). They managed to avoid pancakes, biscuits, cookies, AND birthday cake.
They somehow managed to recreate the truck driving POV shot from the back of the seat in EP1 so wonderfully it's crazy! Also loving the new editing style of the videos, with the episode/movie covering the whole screen and your reaction to it popping in between.
Fun easter egg, in episode 1 Joel and his daughter don't have pancakes, don't eat the biscuits, forget to grab the cake, don't eat the cookies. Infection spread to grains and people likely got infected from eating those grains.
Oh Alex, I can't even with you not recognizing Joel and Tess with Bill and Frank 😂Like, not even with the letter did you stop and go "OH, how did I not GET that, it makes so much sense now!" or anything 😂🤣😂
a very underrated detail about both the game and shows truck scene with the people on the road is Joel is assumed to be a vet of Afgan and it was common practice there for combatants to use people on the side of the road looking for aid to stop the convoy to ambush. probably a similar mindset here, if you stop you have to sort out the logistics leaving you a sitting duck for the infected. every second counts, especially in situations like that
Just commit to season 1 of Walking Dead. It was beautifully shot and, at the time, was some of the first movie-worthy story telling I had seen made for TV. The framing of shots was reminiscent of the graphic novels yet the acting was so realistic and the details of the sets kept it real. The fungus sick are way faster than zombies and the hive mind makes them more menacing.
Yeah, first episode is amazing, and the first season as a whole is great. Then they fired like all the writers and the show runner, and the show got rough for the next few season. And if it ever got good again, I wouldn’t know, cuz I fell off in like season 4 or 5 😂
Tlou isnt a zombie show neither its a zombie world Zombies are undeads where their brain have the sole instinct and that is to eat Tlou infected are still alive but controlled by a fungus with a hive mind. It turn you basically into an insect. YOu even can listen to people speaking and refusing to attack human since they so fresh infected they still fighting vs the fungus even though he has the control. Tlou are not zombies.
"Bomb." "That doesn't seem like the best idea." It actually was the only one that had a chance of working. They already explained that the infection is very fast, and spreads quickly. It also started in a very large mill that ships internationally, and was almost confirmed by the professor that it's foodborne as well, and 14 other (possibly already infected) employees unaccounted for. Bombing a city of 9 million is extreme, but when its the only chance you have at the moment to potentially save 7 BILLION, it's all you can do. Even then she knew it was a long shot still because they didn't know how long it took to go from infection to symptoms, just that they started a few days ago, and that leaves an indeterminate window of shipping tainted product worldwide.
Also just to note they're not zombies since zombies are animated death. These infected die if the body is killed but the fungus remains active until the system itself dies
29:40 You've probably read this a couple hundred times by now, so I'll keep this short. Tess couldn't stop what was going to happen. Did you see the poster on the wall of the Boston QZ hospital? We had two posters, one for showing the timetable for full Cordyceps infection and another explaining the symptoms. Timetable for full Cordyceps infection: -bites to the neck, head and face: 5 to 15 minutes -bites to the torso, shoulder, arm and hand: 2 to 8 hours -bites to the leg and foot: 12 to 24 hours Symptoms: -coughing -slurred speech -muscle spasms -mood change We know from the epidemiologist from the cold open that Cordyceps hijack the host's body and it does this by cutting the brain off from control. Cordyceps have a parasitic relationship with its host--the host is kept alive, a prisoner locked away in the brain of a body they no longer have control over. They see, hear, smell and taste everything they do. The Infected are helpless to stop the horrors committed by their hands, and they're forced to watch/hear everything their bodies do. They never feed since the Cordyceps have all that they inside the hosts body--Cordyceps feed on their hosts body, so it probably goes without saying that large hosts can go the distance. Anyway, back to Tess, she had been bitten on collarbone, so the journey to the brain was short and we could already see that she was experience muscle spasms--she likely only had minutes before she was about to turn. Many online assumed she had a bad lighter, but I think she had a hard time flicking her lighter because of her muscle spasms. Tess had to make a choice: use her final moments as herself to save her family or fight the Stalker off (the name of this type of infected) only to later fall in line seconds later and join the rest hunt down the last of her family. Tess wasn't going to do that. She wanted to protect Joel! If it meant being violated by a Stalker, well, that's what she was going to let happen. She focused all of her remaining strength to her hand and finally flicked her lighter correctly, blowing up the museum. And what do you know, Tess saved herself and family in one move. To answer one of your questions early on, you would have been an infected in no time! Your food choices would have done you in ='( 30:00 This isn't a zombie show. Zombies are defined as reanimated corpses. That's not what's happening here in the Last of Us. Cordyceps require a living host, as we saw with the woman on the autopsy table, a dead body is an immobile one. The infected are alive, prisoners in their own bodies ='( 32:05 she found a box of tampons. I imagine that's worth more than gold! 38:40 Ummm, awkward. 41:58 Because that's what you do when you have something to lose. Bill couldn't lose Frank, so he made himself a target and not the house. Still, had Bill taken higher ground like the roof of a neighbor's house, he probably would have been fine too, but he likely didn't have time for that. He had to keep the raiders distracted while his traps warmed up.
I'm so glad that the show has done the games justice because it's not only one of the best games ever made but also one of the best stories of all time I love to see the show also has more people playing the game.
I love the zombie genre. It is the only movie/show that regularly gives me nightmares. But it's not the zombies that are interesting to me. It's what happens to normal people in extreme circumstances. The timid person may end up being a complete badass (like Carol in TWD), or the stand-up guy may end up being a crazy, unhinged monster (like Shane in TWD).
It’s a show about love and purpose. The infected are just part of that universe. Your comments are the best dude. So funny. Can’t wait for the next episodes reaction.
This show is leads creepier than walking dead. It's so much more grounded and feels so much more realistic, especially after the last 3 years. Not to mention, the sound design is absolutely incredible. During the clicker scene (what they call the blind "zombies") I couldn't help but hold my breath because I felt fully immerged into the show. Also the game is definitely worth playing, but you should do it after you finish the first season
@moth_goth Nothing exactly comes to mind honestly. The beginning seasons were really good but gore and jumpscares don't really affect me like sounds do. Like the scenes in Last of Us with the clickers I've watched multiple times and every time I found myself holding my breath. But thats just my personal preference honestly.
Cordyceps, the Fungi that inspired this game is a real thing that is mostly known for infecting ants and other bugs, it does exactly what the scientist at the start of episode 1 says
I'll never not watch a reaction to Bill and Frank's episode, despite it wrecking me each time and making me ugly cry every time lol. And I absolutely do not trust anyone who doesn't have some sort of emotional response to it lol
Recently, there has been some video game adaptations that have been soooooo good. I would recommend watching Arcane. It is animated but it is beautiful and an intriguing story. It isn't meant for kids though. It is adapted from material in League of Legends. So far, it is my favorite video game adaptation ever. It beats TLoU for right now.
You should definitely react to The Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal (Joel) is also the lead in that. If you thought his nonverbal acting was amazing. He wears a mask the whole time and still gets the emotion across. You’d love it! No prior Star Wars knowledge needed either really.
Continuing through and had another thought. I don’t think you need to react to this, although it would be fun to watch. You should watch Parks and Rec. Nick Offerman (Bill) gives a legendary performance as Ron Swanson. Great end of night show to watch an episode or 2 to wind down. Great reaction so far!
Love your reactions. Sub’d. However you cut out a very important part of episode 3. The letter to Joel is so deep and meaningful. That needs to be read completely. The letter is the entire reason for this episode. A reason to live in this horrible world and “God help any MFR that gets in our way!”
Tess didn't let the men kiss her, she gets infected to a point of stage where the fungi causes the inability to fully control the motor functions of the body
That opening scene really scared me. Talking about how global warmth could alter the food chain of the “zombie fungus” which exists in real life, meaning they could infect humans and we becoming zombies.. that really scares me
I don't consider these to be zombies but there are some similarities. That being said, the infected in this show are sooo much scarier than the zombies in the walking dead. Like a lot scarier!!
For those not in the know, the infected have a whole life cycle that they follow: Runners - Recently infected → Stalker - infected for 2 weeks to a year → Clicker - one year ↴ Bloater - Several Years [Unspecified] → Shambler - Several Years [Unspecified] Every stage has physical traits, as well as different behaviors, so it's easier to tell apart: Runners - Looks human, intense speed, sluggish attacks, and a tendency to attack in hoards Stalkers - Stalks and hides from prey in the dark, attacks at opportune moments, attaches to walls to wait for prey to appear [one that kissed Tess] Clickers- Fungus has spread all across the body, fungus growth has blinded them, uses echolocation to find prey, enhanced strength (Skipping the Bloater and Shambler stages since they work differently in the show then in game)
You should definitely play the game. The show is a very faithful adaptation, but there are some difference in terms of some little changes to events, slight characterizations and, obviously, the game has a lot more action to keep things engaging as a video game. Both are incredible in their own ways, and even if you experience one, there are still surprises waiting you in the other
Yep, Alex, when you finish this season, you should DEFINITELY do a 'TLOU' game stream! I'd love to see that! I haven't played it since the original came out in 2013, on the PS3!! I considered buying the new version, & play it after season 1, but It'd be just a cool to watch you play it! Let's GO!!! 🤘🤪
Coming from someone who played the game and has watched a lot of zombie movies. These are thre scariest “zombies”. Technically they are not dead so they are not rotten, the fungus fixes all of their physical problems so they will always be fast, and they work in groups.
Let me say this now so you know going forward. The Walking Dead is about the "WALKING DEAD". The Last of Us is about the last of "US". This is basically just my soapbox speech indicating that one of these shows is about zombies (The Walking Dead), and the other is about the people (The Last of Us). Not to mention, the "zombies" in the last of us aren't dead. Cordyceps keeps the hosts body alive. But glad you're enjoying it! Also, I can't believe you called our girl Tess "Trailer Swift". Lol
The whole point of the title "the Walking Dead" is that (spoilers for S1) everyone is already infected . The characters *are* the Walking Dead, in the " dead man walking" to execution sense. So it is also about "us". Both titles are meant to indicate the ultimate hopelessness of the situation.
Great reaction. Episode 3 is a masterpiece! I was in the hospital for 2 months with only a wash cloth bath. Once home and strong enough....that shower....there are no words to describe it. Even now, a few years later I tear up in the shower at the joy and relief of warm water on my back. Love your reviews!
I wasn't sure at first but yeah I enjoyed your reaction. You should have spotted Pedro Pascal at the tea party though. lol too funny. I think that ep. 3 is one of the best things I've seen in many years either on TV or at the cinema. Truly great film making.
The Walking Dead is a great show but it get‘s really good around Season 3 and 4 imo, many will probably disagree with my opinion but that‘s totally okay for me.
The slow zoom in on the doctor at the start, the part she is given tea and explaining the situation, creates such a good intensity PS. Don't bother with TWD, 3 episodes of this is already better than 11 seasons of TWD
@@angelo423 He is right though. Some episodes of TWD are pretty good, but in general the show is a big mess. Just read the comic, it is way better. Edit: I am not someone who was a fan of the comic and then unhappy with the adaptation btw. I only read the comic at some point because I was unhappy with the show declining so much and wanted to check out the source material... and after reading the comic was like "How can you fuck that up so much?"
I don't think a lot of people realize how big of a statement to bomb the city was either... The greater Jakarta area consists of roughly 45 million people.
IMO the walking dead is great... up to a point. I think like the first 4 to 5 seasons are REALLY good.. but after a point.. it was just too much of a good thing and started to get a bit bland.. just my opinion
TWD kinda comes and goes in quality, the first season is goated, season 2 has grown on me over the years, and from there on it goes from great to bad to mid to great and so on
Episode 3 is a phenomenal episode and I believe both actors and this episode will be nominated for all kinds of awards next year. They were the ones that really got to live. I was a big fan of Walking Dead. The Whisperers were freaky especially at first. It has characters you can relate to more and no one is really safe. Some of the characters deaths really are awful. It has more social aspects and how different people become leaders. Some seasons weren't as good as others but they come up with really creative ways to kill the zombies.

*Saddest.
Also she was trying to make as little noise/direct confrontation as possible. The one thing that mattered for her at that point was the lighter.

Came here to say this, you said it better. This is the right answer.
What about resident evil (movies) zombies? In one of those they gave a zombie drugs and it started remembering stuff and somewhat acting human.
The games even scarier
I know what you mean, but we have nothing to worry about when it comes to “zombies”
This show is like "i'm gonna make you cry in the first 10 minutes and then I'm going to make you cry some more".

The whole bit of Alex not recognizing Joel is the funniest thing I've seen in ages. I really hope he aknowledges his mistake next reaction 🤣

That broke my brain a little bit
Woooaaahh I totally didn't pick up on that! I twitch my wrists and ankles all the time if they're idle.

One of the rare instances of a TV adaptation of a game done right. I'm a huge fan of the game franchise, so I'm glad they did it justice.

Another reaction I watched said “oh yeah those shit raisin cookies sarah didn’t want” their words exactly.
Badd Medicine worked it all out. Their reactions are great although I think The Oak is on the spectrum because he really comes out of left field like my son with Asperger's does.
@@bethcushway458 okay that's kinda ridiculous to assume The Oak is on the spectrum. Why are you diagnosing him in UA-cam comments, the fuck?
Neither of them ate the biscuits offered by the neighbor either. So many times they could have been infected and avoided it. Brilliant writing.
Favorite reaction lines (a tie), "Shake it off? Who do you think you are, Taylor Swift? You look more like Trailer Swift," and "Damn, we got radishes!" That just cracked me up.

I told my husband while watching this show that i was gonna legit start stock piling tampons for the end of the world. Hahaha
When you didn't recognized Joel with Bill and screamed "the dude from game of thrones!" I swear I started laughing and now I'm tears
As prepared as he was, I was surprised that he hadn't built a crow's nest or whatever.

I love watching new people go from being goofy and casual to freaking out and getting invested. Welcome to the last of us.
They are not zombies actually, but infected. The guy at the beginning said that the fungi doesn't let the people die, they keep them alive, they just use the bodies like puppets or marionettes, controlling the mind. I've read that on the set the word "zombie" was banned, because they are not the same :D
Yup. That's why in the game you can hear some of them crying or in pain
And you ate it up, they don't use the word zombie because it's silly.
Same with walking dead they never used the word zombie.
45:20 i have to admit this is hilarious. i wish i was in the room when that realization hit 🤣😂🤣😂
Just to clarify, the fungus doesn’t kill and reanimate humans. It doesn’t kill them at all. It mind controls people, feeding off them. The people are still alive inside with no control. Which is way worse
Which is why the game never called them zombies, but infected.

This was the first game that ever had me in tears.

Tess didn't "let" the Infected guy do anything.
Yeah I got that from this too
"His non verbal acting is on point" 100%💥 Pedro Pascal is amazing!!
I bawled during the finale of episode 3. Just, full-on ugly crying. Haven't cried like that since 'Dear, Billy'.
Every reaction I have watched someone always says Joel should close the door when he's running with sara, but he literally kicked it in, closing it would do nothing because there is no way to secure it now
Every reactor says that but I’m thinking there is no time. He just needs to run
It was the flour. On outbreak day, which was also Joel’s birthday, and the day of Sarah’s death(one hell of a birthday). They managed to avoid pancakes, biscuits, cookies, AND birthday cake.
I love the way you jump at things. You can tell it's 100% genuine.😂
They somehow managed to recreate the truck driving POV shot from the back of the seat in EP1 so wonderfully it's crazy!
Also loving the new editing style of the videos, with the episode/movie covering the whole screen and your reaction to it popping in between.

😂😂😂 welcome to neil druckmann writing 👍🏼🙂
Fun easter egg, in episode 1 Joel and his daughter don't have pancakes, don't eat the biscuits, forget to grab the cake, don't eat the cookies. Infection spread to grains and people likely got infected from eating those grains.
Oh Alex, I can't even with you not recognizing Joel and Tess with Bill and Frank 😂Like, not even with the letter did you stop and go "OH, how did I not GET that, it makes so much sense now!" or anything 😂🤣😂
Wait for episode 5 and you definitely won’t need to ask which zombies are scarier 💀
a very underrated detail about both the game and shows truck scene with the people on the road is Joel is assumed to be a vet of Afgan and it was common practice there for combatants to use people on the side of the road looking for aid to stop the convoy to ambush. probably a similar mindset here, if you stop you have to sort out the logistics leaving you a sitting duck for the infected. every second counts, especially in situations like that
Just commit to season 1 of Walking Dead.
It’s such a good show! Great writing, acting, production, everything.
I think that world war z has the worst zombies. Speed kills and they still have their other senses.
Yeah that first season (and 2nd and part of 3rd tbh) were something special
@@craiglortie8483 But the book is legit the best zombie book ever. (Talk about bad adaptations.)
Yeah, first episode is amazing, and the first season as a whole is great. Then they fired like all the writers and the show runner, and the show got rough for the next few season. And if it ever got good again, I wouldn’t know, cuz I fell off in like season 4 or 5 😂
The best part about this Zombie show, is that it really isn't a zombie show. The story just happens to be in a world with zombies.
Tlou isnt a zombie show neither its a zombie world
Zombies are undeads where their brain have the sole instinct and that is to eat
Tlou infected are still alive but controlled by a fungus with a hive mind.
It turn you basically into an insect.
YOu even can listen to people speaking and refusing to attack human since they so fresh infected they still fighting vs the fungus even though he has the control.
Tlou are not zombies.
Episode 3 of TLOU is the single greatest episode of television ever, also Part 2 is the greatest game ever made
Nope
"Bomb."
"That doesn't seem like the best idea."
It actually was the only one that had a chance of working.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 In his defense most people call them zombies.
Timetable for full Cordyceps infection:
-bites to the neck, head and face: 5 to 15 minutes
-bites to the torso, shoulder, arm and hand: 2 to 8 hours
-bites to the leg and foot: 12 to 24 hours
Symptoms:
-coughing
-slurred speech
-muscle spasms
-mood change
We know from the epidemiologist from the cold open that Cordyceps hijack the host's body and it does this by cutting the brain off from control.
Your food choices would have done you in ='(
30:00 This isn't a zombie show. Zombies are defined as reanimated corpses. That's not what's happening here in the Last of Us. Cordyceps require a living host, as we saw with the woman on the autopsy table, a dead body is an immobile one. The infected are alive, prisoners in their own bodies ='(
32:05 she found a box of tampons.

I have to say, as a first time viewer to your channel, the cut to the jumpscares had me howling. That was great

Arcane doesnt bring out the human emotions like The Last of Us does for me so I beg to differ. But Arcane is GREAT. Each their own!

“oH hE WAs In GamE Of tHRonEs” is my new all time favorite Alex quote
That opening scene really scared me. Talking about how global warmth could alter the food chain of the “zombie fungus” which exists in real life, meaning they could infect humans and we becoming zombies.. that really scares me
@DFaking yes apparently it’s scientifically possible if their would ever be a big increase in global warmth, thus some organisms would have to adapt.

I don't consider these to be zombies but there are some similarities. That being said, the infected in this show are sooo much scarier than the zombies in the walking dead. Like a lot scarier!!
Episode 3 had me balling. Absolutely loved the oh hes in game of thrones lol
Surprised you didn't notice Ellie was also Lady Lyanna Mormont (Little Bear) from GoT
For those not in the know, the infected have a whole life cycle that they follow:
Runners - Recently infected → Stalker - infected for 2 weeks to a year → Clicker - one year ↴
Bloater - Several Years [Unspecified] → Shambler - Several Years [Unspecified]
Every stage has physical traits, as well as different behaviors, so it's easier to tell apart:
Runners - Looks human, intense speed, sluggish attacks, and a tendency to attack in hoards
Stalkers - Stalks and hides from prey in the dark, attacks at opportune moments, attaches to walls to wait for prey to appear [one that kissed Tess]
Clickers- Fungus has spread all across the body, fungus growth has blinded them, uses echolocation to find prey, enhanced strength
(Skipping the Bloater and Shambler stages since they work differently in the show then in game)

BRO I DROPPED EVERYTHING WHEN I SAW YOU POSYED THIS. my favorite music reactor checking out my favorite show at the moment? HELL YEA
29:20, she kinda had no choice, the cordyceps was already trying to stop her from blowing up the place.
3rd episode is definitely my favorite. Nick Offerman never disappoints!

TWD kinda comes and goes in quality, the first season is goated, season 2 has grown on me over the years, and from there on it goes from great to bad to mid to great and so on
"Has there ever been a videogame, that inspired a TV show or movie?" What kinda question is that?...
You streaming the game would be pretty awesome. And yes it a very good show indeed
