I tried a vegan cheesecake for the first time the other day that made me think about changing my diet. It was SO delicious I couldn't believe it, plus the amazing feeling of enjoying a dessert that didn't required to harm an animal.
This is the best vegan cheesecake I have tried....ever!! Thank you!! Much lighter than the usual cashew based cakes. Just thought I should let you know that when not using the Trident brand of coconut cream it doesn't set very well and needs extra cashews to achieve the right consistency. WIth the Trident coconut cream however it turns out absolutely perfect as it is :) Thought I would mention this in case someone else has this problem...
If you're from the UK you can actually still use digestive biscuits as a cheesecake base. Just buy supermarket own brand ones as they usually dont have milk powder. Plus they're always way cheaper than Mcvities.
+simply.s Co-op and Waitrose diegestives are sfv at the moment, but supermarkets change their own-brand ingredients quite frequently, so you must always check.
Fabulous recipe! Just made it today! I had to improvise for the coconut cream. I used coconut milk powder with a little water until it had the right consistency. It came out great. Love, love, love it! Thank you for sharing.
Wow what a great no-bake cheesecake!! Regular cheesecakes are soooooooo HARD to make - without cracking the middle, burning the base, all that jazz - this sounds right up my alley! Even though I'm not vegan, I could see myself giving this one a go! Thanks
Thanks so much for the recipe! Unfortunately the cashew creamy base didn't solidify for me and when I unclipped the tin... The whole thing collapsed and went all over the counter :-( Don't understand why it happened - I left the cake in the freezer for two hours then in the fridge overnight. I watched the video again twice and checked every step... I definitely used coconut cream and not milk, same quantities in your recipe. Shall I add a bit of agar agar in the creamy base next time? Would that help it solidify? P.S. The cake is delicious. I am having it as a kind of layered yoghurt and it tastes great! I just need to get the consistency right next time!
Cracking The Nutshell it happened the exact same thing to me. I dont think these quantities are accurate. Ill try to do it again with less coconut cream and more cashews...
are you sure that you were *soaking* the cashew-nuts? being the only-reason I can think of why it wouldnot work-out as it should w/out having tried to make this one my self, yet.
I already made it multiple times and it taste absolutely delicious!! Even my non vegan friends love it. Thank you so much for sharing. My favorite vegan dessert
This looks delicious. Cheescake is one of my favourite desserts and I've recently switched to not eating meat or dairy so I'll have to give this a try!
Oh my dear how wonderful that I found you! Your videos are sooo great and the recipes so easy to follow! Thank you so much for that! Greetings to you and whole New Zealand, I miss you!
Wow, such a great recipe. Before I only knew vegan cheesecake with soy. But I can't stomach soy too well. So I tried it today in a small cup. Now it's in the fridge, but I'm sure, it will be delicious.
Hi Ela, what a great video, looks soo delicious! I don't use oil in any cooking/baking, do you have any idea if I could replace the oil with water or anything else?
This is a lovely recipe! I love your channel -- beautiful use of pure ingredients to make what seem to be super tasty desserts. If you're ever in Los Angeles, I'd love to collaborate! cheers x Bubble Child
No Coconut cream in my area either? We have Coconut Milk in a can. Can we refrigerate the can and scoop out the cream from the top? If so, how many cans would we need to be equivalent to the amount of cream you used in the recipe? I really want to try this! :-)
Vegan cheesecakes can be very expensive to buy, so this is great for special occasions when you want to make something to impress those who have never tried vegan cheesecake.
That looks sooo good and very inexpensive like you said! I'd love to see a video on a vegan cake, I've been on the hunt for an inexpensive version for my son's birthday coming up in a few months. :)
This looks delicious! If you have some really sweet, fresh berries, could you leave out the sugar from that part? I have just decided to go sugar-cold to stop my addiction to the stuff xD
I was never good at desserts but this time I gave it a go, everything seemed to be going well until my cashew/coconut cream cheese got lumpy, no matter how long I processed it the lumps didn't go away. I soaked the cashew nuts for 2 days, what could have gone wrong?
you can use any non dairy milk, but you have to add extra cashews to get the right consistency or it won't set. In the crumb you could use any vegan butter
Looks so delicious 😻 Decited to do this for my moms birthday, and i'm wondering, if i'd skip the agar agar powder will that effect the cake negatively?
you could try with chia seeds + water to thicken the filling, though Idk what would happen after you freeze it.. or u could just leave it like jam-ish instead of freezing it.
It looks like it would be ok to try., it is after all just simple foods... but its not a cheese cake..its a creamed raw cashew dessert topped with gelled berries
Thank you! Someone finally said it!!! I can't understand why some Vegans call their vegan alternatives something they are NOT. Why try to pass something off as "meat" or "cheese" etc,,, as if ashamed to be Vegan. Simply say what it is and be damn proud of it!
I'm gonna make this; I"ll try it with berry's first, but then I'm going to try it with Meyer lemon's. I hope the acidity of the lemon's won't sabotage the consistency of the fruit purée. Maybe I should use more agar. Thoughts, anyone?
What blender do you use? Im trying to find a blender that blends as well as the Vitamix but since i live in Australia, i can only get the Vitamix online and its way too expensive.
I have made a vegan cheese cake I used a vegan cream cheese it was good but it was just a little more expensive but I can't make this one since it has nuts in it i am allergic.
What can be used to substitute the agar agar powder? I want to make this tonight for tomorrow's thanksgiving and cannot find Agar powder anywhere :( I hope someone can help me out asap
I love your recipes x3 My mom did one that was not vegan. She then try to make a vegan one but not successfully xD When I return home I'm gonna make this :) Keep the good work :*
i am totally making this.
i have missed cheesecake so much.
thank you for this.
I tried a vegan cheesecake for the first time the other day that made me think about changing my diet. It was SO delicious I couldn't believe it, plus the amazing feeling of enjoying a dessert that didn't required to harm an animal.

You could actually also your oreo crumbs mixed with vegan butter for the crust part :)
If you're from the UK you can actually still use digestive biscuits as a cheesecake base. Just buy supermarket own brand ones as they usually dont have milk powder. Plus they're always way cheaper than Mcvities.
she's from New Zealand
DGD4Landy I commented for any British viewers
+simply.s Co-op and Waitrose diegestives are sfv at the moment, but supermarkets change their own-brand ingredients quite frequently, so you must always check.
+simply.s We have those here in NZ too :)
+simply.s oats and almond meal are way healthier than processed wheat biscuits though. Depends if people want to eat clean with it too
Excuse my profanity, but that cake looks FUCKING delicious!
Excuse my profanity, but FUCK YEAH TO VEGAN CHEESECAKE

Fabulous recipe!
Just made it today!
I had to improvise for the coconut cream.
I used coconut milk powder with a little water until it had the right consistency. It came out great.
Love, love, love it!
Thank you for sharing.
You have the most beautiful speaking voice and accent. It's so soothing.
This looks amazing! And the fact that no dairy was used makes it a 100 times more better.
Wow what a great no-bake cheesecake!! Regular cheesecakes are soooooooo HARD to make - without cracking the middle, burning the base, all that jazz - this sounds right up my alley! Even though I'm not vegan, I could see myself giving this one a go! Thanks
This looks so delicious Ela! Looove how creamy and rich non-dairy cheesecakes can get, full of nutrients from cashews and coconut and raw ingredients.
Delicious!! I am definitely going to make this this weekend. Thank you for this recipe
This looks absolutely DIVINE! I definitely will be trying this soon!
Thanks so much for the recipe! Unfortunately the cashew creamy base didn't solidify for me and when I unclipped the tin... Cracking The Nutshell it happened the exact same thing to me. I dont think these quantities are accurate. Ill try to do it again with less coconut cream and more cashews...
Hi Laura - well, at least we've established that something is not right...! Let me know how it turns up :-)
are you sure that you were *soaking* the cashew-nuts? being the only-reason I can think of why it wouldnot work-out as it should w/out having tried to make this one my self, yet.
Yes, I soaked the cashews... Could be the coconut cream (might have different consistency in different countries? I am in the UK)
I would just put agar in the filling as well to make it more firm
Tried it and was delicious! For the creamy part, I used chia seed powder to firm it up more and the result was great! 👌 thanks for sharing recipes
Looks delicious, I'm going to have to try it, thanks for sharing!

What is your best substitute for Cashews? Love the recipe, but I'm having problems with cashews.
No Coconut cream in my area either? We have Coconut Milk in a can. Can we refrigerate the can and scoop out the cream from the top? If so, how many cans would we need to be equivalent to the amount of cream you used in the recipe? I really want to try this! :-)

Hi Ela,
Could you use corn starch instead of the agar agar powder?
Emma
Vegan cheesecakes can be very expensive to buy, so this is great for special occasions when you want to make something to impress those who have never tried vegan cheesecake.

No theyre different

arrow root is a great binder to use in gluten free baking, it's very easy to digest as well
I was never good at desserts but this time I gave it a go, everything seemed to be going well until my cashew/coconut cream cheese got lumpy, no matter how long I processed it the lumps didn't go away. I soaked the cashew nuts for 2 days, what could have gone wrong?
Amazing!!! Totally making this! Thanks, love! xx
Is there an alternative for the coconut cream? Even a non-vegan one?
Can we use jam instead of making this berry icing??
Is there anything you can substitute the cashews wiyh for the filling
I love all your recipes
Can i put something else instead of cocconut oil and cocconut cream ?
you can use any non dairy milk, but you have to add extra cashews to get the right consistency or it won't set. In the crumb you could use any vegan butter
hi! could i make the crust using regular cookies and vegan butter?
Looks so delicious 😻 Decited to do this for my moms birthday, and i'm wondering, if i'd skip the agar agar powder will that effect the cake negatively?
you could try with chia seeds + water to thicken the filling, though Idk what would happen after you freeze it.. or u could just leave it like jam-ish instead of freezing it.
What blender do you use? Is it a high power one? Cause I don't know if my blender could make that crust since there's barely no liquids.
Will the cream firm up if put only in fridge
OMG i actually have to try this. almost died watching this, looks so yum
Tree nut allergies. Any ideas how I could modify this recipe?
I'm gonna make this; I"ll try it with berry's first, but then I'm going to try it with Meyer lemon's. I hope the acidity of the lemon's won't sabotage the consistency of the fruit purée. Maybe I should use more agar. Thoughts, anyone?
Thank you so much. May God bless you
any alternative for cashew nuts?
i used walnuts and it worked just fine
probably any nuts, almonds, sunflower etc.
looks yummy thank you for posting this

What blender do you use? Im trying to find a blender that blends as well as the Vitamix but since i live in Australia, i can only get the Vitamix online and its way too expensive.
