I concur with your opinion not to mention season 3 was also very bad and tehy shouldnt have done a villain of the week thing in every season because then you have no good villains left as your main antagonist. Plus they keep doing every major story that happens throughout hus life every season so there is no real development.

In season 1 when Barry takes Iris to the particle accelerator and tries explaining it to her, she's like "Can you please talk to me in English, I don't speak nerd?" Then in season 4, she's like "Cisco, map the dark matter pulses in the city and triangulate that with satellite imaging and radioactive isotope detection to track DeVoe's pocket dimension." Did I miss the part where she got 50 PhDs which made her capable to do the science of team flash for Cisco and Caitlin?

They should’ve killed Iris permanently, Savitar would think he won but Barry’s friends and loved ones would’ve prevented him from going down that dark path. It could’ve been a strong message about grief and how you can get over it 🤷👍
I can't thank you enough for this. I was rooting for Savitar to end iris every episode of that season and when it happened I thought... Finally. Just to see that Harrison had died in her place. As someone mentioned earlier in the comments other speedsters were able to kill the other members of Barry's family; his mom, his dad but Savitar couldn't end Iris?

Iris is my least favorite character. She makes things all about her. CISCO AND CAITLIN SHOULD HAVE BECOME THE TEAM LEADERS. IRIS SHOULDNT EVEN BE A PART OF TEAM FLASH IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!! I love barry, cisco, a version of harrison wells and caitlin. That should just be the team. Iris should just be a side character along with joe. They should just be his family. Barry should’ve gotten his own love interest instead of pushing iris to be the love interest. The extra characters are good for there moments, but they should just be extra characters and be part of the episode plot only. Iris basically jumps on to everyone else’s ideas. She does NOTHING! SHE IS A USELESS CHARACTER!!! I find that Ralph is a good addition, he has a good plot line and his character development has been really good. Wally became irrelevant to the show so they had him go on a self discovery mission, i think that was a good idea. I enjoyed him being on Legends for a few episodes, it was cool to see him be his own person. Anyways I think the flash is a good show but it just can’t seem to figure out what the characters are meant for.

The worst part is that somehow she gets a leadership role despite having no experience, no expertise and the person with the lowest IQ on the team. I mean she's basically the epitome of the "sleep your way to the top" stereotype, as the only reason she's anywhere is because she's Barry's wife.
"Barry should've gotten his own love interest instead of pushing iris to be the love interest", they did this to Oliver but refuse to do it Barry. Went out of their way to make ALL the other relationships fail for him. And it still worked out bad for Oliver cause we see what felicity is putting him through lol.

I mean, look at Patty Spivot. She had an interesting backstory, actually interesting character conflicts, was effectively Barry's equal in the context of how she is portrayed in the show, is competent, has a developing character, AND SHE IS HIS GIRLFRIEND IN THE COMICS

1 - trying to stop Wally from using his powers
2 - trying to stop Wally from street racing
3 - locking Barry in the pipeline like the rest of the team
4 - getting angry at Barry for not telling her he's Flash even though Joe told him not to
5 - not wanting Barry to come back from the speed force
6 - not telling Nora about her powers
7: Getting mad at Barry for taking back Nora to the future because she's working with Thawne.
8: Getting mad because Eddie was keeping a "secret" from her. (Her keeping secrets is fine and safe but someone else keeping secrets from her aren't) I truly understand why Joe did not want Barry to tell Iris that he's the flash, Because he knew she would want to get involved and that's exactly what happened.

Actually season 1 was ok. Then she got mad at everyone for not telling her Barry was the flash and threw a huge fit. After that she got better during season 2. Then during season 3 with the whole Savitar thing it turned her character into crap. I don’t think iris should have been killed not HR. then season 4 was annoying like in this video. yep. We did fine most of season 1 with Iris just being a reporter and basically just writing pieces to encourage people, and give them hope. Which is a good thing, but she kinda stopped doing that when she became the "boss" of Team Flash.
She is not the brain, she is the organizer, the level headed one, the one able to keep a level head in a situation. And honestly you thought sherloque should have been leader? Mister Ego? I know im late but i really like the idea of flash being one of the fastest speedsters alive vs savitar the god of speed and theyre both pretty much the same person. Its like fighting your alter ego and could easily become a character development for barry, knowing if he went the same direction as savitar, he would become something like savitar
Honestly it would have been better if he was from an alternative universe, or at least have his reason for existing actually make sense. Like had Savatar come about like how RedQ did his/her fanfiction on it.

I've been saying this. The problem with all the CW shows is regarding characters whose initial plotlines revolve around not knowing rhe superhero's identity. And when they find out, the writers almost always shoehorn them into joining or working with the team. Otherwise they are gone from the show. Moira, Laurel, Thea, Tommy, Iris, Eddie, Patty, Julian, Ralph, James, Winn, Maggie, Dt Lance. As the number of main cast that becomes aware of the identity, they less we see of the superhero trying to keep his identity secret in daily life, which is always a fun aspect of the super hero shows. We also see less of the outside world apart from their "bases". The teams become large and bloated. I don't understand why they stuggle with making Iris a reporter who interacts with the public perception of the Flash, or making Laurel a lawyer who fights the criminals within the justice system while Oliver pressures them outside the system, kind of like in season 1. They need to handle such characters better.
JP It's just with the resources they have, they waste it by making soap opera dramas, like for instance take a Netflix marvel show, that feels real and phenomenal, these CW guys are just people who make up a title and add extra spice and drama to it
That’s why I’m hoping Titans on DC universe will only center on the Titans and keep all that outside supporting cast shit out of it. Leave that to the CW. Hopefully, they take a page out of the Marvel/Netflix book.

I won't lie, I love the relationship between Barry and Iris in the comics. It is pure and easily one of DC's strongest comic book relationships, in my opinion. However, the Arrowverse's "take" on it is just disgusting and wrong in so many ways. This relationship wouldn't and shouldn't work at all.

I'm not a fan of Iris either. One thing i noticed that i didn't like was her playing victim. When she fought with Marlize, she literally pulled the Katana that Marlize was holding in to her chest. Then in the second to last episode said "She stabbed me with a katana." This is just one of many things that just aggravates me about her character in the series.

I honestly would've preferred if Barry had stayed in the Speed Force for the first few episodes, maybe up until the Mid-Season break or longer. That way we could develop the side characters and could explain how Iris managed to become Team Leader, we'd also get development for Wally, trying to adjust to being Central City's main protector.

Then in Season 4 Iris who knew nothing about any of the science Team Flash did and spent most of her time being kidnapped, held hostage and nearly killed by their enemies somehow becomes the leader. Then the stupid "We're The Flash" line. No Iris Barry's The Flash. Her trying to take credit for things Barry did was really arrogant. Iris also thought that her and Barry's wedding was more important than stopping The Thinker, a threat to the whole city. But she was at her worst in Season 5, thinking Nora should be able to stay in the present even though she'd ruin the timeline, telling Sherloque Wells not to tell her about anything he found out about Nora then when he found out Nora was working with Thawne she bitched about Sherloque not telling her. Then there was how utterly naive Iris was thinking that Thawne had changed and turned good just because he was helping Nora stop Cicada when he hadn't changed, was still evil and was only helping Nora so Cicada's dagger would be destroyed in the present so it couldn't be used to keep him from using his powers so they could execute him in the future. And during an argument with Barry Iris showed what a horrible person she really is by saying she didn't care that Thawne had killed Barry's mother. I actually laughed when Thawne smiled evilly at Iris before he sped off at the end of Season 5. You can tell he was thinking "I hate your husband because I didn't get to be a hero like him and you still thought you could trust me?"

Because it was pretty obvious Barry was gonna get with her at some point, as the comics hold true, but it happened in such a forced and awkward way. She also started getting more involved in things she really had no reason or business to be apart of. She was always supposed to be a reporter and its weird and stupid that she isnt anymore.
Then season 4 came and it just made me wanna bash my head against a wall. Her reactions and reactions towards Barry, the speedforce and being a speedster were so stupid and made no sense.
Because, she should have been what Joe was like. Obviously part of the team, and there when needed, but not an everyday member, and certainly not the leader, becuase really? Really?
Cisco should of been the leader, plain and simple. He's the one whose been there since day 1, besides Caitlin and I know they couldn't picked her for leader due to her Killer Frost ark, but still.
Further more, the whole "We're the Flash" and "I couldn't do any of this without you" Piss me off so much, because its undermining Barry's abilities and character so much. He's the Flash, he's the one with the powers, the heart and integrity, and the one who risks his live every time he puts on that suit. And he did do it without her, for at least 2 seasons.
So basically, I love Iris, I just wish they didn't force her into places she didn't need to be.

Iris and joe were just side characters which left room for barry to grow, which makes sense since the show is called the flash. And another great thing was the damage to barrys mental health which the show was executing perfectly. But now we don't know about what barry is going through because there are like 8 other plots happening

The first two seasons of the Flash worked because: great villain, emotional story behind each action packed ep, funny interactions between a bunch of nerds at Star labs, and oh yeah, when the show was actually about Barry and his journey to become a hero, not Iris freaking West, who has neither super-speed, scientific or technical expertise, nor the leadership they tried to force down our throats. Her role in the team is so unjustified it's not even funny. And did I mention that she has absolutely ZERO chemistry with Grant Justin's Barry? I've hated her since she first appeared.

Cisco even started that Barry left him in charge, yet for some reason Iris started to pretend she owns the team. Especially when she got mad at Caitlyn because she left the team after season 3. Once Barry came out of the speed force, she still remained “leader” of the team. It’s as if she thinks that just because she is married to the Flash, she should be important.

I hated the epasoide where she had his powers because she was so insentive to him. Barry was clearly upset about it and she didn't care. She also thought that she could do it all by herself and was the only one cable of doing it when she litteraly had powers for like a hot second. Then to prove that she's toxic and controlling to Barry, he said it was up to her weather or not she kept the powers and that they were "her powers" when they weren't. Why would barry offer her to keep them when being the flash is his whole life? It just doesn't make sense. He only does it to please iris because she's toxic and controlling.

The way season 1 worked was wonderful, Barry is thrust into an unfamiliar environment with familiar elements. He slowly builds his friendship and trust with the gang at starlabs, and slowly grows stronger. The villain of this season was wonderful.
Season 2 was alright, Barry being pushed to his very limits emotionally and physically. His friends and his trust are put on the line. The villain is good, but weak compared to season 1.
Season 3 iris is annoying, she gets in the way of everything, she never listens. Please please please just kill her, shows us that this show has the guts to off a major character. Villain of this season, dear god not gonna think about it.

Chris J season 2 was the best tho. Apart from the reverse flash plot, season 1 minivillan per episode was getting kind of boring.
Overall when he discovered new poweres has been the best parts of the show. Season 3 was downhill, villian story felt weak, overall storyline was boring and there was too much wally and jesse, its the Flash not Flash and his friends. Season 4 started okay with the devoe arc but it went boring, cringey and predictable.

Because Cisco is busy helping to save the world. I mean it seems like logic to me. Why would you want to put all your people with powers in a lab and make them sit there telling others what to do? That's why Iris is doing it. She has no powers. They can save the world.
Iris doesn't bother me but I do like your idea of having her focus more on finding information as a reporter. But the expanding roster of heroes does bother me. Even in season 5, we are splitting time between Ralph and Cisco. I'd rather just have Cisco, and not even Vibe, just engineer Cisco. I actually, like the Caitlin and Killer Frost dynamic because we get mostly Caitlin and KF only comes out when needed. Plus she's got some great lines. Cisco also has great lines, but not usually in Vibe mode. They should have moved Ralph to Legends. I like him, but he's taking time away from the original cast.

Black Knight if you're asking if The Flash should be in charge of the entire team, then yes. Like they should all work together and each member have his or her own task. But Barry should be the leader. I'm glad Iris is going back to writing. She's much more helpful that way, and doesn't get in the way.
It shouldn’t be a team to begin with. The Flash usually only works with Kid Flash or sometimes Green Lantern or the JLA. The Flash doesn’t need someone in his ear walking him through every little thing
I agree that Iris would be fine if she helped team flash with her reporter skills and not as a team leader, acting like she actually understand science stuff and knows how to control the high tech equipment at start labs. They should have kept Marlize for the role that Iris is playing now. Marlize just fits perfectly for the science woman who can lead and actually be helpful for the team.
Though I like Cait, she is not ready to be leader, both as Cait and Killer Frost she was always quite malleable and even struggle with Amunet, when Killer Frost should have handle the situation easily. Cisco needs emotional stability.

That’s the thing. The writers don’t know what to do with Iris, she doesn’t have the skills to do ANYTHING in the team, so the writers insisted she would be the leader of the team. The only valuable thing she did in the season, was to write that article for the ppl in Central City. The writers also did that in season 3. They have the whole season “to protect Iris.” The writers are trying to do their best to get Iris to still be on the show, and that is the thing that annoys me.

See i like Iris as a character but I genuinely believe they've utilised her the wrong way.
One thing I see people constantly bringing up (that I agree with) is Iris finding out Barry is the Flash. I don't mind that she found out he was the Flash but I do think it happened way too soon.
Personally I think they should've have kept her as a recurring character in the first two seasons rather than having her as a main character from day one, that way she wouldn't be over-used by appearing in episodes where she realistically didn't need to appear this would've also prevented her from being the nuisance most fans think she is.
Then come Season 3 have her finally find out that Barry was the Flash all along since the threat of her death was the driving force of the season. Then they could've had half the season to develop together as characters, have her come to terms with everything (this could've even helped spice up the Savatar plot.)
Then come season 4 they could utilise her a bit more as without Barry and Caitlyn at the start of the season Cisco and Wally would need all the help they could get, (but not as the leader) have Iris utilise her skills as a reporter, while also having her deal with the fact that she might never see Barry again. Then when he returns she helps him recover and get better and again the two could develop as characters together, have her slowly build up through the season (maybe even have her see one of the Alternate Versions of herself as inspiration) never forgetting who she is.
To cut myself off here, what i'm trying to say is they should've took their time with her character, they shouldn't have shoe-horned her into episodes where she wasn't needed, let her grow as her own character outside of Team Flash. Again I don't dislike her character but I can see why other people do, to me she just feels like a missed opportunity.

@@smashinationproductionsoff7318 actually the reason for that is Reverse Flash was literally turned into a living paradox, due to Barry creating a Flashpoint timeline meaning, he can exist at any point in the future with or without Barry,.
