- Here's a fun old Sigma lens that gives a fisheye projection on full-frame cameras. It's getting on a bit these days, though - is it still good enough to be relevant today?

THANK YOU FOR THIS REVIEW! The best one i have found on this lens.
I was seeking a review of this lens couple of days before but i didn't find any good tutorial.
Really happy to watch this.
Thumbs up.
Thank you for your effort here, I appreciate the time and your review.
Seriously when it cones to lens and camera reviews I only watch Christopher Frost. Great videos and great reviews.
Another great review.. Thumbs Up!
You are a great presenter. The best camera and lens reviewer. Hope i see the Sigma 10mm F2.8 EX DC as well. Thanks for your great videos. Good on you.
Best fisheye diagonal. low costa and big performance. Flare under total control
Nice test.
Can you make a review of canon 15mm f2.8 fisheye len too?
Great video
Eventhough I use a Nikon cameras. I enjoy you reviews:) Thanks for the effort. I appreciate it. Have a nice one:)
Bought used. Arrived yesterday. Fantastic lens. Comparable to the Nikon 10.5mm fish for DX.
Always love watching your reviews Chris :) In a week or so, I'll be purchasing the Canon EF 15mm F/2.8 Fisheye. One catch is that the autofocus has stopped working so it will practically work as a Samyang lens; fully manual (^_^) I'll get it for 150£ which I think is a perfect deal. I've already tested the lens and it doesn't suffer from any optical defects.
MrRapala91 Sounds like a good deal to me!
I have both Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX DG Fisheye and the Canon 8-15mm F4L Fisheye. The Sigma lens is indeed still relevant up to these days. The Sigma lens, as a prime lens, have a wider aperture and can be so helpful when shooting night photos such as the Milky Way, but the Autofocus is slow and noisy, it's like having a camera which will soon turn into a Optimus Prime when you are focusing :p, and the Sigma kinda makes the sun ray to become a Sunstar (star-shaped-sun ray), and it's a very unique feature, at least for me.
Do you have any idea about what rear gel filter is good for these lens? I tried to look for Fotodiox Wonderpana FreeArc but it's discontinued already. Hmmm :/
Thanks 👍
Can you please do a review of the tokina 10-17 thanks. Love the reviews
Until recently, I shied a way from 3rd party lenses, but I must concede, that the latests Sigma lenses, especially their wickedly amazing Art Lenses and their latest macro lenses are equal to or surpass the very best from Nikon & Canon. This is an older Sigma, but still a very good lens. However, I still recommend the Samyang Fisheyes... no auto focus, but it's simple not needed for this type of lens, and it's optical quality is as good an the other lenses in their class... and the pro-built quality is better then most... while saving you a nice bit of money. Best wishes Chris...
i hope they come out with a fisheye lens for Sony E Mount sometime soon
Will you review the sigma 8mm f/3.5 too? What are the main differences to the 15mm f/2.8?
Hello, thanks for your video and your test.
Could you say where is the church filmed at 1:55?
Do you know what is posted on the wall to the right?
Thanks!
Any idea about the non-DG version? I see some cheaper versions coming out of Japan that are simply Sigma 15mm EX F2.8 fisheye. Just without the DG. Is it just an older model? I can’t find any info about it.
Can you test the Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX DG OS HSM?
It would be great if you get a Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye to test here.
is there a autofokus option on this lens for Canon mount?
video on that lens is pretty much beer goggles
gsboss LOL thats exactly what I was thinking, right before I started getting dizzy!
Just tested this on a A7iii with mc-11 and it worked perfectly!
Is that the adapter to use for this lens?
@@blancopop7845 I haven't used any others, but people with more experience with this then me, says MC-11 is the way to go. I have tested a lot of Sigma and Tamron for Canon on Sony with it..Works so good :) Only issue is AF on video. But on stills? Works like a charm!
No macro test for this lens?
Great review! I would love to see you review the Sigma 24-105 f4. I really want to know how it stacks up against the legendary Canon variety!
acedenach I (finally) got my hands on a copy so a review will be out in the next month or so :-)
Why no review for the 70-200 2.8? it is the most popular configuration among professionals.
I wonder how field curvature looks like.
super
Can you do a crop sensor fisheye lens review?
auxmike He already made one. Check out his samyang fisheye review.
If you had a choice between the Sigma 15mm vs Samyang 12mm which would you select? The lens would be mounted on a Canon 5D
Samyang
my nikon copy is so much faster than the one you have. i got this lens thinking this was an aps-c only. In my opinion, i think i hit gold
anyone know why my sigma won't go all the way to the infinity mode? it gets stuck 0.5 won't go past that
Sounds like either your lens or your camera is broken
Nice lens and nice review method, like your other videos.
I have just bought a Tamron SP 17-35 f2.8-4.0 Di Af IF, designed for full frame cameras. It's a very good lens, have you ever heard it?
If I were from your country, I would have sent you this lens to review it. Have you ever considered to do a review of this lens? :-)
barbaquadro Interesting you should say that. I am currently testing a copy of that particular lens! A review will be out in a month or so. I wasn't impressed with the image quality, although it is sharp in the middle of its images, and if you stop down it's aperture then you can get very good images
Would this work well on a canon EOSR?
With an adaptor it should be okay
15-30 2.8 Tamron or 15 mm 2.8 Sigma....thats my question!! Wich one i should pick???
They are completely different lenses so it depends on what kind of photography you're trying to do. Look at my review of the Tamron lens
Just hoping you give more time in this review for the APSC..
😐
Robby Ari Sanjaya As I explained in the video, there's no point, because if you want fisheye on APS-C then you need an 8mm or 10mm lens
Which one the good brand? Sigma or samyang?
I don't understand your question
I mean which one the good one for wide angel sigma or samyang. I am watching many review but I don't understand which brand the best for wide angel and which size the best. Thank you
My advice for you to to figure out exactly what kind of angle of lens you want (10mm, 12mm, 15mm etc.) and then look at the options available to you. Also, bear in mind whether you're using a full-frame or APS-C camera. This 15mm Sigma lens is a full-frame fisheye lens, and the Samyang equivalent is the Samyang 12mm f/2.8 lens. Have a look at my review - it will help you to make your decision
Oke thank you so much chris

this one or nikon 15mm for video?
Never tried the Nikon lens
Sigma 15 or samyang 15?
Lord mich The Samyang is actually 12mm, it gives a wider projection, so I'd go for the Samyang myself, too. Check out my review of that lens for more info
Here I thought it would be the sam yang thing..
I have the opportunity to get a Samyang and a Sigma for the same price. I like how subtle the Samyang is, but the Sigma does have autofocus which helps when shoot from the ground or from the hip. What would you suggest?
+Samuel Granger I personally would go with the Samyang. Its projectiojn is nicer and wider, and AF isn't really important in such a wide angle lens.
This lens is making a lot of back-focus issues in the dark even with 2 led st-e2 assist focus beams :( Maybe it's just my case but it's very sad because i'm a nightclub photographer
whats so dramatic about that? i own an apsc 10mm. iso pushed to 1600, manual focus set once,f14 and dont give a fuck about focussing at all anymore
+Joshua Mack i mean i often also take photos at 3.5. but its easy to use f11-14 instead, and
its faster than any autofocus in the dark and i have everything important sharp 90 percent of the images
the 15mm sigma fisheye on sd1 merril is not 3rd party lens it is orginal a friend of mine has the sd1 merril sigma bodey and 15mm fisheye and some Art lenses the sd1 is a good camera and the lenses are orginal
+ted tedsen ...okay
Manual focus?
wheres sigma 10mm f2.8 review?
Haven't tried it yet
pretty fun lens, i just bought one for aps-c camera :)
Still prefer the Samyang 12mm over the greater field of view and more ED elements despite loss of AF. It still works with AF confirmation on Nikon but sadly not on Canon
