My g35 has oil leak I hope 🤞 this fixes the problem. Thank for the video 👍
Great video! I have an '05 G35x and have a leak in that oil filter area. A technician told me that the whole oil cooler needs to be replaced but I suspect it's just the gasket that needs to be replaced.
Where did you find out the leak was coming from?
@@justinjackson9146 The O ring went bad. No longer have the car. I miss the sound of my high flow cats and magnaflow catback...
I like to keep in mind that you have to clean the oil cooler before installing new O ring. Sometimes dirt and grime gets behind the old one.. Causing a leak for the new O ring.
Great! Just what I needed, but holy shite you took off a lot of extra stuff.
Haha thanks! Makes it easier for video and for me too. I took the time to dismantle a lot of stuff so it is easier for me and the camera. 👍
Thank you sir
If you still have this car I have a question about a metal line that goes just above the oil cooler. It's the transmission cooler lines and I'm struggling with their placement. My neighbor tore his 350z down last year and never took pictures
Hi Tom, I have a related question. I think I need to make this repair on my 2003 G35 Sedan, as I am noticing some leaking from the same general area. Whenever I have attempted to take off the bottom engine shield / splash guard, I almost inevitably break one of the metal screws as they seem to be corroded and weakened. In fact, last time I had it in for an oil change, I believe the shop broke one of the screws because the shield is unattached closest to the oil filter. Anyway, what sort of repair procedure do you recommend to remove those broken sheet metal screws and reattached the shield?
Just use a remover and if necessary retap it
Do I need to actually drain my oil pan? Or just the oil that comes out wit the filter and cooler? I justttt did an oil change and I don’t want to have to drain it all and go buy alll new oil smh
I didn't see in the video where you removed the old gasket.
Probably a dumb question but is this oil cooler in the same location for the vq35hr?
yes
have you changed the oil pressure relief valve ?
I have not changed that before, sorry.
What if it’s leaving towards the middle of the car to where the exhaust is
Hey man I’m looking to do this to my 06G 35 coupe because I noticed the oil leak is coming from there in the video you said in the beginning that you need a 21 mm socket then when you actually want to go and book the socket you said it was a 22 mm I’m just a little confused and looking for some confirmation from you thank you for making this video is very helpful and save me money
It is a 22m socket you will need. I made a mistake in the beginning of the video and corrected it with the 22m.
Thanks for the kind words! Hope it helps! Have a great day!
Tom's Garage Fix Thanks man appreciate the comment back just finish it up right now actually hopefully all goes well with my engine it only pulled out for court quarts of oil wanted my change
What was the oil leak dripping like the middle or the back of the engine
It was minimal, it was definitely noticeable. On start up the car would leak and once it warmed up the leak would go away. It was coming more from the middle of the engine. I would check your cooler o’ring to see if yours is leaking from there. Take a paper towel and wipe everything clean and then start the car for a couple minutes and see where the leak is. It’s easier to see with the bottom tray taken off too. Hope this helps!
Mine leaks at start up then stops at warm, just ordered part from advance for $3.59 Will be there at lunch. Thanks for vid.
Hey where can you get that bolt from in the oil filter? Mine has a ding in the thread so oil filter doesn’t screw on :(
I’m not too sure. Are you referring to the thread that is on the new/ old filter or the thread inside the engine?
Tom's Garage Fix the thread inside the engine, it’s that bolt you pull out the one that connects to the oil filter when you screw it in
Tom's Garage Fix I think it’s called the oil cooler bolt
I see what you mean, I haven’t worked on that car in forever! If I was in your position I would call up Nissan or Infiniti’s service / parts department and ask if they have one in stock near you.
Tom's Garage Fix yeah, I found one online for a little less then $20 so I just might order it. I’ll just be out a car for a week :(
The hose coming out the oil pan (filter ) what’s it called ?? Return oil hose ???
engine coolant look closely and you see 2 hoses .One in and one out
what size was that oil filter wrench? mine won't come off with just hands
Hello! I used the TEKTON 5866 12-Inch Oil Filter Pliers. You can find them on amazon for less than 10 dollars.
@@tomsgaragefix1004 thank you i just ordered that one!
Great! Hope the repair all goes well!
So for the 36 foot pound wrench, does it only tighten it to that amount? Like, if I use a regular torque wrench will it not work as well as it should? I was under the impression that all you have to do is tighten it until you can no longer tighten it, regardless of how many foot pounds the wrench is rated for...
You should be able to specify on the handle what amount of torque you want the wrench to stop on. If you’re referring to a wrench that only goes up to 3) foot pounds then it will go no further. A torque wrench should have that option on the handle to adjust the force your applying onto it.
you didnt have to drain the oil previously, did you?
I don’t think I did but I would recommend it.
It's NOT 21mm. Thanks for the extra trips to the auto parts store
He said 22 bud
@@truzami he literally did not. Go to 1:16 he says 21mm and 10mm
@@xposhr 4:51 he said it, just watch the whole video
In the beginning of the video you said 21 mm socket then when u began taking the nut off you said 22 mm socket. Umm which one is it
Sometimes I forget or change the socket from the beginning of filming all the way to the end.
It’s cause my car to smoke cause the oil is falling on the exhaust
On the g35, the oil cooler is under the exhaust. You will need to replace the valve cover gasket.
So that’s why my shits been leaking
Haha, hopefully you’ll be able to get it fixed! 👍
