    You couldn’t be more detailed!! Thanks. I broke the antifreeze line trying to push the new alternator in from the bottom!🤦🏾‍♂️ Last time I’ll ever do this job on the ground!😂

      Appreciate the kind words man! Now I gotta make a video on fixing that antifreeze line you busted too? 😂Sadly, I had to sell my g35 a couple years ago to a dude here in town (it's still running though). The ol gal may leak oil out of the gearbox but it'll never die! Best of luck with yours my man! :)

      haha I feel ya! A 2008 Infiniti is now sadly 15 years old...you're going to probably be needing a lot more videos than mine to keep that thing runnin' ;) Mine eventually had a timing chain gasket leak and I had to throw in the towel a couple years back. Hopefully your luck is better than mine!

    really useful and detailed video. i own same car with same engine. every time when I remove under cover, I can see a drop of engine oil always is at the bottom of the engine oil filter..
    can it be due to old Engine Oil Cooler O-ring?..

    • @think41c
      @think41c  6 місяців тому +1

      Maybe. My leak was SUPER slow at first. And I'm used to seeing oil leak from the oil drain pan in cars. But there was sort of oil splattered everywhere when I first noticed it. Cleaned it up real good, drove it for a bit, and then saw that the leak was dribbling down to the bottom of that chrome/metal housing of the engine oil cooler and I realized that was the issue. If you're seeing the oil on your oil filter itself, it may just not be on there real tight and maybe just needs to be tightened. My way is a bit tedious of just wiping everything down clean, driving a bit, and then looking again for the oil, but it's pretty effective at narrowing down where leaks are coming from. Best of luck!

      I think the concept will be the same in terms of how the engine cooler has that O ring. The question is will the gasket sit on the inner ring (I bet it would) and will it be the same size (I bet it would be too). If the oil filter is the same size as the g35, I'd say it'd have a greater likelihood of all being pretty much the same instruction, but you'd just have to take a peek down there to find out for sure.

    What is the metal line called connected to the rubber hose. I have coolant leaking from that line

    • @think41c
      @think41c  25 днів тому

      If you're talking about the Engine Oil Cooler itself (not just the O-ring) b/c that metal is cracked, that's going to probably cost around $550 (as of 2024). Do a google search for "infiniti g35 engine oil cooler" and you should find what I think you're talking about wanting to replace.

    So you don't have to totally drain all of the oil out before replacing this O ring?

    • @tonydinitto948
      @tonydinitto948 2 роки тому +2

      Correct. It's sort of the equivalent of doing just an oil filter change by itself. You'll lose some oil but really not much at all.

    • @think41c
      @think41c  7 місяців тому +2

      Yes but that will happen almost without you trying bc there's oil already in the groove where the gasket goes anyway.

    what should i do if i replace the o ring and the leak is still occurring? any answers are appreciated.

    • @think41c
      @think41c  Рік тому

      Could be a number of things. Presuming you're definitely sure it's leaking from that cooler and not somewhere else, it could be that the ring isn't the right type / size, your cooler bolt isn't tightened enough when you replaced it, the notch that the ring is seated in is dirty and needs to be wiped clean, the ring isn't seated in the correct notch, your oil cooler is somehow damaged, etc. I would personally try to reseat / reseal / retighten it and see if that works. Not sure what else it could be though but hopefully one of these reasons triggers an idea for you to try. Best of luck!

    Is there another seal a smaller one? I went to nissan and for my Pathfinder they gave me 2 rings. A big one and a small one

    • @think41c
      @think41c  4 роки тому

      Pathfinder may be very different - not sure. But to answer your question, there's definitely only 1 ring that you need for an 08 Infiniti G35x. I can't even think where there would possibly be another gasket required since there's only one point where a oil cooler attaches to the car. Let us know what you find out though!

    • @think41c
      @think41c  3 роки тому

      Took me only about 10-15 minutes since the undercarriage "splash guard" was already off and I already have the tools, oil drip pan, and replacement oil handy. But it'll probably take someone just doing it from absolute scratch like an 1 hour or more between finding the gasket online, ordering it, getting their ratchet set out, getting their car jacked up, buying another oil filter if they dent the old one removing it, buying oil, getting the drip pan ready, finding the oil filter wrench (if the current one won't come off by hand), taking off the splash guard, refilling and testing oil levels, etc etc. I have no idea what the 'shop book' calls for in terms of time it takes though, but I wouldn't be surprised if they say 30-60 minutes. Anyway, best of luck with it!

    • @think41c
      @think41c  3 роки тому

      Not sure what you're meaning. The o-ring is a "gasket" of sorts I suppose, but not sure what you mean by getting a gasket for the o-ring. A lot of times you don't need to use any gasket maker stuff on the o-ring, but I've heard some people having a leak even after replacing the o-ring and using some red gasket maker on the o-ring will sometimes stop the leak. But again, that's fairly uncommon and not a "recommended" thing I don't think.
