My personal belief: this was a lullaby Dess used to sing to Noelle, the promise is the line that follows, that she will protect Noelle in the dark. My guess personally is that it's being sung by the player- or, rather, it's written from our perspective- and it's being "sung" to Kris. It's about the Kris/Player dynamic. Under this reading, the song effectively means; "Hey, no matter what happens, no matter how dire this adventure gets, you'll always have [The Player], no matter what, shining on, giving you strength. Don't forget that." With this either being genuine reassurance ("Don't forget I'm here for you no matter what!") or an ominous threat ("Don't forget that no matter what you do, you can't get rid of me") depending on route context.
I think it could be Dess (December) singing to Noelle. Since Noelle is in a bad situation from in game text. Her father is in the hospital and Dess is missing, her mother is also rough on her. "I'm with you in the dark" could be referring to Noelle being in a dark situation, and it could be Dess being with Noelle in memory.
I think it's interesting that Ralsei is trying to move everyone into Castle Town but close the rest or the dark worlds. I don't think he's malicious, I actually believe he's right about the Roaring and need to stop it. Also damn of COURSE it seems like Gaster's the narrator. I feel like their presence in this game is actually more concrete than in Undertale.
... I think it's malicious. I honestly do. You don't "Recruit" people into a town. You "Recruit" into a team or an army. I think, factually, handing over an army to someone titled the Prince of Darkness, is kind of a bad idea. Especially when they are as sketchy as Ralsei.
@@Amber7H A lot of people don't. I'm running around pointing out how Ralsei is definitively using us and working against us, and no one really wants to hear it. I don't think he's evil, I don't think "evil" exists in Deltarune, but... I don't trust him, nor do I trust Kris. They're going to betray us at some point.
@@TheSkyGuy77 I'm still working on my own personal theory, and I dunno if I got everything right, but Ralsei is the key. He's got some connections to the SOUL and I'm going to figure it out before chapter 3 releases.
6:20 To me, this always hit the hardest in The World Revolving. Its pretty unnerving when you're on Jevil's final phase, hes phasing in and out of existence, everyone's at 1 hp, and the line being repeated at the end of the song is "IM WITH YOU IN THE DARK" over and over again.
I think it could have something to do with the prophecy, However, I’ve been interpreting the prophecy as this: *“If the balance were to shatter, then a great calamity will occur (the roaring). **Only then** shining with hope, three heroes appear at worlds edge. Only they have the power to close the fountains (the same ones the titans will come out of, since the roaring is happening at this point) and banish the angels heaven. **Only then** will balance be restored, and the world saved from destruction.”* It’s a bit literal, but it seems to me that the prophecy is saying that the roaring is set to happen, but it’s also the *only* time that we’re supposed to show up “shining with hope/shining in the cold” despite the end of the world happening around us, and when we close the fountains that the titans come out of and banish the angels heaven, that’s the *only* time that balance will be restored. It’s a relatively good ending despite it all. And so my question is, why is Ralsei so against the roaring happening in the first place? Not saying he should be all for it or anything, and I’m sure it could be a meta thing regarding timing and future chapters, but it’s as if he doesn’t want it to happen *ever.* Is it because ultimately we’ll have to close *his* fountain? Why is he making us revamp castle town with *other* dark world denizens, giving us and our friends their own rooms, not to mention *naming the town after the player,* if we’re just going to ultimately close his fountain anyway? Is it because he’s doing all of this so that we won’t *need/want* to start the roaring? Does he not trust us to fix things? Or is he just afraid of being alone again? Kinda like how Toriel was tired of watching humans fall down, leave, and die over and over again, and how she was willing to trap us in the ruins forever to stop that, maybe I’m reaching but maybe Ralsei will do something similar at some point? Maybe the song is talking about how even if the roaring were to happen, there’s still a light shining in the cold, hope, hope that we will save the day and fix everything despite the circumstances, even if it seems useless or already too late, maybe it’s saying that it’s never too late to fix things or that we’ll still stick around even if things get hard? Or maybe it’s more sappy, like a “I’ll always be in your heart” kinda thing. Idk though! That’s just my perspective, I could be wrong!
hey, minor correction for 19:30! both sans's workship and clam girl can be accessed in any version of the game and were both part of the initial release version 1.000. the "dont forget" text was added with the v1.001 patch from january 2016, and shows up in sans's workship provided you have a.) encountered clam girl with a fun value of 80-89, and b.) spoken to her about 'suzy'. the switch version, which released about a month before the deltarune chapter 1 demo, only affected clam girl in that if you had the exact fun value of 81 she will say the time you meet suzy "is fast approaching", go greyscale and disappear. so "don't forget" has actually been in undertale since even earlier than you said!
Every time this fandom mentions Clamgirl, there's misinfo about her. Like, I know im just really obsessed about a niche character, but it irritates me to no end. Thank you for correcting the video.
Honestly I wonder if Pian Pian is a super distorted Don’t Forget, and that’s why they played it every time they went to Noelle’s house after the disappearance.
Wait, I just thought of it in the middle of the video. What if that's Dec... singing to Noelle. Think about it. The first 2 lines can apply to preety much any lightner that visited a dark world, not just Kris. But with Noelle it can also have a metaphorical second layer. Sort of "when the hope is running low, and mentals cracks start to grow, and the places that you personally know seem distancing from you". The light inside her soul then, can be interpreted as a hope that she still holds on to despite the despair (the cold), but it can also refer to some sort of power of sentimentality that will snap her out of that weird route blank expression (the cold). In either way, the "truth" can also be interpreted in many ways, from opening up about her nerdy interests to proposing to Susie and from opening her eyes to player's manipulations to revealing what she did to one or even multiple of her family members. I wouldn't even mention the promise, they are sisters afterall. And her being with her in the "dark" can be referring to the void she is in, a dark world Noelle is in, or just her being supportive in Noelle's darkest hour. TLDR, there are many ways it can work.
🎶 When the light is running low And the shadows start to grow And the places that you know Seem like fantasy There's a light inside your soul That's still shining in the cold With the truth, the promise in our hearts Don't forget, _I'm with you in the dark_ 🎶
That's so Interesting !!! I always thought that behind the sweet and benevolent lyrics of don't forget, was hiding a more deep ans perhaps even sinister meaning to it..
My theory is Dess is singing a song to Noelle from the void hence quotes like "That's still shining in the cold" and "Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark" meaning even though she is missing, gone, kidnapped or whatever happened, she is still there for Noelle. And to add on Onion says that they hear music underwater. I think that bunker in hometown most likely leads to the void underground or even a darkworld, under the water perhaps? But in that bunker is most likely the void that Dess is singing and still having faith in Noelle hence the quote "Don't Forget I'm with you in the dark."Also in the code you can see text that says "hello?" and stuff along the lines of "it's cold" and "help" which probably is being said by Dess.
I feel like it could also be like SU's "Love Like You", where the lyrics apply to all of the characters in some way, or the general theme of the game. "i'm with you in the dark" can have many meanings, being in a literal dark world, being in a grim situation, or being oblivious about something. It could mean that, no matter how dire the situation gets, as long as their bonds stay strong they can make it out of it. Between the lightners needing escapism and companionship from their rough lives, and darkners needing the lightners to feel like they have a purpose, it could very well apply to all of them. The real Don't Forget was the friends we made along the way.
I defy you, honorable sir. There is a fourth option. Our Player Character, the SOUL is the one singing. We are the truth, the promise in their hearts, for we are the [Heart-Shaped Object].
About the whole "places that you know seem like fantasy", if Dess was singing this song then it could mean that Hometown, and all the "places" in it are "like fantasy" as in she hasn't seen them in so long that they seem like some fantasy that she wishes she could escape to, or that they have been gone so long that she doubts their existence
but what if it's the player from the future sending this song back in time by gaster to inspire their past self and the fun gang, and in chapter 7 there's some kind of thing where we ourselves as the players of the game, have to diageticly sing it, whether that be through some kind of rhythm game segment, or idk.
I always thought maybe it's Asriel still being with Chris Or it's Toby being with the player in spirit. I really like your theories though. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this. I also just thought Don't Forget was just the end part of Field of Hopes and Dreams song.
There are so many ways to interpret these lyrics. Heck, given Toby`s maniacal genius, when it mentions cold, I can see it somehow referring to Snowdin. I wouldn`t put it past Toby that he wants us to revisit what appeared to us to be mundane narrative beats of Undertale to figure out Deltarune. But eh, I'm absolutely brainrotted so what do I know.
I always thought this song was (somewhat) referencing both Entry 17 with the themes of growing darkness/shadows, as well as the note in the secret room behind sans and Papyrus' house, with them both saying "don't forget." That's still mostly basic level observations by me though, so probably no huge lore revelations there.
Don't forget it says shining in the COLD. 3:50. Both Undertale and DELTARUNE have important connections to cold. Undertale having Snowdin Town and DELTARUNE having the Holliday family's various connections to the snow.
Crazy how there are still theorys being made about this game AND ITS GOOD??? the games been out for 3 years how has this video not been made yet and why is this one so good???
I think it’s Ralsei singing to Kris (not the player). I believe that Kris knows something or saw something in the past (soul shining with the truth). My guess is that long ago Asriel and Des went to the dark world and at some point the roaring started and they had to involve Kris to stop it. (Would explain the very first area in the dark world in chapter 1)That’s when something happened to Des. And in the process of stopping the roaring Kris lost his soul but it still exists in the dark world and he needs to find it and find the truth of what happened. Also the promise is probably related to saving Des.
You got me thinking. What if this song isn't to US. What if it's naturally in the world? Something remembered. Say, late at night, after the kids and older siblings are playing in the woods? After all the spooks and screams and howls... a soft and quiet reassurance from Des, to her little sister, "I'm with you in the dark".
I've always interpreted this song to be entirely metaphorical and metaphysical for the narrative. Aa in, the light running low is more referring to a dark time in one's life in general, and the person that's with us in the dark is kinda,,, the game itself. The life lessons and reassurance that this piece of media gives us. The word promise in this case would be interpreted as its second meaning, that being potential and hope. It's possible, and i think most likely, that in the end the song will have both a literal meaning like the one you describe in the video AND a meta narrative meaning that i talked about
Im not even kidding when I say that the thing I look forward to the most in regards to the final release of Deltarune is hearing the full version of Don't Forget.
What if the narrator of the song is our soul itself? Sort of like a "Dispute between a man and his Ba" situation where our soul is reaching out to us to give us courage and remind us of our morals in a strange situation. It could be reminding us that when we enter a dark world and everything we knew is obscured with lies it still can shine truth for us if we just don't forget it. It works for, I think, a lot of the same reasons the Gaster suggestion does with the addition of a concept that relates to this whole situation. "Whi you are in the dark" is a question people ask to try to discover who they are without outside influence - or, in the dark. Our soul could be asking us to remember our conscience even in moments where we think no one is judging us, because even in those moments our soul is.
I've always assumed "And the places that you know seem like fantasy " was more about feeling lost and far from home. The situation presented in the song is one where life has been engulfed in shadow, and the world feels so cold that it's hard to remember that how things were "before" was ever reality at all. For me it's not saying that you are in a fantastical world, it's saying that the places you know, that are dear and familiar, feel so distant they might as well be fantasy. In my opinion this interpretation works for either Dess or Gaster's stories, but arguably Dess a little more.
my personal headcanon is that its a popular lullaby/kids song within the universe, but tbf that is based in absolutely nothing within the game and it would be really funny if it was gaster bc god DAMN that man can spit even after being shattered across time and space
I like this but to me the secret bosses and the future ones to me are the most interesting part of these games Jevil and Spamtom have 2 themes they are presenting their own and the same, the theme they both share is freedom they theme Jevil has is being content with his strings while Spamton theme he is not content with his I wonder the theme of the next one.
I think all 3 of these interpretations are correct simultaneously. The song is intended to have multiple meanings, for dess a comforting yet sad one, for ralsei a hopeful friendly one and for gaster it becomes sort of horrifying when you think about it.
"The places that you know feel like fantasy" strikes me as interesting coming at the end of Chapter 1 of a game. We don't really know these places. Could he be referring to the setting of Undertale that we had been meticulously poring over for three years? Because compared to Hometown which is just any old middle America small town, every location in Undertale feels like a fantasy land.
this is just a throwaway i’m not too good at theorising but it could possibly be shyren relaying a message from the sea? we don’t see her in chapter 1 but we know that onionsan hears the song in the water during ch1 and just doesn’t tell us until ch2 so maybe the ocean ties to ‘the depths’ (ocean imagery and sounds used when picturing it in game) and there’s some kind of barrier where onionsan can either hear dess or gaster singing somehow (?) or hear shyren relaying the song, which would make sense of the voice being a more feminine one. the song/message could be from anyone but she could just be mimicking it or relaying it. she’s in hospital in chapter 2 saying she’s resting her voice so maybe that’s a hint saying she sang that final song from ch1, possibly hearing it from someone else but either way giving shyren a bit of importance. she also does seem to be doing her job as a siren this way since she’s drawing onionsan back every night.
I always assumed it was telling me to not forget about chapter one after waiting for many years for the rest of the chapters to come out. Pretty big ask, but I'll try.
I always interpreted Don't Forget as a more metaphorical, esoteric sort of song, not necessarily something meant to be diagetic. If anything, I felt it was The Soul singing to Kris, trying to appeal to them and show them empathy since it knows they resent its presence. Like "Yes, things are weird right now, and I know you're not feeling very hopeful about it all. But you can get through it, and I'm here to help."
the word you were looking for is "omnipresent" not "omnipotent". omnipotent means all powerful and we don't know much about that but what the goners strongly imply is that he is always present which is omnipresent
Funnily enough, I have never once even considered thinking about this song. Which is wild considering that Toby Fox makes every song super important and this one actually has lyrics. There's 2 things that I will be immensly disappointed if Deltarune doesn't feature - Suziezilla and the Roaring. Toby has set an expectation, I really hope he will deliver. Yes, I know our role as the player is to prevent the roaring - but come on, Chekov's gun. You can't leave the roaring on the table and not give us the roaring. And with Suziezilla, I would treat it as a throwaway dialogue if we didn't end the chapter watching a movie about a giant purple monster
Is it weird that I remember Don’t Forget because it was used in slimecicle’s Skyrim VR video Edit: okay so I don’t actually remember if it was specifically the Skyrim VR video but I’m sure it was in a slimecicle video
Could it be us? I know that sounds weird, but I think it'd make a lot of sense if it's supposed to be us talking to Kris. This is one of the only times in the game that we have actual full on voice acting, even characters like Spamton and Jevil only say like one or two bitcrushed words at a time, this is clear and direct. That break in the "rules" has to mean something, it's very reminiscent of how Omega Flowey was full size images instead of pixel art. As for the lyrics themselves, it makes a lot of sense that we'd be trying to comfort Kris and get them to be on our side, especially if the world crumbles and everything they know falls into darkness. We're directly attached to their SOUL, we're with them no matter what happens. The only other person that could be argued to have this same connection would be if you consider Chara to be a player-surrogate and believe they're also attached to the SOUL. I don't know if I buy that myself, but if us singing the song is too outlandish then IMO Chara is the next best option.
Apologies in advance for rambling in your comment section: One thing regarding the Ralsei theory and "I'm with you in the dark"; Obviously his similarities to Asriel must be intentional, especially as the light world people go out of their way to mention that Asriel is real but is not physically present, and Kris SUPPOSEDLY misses him. As Ralsei is the one darkner who seems to know what's happening, it is possible that Ralsei was somehow left behind by Asriel for Kris - and if he and Dess were from the same rough generation of kids, they may well have learned about the the dark worlds together. This is a lot of guessing of course, but with the clear connection between Ralsei and Asriel in some way, real or deceptively, the "Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark" could become a double meaning of Ralsei literally being with us, and Asriel being with us in spirit through Ralsei. It's hard to say because we're still so early in the story and we don't know the role Asriel plays in the story - but I do figure there IS one since the game continuously refers to him as a major person in Kris' life. That also doesn't mean that I think Ralsei is the most likely singer of course (my personal favourite theory so far is The Soul and/or The Angel being the singer here), at this point who even knows, but from that perspective, it does make me wonder if there's some double meaning there. That said, I can't shake the feeling that the word choice of "cold" is very deliberate too, and the Holidays are definitely connected to that idea. But for all we know, this could be a theme befitting many characters all at once, the same way that certain leitmotifs are connected to several npc's or bossfights at once. Let's not forget that character fusion is not a new idea in Toby's works either, and in fact the old lab was full of them, after experimenting with the Soul and "extracting" something from it.
Ok, this is getting way overcomplicated. Stop trying to tie in all the loose ends of the lore and listen to the statement as a whole. “The truth- the promise in our hearts- I’m with you in the dark”. It’s all one idea. When times get tough, it’s easy to feel alone (IE, “in the dark), but the _truth_ is there are always people willing to stand by you. That’s the “promise in our hearts”. Friendship and the dedication to face adversity together.
Dude, remember in Undertale, where one of it's most important characters was hidden in the code, behind a bunch of random events based on a value that is generated when you create your file, and in the damn sound test screen, which itself, was hidden behind those same values generated at the start of the game? Or how "Lv", which normally stands for Level, stands for LOVE, or Level Of ViolencE, and EXP were counted as "Execution Points", and how the entire character strengthening system was based around killing intent, and the whole game was based around not engaging in that system for the true ending? These games are immune to overanalyzing, because they literally tell the story via every element. The music, the gameplay, the hidden bits in the code, the audience participation, the ARGs... Nothing is simple in a Toby Fox game.
Seems just like a nice song by the lady who sang the song from Plants vs. Zombies. But, that won't stop Deltarune fans from speculating endlessly until the heat death of the universe and Chapter 7 drops
Considering we know "something" likely happened in the past with Kris at that bunker and that probably had something to do with December's disappearance, this promise may have occurred then 🤷 Edit: it's also worth noting that Dess is known to be associated with an acoustic guitar, and most acoustic players tend to also be singers, meanwhile the instrumental accompaniment here is a piano, which we know Kris used to play and being close friends with the Holliday's it wouldn't be surprising if she often sang as he played before she disappeared. That being said I can't rule out the possibility of Gaster using Dess to manipulate Kris...
Also don't forget, it's us sealing the fountains, not kris. Throught my playthroughs I've presumed kris doesn't really care if they are open or not...or at least finds them disinteresting. Each time he only goes in because Susie is there to coax them😅. Until the end of 2. There, they show a huge interest in them after learning they hold the power to open them. I find it ironic no one has ever tried to answer why did Kris' interest in dark worlds shift so suddenly after queens fight and does opening one means that they now have their own agenda that will conflict with the player
Also, the last nine notes of Don’t Forget are a pitched up version of Gaster’s Theme played on a piano: the same instrument used in Undertale’s version, and multiple other versions in Deltarune.
i just had an enlightenment and it's unsettling: the Angel is actually Dess, not Noelle, and by manipulating her or not, starting from chapter 2, the player can choose 2 endings to the game, the power of friendship sort of ending, where we stop the Angel and her Haven, or the bad ending, where we force Noelle to kill her own sister, after the most bittersweet reunion, thus actually banishing the Angel's Haven this time, and probably setting Noelle up for a Hikikomori ending (from Omori, yk what I'm talking about) eventually. Idk if you really wanna go this far Toby, but controversy aside that would be such an immense psychological hit for the players, especially since they're young, and I'm fucking all for it (naturally the bad ending being the most boring like in Undertale, so that the majority of players doesn't have to experience it directly
You lost me when you separated the final lines , which judging by the flow of the song are clearly supposed to go together. "With the truth, the promise in our hearts. Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark". "Don't forget" is the promise, and the promise is the truth. If we go with Dess for this line of thinking, then if Kris potentially witnessed her disappearance and was with her and they both saw(or were affected by) something, her final words to Kris could've been to never forget the true events that transpired on that day.

Only they have the power to close the fountains (the same ones the titans will come out of, since the roaring is happening at this point) and banish the angels heaven. **Only then** will balance be restored, and the world saved from destruction.”*
It’s a bit literal, but it seems to me that the prophecy is saying that the roaring is set to happen, but it’s also the *only* time that we’re supposed to show up “shining with hope/shining in the cold” despite the end of the world happening around us, and when we close the fountains that the titans come out of and banish the angels heaven, that’s the *only* time that balance will be restored.
Gaster has a beautiful singing voice
🎶
When the light is running low
And the shadows start to grow
And the places that you know
Seem like fantasy
There's a light inside your soul
That's still shining in the cold
With the truth, the promise in our hearts
Don't forget,
_I'm with you in the dark_
🎶
When the full version of the song play (presumably at the end of the game) I will probably be a sobbing mess. I cannot wait for that day
personal head cannon i think it is December due to the voice.
I can't wait for "Deltarune Chapter 7 OST 856: Deltarune"
Its gonna be epic and sad
Interesting idea
I always thought maybe it's Asriel still being with Chris
Or it's Toby being with the player in spirit.
This song never fails to give me goosebumps
What if... They are "literally" with Us? And thats why We hear the motif of the song.
Don't forget it says shining in the COLD. 3:50. Both Undertale and DELTARUNE have important connections to cold. Undertale having Snowdin Town and DELTARUNE having the Holliday family's various connections to the snow.
This was really interesting! I am starting to fall down the rabbit hole of smaller theorists though :P
Crazy how there are still theorys being made about this game AND ITS GOOD??? the games been out for 3 years how has this video not been made yet and why is this one so good???
Idk wait lil bro what should we do😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
Toby Fox: writes a secret / easter egg
UT/DR "Theorists": it's gAsTeR
I personally think its about the creation you made at that start of the game in chapter 1 of Deltarune.
Tldr: gaster did it
I think it’s Ralsei singing to Kris (not the player). Also the promise is probably related to saving Des.
wow i never even considered don't forget not being the full version of the song yet
The fact that this is the first real unfiltered human voice we hear in the course of the entire Undertale Deltarune saga is hair-raising.
You got me thinking. What if this song isn't to US. What if it's naturally in the world? Something remembered. Say, late at night, after the kids and older siblings are playing in the woods? After all the spooks and screams and howls... a soft and quiet reassurance from Des, to her little sister, "I'm with you in the dark".
who up gasting until they blaster
Imagining gaster singing that makes me think of this one drawing of gaster as a cat girl and says like. Nya~! Im wing gaster~! Or something
In my opinion this interpretation works for either Dess or Gaster's stories, but arguably Dess a little more.
my personal headcanon is that its a popular lullaby/kids song within the universe, but tbf that is based in absolutely nothing within the game
and it would be really funny if it was gaster bc god DAMN that man can spit even after being shattered across time and space
100% don’t forget will most likely have an extended version. give me more!!!
It is def about the roaring, it is impossible to refuse.
You really did just hide Wingdings at the start of the video and think we wouldn’t notice, did ya?
18:03 the word you where looking for is, omnipresent. Omnipotent is a different thing entirely.
Lore of What Is 'Don't Forget' About, Anyway? | DELTARUNE momentum 100
the word you were looking for is "omnipresent" not "omnipotent". omnipotent means all powerful and we don't know much about that but what the goners strongly imply is that he is always present which is omnipresent
yes! I just got my definitions a bit mixed up there.
GASTER FEMBOY GASTER FEMBOY
its our vessel talking to us
Is it weird that I remember Don’t Forget because it was used in slimecicle’s Skyrim VR video
Edit: okay so I don’t actually remember if it was specifically the Skyrim VR video but I’m sure it was in a slimecicle video
It’s really obvious Laura Shigihara is in game singing it smh, says it right in the credits
Apologies in advance for rambling in your comment section:
One thing regarding the Ralsei theory and "I'm with you in the dark"; Obviously his similarities to Asriel must be intentional, especially as the light world people go out of their way to mention that Asriel is real but is not physically present, and Kris SUPPOSEDLY misses him.
1:31 Okay but if Gaster actually sounds like that i swear 😭
Something to add from me: while I don’t think Kris is the one singing Don’t Forget, I think that the leitmotif of Don’t Forget is Kris’s theme.
If Don't Forget is sung by December... I thing it's something like a lullaby to Noëlle, not Kris
“Don’t forget to pick up your child after school”
Ok, this is getting way overcomplicated. Stop trying to tie in all the loose ends of the lore and listen to the statement as a whole. “The truth- the promise in our hearts- I’m with you in the dark”. It’s all one idea. When times get tough, it’s easy to feel alone (IE, “in the dark), but the _truth_ is there are always people willing to stand by you. That’s the “promise in our hearts”. Friendship and the dedication to face adversity together.
I agree tbh, it’s definitely all one sentence.
Unnecessarily passive aggressive but ok
@@enigma9421 I get frustrated by bad analysis.
@@AlriikRidesAgain it’s a fine method for analyzing a game. It’s terrible for figuring out the meaning of a song.
Seems just like a nice song by the lady who sang the song from Plants vs. Zombies. But, that won't stop Deltarune fans from speculating endlessly until the heat death of the universe and Chapter 7 drops
Considering we know "something" likely happened in the past with Kris at that bunker and that probably had something to do with December's disappearance, this promise may have occurred then 🤷
Edit: it's also worth noting that Dess is known to be associated with an acoustic guitar, and most acoustic players tend to also be singers, meanwhile the instrumental accompaniment here is a piano, which we know Kris used to play and being close friends with the Holliday's it wouldn't be surprising if she often sang as he played before she disappeared.
Also, the last nine notes of Don’t Forget are a pitched up version of Gaster’s Theme played on a piano: the same instrument used in Undertale’s version, and multiple other versions in Deltarune.
i just had an enlightenment and it's unsettling:
the Angel is actually Dess, not Noelle, and by manipulating her or not, starting from chapter 2, the player can choose 2 endings to the game,
the power of friendship sort of ending, where we stop the Angel and her Haven,
or the bad ending, where we force Noelle to kill her own sister, after the most bittersweet reunion, thus actually banishing the Angel's Haven this time, and probably setting Noelle up for a Hikikomori ending (from Omori, yk what I'm talking about) eventually. Idk if you really wanna go this far Toby, but controversy aside that would be such an immense psychological hit for the players, especially since they're young, and I'm fucking all for it (naturally the bad ending being the most boring like in Undertale, so that the majority of players doesn't have to experience it directly
It’s Ralsei’s lullaby.
What if it's about Everyman?
I think it's purple guy
You lost me when you separated the final lines , which judging by the flow of the song are clearly supposed to go together.
"With the truth, the promise in our hearts. Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark". "Don't forget" is the promise, and the promise is the truth.
If we go with Dess for this line of thinking, then if Kris potentially witnessed her disappearance and was with her and they both saw(or were affected by) something, her final words to Kris could've been to never forget the true events that transpired on that day.
Wait, does the "Don't Forget" motif not appear at all in any of the Chapter 2 songs?
It does! I only included Chapter 1 examples here because that section was getting a little long.
It doesn't fucking matter who sings it, there's probably no true answer.
why u scrolled all the way down?
conspiracy theory: it's kris
13:37
It's Asriel guys
This theory has confirmed to me that Gaster, Mr. Wing Dings himself, is a femboy.
Guys, it’s obviously Kris 😢
Gaster being a pre-T trans man makes my heart hapy
Can you make another video about when silk song might release? (I need cope)
Miserable guy
