I just couldn't do without it, I couldn't concentrate on anything until I ate the damn sugar... and yes, my teeth are affected too. The problem was getting worse, and I decided to finally end it. I've spent this whole month intermittent fasting and detoxing my body from sugar well as much sugar as I can anyway. I've lost 16 lb and I'm very happy but man sugar addiction is real
To give some encouragement to anyone struggling with eating habits and too much sugar, I was increasingly becoming insulin resistant and developing many conditions that come with it! It surprised me enough that I decided to find out how to reverse it. You can have a low sugar diet and be satisfied and healthy! The conditions have reversed that were affecting me since I've lowered sugar intake, increased protein, fiber, and exercise. It's such a relief and I'm so grateful to have my health 🙏 💛 😌 💓 i hope you all are healthy too!
What's funny is that most people don't realize that probably 90%+ of the food you buy has added sugar of some sort even if it is a savory food. Check your labels, you may be grossly surprised.
Good food has long term effects - making you feel much better throughout the day, whereas sugar will give you a momentary spike and you will feel worse because there is little to no nutritional value in sugary food.
its because you eat to much sugar, increase sugar levels, the body is taking in alot too fast, your stomach gets bigger, then you need to eat more because your stomach is bigger but your body is still the same and only needs at around 1100-2300 cals (different for everyone), but when you restrict the sugar your body will "reset" its calorie intake and boom, you are on your way to a better life. It's how I did it, i went from 318 to 179 in two years
+Gene Glagolev I think it does when you are socializing with people that makes you feel acepted like when they laught at your jokes or when you go out and have fun with them that the brain releases dopamine
You don't like socializing still you come to UA-cam to post...internet has become a new way of socialization especially for people with poor social skills, awkward or too sensitive. Nothing wrong with that but be aware that there are many ways of socialize. Even watching TV could be considered a way to stay involved in social interactions. Unless you spend the day doing meditation, studying or creating something chances are you are socializing in some way.
I can understand your point. I'm the same way. You don't have to be awkward, sensitive or shy to not enjoy socializing. Some people just don't get energy from spending time with other people the way they do spending time alone, even if they have awesome friends. Ain't nothing wrong with that, and I know awesome successful people who have no problem admitting that they're like that. Check out Jason Silva and his videos, he's one! gotta say that I'm so addicted to sugar that I developed quite a big resistance to it. I can eat lots of sweets without feeling that nauseaus thing. But i'm trying to get over it, but my body keeps asking me for it, its so hard!!
I am watching this because I have noticed a significant decline in my memory, short term specifically, and losing concentration and focus. I forget small things, easily lose my track of mind, and forget what i'm talking about often. It has gotten to the point that it hurts my head to think because I know the information, I just can't remember and it scares me. I know I am addicted to sugar and I have my whole life. I do not eat many fruits or veggies or take vitamins either. It is hard because I don't gain weight and have always been fit, so I assumed I never needed to change the way I eat because I never had an issue, but the real issue is inside and not on the outside. I am also so tired all the time and I have a hard time finishing tasks, thinking with my Dr I may have ADHD. But when the medication isn't "working" my concerns go elsewhere. This video was very informational. I have always been very creative and intelligent, but I am clearly noticing a decline as I get older. Any easy ways to begin shifting my diet would be appreciated.
Dude I have the same cognitive and memory symptoms. I definitely notice a shift in my focus and distractibility when I’m consuming sugar often versus when I decide to quit. I become more compulsive too, and have fatigue as well. And I am someone who is very fit but also has been vegan for 12 years. I can’t remember anything! The harsh reality is to give up sugar but I keep thinking I can live a “moderation” lifestyle. It never works :(
Check out "Never binge again". It's targeted to people with this ED but it can be useful to anyone who wants to gain control over their sugar cravings.
That's the issue. As a once overweight and obese person who loved sweets, even now when I'm at a healthy weight when I eat sweets I totally binge out, and almost always the whole day. Like I become a psycho eating sweets. I can eat 20 cookies and eat a burrito and although I'm dying of fullness I eat other shit. How do I control that? That's why I'm scared of eating sweets because of my lack of control which really isn't healthy for you. And it puts all my hard work to waste. Anyone has any tips??? Thanks loves.
Ariana, I think eating sweets and sugary foods in moderation is okay. Don't try to quit cold turkey. Your body will revolt big time. I think the problem is that the more sugary food you eat, the more your body craves it. So, the trick is to try to replace sugary food with a more natural sugar like fruit. Even carrots are sugary. Then taper off. You'll have to track what you eat in order to know how much sugar that you are consuming each day. Have you ever used myfitnesspal.com? That is a great, free tool in tracking your nutrition.
Have you ever looked into overeaters anonymous? The symptoms you describe of just not being able to control yourself sound similar to many members. Like an alcoholic who just simply cannot have one drink, many people who have eaten compulsively in the past have developed lasting addictions that they can experience recovery from if they seek help and support. It has totally transformed my life, my happiness and my body.

I've been trying really hard to eat healthier and literally cut both Sugar & Salt out of my diet by 70-80%. I had no idea, that to even achieve the level of change that I wanted, would require me shopping at multiple different stores for the food & ingredients that I needed!... But it's totally working and I look & feel so much better than I did 6 Months ago!... 💯💯💯
Now I realized why my (not friends) used to eat so many candies in my class days & I not used to, this also comes to an conclusion I have a control on my brain.
Since you enjoyed this video, you may also want to know that sugar has a lot of different names on ingredients labels. The first item on the list is what there’s the most of in a product! Companies don’t want to have sugar on their ingredient list, so they’ll use other names for it. Cumulatively, these different names add up to a good amount of sugar in the product!
Sugar is probably the most important nutrient that body needs, as it is the main ingredient in the production of ATP which is required for pretty much every bodily function.
Jonathan Cruz One of the major contributors to people having health problems in America and probably other parts of the world. Too much sugar and bad types of sugar. Best to stick to complex carbohydrates and fruits.
No. You do not need any kind of sugar to live. It's a very easy, efficient fuel, and so one your body craves, but you can literally live a lifetime without a molecule of it. There are regional diets that are carbohydrate free, and modern weight loss or diabetic control diets that are very close. The reason the body craves efficient fuel is because food was so hard to come by during our evolution. Thing is, food isn't hard to come by anymore. Excessive carb intake is VERY easy now, and leads to diabetes and weight gain. Unless you've got a sporting event the next day, the healthiest choice is generally to limit carb intake as much as is practical.
I was lazy to the point, I developed diabetes and heart disease. I had a eating disorder. If I didn’t eat food I would cry. I used to 40-90 cookies a day. Drinking about 20-30 sodas. In like two days in total.

I’m gonna be honest. For me if I don’t eat dessert or snacks like candy or chips for a long period of time and I see it on the market after I exercised I literally can not move away my eyes it’s like I want it so much. But after I eat like one or two bites those feelings are completely gone and I don’t feel that urge of eating sugary food for at least like 1 month if I’m eating enough calories.

rainbowsalads Too much of anything can be bad for you. Eating excessive amounts of fruit can cause digestive problems, like the runs. But most people aren't eating solely fruit nowadays, so not that much of an issue.
rainbowsalads Why should it praise fruit? The video, by name, is about how sugar effects the mind, regardless of the source of the sugar. They aren't making any statements about what to eat, just telling what happens to your body when you eat too much sugar. They are educating, not endorsing.
Factoid This video only speaks of sugar from bad sources. Sugar is bad because you want more cake or cookies perspective. Fruit is the best source for sugar/ energy. It is the best to crave as it is within nutritionally dense food. So if you crave it.....then good!! fruit should have been praised here. Fruit is the reason why we create dopamine when we sense sugar. we evolve eating fruit. that is why our brains thank us.

As someone who is overcoming a binge eating disorder, I find that not eating sugar and bread keeps me from going off the edge. I love fruits! I eat them a few times a week! As for things with added sugars, for my health and my sanity I plan to never eat them again!

I had a sugar addiction, it really can be called that. I had been buying myself a bar of chocolate or a candy bar for a year or more on a regular basis (every couple of days), this is if you don't count the sweet tea that I constantly drink. I just couldn't do without it, I couldn't concentrate on anything until I ate the damn sugar... and yes, my teeth are affected too. The problem was getting worse, and I decided to finally end it.
I did not completely give up sweet purchases (I have already said why above), but I reduced the dose gradually, and now buying sweets is an exceptional rarity for me.
Saving money and saving your health is what you will have if you prevent sugar addiction.
My mood lifted when I ate chocolate and stuff. This is one of the reasons for the onset of addiction. But believe me, it will save you in a short period, and then it will only turn against you.

Socializing has never given me pleasure.
Ouch, it's showing the myth of only a specific part of tongue tasting a specific taste... :/
While those receptors exist throughout the tongue, they are most concentrated in the traditional areas.
Actually, concentration differences aren't relevant here. There are _threshold_ differences, but all areas do taste equally well. :)

Christopher Bartel Me neither; tell me if that changes. Fortunately Wikipedia can be used for locating more sources, _as I clarified earlier_. It is simply a nice collection and it's fairly simple to link people to the article instead of copying loads of other links here.
Now tell me, do we disagree on anything? If you want me to start linking to primary research articles (which as a medical student and biology teacher I can), that's fine too but very much more tedious to general readers who want answers quickly. :)

gotta say that I'm so addicted to sugar that I developed quite a big resistance to it.
Have you ever considered keto?
Dude I have the same cognitive and memory symptoms. I definitely notice a shift in my focus and distractibility when I’m consuming sugar often versus when I decide to quit. I become more compulsive too, and have fatigue as well. And I am someone who is very fit but also has been vegan for 12 years. I can’t remember anything!
Lol your funny that's like me haahaha
