One of my students is Belizian. She saw my Instagram and came up and chatted about our trip. And she was just as cool and chill as the Belizians we met while there.
Belize was the first foreign country I ever visited. I was 18 and I went with a small group from college. I’ve never felt as safe wandering around the cities I come from here in the US as I did in Caye Caulker! A local man showed us constellations and we followed the sound of Piano Man to a karaoke bar. Not a day goes by I don’t think about those fry jacks. I love Belize!
I never knew it was possible to fall in love with a place until I spent a semester in Belize in college. I love that country and the people! Can't wait to return some day with my husband and kids. I'm saving up for a trip!
Remo Gatron my husband is Iranian and his mother puts the tissue in the waste basket when she visits and it drives me insane LOL! But, I’ve been to Belize and never noticed anyone doing that. 🤷🏼♀️
ETX Sports Like I said I don’t like it, but she is an old lady. I think the reasoning is because back in Iran the older toilets can’t take toilet paper and they don’t usually use toilet paper there, so she’s not used to it. (They clean with water rather than paper.) A lot of toilets in the ME have water sprays instead of paper.
Kaylynn Seguro can you help me I have to present Belize at school I want to know what your country’s most important means of existence or something like that is I am from South America and I can’t find enough information of Belize on google
I've been to Belize 4 times for mission trips, and it is a beautiful place. The people are laid-back and friendly, and I enjoyed being there. We were helping a local church in Xiabe village, in Northern Belize, building a bathroom , and putting up a fence.
You flew to Belize to build a bathroom and fence? If you had just sent them the money you would have spent on the airfare couldn't they have built many bathrooms and fences? I never understand short mission trips. If you're going there on holiday and do this as well then it makes sense.
What's Important? Although the sentiment sounds good, I.e. to help out, I can’t help but to think that the locals could have done that? For example they could have sent the resources over and a local person could have done it and been paid for their work. It’s a relatively small job.
@@dru1894 The answer is to combine a vacation to a place you have wanted to visit anyway with bringing stuff they can use and expertise they need. As most people usually only have a 1 week vacation it does get a bit absurd. Most people are pretty wiped for a couple days after traveling so they have maybe 4 days because the last day is spent returning. Short holidays are rather ridiculous. Better to spend them at home with family. Or volunteer at home. There seems to be high needs most everywhere.
What's Important? - Well, in fairness the person didn’t say how long they went over for. As long as there’s a good sentiment there and they’re not harming people or their culture then whatever. 🤙🏾
I absolutely love belize. My grandparents retired down there in the 90’s in the country side of San Ignacio. Used to go there every summer as a kid, finally went back down last winter for the first time in about a decade. Going back next winter for our honeymoon to show my fiancé what a beautiful country it is. Really neat to see all these places on video that we’ve been to numerous times as kids! Hoping one day, I too, can retire down there! The only thing I think I’d like to add for anyone who may be thinking about going to visit, while it may be more on the expensive side as far as Central American countries go, know that if you eat local/buy fresh grown foods, it is incredibly cheap compared to what you would pay for the same things in the US!
Fuel is more expensive in Belize. Labour wages are also higher. Plus Belize doesn't have factory for car or any type of transportations. Therefore making these tours available are expensive.
Belizean to the Bone and yes I did a big smile on his pronunciation of Caye Caulker as Caye Coker and a few other things but I love the fact that he enjoyed my country and realize that it is #ChillaxCountry.

Easily one of my top 3 vacation destinations to just relax and chill. And “Fried Jacks” 🤤 The safety part was spot on. I was in Hopkins bay, and felt safe the whole time.

I have spent a lot of time in Belize and love it. The most shocking thing to me was not only the existence, but the dominance of the Mennonites. They grow the food, build the houses … and have created a special relationship with the government to the point of symbiosis.
The up charge come from the western expats who unfortunately dictate and run the tourist business game and resorts in Belize. You will mostly be charged tourist rates everywhere. There are of course some few exceptions. I recommend to support the local native people and their businesses as tourism is the primary source of income for most natives.
Glad to see more people appreciating and noticing Belize more. Cave rubbing, zip linking, atv ridding all of those amazing thing are just a few of what all we have here in Belize
Thanks for featuring my beautiful Belize! Two corrections: 1. Belizean Creole is not Spanglish 2. Please do not say Maya ruin. These are Mayan temples. These Mayan temples are part of our Belizean heritage! Thank you.
I left England on a British Army posting exactly 40 years ago and flew to Belize on a RAF VC10 (via Newfoundland, the US (Washington Dulles) and Bermuda). There was snow on the ground in the Uk on 15th Jan 1980, and when we finally landed in the mid evening at Belize International Airport it was absolutely roasting hot when we stepped off the plane. I spent 6 months there and absolutely loved it. Spent most of my time at Airport Camp (now Price Barracks I believe) Toured around the country and loved it. Especially the Cayes. Managed to get up to mexico too. Several of my pals took part in an international Forces football tournament in Florida which they won. I would love to go back again and hopefully when I am properly retired in just a few years time that will be possible and I will be able to take my family over with me. These videos make me want to go there now, but I need to get the finances in order. Belize is an amazing place. :)
My Aunt has a home in Consejo. I have for years now gone down and sit in her yard next to the bay. I have been to every temple site more than twice so far. Things to remember when touring around- have a plan in advance before you arrive. Flight into Belize city from the U.S.A. Could take you up to 36 hours of being awake in total if booked cheap. It did me once. I got a Direct flight into Cancun and took the bus into Chetumal, then hit the bus system in Belize. 1- book a 2 night room to get comfortable to travel. 2- Do your own tours and save on costs. Find a place to go. 3- Do not rent a car, costs $100.00 us dollars per day. 4- Ride the bus system, cost $1.00- $2.00 us dollars. When the bus pulls into the yard, run to the back of the bus open the rear door, drop your what-ever's down and take a seat near to your what-ever's. You DON'T BUY A TICKET, THE DOOR MAN WILL FIND YOU, pay cash to him. All the other people are boarding through the front door, when full the bus leaves. Tell him where your going to. He will call out the stop for you. 5- Finding a room in your city is very easy, do not book one. You will not like your room, or will get ripped off in price's. After you exit the bus, walk down the street and you will see a LOT OF PRIVATE HOMES SET UP. They all watch you walking on the street with your bags. They call you over to see the rooms, go in and look first. Then barter your stay, very common to do. 6- Go to your tour by walking or bus. Pay when you arrive, it's way cheaper. Some places like Jaguar Paw- (Santa Ignacio is were all the good places are to see) it's where the Zip lines and Cave water tubing is. About 10 miles from town. It's down a dirt road about a few miles. No Big Deal, someone is in a car and will take you there for a small fee. We did this and payed him extra to buy tickets and go on both Zip lines and Cave touring. BOTH ARE SUPPER GREAT, DON'T LEAVE BELIZE UNTIL YOU DO BOTH. He takes you back to the bus stop. Some bus's are free to ride on, just be watching and wave them down. 7- Temples are super cheap to visit. The one that costs the most is Lamanai Reserve. This goes down the New river in Orange Walk. Take a rain coat if need be, it's over an hour to get down. It's the best site to see by far. 8- Best time of year to arrive. April -May. Why, because it rains very little and the mosquitoes are a lot better to deal with. Later on when nice out you will be hamburger meat in one day. They also have Doctor Flies that draw blood and you will take days to recover. Always bring long sleeve shirts and full length pants and shoes and socks. Mosquitoes are waiting for you everywhere in places. The closer you are to water is best to be, across the street you are hamburger meat. 9- Belican beer is nasty. They only have Heineken for other. If say you like Corona beer ask the bar tender if he has what you like, he does in the back. If you smoke, same thing ask him for your smokes. Belize cigs are nasty. 10- You can stay longer than 30 days if you leave and return to Belize, so go to Tikal or Mexico to see sites. I saw 4 countries, 20 sites, flight and food, rooms, extras, girls, fun for 50 days and spent no more than $1500.00 us dollars. GO SEE BELIZE

I stayed on Amber Gris Caye a few years back and had an amazing time in Belize. I felt safe the entire time and found the people very honest and friendly. I took a water taxi to Caye Caulker and found the laid back nature of the island infectious. Thanks Mark for reminding me of my vacation to Belize and I will plan a return visit. I still have a Belikin Beer glass to remind me of my adventure.
Thank you for your info. I would like to know everything about Belize. Have been thinking retirement in either Mexico or Belize. Anything you have to share is awesome.
In 1979 I was stationed in Airport Camp with the British army. Managed to see most of the country either flying with Mayan Airways or Land Rover, fantastic and very warm and friendly people. I always remember landing at PG Airport to be met by the little old lady, I presume she was the postmistress, collecting the mail from Belize city!❤❤
We went to San Ignacio a couple of years ago. The people in San Ignacio are very friendly and welcoming. Something that may shock you is that most of the restaurants here don't have air conditioning. I recommend seeing Xunantunich. Cahal Pech is very close to San Ignacio which is also interesting to see. I didn't care much for El Pilar because most of the ruins are not dug up yet. Plus the road going to El Pilar is extremely bumpy. I was worried our taxi wasn't going to make it there. The steps going up Xunantunich are steep! Get ready for a serious workout and make sure to take a water bottle/snack with you. I also recommend going to Pop's restaurant in San Ignacio for breakfast. Its a little hole in the wall and you may have to share your table with strangers, but the food is very good.
Why does every country think they have cornered the market on this? It is “island time” almost everywhere in Asia, Africa, parts of Southern Europe, the pacific rim, even certain states and provinces in North America.....
So the way I understand it is that you don't go to a restaurant to eat when you are hungry. You eat at home then b/c you can make your food as fast as you like. You go to a restaurant to watch ppl and have a drink and if food arrives at some point in time then you can eat it.
Proud of my country. Also, taxi is the more expensive transport method around. The local buses will get you everywhere you need to for a fraction of the price. Just ask anyone for help on which bus to take and you'll get your answer. When on the bus just tell the conductor where you wanna stop and they'll get you there.
Thank you for a very informative video. I'm considering a trip there, and this answered many questions. Glad you explained the crime situation because the U.S. Dept. of State advises high crime, but just as you said, particularly in South Belize City.
Well this is my personal opinion from my experience. We just came back from a 10 days trip to Belize. We stay in San Pedro but visited caye caulker and many other areas. 1- from all the other countries I’ve visited Belize is way way overpriced 2- I’m Latin and didn’t feel the latín flavor there. Their attitude wasn’t as friendly as other Latin countries or even my mother land 2-Very bad problem with the seaweeds, I understand is Mother Nature and hard to control but, not all the water is clean and for instance San Pedro only had one swimmable beach (secret beach) as far as can tell for the day I stayed in caulker there was only the one too (the split) - positive things, if you are a diver they have amazing spots to check. Loved the variety of marine and coral life. Taking tours or schedule a private boat to go few sea miles out into the nice clean water is a must.
It's a funny thing, but maybe because you're Hispanic, you weren't treated like a tourist. I think tourists are greeted in a more friendly manner.... n most of the "Latin" or Hispanic people live in the north and some to the very west in Cayo.
I am. I'll be visiting for the 1st time for my 30th bday. My grand father is from Belize. I didnt grow up with my father side of the family in my life so I always missed the trips. I'm so excited for my trip to see where hes from and learn about my other half 😊😊😊
I highly recommend the Actun Tunichil Muknal mayan cave! It's like being on a Tomb Raider / Indiana Jones movie. You climb up inside the cave, go through rivers and at the very top there's a mayan sacrifice site. It was an unforgettable adventure!
Alejandro Trinidad yes!!!! I did this cave trip!!!! Soooooo amazing to climb through the river cave and reach the Mayan burial site. Not an easy hike but not super difficult either!
@@tinadraper9143 Well, it is a little demanding for the body but well worth the effort. Once you reach the top I'm sure you get into a state of trance hehe. I'm not sure about the ancestors though
I love the sound of island time!!! Just thinking about it is making super relaxed right now. Anyway, what I love about Belize is it fixed it's currency to the US dollar. It makes it easy to use US dollar, especially when Belize will use it. I can't wait to check it out!!!
Just returned from Amergris Caye & San Pedro 3rd annual trip and BELIZE ROCKS ! Rented a Golf Cart & drove around, met locals, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. Wife wants to move on down and retire soon ! Maybe soon. Speaking English makes it sooo convenient and cool. Suggest everyone try it !
Stay away from drugs. Majority of violence is drug related. One of the men killed in Belize from Canada they would not say why in the media. They tried to make it sound like it was random. Turns out the guy paid a minor for sex. The note on his dead body read, this is what happens to child rapist. Belize is not Thailand, if you have that mind set you could get in a lot of trouble. Show respect to the locals and stay away from drugs and you'll be safe all over the Country

You know I was looking at going to Pop's when we were there. Small world
Love your videos, thanks for sharing! I’m in Belize right now for the second time and I love it here!
I love your video! So positive and genuine about your experience. I’m glad you and your family enjoyed

Awesome video, I've never really looked into Belize much. This was a nice informative video!
It’s a sign seeing this video! Been wanting to visit for so long. I think it’s time ☺️ thank you!
They call it Belizean time instead of island time, tbh it gets worst inland lol
And "tomorrow" doesn't necessarily mean tomorrow. It just means not today.
@@profrog1 FAACCTTSSS😂😂🔥
Why does every country think they have cornered the market on this? It is “island time” almost everywhere in Asia, Africa, parts of Southern Europe, the pacific rim, even certain states and provinces in North America.....
So the way I understand it is that you don't go to a restaurant to eat when you are hungry. You eat at home then b/c you can make your food as fast as you like. You go to a restaurant to watch ppl and have a drink and if food arrives at some point in time then you can eat it.
@@profrog1 that is hilarious!!!!!
Finally a video about us with the POV of an actual tourist
I love my country. Beautiful Belize.
hello i am from caye caulker and i hoped you enjoyed your time at belize and caye caulker
2:00 Here in Belize the sun is actually huge like in the animated movies
"Caye Coker"
@@robertturton6714 Lol was gonna mention that too
This is fact. No joke.
I lived and worked in Belize for one year and I loved everything about it.
Wolters world I New I saw u the other day on Caye Caulker but I was not sure if it was u....I live on the island, I am glad u enjoyed 🇧🇿🇧🇿🇧🇿
Great video! Loved the video cutaways. Gives a great sense of the place! Belize looks gorgeous!
My dad was from Belize. I hope to visit there one day😊
Belize is a beautyful place to go and see to varaty of cultures

Do people from U.S. need a pass-port to visit Belize?
Proud of my country. Also, taxi is the more expensive transport method around. The local buses will get you everywhere you need to for a fraction of the price. Just ask anyone for help on which bus to take and you'll get your answer. When on the bus just tell the conductor where you wanna stop and they'll get you there.
Love this! BEST review I’ve seen on here
For real we need reviews like this
We will be there last week of March. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for a very informative video. I'm considering a trip there, and this answered many questions. Glad you explained the crime situation because the U.S. Dept. of State advises high crime, but just as you said, particularly in South Belize City.
You sir gained a subscriber, thank you for clarifying the crime issues as shown on google which gives our country a black eye.
Well this is my personal opinion from my experience.
We just came back from a 10 days trip to Belize. We stay in San Pedro but visited caye caulker and many other areas.
1- from all the other countries I’ve visited Belize is way way overpriced
2- I’m Latin and didn’t feel the latín flavor there. Their attitude wasn’t as friendly as other Latin countries or even my mother land
2-Very bad problem with the seaweeds, I understand is Mother Nature and hard to control but, not all the water is clean and for instance San Pedro only had one swimmable beach (secret beach) as far as can tell for the day I stayed in caulker there was only the one too (the split)
- positive things, if you are a diver they have amazing spots to check. Loved the variety of marine and coral life.
Taking tours or schedule a private boat to go few sea miles out into the nice clean water is a must.
It's a funny thing, but maybe because you're Hispanic, you weren't treated like a tourist. I think tourists are greeted in a more friendly manner.... n most of the "Latin" or Hispanic people live in the north and some to the very west in Cayo.
sandy Xen possibly!
My husband is American though.
Hopefully we will have a chance to go back and things might be different
Thanks!
Yeah, I keep hearing about that. It's almost a must visit when going to Belize.
Alejandro Trinidad yes!!!! I did this cave trip!!!! Soooooo amazing to climb through the river cave and reach the Mayan burial site. Not an easy hike but not super difficult either!
Can you feel the presence of the ancestors there?
@@tinadraper9143 Well, it is a little demanding for the body but well worth the effort. Once you reach the top I'm sure you get into a state of trance hehe. I'm not sure about the ancestors though
@@aboumoslem I visited the sand creek massacre sight in Colorado USA and I could feel a strong presence.
Thank you so much for this!! I had a friend there but now it looks like I'll be going on my own. Thanx for your report!!
I live here in Belize and yeah it amazing, hope you enjoyed your stay
I'm Belizean to da bone!!!!!!😉 Nice video Sir!!! 🍻
Happy that you enjoyed my lovely little country.
It's not hard to figure this out. Old name was British Honduras. They have protected thier marine life quite intimately last three decades at least.
Yup Belizean here ✋🏼
Thank you so much for your video. I am a Belizean and am so glad to see this video that shows the real thing. Gorgeous videos....thank you so much...
Trying to get there, have been longing for ten years! Thanks for helping my cabin fever!
I absolutely love Belize. Such a beautiful and relaxing place. ♥️
Thanks for this vid. This place has been on my list for years.
Krystal Baker it’s beautiful, lots to do! Bring lots of sunscreen, hat and long sleeve shirt. Thin, but it helps with skin protection
Thanks for shouting out on Belize appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself here also there is a wine house in San Ignacio
I love the sound of island time!!! Just thinking about it is making super relaxed right now. Anyway, what I love about Belize is it fixed it's currency to the US dollar. It makes it easy to use US dollar, especially when Belize will use it. I can't wait to check it out!!!
It's a good place to go. Super chill
Until you need something done in a certain amount of time.....
I just returned from a cruise where I went to Belize. Belize me it was amazing!
Next time you come to Belize you should visit Spanish Lookout. A modern day Mennonnite farming community.
This guy is a great promoter! He now makes me want to visit Belize. ❤❤😊
Great video! Wonderful country 💚
Can’t wait to visit! Cheers
I Hope you have fun
Just returned from Amergris Caye & San Pedro 3rd annual trip and BELIZE ROCKS ! Rented a Golf Cart & drove around, met locals, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. Wife wants to move on down and retire soon ! Maybe soon. Speaking English makes it sooo convenient and cool. Suggest everyone try it !
Loved playing volleyball at the split !!
Brings back some lovely memories Belize is a great place hope to make it back that way someday soon.
"so you do have that" - that will never get old ahah
;)
We live in Belize and this was a very good quick view of our home. Nice job!
My sweet loving country ❤❤❤ nuff love big up all d belizean ppl dem
The jewel. Our beautiful Belize 🇧🇿 😘. Great video!
I'm a Belizean and I approve this message.
