Will great videos. I moved here in Sept 23. I moved here with $6000 USD in my pocket and a single backpack. I rent a nice cottage in Santa Elena. This area is fantastic. The total cost to live here including $200 a month for Visa extensions is just under $900 USD. That's everything , cell phone ,internet, water, gas, rent ($400 USD) insurance for my motorcycle. I bought my bike on day 2. (came out of my $6000.) electric and food. Soon I will be able to get a bank account and my residency. Life gets better every month. I love this place and can't wait to see what adventure comes today. For every scorpion, snake, lizard, fire and creepy crawlers here, there are 100 great things to do and see.
My father, Ruben Ricketts, left his home in Belize, 1940s, and emigrated to Edinburgh, Scotland. He was among the men who were invited to go the UK by the UK government to take up employment and fill the job vacancies after WWII ended. Thanks Will. Excellent video. The information is timely and powerful. That QRP Investment update is a game changer and has the opportunity to transform Secret Beach (since I own out there), but the country in general. I believe the investors will be knocking down the door for both tourism and agriculture opportunities. Please keep sharing. The future is truly looking bright for Belize!
Will, you keep upping your game and keep setting the bar higher for others to try and match. Thanks for sharing these great details. Happy belated New Year to you and Remax

Thank you Will. Your videos inspire so many ppl to make the jump and live in paradise. You and Chris are both amazing and we can’t wait to move there and enjoy island life.
Thanks Will . Great video. Thank you to the BTB reps for the very articulate well spoken and explained details of this new program. This is a great new program that will make it easier for investors and retirees to bring goods and materials to belize to set up businesses and their homes . This will be great for employment of locals and have a significant impact on contributing to the local economy as well. Thank you
This is so informative! Belize is on my list of places to retire. And the retirement incentives for people who want to conduct business is a bonus for a small business owner like myself. That's for this valuable information.
Great video Will! Glad to see Belize progressing in a very positive way. It's nice to hear that with the amendments to the QRP that retirees can now find employment - at least for part time. I just hope that this doesn't take away employment opportunities for local residents. However, seeing how fast Ambergris Caye is growing this shouldn't be an issue. My fear for the island is that it will get too overpopulated and be like Aruba or other like islands. I know last time I visited one of our dive guides stated they keep raising the number of floors that a building/hotel can be. One thing I fell in love with Ambergris Caye is that it wasn't overpopulated and still had that small island culture. I hope that greed doesn't go too far and turns this beautiful island into a commercialized location....if you know what I mean :). Guess we will have to hope for the best!
What specifically must be the source of regular income that a Canadian or American retiree can show to obtain the QRP residency, and what is required to keep the residency active, including living in the country? As an alternative, can a snowbird easily find a place to live for a few months a year, especially in the San Pedro region?
I'm glad you found the information helpful! I hope you have an amazing time when you finally get to visit after retiring. If you ever have any questions I can be reached at will@remaxbelizerealestate.com
Hey Will Very informative video. Really enjoyed hearing first hand from the people that are implementing the new policies ( might be checking into the investment qrp). It’s so important for any investment especially by the government to make things happen vs. letting it happen. The momentum and trajectory is there. Keep up the exciting changes, growing at a planned , well thought out growth rate. Ps Hopefully will be back enjoying a great meal soon at the new pool club
Very informative video. Thank you. I noticed that an important portion of information that would have be included is healthcare; how is Belize equipped in regards of health care to attend retirees that reside there?.
We have a couple older videos on healthcare but are working on something more comprehensive. If you'd like information in the meantime feel free to email me at will@remaxbelizerealestate.com
Will - all your videos are great. We actually bought some land from your team last year and hats off to the whole team because they are amazing. Are there links or a direct line for the digital nomad visa information? Everyone I speak to doesn't know the exact process or whom to contact. No information online either
Sounds like you guys are working on major projects and that’s a GREAT sign for ppl who love to leave home countries but want to be in a place where the infrastructure, commerce and services are pretty seamless and of course professional. Not that this is a comment on Belize- but saying this in general.
Hi Will. Great video. My husband and I are doing our research to move to Belize and was hoping I could get an honest answer as which district is the best. We are wanting to bring our SUV with us as we would be coming in on the QRP and possibly driving it down. We would also like to get in touch with a realtor to show us around. Any and all advise is welcome.
Will that was a very informative video. Great to know the benefits of btb. We’re definitely going to take advantage of that. This is definitely a game changer! Now btb ladies if you need a 40 years or older btb model I’m your girl!😅😊
It says "personal savings". But how does "personal savings" generate 2k a month? Here's the deal. If I sell my house, and I have 500k in the bank, but no official monthy 2k income, do I qualify for this program?
Hey there if you’d like to find out more about the program feel free to email Romy Romy.Rancharan@belizetourismboard.org For real estate needs I’m happy to assist! Will@remaxbelizerealestate.com
Talking about investment opportunities, how is the tax structure and banking towards foreign investor or retirees? Also is Belize friendly toward crypto like Dubai? Thanks😊
No capital gains tax, no estate tax very low property tax amongst other great incentives. With residency can get your bank account set up. As for crypto are you referring to transactions using crypto or holding crypto?
Sounds like a solid plan and I appreciate the positive comment! If you haven't seen the latest video with the Mayor that is another good one to check out!!
Thats the only thing i don’t like. I’m planning my move. I’m not the qualifying age. But I can do the nomad program. I just don’t care for the $100 a month usd fee. Nor do I like that I can’t work while I am there. Because I wanted to develop a program at a highschool I had in mind
I was looking into the nomad program, but it sounds like you’re kicked out after 6 months. Can we not stay longer and extend it? I could be wrong, but that’s how I understood it.
@@meginbelize I’m not sure. I know if you don’t do the nomad program you still have to pay the fee every month. But I’m not sure if it’s a time limit on the stay. But I also wonder if you leave cross boarders. Then just come back does that count as leaving or do you physically have to fly out.
Great question. Could be anything domestic. Real estate or local businesses would be the two primary options. If you’d like more specific info please email Romy at Romy.Rancharan@belizetourismboard.org

Not sure if this would be the best path on that. You would likely have to pay duties if you don't qualify for this program unfortunately. I would personally sell as much as possible then purchase in Belize but it really depends on the items as most everything is taxed at different rates.
Thank youuuu.. plus Simone is a yardy str88. Spot the accent 😊😅 Umm I just wanna pick up n leave nyc and live in Belize. Soon soon, unnu juss hold on deh.
so to just move to Belize you have to provide documentation that proves you have a yearly income of at least $75,000 per year somewhere outside the country??? that is $20,000 more than Mexico requires??
Upside, I love Belizeans. The downside is concerning....There are actually laws against gay people in Belize and women rarely hold office. Hopefully it will become more humanitarian but I would want all people protected and respected.
Aww man, Cozy still 36 but meets all other requirements for QRP. We allowed to stay there until 40? Cozy proof of retirement of just under $5K tax-free from US Department of Defense.
Great News....glad to see Belize "morphing" ...I personally would like to see a "citizenship by Investment" offer...set the bar high...at least US$5 Million to participate...these funds could certainly assist in the capital requirements for National Infrastructure. Will, would you please pass this thought to the appropriate individual...
Just make the effort to inform the Belizean government that there is viability in a CBI program...that's all I am asking...perhaps the US$5 Million is too high...but at the moment there is no CBI for Belize...
Who are these politicians who design these programs?? It is like they really don't want to see their country grow. Sometimes, I feel like they hate their fellow citizens and wish to see them wallow in poverty. How else do you explain what they do - take a look at Belize city and scores of other communities - the first thing you notice is a lack of employment opportunities and poverty. For over a decade, these so-called "leaders" have had the QRP program in place, yet they have blocked any opportunity for those same "supposedly" rich individuals to invest their capital into doing business and getting people employed in Belize. How insane can that be?? And then after a decade of inanity, they finally see the light, but now they are saying you need a minimum of $500K USD! I mean, the imperviousness is quite unbelievable. With 500K, you could get into far more developed countries and advanced sophisticated economies, including Canada and USA! Heck, ....for $150K to $250K, many Caribbean nations will even give you citizenship with absolutely no restrictions thereafter. Belize only has a population of 400,000 people, with GDP of USD$5 billion. With such an expansive landmass, the nation is crying out for human resource and investment - it is just so obvious! You would imagine that such an underpopulated and under-resourced nation would be far more proactive in finding and feeding its needs. But No! Certainly not evident to these "leaders". Your programs will do Belize very little good the way it is being implemented. Your leaders are just too insular and provincial! The world is a village and people have many options (especially rich people), you know? What do you want a retired 40 year old to do with his life if he can't do business? If you really want to succeed and do what is good for the nation, lower the investment threshold to $100K. After all, QRP candidates are not doing it so they can qualify. They already qualify, they are just looking to invest and contribute to the local economy! There are many wonderful countries in Southeast Asia and Baltics where you can invest less than 50K and get residency, and here is "little" Belize asking for half a million. For what??? They just don't get it. Imagine what 5000 new businesses of USD$100K each will do to the local economy? Imagine that happening again and again for the next 10 years?? Belize has to learn to compete, be less rigid and be much more resourceful in attracting desirable people. As it is, the ideas are stale and uninspiring, offering just too little in a world of big opportunities. You NEED people. You NEED resources. Wake up, Belize!!
