Belize sounds almost perfect for my lifestyle. I am an American that avoids most of the American fast paced, party, and consumer lifestyle. I hope to visit Belize soon.
We go to Belize every year and I LOVE IT!!! It is just so beautiful. There is a way to avoid carb overload though... Just grilled chicken or fish for dinner with a side salad or steamed veggies! Easy! Fruit plates for breakfast, ceviche for lunch, just go easy on the corn chips. I will do fry-jacks or pupusas on the weekends though! My special treat. I stay away from rice and beans as much as possible, they are delicious and I love them but I only eat them if I am invited out and it is served to be respectful of my hosts. Then I scarf it down! They dont slather their food in oil or butter either so that is a big plus! And I eat the hell out of marie sharp's! Give me a plate of grilled wings and some Marie Sharp's and I am HAPPY!
Those are all great reasons you should move to Belize.... I made the move from Florida and I agree with everything you said, but if your trying to live that laid back slow life Belize is perfect....
Hubby and I have oceanfront land in Belize and we've decided to sell it. It's boat access only, but not far from the road to Corozal. Living off grid sounded great, but arthritis is taking it's toll, so growing our own food and praying the boat starts, isn't stolen or gets a leak is too much for us as we age.
Just came back from Belize. I stayed in Hopkins and San Ignacio. My goodness did I enjoy myself. But I definitely can see some of your points. I had a virtual job interview while staying in San Ignacio, I had a hard time finding a dress shirt. When I finally found a place that sells dress shirts, I didn’t have any cash. I had to stand in line for almost 20 minutes to access a ATM.
Yeah this sound like the perfect place actually. Im from a small place called Lafayette, Louisiana and we take it slow. We are definitely about family and we eat alot of carbs and seafood. The only thing we don't have is beaches. Hope to visit Belize someday.
We’ve had a second home just north of San Pedro since 2002 and we love it. However you forgot to mention the tourist! It’s become to crowded! Thanks for the video!
Hi Giselle, I've been to Belize twice and both times had a great trip. Great video, but for me, all those reasons is why Belize has made a retirement short list.
Some that you left out- insects, rough dirt roads, only basic healthcare, and limited selection of items in stores. So if you want to follow a recipe here, forget about it. You probably won't find over half the items you need. I'm hoping they can get the Tren Maya to come here from Mexico so that we can possibly have more fruits and vegetables available.

Great video as always, Giselle! 🙌👏 Belize isn't a place for full-time living for me, but it's definitely very unique, and I've also got another family there, so it will always have a special place in my heart. ❤️ Greetings from Mexico! 🇲🇽

This should be called 10 reasons I don't want American to move to Belize because most small countries have those same issues. Also I think she just don't want American in her industry creating competition for her.
I definitely don’t want Americans in any industry if a Belizean can do the job here in Belize. Belizeans first and foreigners second when it comes to jobs here in Belize.

@@gisellebze lol, don’t get me wrong when I say this…..but I wish I could educate Belizeans on how to elect officials. I think this country could be in better standings internationally and domestically, but the politicians that are elected are in it for their own financial gains and not for the interests of the country. And it seems Belizeans always want to make a note of saying, “my country has done nothing for me” instead of them saying how can I make Belize better. Like president Kennedy said, “ask not what your country can do for you, but ask, how can I make my country better” Young Belizeans are leaving at an alarming rate. We need to keep the youths here to help change the narrative of PUP or UDP. Just my opinion. But FYI, other than Cayo I would live in Caye Caulker or Placencia.

I am looking for somewhere to move to when I retire next year ( 2025) and here are my most important things I am looking at. I want to know that there is plenty of potable drinking water? Mosquitoes, sand fleas, and sea lice can get rather thick at times. There is also a seasonal tide that floods the lower lying areas every year. American goods are much more expensive. Recent road improvements here paradoxically made traveling MORE dangerous because of speeding, reckless maneuvers, and lax traffic enforcement. The heat and humidity in the Summer months can leave you exhausted even with the slightest activity. Air conditioning can get really expensive depending on use and how much of the house you are cooling. The electrical grid has numerous outages and the water pressure during peak tourist season is nearly non-existent.
9 years in. Biggest thing that sucks is things are expencive and have no quality. Like a fridge ot tv washingmachine. Warrenty till the day it goes in. High importtaxes on goods. And the tacos suck its not like tacobell taco but snotty little greasy rolls.

9 years in. Biggest thing that sucks is things are expencive and have no quality. Like a fridge ot tv washingmachine. Warrenty till the day it goes in. High importtaxes on goods. And the tacos suck its not like tacobell taco but snotty little greasy rolls.
The government does need to do something about the high importation taxes
@@gisellebze and the frikn tacos
@@gisellebze On the flip side, Belize doesn't tax foreign earned income as many other countries do... which is great for people working remote and retirees.

It’s not bad at the moment
What’s sargassum?

There is no regulation, but a large bureaucracy which has regulations which impede you?
There is lack of transparency regarding regulations that do exist
Regulations are enforced only when they feel like it
To many Americans
Congratulations on getting monetized!!! Whoo-hoo! Would love to hear more about that! ❤
I’ve earned a total of $3 usd 😄. The best three dollars I’ve ever made!
Because it took me 2.5 years to earn it lol!

No manufacturing, weak infrastructure and very slow service. So what do 400,000 Belize people do other than lay around and eat carbs?
Enjoy life 🤷🏻♀️
Lay around more and eat more carbs.

Thank you My name is John I'm from the US unfortunately I live in cay caulker now for almost 3 years I love it of all my family is deceased I don't have anyone to go back to or anywhere and notice I have to go either way My only problem is even though I do miss some fast food sometimes that that's not really a problem there's plenty of good food here My only problem is when I got here I could still walk in about a year and a half ago I started having trouble walking in now I'm in the wheelchair I bought a nice three-wheeled scooter it was really expensive it was great and then my battery is melted because it was supposed to shut up but they overcharged it's $550 US to replace them and then I have to wait for them to be delivered and then hope that they're the right batteries so I've been kind of stuck in the house I have a wheelchair but it's a piece of junk but that's a that's my biggest issue so I'm happy here let all the people that want to go back to the US go back goodbye I wouldn't have it any other way thank you sis I'm not wealthy or I would try to buy a house from you
When I die they can just kick me out and throw me on the other side of the reef and I'll be fine yeah❤❤❤
Thank you Giselle😂
I'll subscribe where you at though where are you located?
